The King did not turn to look at the scout. “Report?” His voice was deep and commanding, but held a hint of deep respect for the individual kneeling before him.
”The Goblins, sire. They um-” He was unsure of his next words, hesitance in his voice. He lingered on his thoughts for a moment too long.
”Report, scout!” Zalan turned his head slightly so that he could see the scout out of his peripheral.
”The Goblins have overrun the south wall, sire!” His voice quivered, and he placed his forehead to the floor to show deep respect and to beg for mercy.
”They have never managed to overrun any of our walls. Which clan was it? Grubbug, Tarfire?” His voice echoed deep disgust for uttering those words.
The scout looked up, terror in his eyes. ”A-all of them, sire!”
The King wheeled, facing the scout with a deep concern on his face. ”How many casualties? How many injured? What is the status of the guard? The Goblin horde?” His voice betrayed a hint of terror.
”No casualties, sire. They are continuing this way with a fervent pace. They don’t seem to be attacking us, sire, but merely… running from something. They speak of a Akukkai, whatever that is.”
The King lets out a horrified sigh. ”Send word to the other races. Tell them the Promethean Beasts are reawakening.”
”Just our allies, sire?” The elf scout stood as he spoke, ready to perform his duties.
”No Narail, all of them. Even our enemies.” The King let out a small prayer to the Kinae as the scout departed.
The Promethean Beasts, ancient terrors with the power to destroy even the gods, are reawakening. Sealed below the earth over a thousand years ago, their prisons are beginning to fail. The races of Aerith struggle to set aside rivalries as they fervently prepare for a war they are almost sure to lose. Even those that have lost all faith in the gods now find themselves praying for help to come. Their prayers are not unheard, but the very extended presence of a deity on the mortal realm is enough to damage reality. However, one of half-mortal heritage is free to walk the world of mortals. The gods begin to visit their lost children in dreams, visions, or even for small moments in reality, unlocking their hidden divine heritage.

I would rather have a russet coated Captain who knows what he fights for and loves what he knows, than he who calls himself a gentleman and is but little else

War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse.
-John Stuart Mill
There is no instance of a nation benefiting from prolonged warfare.
-Sun Tzu
Ten soldiers wisely led will beat a hundred without a head.
-Euripides
It seems like such a terrible shame that innocent civilians have to get hurt in wars, otherwise combat would be such a wonderfully healthy way to rid the human race of unneeded trash.
-Fred Woodworth
It is our duty still to endeavor to avoid war; but if it shall actually take place, no matter by whom brought on, we must defend ourselves. If our house be on fire, without inquiring whether it was fired from within or without, we must try to extinguish it.
-Thomas Jefferson
If a man dedicates his life to good deeds and the welfare of others, he will die unthanked and unremembered. If he exercises his genius bringing misery and death to billions, his name will echo down through the millennia for a hundred lifetimes. Infamy is always more preferable to ignominy.

Spoiler: Thoughts of the day
A broad mind lacks focus.
A questioning servant is more dangerous than an ignorant heretic
A small mind is easily filled with faith.
A warrior's faith in his commander is his best armour and his strongest weapon.
Adamantium walls and plasteel bulkheads may seem formidable, but an unshakable faith in the Immortal Emperor of Man can overcome any barriers.
An Empty Mind Is A Loyal Mind
An open mind is like a fortress with its gate unbarred and unguarded.
Better crippled in body than corrupt in mind.
Consider the Predator. Let your soul be armoured with Faith, driven on the tracks of Obedience which overcome all obstacles, and armed with the three great guns of Zeal, Duty and Purity.
Facts are chains that bind perception and fetter truth. For a man can remake the world if he has a dream and no facts to cloud his mind.
Faith without deeds is worthless.
Happiness is a delusion of the weak
Forgiveness is a sign of weakness.
He who lives for nothing is nothing. He who dies for the Emperor is a hero.
If a man dies that another should live, that man's spirit shall eat at the Emperor's table
Innocence proves nothing
It is better to die for the Emperor than to live for yourself.
Leniency is a sign of weakness!
Mercy is a sign of weakness.
No man that died in the Emperor's service died in vain.
Nobody is innocent, there are merely varying levels of guilt.
Only in death does duty end.
Only the insane have strength enough to prosper. Only those who prosper may truly judge what is sane.
Pain is an illusion of the senses, despair an illusion of the mind
Purge those who are unclean.
Sometimes the good must perish so that the rest survive. The lot of courage is to be sacrificed upon the altar of battle.
Survival is no birthright, but a prize wrested from an uncaring galaxy by forgotten heroes.
The common man is like a worm in the gut of a corpse, trapped inside a prison of cold flesh, helpless and uncaring, unaware even of the inevitability of its own doom.
The Emperor will not judge you by your medals and diplomas but by your scars.
Though silver in your palms weighs light
Compared to death by blast and sword,
Do not shy the hopeless fight,
For endeavour is its own reward.
Name: Lysander Velos
Race: Merfolk
Gender: Male
Age: 38
Height: 5’9
Weight: 188 lbs
Hair: A crest of fins
Eyes: Sapphire Blue
Appearance: Lysander has cool blue skin, sapphire eyes and a crest of silver fins. He has a calm, reassuring demeanour. He dislikes being away from water, and therefore it usually rains wherever he goes to keep him from drying.
Spoiler: Lysander
Occupation: Teacher
Pantheon: The Coriss Pantheon
Divine Heritage: Sandfin, God of Community and the Riverbed
Purviews: Rain, Healing
Spoiler: Powers
Tranquil Waters ** - Lysander can create rain at will, in a large area. This rain brings peace of mind and serenity to those in its radius. It can calm anger, quell hatred, and relax anxiety, stress, or sadness. Lysander can use this rain as a conduit for his second power. The rain is always cool and refreshing, regardless of air temperature. In the area of effect, he can suppress other weather effects. Lysander can also transmute any liquid into pure rainwater by touching it.
Renewer *** - Lysander has a powerful healing ability. He is able to heal even the most grievous of wounds with a touch. He can furthermore remove negative effects on victims, such as diseases and poisons. This ability can also cure long-term impairments like blindness, but cannot dispel magical effects like enchantments or magical fear. He is able to use this ability over a large area but to a slightly lesser degree by using the rain as its conduit.
Skills: Lysander is very wise, and knows a great deal about history, geography, and the other races. He is accomplished with medicine. He is a confident weaver, particularly when weaving nets. He has a naturally calming and reassuring presence - and for this reason people often find themselves trusting him. He is also extremely perceptive and intuitive, able to notice things that most others cannot.
Armor: Lysander wears no armour, simply practical, waterproof clothing.
Weapons: Lysander carries no weapons, refusing to take another life.
Gear: A satchel containing a simple knife for cutting rope, a number of books, maps and charts. A few vials of rainwater.

I really like this, but I do have a question about purviews v.s. magic. If I wanted to make a mage-based character would I only get two kinds of spells with the purview/power setup or is that something different?
