Sie looked up from the cage looking to Nick with a frown. She wanted to argue but... knew he was probably right. "Occupy myself?" she grumbled crossing her arms. with what!? there was nothing for her to do! But... She thought for a moment before brightening. "Sure thing!" she said finely before she turned and headed off. she'd just have to duck away for a while but she could comeback and look later. Now what to do? maybe she could go find Tobis.

after a time, it was now dusk. The creature would be coming out soon if it hadn't already. It was shortly after evening rations, Nick decided he'd check the trap. along the way he'd check on the defenses to make sure they were in working order. He had a few men standing by with tranq darts in case whatever they found in the trap was hostile.

Yalve's nose had twitched, after a while it had grown silent and the smell of something familier was becoming tempting. She was hungry again but she waited till it started to get dark and grow more quite before venturing out. However she paused, there was something strange baring her way, she could easy make out the fine strands of metal that made of the cage but she didn't know what it was. Tentatively she'd lean forward and sniff at it. that tantalizing food was set in the far back but she didn't venture further. She didn't like this thing and liked it less and less as she studied it trying to find a way around it, a way to get to the food with out going in. She didn't know how it got here.

She kept searching but her claws just wouldn't reach through the small gaps and even though she could see through it she could see that she couldn't go through it, it was like a small den but it wasn't hidden. After a long moment Yalve started reaching in, her arms not long enough forcing her to move forward more carefully going for the meat but she tripped the trap and it came down on her arm causing her to jump with a yelp of surprise. Frightened she started to thrash wildly in an attempt to get her arm free.

Meanwhile Sie had been venturing back after amusing herself when she heard the yelp followed by the sound of a cage being shaken and banged around. "Whoa!" she started to head to get a closer look. "We caught it! we caught it!"

Waiting was the worst part of being a soldier. Compared to waiting, being shot at was almost preferable. Almost.

Then again, just then, Tobias might have preferred being shot at.

Seated in OPs, he watched as the searches continually turned up nothing. He knew that the people would be getting more and more impatient as they waited out the virtual lockdown that was going on. Soon, he knew, they would want the sweeps to come to an end, or at least let them out of their confinement. He wasn't going to let them out until he was sure that there was no great danger. Sure, or at least had his hand forced, either by them or by the commander. He had no doubt which would come first.

Nick came up beside Sie and held her back "Stay back, it may be hostile, remember that." Nick slowly approached the cage to get a look at the creature, it was dark, so he pulled out a flashlight and shined the light on the creature. "So, it's a type of wolf, is it...?" he knew how to handle wolves, after all, he had a wolfdog at home. Sometimes he'd wake up to dog kisses, other times it was a snarling wolf. This creature, however, was different... somehow. Kneeling down a few feet away he took some meat out of a packaged container, similar to jerky, and lightly tossed the meat to the creature, which landed right in front of her. He spoke softly, in a calm, but authoritative manner. "Calm down... it's ok." there was something calming about the softer tone he was using. Before taking another piece of the jerky meat and bit into it, as though to show her it was OK to eat it. That it wasn't poisoned or anything. He quietly 'shh'd to her until she ate the jerky before her, and tossed another to her lightly once again when she ate it.

Sie sighed as nick told her to stay back. "Ya ya..." However she peered around the older man at the strange thing, though it was hard to see until she shined a flashlight on it and even then she could only catch glimpses.

Yalve had crammed herself back as far as she could but with her forearm stuck in the track she couldn't get back as far. Her arm hurt with the trap snapped around it, and she'd thrashed around so much she'd managed to cut into her arm a little, dying the white fur around the area in red. Her ears layed back as lights shined into her eyes suddenly and she ducked halfheartedly baring her small fangs in an attempt to warn off the stranger. As her golden eyes adjusted she peered at the strange furless man before her. He was speaking in a ferm but soft tone but she couldn't understand what he was saying. She flinched away from the thing he threw at her trying to pull her forearm free which caused her to whimper as it fit deeper into her skin Shrinking down as far as her awkward position was allowed.

The strange man seemed to put something in his mouth, making strange sounds, but he hadn't made any other move towards her. her nose twitched as she watched him gnaw on the smelly object that made her mouth water. she followed her nose to the piece that was on the ground, but her eyes didn't leave him as she reached out and picked it up with her free paw ears twitching back and forth as she tentatively stuffed it into her muzzle.

Nick lightly tossed another piece to wolf-like creature. "I don't think she can understand me... it seems there's no other intelligent beings, but she seems a bit calmer now..." he said over his shoulder to the girl behind him. He moved to the trap, after a few more pieces of jerky had been fed to the wolf-thing. He slowly opened the cage to allow her arm free after telling sie to hide somewhere, just in case it lunged and a nod at some soldiers holding tranq guns, ready to fire if it attacked. Harmless tranquilizers, it'd put her to sleep, but otherwise would do no harm. As he opened the cage enough she could get her arm out he stepped back a few feet after setting the trap aside.

Sie rolled her eyes and half halfheartedly took cover behind some boxes.

Yalve shied away as the man got closer. Her ears laid back as she bared her teeth at him for a moment as he fiddled with the cage, but she made no attempt at him even when her arm was free. Favoring her redish arm now she backed away peering at the man and then past him as if measuring her options of escape... Now that she wasn't in such an awkward angle she was a little easier to make out how thin she was even under her slightly dirty and matted fur.

Backed into the Corner she didn't see any other way out, She knew she couldn't fight he was probably stronger then she was as he was an adult that much she could tell. Maybe she could scramble past him but she knew there was more out there... all she had to do was dodge them... but she hesitated, stiff and trembling.

The white lupin's golden eyes shifted from Nick to the gap, to nick and to the gap measuring herself. Even being young Yalve was still capable of somewhat fending for herself. The young wolf like creature suddenly bolted, scattering dirt as she scrambled past nick and bounded out of the opening out into the light. Her ears perked up and she instantly dashed, but rather then looping away on all fours she stood and bolted on her hind two. Before she could get very far though gunshots rang out and Yalve yelped feeling something bit into her flanks she tipped over something and tumbled over the ground before scrambling up again. she turned looking at the strange colorful things poking out of her side before looking up at the strange creatures that had put them there and promptly collapsed.

Sie jumped when the white creature suddenly merged from the gap. "Whoa!" She gasped watching as it raced in the opposite direction only to get taken down by some tranquilizers. But the stranger part was that it was taller then she was standing on its back two legs. "Did you see that nick? it walks like us!" Sie said before she raced over to the fast asleep furry. "Whoa... its like my size!"

Sif looked up from her work with a frown. Was that... gunshots? had they found that thing that had been stealing items from around camp? she wondered what sort of creature it was. Well hopefully nothing to dangerous. She wiped her brow before she went on with her work, she had to get these units up and running soon. And despite the lock down Sif had, as per usual, ignored it opting to continue working and beat whatever monstrosity came her way with her trusty wrench.

Jaz looked up as she heard the gunshots. "Looks like they may have found it... I wounder what it could be..."
