Welcome to The Many Adventures of the Loxley, the RP following a group of shipmates on a spaceship in the far reaches of space. Fame and fortune await the crew of the Loxley, as well as the experience of meeting new alien races and different people of all types. The captain of the ship is prepared to go on missions to make fortunes, but you must do your best to either accomplish all the missions the captain sets, or you can attempt to influence the type of missions you partake. Perhaps you believe it would be more profitable to side with an evil government and destroy a mining colony, or maybe you prefer to get safer jobs where you can sit back and relax. Whatever it may be, prepare to start your journey to fame and fortune!You find yourself perusing the [Help Wanted] section of the CommNet one day, and an ad looking for crew for a ship catches your eyes. It says S. Owens, Captain of the Loxley -a personal ship- is looking for a crew for the ship. You would be given private quarters on the ship, and you would recieve a cut of every completed job. With your interest piqued, you use the provided contact info to send in your application.
A few days pass after sending in your application, and you are contacted back by the First Mate of the Loxley. After a quick interview over CommNet you are given a face-to-face interview, again with the First Mate. After a few days you receive notice that you have been hired to be part of the crew of the Loxley. In a few days the ship will be leaving Earth, and the crew is expected to be on the ship an hour before, as to meet the Captain and the rest of the crew.

After twenty years of constructing and maintaining a self-sufficient colony on the moon, humanity discovered a large anomaly heading towards Earth at speeds previously unheard of. Within an hour of discovering it, it arrived at the solar system. Surprising all of humanity, a large spaceship appeared, seemingly out of no where. The ship approached Earths orbit, and many governments unanimously decided to send missiles at it, hoping to rid the world of any possible threat. However, the ship seemed to have very powerful shields that the missiles didn't even hit the actual ship. Smaller ships un-docked from the larger one, and within minutes alien shuttles were landing all over Earth.
The aliens, though tall and fierce looking, didn't apparently want to harm any of the inhabitants of Earth. Instead, they began speaking in the languages of Earth, allowing all kinds of people to understand them. At first everyone was confused, but the aliens explained that they had high-tech personal communicators that allowed dozens of different races to understand each other despite speaking different languages. At first, Humanity was skeptical about having an alien race on Earth, but they ended up allowing the race to stay on one condition; they had to share their technology.
The aliens -who called themselves the Qyor- stayed on Earth for several years, showing the Humans all kinds of technology they possessed, and eventually humanity agreed to meet other alien races as long as they too shared technology. By the year 2200 they had already met several other alien races, and they were also building their own spaceships that would be able to travel interstellar distances.
Things weren't always going goof for humanity, however. In the year 2219, a new alien race made themselves known to Earth, but these aliens had no intention of being friends. They attacked humanity and their alien allies with ferocity, and if humans were alone they would not have survived that war. However, thanks to their newly acquired allies, the Human race managed to fight the hostile race away. None of the other races had ever seen that race before, and that just told them that the universe was bigger yet, and there were races out there that wouldn't be as friendly as the Qyor, or the others that had befriended the Humans.

Distinguishing Features: The Grizhoni have blue skin with black markings across it, varying shades of blue hair and red eyes. They are a very lithe and aren't known for their strength but rather their intelligence.
Other: The Grizhoni have been exploring the universe for thousands of years. For a long time they were notorious for traveling to primitive worlds and abducting people to work for them, until the discovered Earth and their hardy humans. They enslaved a number of humans using them to work the jobs unsuited for the Grizhoni. At least until about roughly a thousand years ago when Shay (Grizhoni word for slave) rights groups were able to outlaw slavery on Gizhan.

Distinguishing Features: The Shayla appear very human with the most noticeable exception being their red eyes. Mostly due to the Shayla having human DNA in their make-up as well as Grizhoni. Physical strength and ability are very important to the Shayla. The live in tribe like groups usually with the strongest warrior leading them as Jarl.
Other: How the Shayla came to be is an interesting story, they once were humans taken from earth around the 800th century. The Grizhoni the primary race on Gizhan traveled to 800th century earth and abducted a viking settlement taking them back to Gizhan as a slave force. The humans despite being slaves thrived on Gizhan. When they were finally granted their freedom they remained on Gizhan with many finding the two species were compatible. As more Grizhoni and humans mated the Shayla were created, a race that wasn't fully human or Grizhoni. The Shayla take traits from both, the pigment color of their skin always takes after their human heritage while their eyes from the Grizhoni. Their hair colors range anywhere from the normal human shades to a variety of blues. They tend to have the best of both worlds inheriting the strength of humans and the intelligence of the Grizhoni. The Shayla still hold true to their viking culture living in tribes governed by a single leader known as a Jarl and chosen by combat, who then represents that tribe in the Taygon. They have adopted modern weapons but will usually still be trained in some sort of medieval weapon. All challenges for Jarl are made using only medieval weapons.

When the Qyor showed up in 2170, the many governments of Earth joined together and formed the United Earth, a government that was meant to bring unification to what humans thought would be a major threat to the race. It was made as a Republic, and all governments had several elected officials to join a Senate. The Senate then elected a President from their midst to be their voice. In the Senate, things are decided upon the majority of vote. The President doesn't necessarily have any more authority than the Senators; He's mostly just the face of the Senate.
Military
Earths Navy, the Interstellar Naval Corp. was created shortly after the Qlodath attacked. The Corp. has a Grand Admiral in charge of everything, answering directly to The Senate. Under the Grand Admiral is one Fleet Admiral per fleet. A fleet isn't huge, but each one contains ten Capital Ships, as well as other smaller ships. Each fleet has a Flagship that the Fleet Admiral commands, and the other nine capital ships are commanded by regular Admirals. The Interstellar Naval Corp. has employed thousands of humans of all naval ranks.
Earths ground force, the Sol Guard was created after the Interstellar Naval Corp. as there was a need for soldiers who were trained specifically for ground combat. It's split up into divisions, which each have one High General. The High Generals work directly under The Senate and the Grand Admiral of the Navy. The Sol Guard will be the ones to perform planetary invasions, but during times where nothing like that is happening, they will defend United Earth's territory.
Economy
The United Earth's economy isn't the greatest, but it has seen worse days. When United Earth was created, they also created a worldwide currency, the ECredit. The ECredit stands well against other governements currencies.
Social Standing
Although the United Earth is relatively new in the galactic setting, they have already made sevevral friends, their closest being the Qyor Federation. Overall, United Earth tries to stay neutral towards other races if they wont become full allies.

The Taygon is made up of representatives voted in by the people. Each region is granted so many representatives based on the amount of people living there. Among the Shayla tribes their Jarl is representative in the Taygon. The Taygon makes the laws for the world and the people.

Gizhan defense force, the people of Gizhan have stopped their intergalactic exploration and live primarily on their own world. The military they have is just enough to defend themselves from other races and protect their merchant ships. Each citizen of Gizhan is required to serve two years in the military. This service is often deferred for a few years for those choosing to seek higher education but must be completed upon completion of schooling.
Economy
The planet of Gizhan is a trading hub being well placed in the universe between many of the space traveling races. They use their planet as a warehouse and trading hub for goods from around the universe.
Social Standing
The people of Gizhan are seen as a necessary evil, they have safe ports that can be used by any race willing to pay for it. Overall people don't have any problems with them aside from seeing them as greedy capitalist. Though that opinion is mostly limited to the Grizhoni. The Shayla tend to be merchants themselves traveling across the universe selling and trading goods before making use of the lower fees at the Gizhan trading ports that all citizens get. Most other races see the Shayla as boisterous and loud but fair people. The Shayla will never renege on a deal and expect their business partners to do the same. It isn't wise to cross a Shayla as they are ruthless when they have been wronged. Those that cross a Shayla merchant and live to tell about it are often blacklisted from the trading hubs.

Fairly advanced, the people of Gizhan focus their technology on space travel for their merchant ships and, their trade hubs. The Grizhoni have perfected a method of storage that digitizes material to be stored in data cubes. It can take a fifteen by fifteen foot container of grain and digitize it into a data cube a quarter of the size to a five by five cube. The cubes require massive amounts of power to maintain the digitization and can only house non-living material. The data cubes are rarely seen off world as ships do not have the power capacity to run them.

History: Shortly after discovering space travel the Grizhoni set out into the universe making treaties with many of the other advanced alien races. As for the non-advanced races they searched the planets looking for a suitable work force, not being build for hard labor they needed a race who could do the heavy lifting. They found that in the humans and abducted an entire village of people, taking them back to Grizhan to work their lands, machines and even serve in their military. The Grizhoni and human slaves had a good relationship for thousands of years despite it being a master / slave relationship. That was until a group of Grizhoni campaigned for equal rights for humans and Shayla. It took many years but finally the Shay activists won out freeing all Shays. There was a period where humans and Shayla were seen as second class citizens but as time moved on and more of Grizhoni and Shayla intermixed the prejudice against the Shayla disappeared. Now working together the Grizhoni and Shayla strive to build a massive trading industry that supports the two races. Most Grizhoni tend to remain planet side working in the trading hubs and warehouses while most Shayla prefer life in space aboard the Gizhan merchant ships.

-Rule 3 This is a mature roleplay, but I have a line I don't want crossed. When doing something mature, do not over-describe it. As for sex, there may be times when your character wants to bang an alien, and that's perfectly fine(Of course, you can bang humans too.). But I don't want any details of that activity. Use fade-to-black or any other methods of censorship. Please and thank you.
-Rule 4 You guys will have many opportunities to Co-GM a mission if that is something you want to do. In that case, you will be given some power to make things happen, but if I feel you are abusing it, it will be taken away.
-Rule 5 For the most part, this will be an open-world roleplay, but I may tie an overall campaign in. If I decide I want to do something like that, no big decisions will be made without asking for your guys' opinions on it. I may be the GM, but I'm not going to do anything to affect the story like that without getting your opinions first.
-Rule 6 IC posts should be kept at a minimum of one decent-sized paragraph. No max.
-Rule 7 In the IC thread, there wont be a specific post order, so you can feel free to post when you have someone to respond to, but be considerate of your fellow players. If three(or more) people are in a specific group chatting and whatnot, try to wait for the other two(+) to post before posting again. Also, no spamming. At an absolute minimum, there needs to be at least one post before you post again.
-Rule 8 I reserve the right to add or remove rules as I see fit. I will announce any changes in the rules.
