Name: Dia Albunda
Gender: Female
Age: 29
Appearance: Dia stands at a few inches above five feet, with an average frame. Her skin is dark, and her hair is a deep ebony curled tightly around her head. There are streaks of blue in it from when she was younger that she was too fond of to remove. She normally wears plain clothing that is good for both professional and physical work. She also has a few piercing in her ears, as well as a tattoo (often covered) on her chest marking her time as a Scholar. She is seldom seen without some sort of book or data stick of information.

Personality: Dia is a dreamer, always wondering about the world, the past, and all the things within it. She is very bookish, but isn't quite as withdrawn as one would expect. She has an innate curiosity, and will often go out of her way to find out some other strange thing or another. To her, it is often the journey that matters the most. Recently, due to events in her life, she has been much more subdued, and often restrains her desires.

Background: Dia grew up on the outer rim with many dreams and aspirations. Her parents often said that, were her imagination food, they would live like the royalty in her story books. Her family had little more than a small farm used to sustain their selves, and her father occasionally made embroidered shawls for the more well off people in their backwater planet. Her life was simple, days spent working the field and nights consuming whatever information (printed and digital archives) that she could.

However, Dia's life was interrupted when a merchant ship made an emergency stop on her planet near her town. There, she met an actual Scholar, who was charmed with her rudimentary and outdated knowledge. Scholars were well known even on her planet as invaluable wells of knowledge on lore, The Scholar was impressed, but refused to take her along, despite her begging. So Dia snuck aboard the ship, leaving only a note for her parents telling them she loved them, but needed more.

The next few years of Dia's life were a whirlwind. She was discovered on the ship far too late for it to make its way back to her planet, and was nearly thrown off on the nearest planet until the Scholar found her again. Having no other moral choice to make, they took Dia under their wing. From there, she began to learn how little that she knew of the world, but was determined to "learn it all". She gained entry into some of the more prestigious education facilities (it turned out, the school had a quota to fill for Rim World students), and soon became a Scholar herself.

Dia spent many years traveling and teaching, often with her mentor Scholar, until she got (accidentally) got caught up in a scandal involving several planets, money laundering, a ploy to overthrow the government and her Mentor the leader of it all. Crushed and humiliated, but acquitted of any wrong doing, Dia was let go. She returned to her home planet, which delighted her parents, and opened up a school there to pass on her knowledge. It is there she has been teaching the past four years, occasionally helping her parents on the farm. Despite her past, she finds herself yearning for adventure once again.

Appearance:

Despite his rugged appearance Nathan carries himself with confidence, he dresses practically for someone doing mechanic work, with his sleeves almost always rolled up and his work gloves always somewhere on his person.

Personality: Nathan is a hesitant people pleaser, he truly enjoys making other peoples lives easier but has been exploited in the past because of this. He has a mind for machines and fixes them even as a hobby outside of work, you may find your broken coffee machine gone one day and back working better than it ever did before the next day with him around.

Background: Nathan grew up in a scrap farm in the outer rim, his family would search wrecked starships for parts to clean and sell, he learned most of what he knows about ships from seeing them broken. As he grew up his parents noticed his passion for engineering and sent him to school for it off-planet he studied for years and graduated a year early.

Just before he would have started his career fixing complex machinery everyday in the same workshop for the rest of his life he met the captain of the Songbird, who said she might need someone with this skill set and welcomed him aboard. with modest pay and a thirst for adventure Nathan set out to explore the stars.

Other: I hope its ok for me to play as the mechanic of the Songbird, also I love Firefly so much and this roleplay seems truly amazing.
