Most of us have heard what it's possible of, but that's a ways off. Discuss. I'll post my stuffz. I recently read a book about cloning. In it, all of the major ideas of cloning's potential were discussed by both sides. I found one thing constant with the opposing views; they all contained religion. It really doesn't matter what your religion thinks, because legalizing cloning is a gov't process. In America, it is Unconstitustionial (sp) to make a law that is based on religious beliefs. Therefor, claiming that cloning is "playing God", or "killing babies" does no good, since both are based on religious views. I see nothing wrong with it, only how it could be abused. Now, before you use the ways it can be abused as terms for it's illaglization, think for a minute: the internet could be abused by sending virus to steal people's private information, should it be taken down? Heck no! The Internet is the, or near the center of, countless operations. Research on the internet is much easier to update and find than books. Communication via E-mails has shrunken the world; I can talk to my dad, who's currently in China, all the way from the States! So ya, all I can think of now, that and I got to go.XD |

Scramble the mods... After the events of the abortion topic, I think this one might be a bit of a handful. If you post here, PLEASE, be on your best behavior. |

I'm not gonna go all crazy, I promise. I mostly agree with Gabe. I see nothing wrong with cloning and the like. I would be concerned about the consequences if used in ways the technology was not meant for. Although I am fairly religious myself, I don't think religion has the right to dictate what scientists can and can't do. in fact, using history as my example, Religion has prevented the advancement of science numerous times in the past. (Although, that was when the church had tons of power...) ( I think that was more off topic than I anticipated.) Edited by That Guy, 24 Sep 2008, 02:09 AM.

I say if we can improve the future then it's ok for some to take on for the team but only if they or their Guardians wish it. |
