    Synopsis

It has been roughly one-hundred-and-ten days, sixteen hours, twenty-five minutes, and thirteen seconds since the planet was forgotten by mankind.

Ever since the planet was forgotten, all of those who trek upon its chaotic terrain must fend off its incoming invasions. We've barely made it by with the scraps that were found from before the fall. But I fear that we are unprepared for what's to come. Though, I must admit that I haven't even given the full picture.

    Chapter A-000: Deus lo Vult

The comforts of humanity, within the confines of metaphysical doubt, produce the finest of metaphorical wine. Yes, the purest nature of humanity is fear. They fear what they do not see, they fear what they cannot comprehend, and they fear what they cannot anticipate; to which is the antithesis of human anxiety.

Among the spark towers of Nomitr's concrete jungle, the prancing of bodies move to and fro in a seamless dance of daily life within the 33rd century. More so, that the peoples of which call the planet home are at the mercy of corporate titans who control the world's very own industry, military, and healthcare. Other aspects of the planet's very own infrastructure are left to the smaller corporate organizations that aim to reach the Table of Titans. Aside from the like bee-like busybodies that gaunt the planet's private sector, one of the titans, Suntech Services, stands paramount to all other titans at the table. Their means of controlling any given subsidiary, such as Ultrafarer-DayCo Syndicate; Komatsu Banking; or Black Hole Industries, is almost borderline corporate espionage. Rumors would have been made that the board of directors of Suntech Services are demons made flesh by the financial bigwigs of the sector-at-large. They are uncanny in their ability to adapt the stock market of the sector-at-large, and are always the ones to see to it that their products as well as subsidiaries are well taken care of. It'd seem that they did not want any sort of loose-end keeping them floating down the golden river. They want all the gold they could swallow.

Though with financial depositions aside Head Director of the Board and CEO, Gui Muraviov, stood idlely by as he watched the city of Domsk move on without him. He watched as gravcars, propelled by the gravity-plates built into the bottom of the vehicle, zip by creating a low hum that rattled the window oh-so-gently. The very sound, of which he picked up with his own ears, made him smile with a devilishly glee. He knew which engineering company had produced that particularly model of gravcar, and he knew even further who owned that particular company. Surely, in his devilishly appeal, he would never forget which titan owns that company for it is not him who owns that company. "Though it is Tanaka Mechanics who made the gravcar, and one of the other titans own that disgusting company."

He'd take a long drag of a cigarette and heave out a greyish-white cloud of smoke.

"And that's supposed to impress me Head Director?" A female voice spoke up with a cynical tone. The woman, who had been watching him the entire time, sat at a seat just adjacent to the window he was standing at. Her physique would compare that to a foot soldier; as if someone who had been fighting on the frontlines for a little over a decade. Although, her beauty would strike anyone as impressive for fighting for so long. However, she would beg to differ.

"No," he heaved another puff of smoke, "Of course not Director Jones. However, at least understand my position when I say that I know every titan and who they own in terms of subsidiaries. I even know their total credit-value, ha!" He'd take his seat at the fifteen foot, crescent, wooden desk pulling up reports on the desk-placed holographic computer. He would flick his finger to the right, to the left, and then to the right again; as if searching for someone or something.

She'd sigh with discontent, "What'd you call me in here for? I have a security detail that needs training and none of my senior officers are present. So make it quick will ya?"

He settled the cigarette into a constructed ashtray that would destruct after he pulled his hand away from the area of sensory. "I've called you in to talk about a particular site one of our archaeological companies had found."

"What do you mean?" She'd raise a brow at the hook.

"Well," he'd flick through a few more slides before stopping on a report sent in by that company, "I've received a information from them about three days ago and what's on the report is startlingly exciting." He'd press a button that would flip the information in her direction so she could read what's being displayed before her.

What she read was that this company, Frontier Systems, had found forgotten ruins upon the tomb-world Ortov. These ruins seem to be radiating an element that hasn't been entirely discovered yet. There were only small reports and articles possibly about a dangerous new element that, if controlled properly, could replicate the Scream. "Breyrium?!"

Head Director Muraviov nodded with that same devilish smile, "They've found traces of Breyrium within the inner systems of the ruins. I've already called some construction companies to head to Ortov and use this team's findings to pinpoint where exactly this Breyrium is."

"Don't you understand how dangerous that element is?!" She'd look at him with a furious look, "If you unearth Breyrium and any of the other titans find out about this, there could be war on this damn planet!"

"That," he'd point his index finger at her, "Is why I've employed a little bit of security.."

She'd narrow her eyes at him, almost seemingly suspicious of him.

Chapter A-001: Couriers in the Dark

Even though breaking through the Exosphere and entering the Thermosphere was the easiest part of orbital insertion, it hadn't been long until three specific drop-pods began to experience the heating of which any object entering a planet's atmosphere would always do.

However the instance with this planet is that the atmosphere is almost gone.

The fauna, which had kept the cellular process of maintaining an atmosphere, had roughly disappeared by 83% according to most survey-scanners. Other, technologically inferior, survey-scanners propose that the fauna that was thriving on this planet ceased to exist. If that were the case, then there shouldn't be a thin atmosphere creating the friction these pods were undergoing.

Although with the technological inferiority of survey-scanners aside, the three pods, after roughly thirty seconds to a minute, reached the Mesosphere and then eventually the Troposphere kicking up even more friction as this area, between the two atmospheres, was where asteroids become meteors. The three occupants of the pods slammed a greenish-blue button that activated the heat-shielding upon the bottom of the pods. There was a rumble and then perhaps a stutter as the orbital turbulence was becoming more bothersome with each passing second.

Eventually, the three occupants had to press a reddish button that activated anti-gravity nodes that were tucked away within the four corners of the pod's spherical square shape. Once the nodes were extended out from their corners, and the lids that hid them opened, a purple light, similar to black-lights, were seen as they emitted a low hum that would only be audible to the most sensible of ears. These nodes, with its low hum, slowed the descent of the pods and had landed them safely within marked craters that were filled with the waters of radiation enriched soil.

The pods locked themselves into these craters, and what resulted was the kicking up of water and soil. This had led the entire crater being cleared of the radioactive material and the crater being completely clear of any sort of debris. Now with the pods locked onto the planet's crust, the forward hatch of the pod ejected. The hatch was sent flying into the wall of the crater causing a disruption of dirt and other sediments.

What emerged from these pods were three heavily armored warriors seemingly prepared for all-out war. However, war will not come this day as war is not the subject of these warriors' attention. Instead they seem to be interested in protecting someone or something.

"We've landed on the planet Spectre-0," radioed a particular gentleman garbed in one of those heavy suits, "Moving to rendezvous ."

    "Copy that Alpha-1. Spectre-0, out."

The voice that spoke from within these heaving suits was an Arabian fellow by the name of Ismail Hassan. Ismail, and the two other hulking pieces of futuristic armor, is part of a three-man team known as Alpha-Centuri. From the name alone, one could suggest that this would be a military team designation, but they would surely be mistaken for Alpha-Centuri operates under the Razorbacks. The Razorbacks are a well known mercenary legion among the stars, and so to have their business here is surely unsurprising to say the least.

"Corporal Hassan to Specialist Sato, do you copy? Over."

"Affirmative Corporal," a robotic female voice spoke from the other end.

"Private First Class Nikitin, do you copy? Over."

"Yeah, yeah I'm readin' ya," said a more grumpier voice from the other end.

"Good," replied Corporal Hassan opening the channel to the both of them, "You remember our mission?"

"Affirmative Corporal, we are to rendezvous with Frontier Systems' 11th Excavation Team and provide security detail."

"Correct, now our destination is 15 klicks north-northeast. We don't have much time before the sun sets on the planet, and what we know about this tomb-world is that it isn't entirely uninhabited. So let's just keep the pace and make sure we get to our destination in time. Pack up your gear and move out."

There was a roger from PFC Nikitin and a affirmative from Spec. Sato. Thus, all three of them prepared themselves for the fifteen kilometer (nine mile) trek to their destination. One would see that Corporal Hassan would take out a double-barreled shotgun, an advance assault rifle, and a double-sided axe from a sort of glove compartment on the outside of the pod. One would also see Spec. Sato pull out an autocannon and PFC Nikitin pull out a rocket-launcher and heavy machine gun. These weapon, although a bit much for this sort of mission, was the trademark for each individual. What can be said about Corporal Hassan is that he's been branded the leader of this team ever since the higher echelons of the Razorbacks allowed him to create the team; he even chose whom he would work with. Sato is controlled AI who's own primary directive is to work under Corporal Hassan and provide whatever he needs. Nikitin on the other hand is the loose cannon of the team, and had always seem to be the primary cause of their suicide missions. But, Corporal Hassan can't bring himself to kick him from the team as he's just too much fun to be around.

However with personal interest aside, the three members of Alpha-Centuri climbed their way out of their premade craters and onto the planet's surface where the wind was blowing up dead soil (or dead anything for that matter).

They'd see each other from afar and would gather at a central point, of which was a crossroads (or what was left of it), exchange a bit of banter about what it was like to live on this world before it became a tomb-world, and then eventually find the initiative to move on to their intended destination; with something watching them from the shadows.

    Chapter A-002: Ambient Silence

『Rolling Athletics for Corporal Hassan, Specialist Sato, and Private First Class Nikitin』
    『Corporal Ismail Hassan - 2d6+3 - (1+1) + 3 = 5 (FAILURE)』
    『Specialist Sato - 2d6-1 - (2+5) + -1 = 6 (PARTIAL SUCCESS)』
    『Private First Class Oleg Nikitin - 2d6+1 - (1+5) + 1 = 7 (SUCCESS)』

Traveling to their destined location proved to be a difficult task, especially when they're traversing a forgotten tomb world. What was presented before them was a lack of physical terrain. What that meant was that every few hundred meters they'd find themselves standing before a massive chasm that had sliced a deep gash into the earth. These chasms, of which was no problem to Private First Class Oleg Nikitin, presented an even greater trouble for the rest of the team. They were traveling at a fairly decent speed, however, and had traded maneuverability for speed. They needed to get to their destination before the double star, that peeked in between the dense smog within the atmosphere every so often, had set leaving pure darkness to be the friend of this team.

Though with two-thirds of the team lagging behind, the speed was traded with maneuverability leaving the team to meet the friend that was pitch-black darkness. This forced the three-man team to activate their inboard lighting systems internally and externally. The lights, themselves, were almost eerily similar to the kind of lights found on a wet-vessel. These very lights pierced the darkness revealing the fog-ridden terrain that was laid out before them. Although with these lights piercing that darkness, the fog that had settled in (seemingly from no where) had caused visibility to be rendered only several feet in every direction. Where they looked they could barely see what was in front of them, and this was a call to attention.

"Sato, Nik," Corporal Hassan slowly came to a stop before a small two-story building, "Regroup. We'll settle here for the night as our scanners can't seem to map out the terrain correctly."

"Well that's just great," chimed PFC Nikitin, "Why can't we keep moving? There's obviously a-less-than-straight-shot to our destination, but we can make it there. We're only about three klicks out. Can't we make radio contact with them?"

Specialist Sato moved up to Corporal Hassan's left and peered into the building's ground floor, "We would need to set up a mobile communications network for this planet's communication satellites, that create the network, was damaged during an initial skirmish after the Blood Wars. So without stable communication with the excavation team, we cannot make contact with them with the equipment we have now."

『Rolling Perception Wisdom Check for Specialist Sato』
    『Specialist Sato - 2d6-1 - (5+2) + -1 = 6 (PARTIAL SUCCESS)』

Oleg would kick up some dust as he pondered this fact.

Meanwhile, Sato was investigating the ground floor of the two-story building and found nothing out of the ordinary. She saw that this used to be a cafe that seemed to have been placed on the corner of an intersection. However, that was all she could gather from her findings and thought that it was relatively safe but was on guard taking into consideration what the corporal had said earlier in the journey.

Some time would past and the three-man team would find themselves on the second-story of the small building watching their surroundings while also having a bit of downtime fun. Oleg and Ismail were playing an advance version of Texas Holdem where by taking some of the cards from their hand to a degraded table and sliding them to the left or to the right to signify whether the card was in play.

『Rolling an Opposed Gambling Charisma for Corporal Ismail Hassan and Private First Class Oleg Nikitin』
    『Corporal Ismail Hassan - 2d6 - ( 2 + 1 ) = 3 (CONTESTED)』
    『Private First Class Oleg Nikitin - 2d6 - ( 1 + 3 ) = 4 (CONTESTED)』
『Winner is Private First Class Oleg Nikitin』

With the two them being surprisingly horrific at the game, Oleg came out on top. What happened was that as Ismail had three Queens of three different types and a Ace of Triangles in his hand, Oleg had departed a certain card from his hand to the table and slid it to the right; signifying that it was in play. The card was the infamous Five of Squares, and the thing about the Five of Squares was that in the rules, as stated by the corporation who adapted the game from its classical counterpart, the Five of Squares, when placed in the hand of the player, can trump any other card of 6 or higher; even the queens and aces. This meant that since Ismail didn't know Oleg had a Five of Squares in his hand and had put it in play, he pretty much released the cards from his hand proclaiming that he had won, but Oleg was a step ahead of him and had flipped the card over revealing the Five of Squares to him. Thus leaving Oleg to take a couple hundred credit-sticks that they had wagered at the beginning of the game, and had left Ismail feeling stupid and frustrated at his loss.

Aside from the terrible and awfully played game of Texas Holdem, Sato was downstairs watching the front entrance. Her unwavering synthetic eyes slowly scanned the entrance for any possible movement.

『Rolling Perception Wisdom Check for Specialist Sato』
    『Specialist Sato - 2d6-1 - ( 3 + 5 ) + -1 = 7 (SUCCESS)』

Sure enough, after about twenty to twenty-five minutes of patrolling, she would spot a smallish figure scurry just beyond the lights that peered into the fog outside. She lifted up her (AC-R8 mk.II) autocannon and slowly stepped through what was left of the cafe towards the front entrance. Though as she did this, she immediately radioed the two men upstairs. "Hassan, Nik," she'd pause as she heard something crash into a metal surface just outside, "We have a problem.."

    BGM
    Chapter A-003: Emancipate the Weaklings

『Rolling Initiative for Corporal Hassan, Specialist Sato, and Private First Class Nikitin』
    『Corporal Ismail Hassan - 2d6+3 - (2+1) + 3 = 6 (INITIATIVE)』
    『Specialist Sato - 2d6 - (3+4) = 7 (INITIATIVE)』
    『Private First Class Oleg Nikitin - 2d6+1 - (4+6) + 1 = 11 (INITIATIVE)』

Upon hearing the emergency made by Sato, Oleg immediately reached for his (MR-22) Mag Rifle and rushed forward down the open staircase; using the railing as a means of a speedy response.

『Rolling Initiative for Glitterwasp Horde (no.3)』
    『Glitterwasp Horde - 2d6+8 - (3+6) + 8 = 17 (INITIATIVE)』

However, when Oleg reached the bottom of the staircase three large insect-like creatures emerged from the front windows of the cafe and crashed into several tables that surrounded the front; causing a massive eruption of decayed wood and dust. The insect-like creatures resembled wasps more than any other creature known to man, and these creatures had talons that were similar to its stinger; dripping with a mysterious substance that seemed to resemble a sort of poison.

"Glitterwasps!" Oleg immediately opened fire with his mag rifle upon the nearest one, hoping to land a hit on the creature.

『Rolling Attack for Oleg Nikitin against Glitterwasp C』
    『Mag Rifle - 1d20+7 - (16) + 7 = 23 (HIT)』

『Rolling Damage for Oleg Nikitin against Glitterwasp C』
    『Mag Rifle - 2d8+2 - (6+7) + 2 = 15 (DAMAGE)』

The first couple rounds hit their mark, penetrating the Glitterwasp's hard exoskeleton. The second round, of which was a more accurate shot, zipped through the air leaving the magnetic railing that was the mag rifle and found its destination within the skull of the Glitterwasp (seeing the first shot disabled the winged insect). The insect went limp as it fluttered into the wall to its right; bleeding a greenish-purple color.

『Glitterwasp C is Dead, but more Glitterwasps will reinforce in two rounds』

"Tango down!" Oleg screamed as he immediately prepared for the other two.

Though as Oleg prepared for the other two, Sato immediately prepared her Autocannon for fire mission. "Requesting Fire Mission!"

"Request granted," Ismail said over the radio as he was getting his weapon squared away, "Fire at will!"

『Rolling Attack for Sato against Glitterwasp A』
    『Autocannon - 1d20+7 - (1) + 7 = 8 (MISS)』

As the autocannon released an intense round of high-impact ballistics, the Glitterwasp in question flutters out of the path of the weapon's attack. The Glitterwasp sticks to the ceiling of the cafe causing Sato to turn her attention to the insect, whilst ignoring the other.

Meanwhile, Ismail finally finds himself at the foot of the staircase where Oleg is preparing his shot and Sato is dealing with a ceiling-crawling insectoid. 'Shit.. This isn't good,' he thought as he took his shot at the Glitterwasp that wasn't airborne or wasn't on the ceiling. He growled beneath his powered helmet expending all his energy into these rounds.

『Rolling Attack for Ismail Hassan against Glitterwasp B』
    『(Modified) Advance Assault Rifle - 1d20+9 - (2) + 9 = 11 (MISS)』

Though Ismail wasn't as quick as he'd hope on the trigger, and as a result the Glitterwasp fluttered into the air beating its wings at a speed unheard of to science. It was now airborne, and it was now gunning for him.

『Rolling Attack for Glitterwasp B against Ismail Hassan』
    『Stinger - 1d20+8 - (11) + 8 = 19 (MISS)』

However Ismail was quick in this regard, and had side-stepped the pouncing Glitterwasp as it came soaring towards him. The wasp-like insect slammed itself into the staircase behind him, and with this was dazed as a result. Ismail and Oleg looked at each other as the other Glitterwasp prepared a pounce attack on Sato.

    『Rolling Attack for Glitterwasp A against Sato』
    『Stinger - 1d20+8 - (19) + 8 = 27 (HIT)』

    『Rolling Damage for Glitterwasp A against Sato』
    『Stinger - 1d6 - (4) = 4 (DAMAGE)』

The talon-stinger found its mark penetrating Sato's powered armor and digging itself into her right shoulder. She grunted in frustration as the Glitterwasp continued to dig into her shoulder; refusing to let go of her.

"SATO," Oleg screamed at the top his voice as he fired a round at the wasp that was on top of her.

『Rolling Attack for Oleg Nikitin against Glitterwasp A』
    『Mag Rifle - 1d20+7 - (7) + 7 = 14 (MISS)』

Twas it a futile attempt as the Glitterwasp aborted its domination of Sato and fluttered back into the air to prepare itself for another pounce. "DAMN THESE BUGS!!"

Sato, reeling in the fact that her motor skills have been disabled for the time being, aimed her Autocannon upward at the Glitterwasp and fired off a round.

『Rolling Attack for Sato against Glitterwasp A』
    『Autocannon - 1d20+7 - (16) + 7 = 23 (HIT)』

『Rolling Damage for Sato against Glitterwasp A』
    『Stinger - 3d8 - (3+1+7) = 11 (DAMAGE)』

    『Glitterwasp A HP - (12-11) = 1』
    『Sato HP - (12-4) = 8』

The round had deeply penetrated the bug's exoskeleton and had chipped a wing causing it to fall to the marbled floor with a thud. Thus, the bug was screeching in pain as it writhed on the ground. Ismail looked at the writhing creature and immediately fired his weapon to put it out of its misery.

『Rolling Attack for Ismail Hassan against Glitterwasp A』
    『(Modified) Advance Assault Rifle - 1d20+9 - (1) + 9 = 10 (MISS)』

Through sheer coincidence, or perhaps divine intervention, Ismail was not able to put it out of its misery. Instead, what ended up happening was that as Ismail was prepared to take its life, he was suddenly tackled through a wall by the sudden appearance of another Glitterwasp. (He suffers 4 Damage as a result)

    『Glitterwasp A HP - (12 - 11) = 1 』
    『Sato HP - (12 - 4) = 8 』
    『Ismail HP - (24 - 4) = 20 』

"Dammit five more inbound," Oleg said as he immediately began to pull Sato through the wall that was created by Ismail's body and led outside, "We are right on top of a Glitterwasp nest! Retreat, retreat!"
