    Default Ghost Blade Codex

    OOC

    IC

This will be basically the thread I will update with information as it comes up in the world of how things work, what things are, or when things happened. I will update it as things come up because I am slowly working on building this world. For now is the first entry.

Aurahky and the Blades they Made
The Sanctum for a long time was losing a battle against the demons who came from another dimension. The demons used magic and while humans used Magatama stones that helped them cast magic, the Sanctum could not and would not last long against the demons who attacked them and killed them.

Till Humans came upon the discovery of Essence. It was what gave the Demons their magic. Some Humans had more Essence than others and those were casters able to cast from stones. Essence was the saving grace of the Sanctum.

At first Human Demon Hunters wielded weapons of basic Essence. Mostly made from the demons they killed and while it held off the demons for a while, they needed more power and needed more strength to keep the Sanctum running and keep people alive.

The Casters who once stood beside their fellow Demon Hunters volunteered themselves, at first, to use their essence to fuse their Souls into weapons and eventually into power. The volunteers and the children born into the program were called the Aurahky.

While the Sanctum runs on generators, those generators run more efficiently now using the Soul Essence extracted from the Aurahky. Daily the Aurahky sit even further below the underground city, being extracted of their Essence. Many die during the process as it is the most effective way to gain essence. While others are exhausted to near death, till they recover their Essence.

The Sanctum enforcement has also been known to use Demon hostages as a way to power the Sanctum without the citizens knowing about it. It’s mostly kept a secret among the public. Yet the Aurahky seem to be the main source and because of 200 years of being influenced by the way this world works, it seems the Aurahky and Demi-Fiends are becoming separate chains of Human development.

    Terminology 1: Infused

Weapons are not sharpened, nor do they need to be maintained in the way ordinary weapons might need to be maintained. A good demon hunter will often times power up their weapons by Infusing them with more Essence.

    NPC Sheet

    Kaja
    Pronunciation: Kah-Jah

    Apparent Age: 25-28

    Gender: Male

He was beautiful to look at, perhaps maybe too beautiful. So beautiful in fact it offended every one of your senses. His hair was wispy, like a cloud, it didn’t just move like hair, it moved unnaturally like it was moving through the air, or some kind of aura. The curly hair moved like waves through some kind of energy and his skin was iridescent. Snow white and pale, with a slight glow.

His eyes were a harsh color of lavender that sparkled like gems and seemed to have essence bubble up in the fluid like sparkling diamonds that would fade into the ether. But his pupils were otherwise normal. He wore an elaborate display of flowing fabric in a design that seemed foreign to the Sanctum’s choice of fashion. As if he had over the years adapted his own style.

“How are you even this beautiful?”

“My mother was very pretty too,”

    “What about your father?”

“I didn’t take after him much”

His voice was soft and sweet, if petaling blossoms could speak, then you were certain Kaja sounded like petaling, blooming flowers. His soft spoken, gentle, almost shy nature brushed across the back of your synapses like someone putting a comforting smooth hand on your cheek. He felt warm, like a brother to all.

He wasn’t very tall, though probably taller than Reyis, then again everyone else might be taller than Reyis. Standing at 5’7” he was elegant and graceful despite the jerking spasms he tended to experience from time to time.

    Personality:

Kaja is compassionate, but logical. While he often engages himself in situations that gauge his sympathy and empathy, he does not simply sit on an emotion and feel it. He seems to be able to analyze and perceive it as well.

He does not backup anything he feels without some form of rational planning as well. Kaja is not the type of person to simply behave or react simply based on his emotions, but based on the best outcome from a situation that has impact how he feels on a certain topic.

Kaja is often gentle, he chooses his words with care, he chooses his words with tact, and he chooses them with heart as well. He is soft spoken and shy, but his shyness shouldn’t be taken that he doesn’t want to talk to people. Merely he finds it difficult to do so and people can be so draining on him.

It is because he chooses logical compassion that has made the Aurahky look up to him as a leader. It’s why they put such trust in his words and such weight into them because Kaja is not just kind, but wise. He seems wiser than his own years appearing even older than what he may look.

Kaja should not be underestimated though. He does have a limit eventually, while he may have a long fuse, once that fuse is lit Kaja is no longer the kind and sympathetic individual. While he honors justice and mercy, once you have burned your bridges with him you will no longer receive his protection or his respect.

Kaja is a very honorable person and respects those who honor him back. He does not appreciate those who are unkind to others, or unkind to him, especially when he has done something to help them.

And while he is rarely seen as an angry individual, he is not technically the type of person you want to anger because he seems relatively calm. He doesn’t blow up unless it is something that greatly conflicts with his morality.

    Major Skills:

Sword Dancer - While Kaja may appear as a meek leader who’s kind and compassionate heart is something to guide him, few forget the skills his mother taught him when she was alive. A sword dancer is not just a skilled swordsman, it’s someone who uses their sword with a mixture of acrobatic moves, choreographed dancing, and swift elegant movements. Kaja’s mother was said to move so efficiently it seemed she was moving through a completely different plane than that of any other skilled swordsman.

Essence Reading - While it seems like an ability or power, anyone can learn to read the essence of another. Kaja can determine the alignment of an individual simply based on the type of essence that surrounds them. Whether or not he shares this information though is up to him and whether he trust the individual or not. Though he is gladly teach others this unique skill as well, as his mother had taught him before.

Spiritual Guider - Kaja does not simply speak to an individual, he seems to speak to them spiritually as well. He does not simply guide them with wise words and advice, he seems to guide them from their soul as well. He doesn’t just speak to them from the ears to the brain, but to the deeper parts of their inner soul.

    Minor Skills:

Wise Listening - Kaja isn’t just a good listener, he has learned to listen beyond that. Just as he may not be talking to someone, but through someone. He listens to someone not from them, but within them.

Demonolgy - Since more and more Demi-Fiends have become demon hunters, Kaja is the only person who has reached out to them to assist them with their contracts. Because of this Kaja is one of the few people who can be someone they may go to for information about certain demons and information about them.

Mediation - Kaja has learned that there are some conflicts that cannot be simply won through bravado or flaring tempers. Instead Kaja tends to try and calm down both parties before settling with the conflict at hand in a much calmer way that addresses both parties concerns.

    Weapon:

    Peace Striker

*See Personal Appearance for his Blade

The Peace Striker is a sleek, straight bladed weapon that is the last heart and soul of his mother. When his mother passed on, he had the last of her Soul Essence Infuse the blade that he uses to strike down the heart of injustice and immorality.

The Peace Striker hungers for the souls and the blood of the unjust, the vile, and the deceitful. It is not just a weapon of violence, but a weapon that maintains order and law through any means is wielder defines for it.

The Peace Striker is a blade of soul and light and tends to strike Berserker alignments and Chaotic alignments with a bit more bite. Not just slicing them, but completing annihilating their existence with a strike of blinding, bewildering light that lust for the blood of those harbor dark intent in their Demonic Essence.

    Weaknesses:

Shyness - For a leader of the people, Kaja is not entirely out spoken. He’s shy and timid, which portrays him as a lot weaker than he may actually be. Kaja has difficulty talking to new people who haven’t earned his trust or his degree of comfortability that some others might. While Kaja may not be hiding in corners in tunnels any more, he easily shies away from social interaction until he’s gotten to know someone long enough.

Tremors - Kaja suffers from tremors he cannot control, it’s not like he can tell himself not to spasm. This is a consequence of Extracting him of his Soul Essence. The tremors while can be counted by their seconds, come on suddenly and make it difficult for things like gripping a sword.

Trusting - Kaja does not want to believe that the world is so black and white. He likes to believe there is a gray zone somewhere, and well there might not be. Kaja often gives people too many chances before they have burned him in some way or harmed those around him. Because Kaja prefers giving an individual the benefit of the doubt and wants to wholeheartedly accept there is a way for someone to change who they are.

    How to read the Moon

The moon goes through 6 phases

New Moon - when it is at its weakest all NPC demons lose their strength by 50%

Crescent Moon - when it begins to strengthen again - all NPC demon remain at 50% strength

Half Moon - when the moon begins to bloom - all NPC demons at 55% strength

Half Full Moon - when the moon begins to burst with magical energies and brightens - all NPC demons are at 60% strength

Full Moon - When the moon is at its brightest and glows crimson red, bathing the sky in red light, and shines brightly all NPC demons are at full strength and get additional bonus power to attack

    The days are calculated by the strength of light the moon shines no matter the type of moon phase;

    Weak - During morning

    Strong - During noon between 12 - 3

Strong Waning - Afternoon fading into evening between 4 - 11

Weak - once again between 12 midnight and flows into the next day

    The Onahrai

    Blood from the Father binds
Flesh that is woven by our
    Father’s gifted Essence
    Our frame from bone he
    Chose for us

The Onahrai is a small sect hidden in a temple deep within what they call the Makoshin “The Mountain of Sin”. Overtime they believe they were not just born, but crafted by the will of their Father Asmodeus. No one speaks of the true origins of the Onahrai. That in time was forgotten as the Onahrai experimented with Demon Essence and Human Essence.

Binding a soul into a manekin body, a Kugutsu or “Demon Doll”. Overtime the practice converted humanity into a being that was both man and demon, but not demi-fiended. Their doctrine the Onahrai, their mountain Makoshin, the people Manaky playing on the Aurahky and the word manekin at the same time.

The Onahrai believe in a few more things. That their Demon King whom they have served and adapted for in the 200 years will be the Demon Emperor. They grant amnesty for any demon, demi-fiend, or human who accepts their Father as their one. For those who do not they are considered Unworthy and will be Harvested for their Essence to be granted to their Father.

    The Manaky

It’s taken over 200 hundred years to practice the binding of a soul into a manekin body. But the Onahrai have achieved such a feat. Only a hundred years ago, the manekin would have complained that they felt like prisoners in their own bodies.

Because the sealing technique hadn’t yet been completed. Now the Manekin know no difference between their human body and their doll one. Mainly because those who are converted into a body are children. Children don’t spend many years in a human casing, they can easily be extracted, matured as a Soul, then be placed into a doll body. Without the need to raise children or have children grow through their lives.

Educated. Germinated. And grown from Soul till ready to be placed into a body often curated by The Collector or Puppet Master. Then sealed by a powerful high priest or priestess.

    Benefits of being Manaky

The Manaky are no longer human. Not really. But they are not demon either. They are manekins. Like the Aurahky, they are excellent casters. Unlike the Arauhky they do not need stones to cast magic. But like demons they are bound to one element an individual focuses on. They do not have physical strengths that make them stronger than humans. But they have more resistance to pain, as in they may not entirely feel all of what injures them.

    Demon Gate

What separates the zones, are walls crafted by powerful Demon Kings in order to protect their territory. Yet despite the gates functioning as a way to mark who is King of what, it is also a quick and easy way to get to Zones without long walks.

The Demon Gate Guardian, a large, giant, ogre, protects the gate. Asking those passing through for 100 Essence. If one does not pay the toll before passing, it may eat you as punishment. Well it will try.

So you should probably run if it lifts up its large hand and takes a swipe at you.

    NPC Sheet

    Kay

    Age: 24

    Gender: Male

Is he a hunter or is he a playboy, because he dresses like he’s the Sanctum’s rockstar than he does a hunter. Wearing a leather jacket, with leather boots, and leather pants. With a flashy looking coat over it. His wild messy hair is held up by a few hair pins and a small rubber band. While he wears an assortment of scrap metal jewelry. He certainly thinks he looks cool. Or dresses how he interprets what cool looks like to him.

Expressing his presence through a loud wardrobe despite not even needing the loud wardrobe considering he stands at 5’11” with a slim build. He got his mother’s thin, lean build, over his father muscular, strong build. But Kay’s not really the type to care about that, as long as he gets the job done. Which he does with efficiency.

“Do you think demons would date a human?”

    “Why are you even asking?”

“Because some fairies are cute and not all of them do I want to shoot,”

“I am not going to give you an answer,”

His voice was hoarse and husky, but appealing. While he may not have any tact when it comes to flirting, it seemed to attract girls on its own just by him speaking. It was just a shame that he didn’t know how to talk to them.

    Personality:

To be honest the main complaint everyone about Kay is that his personality is exuberantly him. He’s a loudmouth who doesn’t know when to shut up, to Reyis annoyance, and always has something to say. He’s known for his smart ass remarks and his witticism. But he’s also known for being a playboy as well.

Often flirtatious, but having nothing to back it off. Never really being as smooth as an operator as he likes to think he is. He likes to think he embodies the essence of cool, but the reality of the situation is he might actually embody the essence of being others annoyance.

He doesn’t necessarily do it on purpose. He’s sociable and likes to talk to others and is often the one of the duo to go to talk to because he doesn’t seem to take anything seriously. Though the reality of the situation may be the fact that it may all be a defense mechanism of his.

Hiding someone less confident than he really is. Rey is a demi-fiend, Kay is not. He’s still human and scarred by the deaths of the demon hunters he had trained with, mentored under. Fighting beings more powerful than you, will always end up being your worst nightmare.

You might have all the tools to defeat them, but you still feel weak under their power and might. Truth be told Kay isn’t as arrogant and as confident as he acts, but that’s the only reason why Reyis would deal with him in the first place.

Kay is an honorable warrior, who earns the trust and loyalty of those he considers friends and allies. And while many will complain about his lame jokes, his over confident presence, or his lack of really having any social tact. Or even his seemingly perverted nature. They ignore it because Kay is loyal. Willing to sacrifice himself and willing to fight the toughest of enemies and never let cowardice take him.

    Weapon:

    K n T

“Get it cause it’s like TnT”

    -silent stare-

Few know the true origins of his twin guns K n T, given the initials of his late father who died. One of his guns if the gun his father left behind. The other his gun. While these guns may not seem to be extraordinary. The guns live on Kay’s passions. Fueled by his father’s prejudice, T, and fueled by his passions to protect those he loves and cares for, K.

*Currently Photobucket is giving me grief, so gimme a second with their photos.
