Many figures, cloaked and hooded, stood around a round, intricately-carved wooden table. The light from single, large candle hone a faint, dirty yellow light upon them all, but its blazing tendrils could not pierce the darkness that shrouded the Maimed's faces. There they stood, impassive, each as silent as the other, each waiting for the silence to be broken, and for it to all commence. it had been as such many times before, each looking at the other, their hoods lightly bobbing as the people's heads turned to regard each other. And at last, the founder of this order of wounded, maimed, people, spoke ... Hello all, this story, set in a fantasy setting, will tell the tale of a group of men and women. Though their lives seemed simple at first, Fate wrought upon them its evil machinations, and each suffered a fate some would say worse than death. Each person in this RP will be somehow "maimed", be it from loss of eyesight, to loss of hearing, to the loss of a limb, but none can be "pristine" ... This order, originally founded by one Lazarus Molokai (my charrie), is comprised of mayhap half a dozen people, all horribly hurt in some way ... But more to the point, it is how the once overcame the hardships that was done upon their mortal shell that will truly create your character. In a world where magic is common sight, it seems that the source to help alleviate their hardships was but a foot away. And so, learning the deepest, most arcane teachings of magic, each Maimed soon became a skilled mage, or at least enough to keep alive and moving, rather than bed-ridden and agonising. Slowly, these people gained power, but not just that ... In each person, rests a grain of potential, some bigger than others. But in these people, the pain, the shame of what they endured, broke the cage that held in that grain. Each person slowly grew in power, yes, but each did in such a way that they soon dwarfed out all others. The Maimed became powerful, feared by certain lords. Slowly, and to the dismay of those in power, the Maimed banded together, Lazarus Molokai creating their order. They never sought power, never sought wealth, just sought to live, and mayhap gain more dominion over the fleeting power that was magic. And that they did ... For centuries, they honed their skills, the first and foremost being to learn how to cheat death, the second and last being to survive with their hardship, the limitations of their physical shells forever a reminder of how weak mortals actually were, and how much power magic granted them. However, those in power were none too happy. They feared the Maimed, feared this motley group of lepers, blind men and deaf women, who had, through the sheer pain they'd suffered, found a way to transcend the limitations of their mortal shell, which seemingly now became more a hindrance than a boon. And so, they were hunted. The Maimed, once a thriving band of people, saw their ranks thinned by the swords of those unable to achieve such greatness. And so, the Maimed hid, locking themselves away, in temples where their wisdom was sought in private, in communities, secluded and lonesome, where they were venerated. They hid, hid for centuries, studying, and learning, all that they could of their new power. And all the while, those that dared venture out were slaughtered, burnt on a stake or drowned. The few that now remain, mayhap a dozen at most, have banded together once more, centuries after the last "witch-hunt". And together, they only seek to better their grasp of magic. But Fate has definitely marked them, has branded them with Her sinister gavel, and does all she can to seemingly bring it down upon them. Once again, the Maimed will know what it feels like to be hunted. --- Hello everyone, if you like the intro, please feel free to join ! That's what it's all about in the end really. I'm not going to bother you with a character skeleton, just tell me what you need to, but please, make it big, make it fleshy and fleshed-out, I need to know who I'm working with. We, the last of the Maimed, will of course know each other, even though we might not have to like each other. Our power, our age, and therefore our wisdom, have all kept us alive during the years of hardships we have faced. Soon, we will hold a new meeting, and soon, we will know that the world has once again forsaken us, and that we are truly hated ... A few rules to spoil your fun: -Normal RPA rules aply, you've read 'em, so uphold 'em ! -NO ASIAN CHARACTERS ! be they anime or just oriental, I don't want them ! Sorry ... -Make your posts, and even moreso your character sheet, lengthy, long and nicely detailed. One-liners will get you hated, and besides, will be a waste of screen-space, as they won't advance the story, s don't do them. -Any questions whatsoever that you may have, feel free to ask me ! -Have fun ... I'll post my own character later on, I don't have time right now, but needed to get the OOC posted. Feel free to post your won though, along with any questions you might have. See ya ! |

Not meaning to be rude, Volcove, but did you read ? I stated I'm not posting up a character template, just let me know everything I need to know, and anything else you might want to add. Yeah ... different, but really, I'm not expecting anything specific from your characters other than the usuals, albeit with lots of depth. I don't see the use in the anymore, even though it saddens me to see that many will post the bare minimum if they don't get their hand held the whole way through, or rapped. |

I am so in on this. quick question: Can they be a battlemage. Like being skilled with swords and only one-two kinds of magic? Name: Geralt Valdyr Age: Unknown, Looks to be in his late thirties, mid forties Gender: Male Eye Color: Nightstalker: Picture in your mind, a dense fog, or a stormy sea in the moonlight. He has no visible pupils, but when he looks about, his eyes seem to hold a life of their own, glowing and ever-changing within sockets of his head Appearance: Spoiler: click to toggle Robes and Armor Spoiler: click to toggle Hölle-Feuer - Means Hell-Fire in German ![]() Type of Sorcerer: KriegSchatten - War Shade in German. As a KriegSchatten, Geralt has learnt only the arts of destruction and chaos, as far as the arcane goes. He draws the essence of magic from the Winds of Magic, the source, the One Power, like all mages do, but at a terrible cost. The One Power can only be released by Geralt if he uses his own blood as the vessel in which the spell may pass from the One Power, over the abyss, and into the world of material and mortals, using Geralt's blood as the portal in which it may cross the Void. Though this type of arcane rituals is not unheard of, Geralt's holds a virtue and a vice. Unlike other blood-casters, the power of Geralt's spells depends on the freshness of the blood; other blood-casters would usually use the blood of some lowly creature or enemy combatants to cast a majority of spells, but always keeping vials of their blood on their person, just in case. Also, Geralt can only use the blood of humans or some other greater being, but his most potent and powerful spells are conjured by using his own blood, but the blood has to be a day old at most, otherwise it become useless. Using blood magic is dangerous and painful, both for the caster and the target. You see, blood holds fragments of one's soul, that is why it is called "Lifeblood". It holds our soul in it, so when we use it in some arcane ritual, it drains the one who is casting, whether it be the taxation on the body when casting the spell, or from pouring one's own blood for the spell. Though the magic is more powerful using ones own blood, the tax the casting puts into one's body is lessened, or more forgotten, over the strange feeling of your soul being used as a vessel for someone else's destruction. Part of Geralt's handicap is that he can only cast spells that fall under the Three. The Three are as follows: War: War Magic is the most taxing for one to cast, simply because of their diversity and potency. The Magic of War is comprised of Magus Strikes, using magic manifested like an extension of ones arsenal. The most commonly used it the "Knochen-Zhammer" or the Bone-Hammer. This attack is simple, but affective. It has the same force input and result of smashing part of the enemies body with a mace or hammer. The other forms of War Magic is the manipulation of the elements around you; the Knochen-Zhammer is the manipulation of the air around the sorcerer, making it almost like a solid object. The War Magics are based around the concept of the earth being your weapon. Whether it be calling forth lightning from ones hands or fire from their mouth, but those would leave Geralt, or any other magician, Maimed or not, fit to faint. Pestilence: The art of Decay; it truly is an art. These spells are risky and unstable, but are very deadly and very effective if used properly. These types of Curses are used to sicken an enemy, a gathering of spell casters could cause the breakout of an unnatural plague among the enemy capitol, if they had the skill. Geralt is no gathering of magicians, though, he is but one man. What he can do, however, is burden a group of soldiers with one weak sickness or a single soldier with a terrible illness. These sicknesses are not supernatual, they can be seen in any nation when people come down with a severe illness. What makes them useful is that the illness, being natural, will act as a natural sickness will; it will spread if given the chance and the means. But this art of Decay is not priceless, Geralt himself becomes very ill, for he must devote some kind of constant energy strain and constant blood incantations to keep the Curse running it's course. If Geralt is not careful, he could die. Chaos: The Curses of Chaos, the manipulation of one's nightmares. Chaos Curses are a mind-war, in every sense of the term. Geralt must be completely concentrated however, if his concentration is broken, the spell could backfire. What he does, is mind-dive into a terget enemies mind, finding what they fear most, and slowly erodes the line wall the mind has created between real and spectral. Depending on the target's intelligence, the task could be far too taxing to be worth it, but if Geralt can destroy that mental barrier, the target could be reduced to a infantile, weeping mass. This ability is called Mind-Wrym. Geralt is maimed in the sense that he must live in constant pain. He has already paid to keep his powers by removing a his ring fingers, never allowing him the happiness of marriage. And his eyes, his eyes are that of an unnatural freak and an abomination, they are useful, yes. They allow him to see in the darkest of places as if there were a constant day around him; he can see the spirit of his enemy, see their heartbeat and their blood in their veins. But, he cannot enjoy the beauty of a maiden or the wondrous sight of the sunset; his eyes forbid him to, 'tis part of his curse. His curse, though it may not seem all to horrible, is one of the worst, because it is always changing and always constant, forbidding him happiness and joy and the comforts of love. The cursed eyes of his do not make him blind, but they will burn like red-hot iron if he sets his eyes upon something he finds joyous or beautiful. The pain is nigh unbearable, causing his eyes to cry tears of blood and bile, torturing him if he even glances in the direction of a stunningly beautiful lass. Wow, I leave one day, and an army of people wish to join ! Still, I'm not complaining ! Right, thank you Nona, Alinethia and Azeara for wanting to join. Now, Green_Ivy, writer's block, eh ? Well, first off, is don't post; if you can't find something relevant to add to the RP, forget about it, let time flow, let ideas surge, and make a big post detailing all the action your charrie might have missed on during your block. However, if you have to post, then just force yourself, it's painful trust me, and a pain in the fucking ass, but force yourself. And to answer your question, yes, they ALL start Maimed, unless you really want to play something other than a member of the Maimed, in which case PM me. As for your two other charries, A & A, sure, they can be blind ... I just hope not everyone's are ! I'm sorry to say I won't accept the excuse "writer's block" stop you from permanently posting, as I've seen many an RP die, my own included. I can fully understand that it happens, but please don't make a habit of it, all of you, and do say so. However, more than just "I have writer's block, sry I'll post soon ^^" I'll just prepare my axe for the killing in that case ! lol. Nah, just PM me or post in the OOC stating your dilemma and why you can't post, and maybe we can sort out something together. But seriously, sometimes it doesn't come naturally, and you just gotta force it out. In those cases, read and re-read; you'll most likely be typing shit, so your progress will be slow. But life ain't always a bed of roses ! Now, StormWolf, your charrie ... First off, woohay for Geralt ! That name is so da coolez, don't soil it ... As for his eyes, could you make the effort to explain to me ? I shouldn't be the one to have to take a look somewhere to understand your charrie, should I ? Also, he won't look quite in his mid-twenties, the magic of everlife still can't hide the passage of time, and although their marks are very dimmed by the magics cast upon their bodies, the Maimed still look old-ish. Yeah, sorry, but young looking charries, well ... Let's just say you see them the whole time, why not make him an old fart, just make him Geralt-like with wrinkles, he's already got the white hair ! As for his magics, this might be just me, but they seem a bit uber (German for "on top" lol), don't they ? I mean, first he can use normal magic found in the "air", then he can tap into his own source, within his body, AND into that of other people ! Along with their pain, if I'm understanding correctly ! I wouldn't mind quite as much if he was more physically maimed, but as it is, he' also only mentally disturbed, which doesn't classify as being Maimed, really. Yeah, to me he seems uber-ish, and that scares me ... Again, not accusing you or your RP skills, but I've seen way too many uber character in my time ! lol. So yeah, I'd say lay off a bit on the magic, or make him physically maimed, because as it is, not only does he seemingly kick-ass with a sword (or not, I just know he's got one !), but he's also got insane magical powers, and isn't that physically hurt ! So please, could you modify Geralt a bit, or PM me for suggestions, but I'm going to have to put him on hold for the time being. He is a good character, just too powerful, seemingly. Thank you anyway for at least wanting to join ! I'll post up my charrie soon, Lazarus has got a bit more fine tuning to be done yet before he's ready ... |

I don't know if I can say better ... His ailment is far better though, I like that part, however, the magic seems even more over-powered now ! I can understand striking disease into others, I can understand using your own blood to fuel your magic, but being able to simply kill enemies just like that ? To be able to cause people to go mad or panic beyond control on a whim ? That seems a bit too much. Keep the Pestilence, that's fine, make the Chaos far harder to cast, and lower the power of the War magic, otherwise it just becomes a pwn-fest ... I like him, but even I won't be starting out that powerfully, that's just ... Not quite god-modding but getting there. That final edit should be the last one, StormWolf, then you're in ! Also, a few more things, about races for example. Try to walk away from the Fantasy stereotypes, I don't want to be accompanied by only elves, and have drunken dwarves swinging axes and praising the name of some cliché-sounding god. Try to add variety, human is the easiest of course, but a few "strange" people, or at least different might be nice. |

Sure, its just mages have such an opportunity to be over-powerful, that I least like to see the character sheet not too uber. Afterwards, you can actually expand on the individual qualities, powers and results of the spell IC, but ... Yeah, as I said, I'm not doubting your RPing abilities, just making sure that there isn't too many things in your character sheet that make me feel ... uncomfortable; get me ? In any case, it's already good, I'm just nitpicking more than anything else. |

Alrighty, here we go with the bio... Name: Alexander Deigo Tremaine Appearance: Alexander, also known as Lex for short, stands at a modest 5'8" in height. He is usually seen wearing a black or dark blue robe lined in fur and closed, so one doesn't get a chance to view the majority of him very often. He wears leather boots, a leather glove (Unless handling animals) and has a furred sash tied about his waist. One can see his face pretty well however, when his hood is down. His face isn't as weathered as it should be, but it doesn't look young either. Like a lesser wrinkled forty year old, mature in features. His eyes are a very light blue in color. He has no facial air, and slim white eyebrows. His hair is long and loosely tied back with a leather holder, and is also white with the occasional brown streak here of there. But what defines his face, and what can be seen of his neck, is that they are marred by old scars, clawlike in appearance. Personality: Personality wise there are two sides to him. The first he shows only to those few like himself, and to animals. It is a soft, wise, and reserved side, level-headed and calm. One to comfort, to heal, to listen. However, around others, humans, and especially those who hunt them... his personality changes severely. He becomes extremely bitter, hateful, and wishes to bring only harm and misery to them. When like this, he will stop at nothing to inflict those persons pain. Flaws: Unfortunately, he has many. His vocal cords have been clawed out and rendered useless, and these same claw marks maim most of his body. He is completely missing his left arm as well, from the same attack. So basically he cannot speak or vocalize in any ways, and had to learn to make do without use of his dominant hand. Magic: There are three fields he specializes in... Communication with animals: he can communicate via mindspeach with animals, as well as understand many of tehir body languages. He has made it his mission to understand as many creatures as possible. It comes in handy, since y making friends in such a way they become part of his 'pack' and will come if called to aid in whatever way. Telepathy/Empathy: He can communicate mind to mind with humans as well, an adaptation to his loss of voice. But he also, being so close to anothers mind, tends to feel their emotions as well. He cannot project emotions onto others, only receive. Telekinesis: This magic evolved shortly after the loss of his main arm. He has the ability to lift and move objects with his mind. Smaller objects are no sweat, especially day to day one. Larger ones are more taxing/take more time. For some reason living objects prove even more difficult to move. Weapon: Basically, he counts more upon his magic and his summoned animal companions as weapons. However it should be noted there is a rather large gray wolf that has stayed by his side, named Nemo. That should cover things. I left out a bio summary since it might work better in this roleplay to have things you know, develop out. But if youd like I can type one up asap!

Sure, you two can join ! Just post up a Character Sheet following the criteria you wish, bigger preferably than smaller, and that's it ! As for races, I'd prefer we keep mildly worldly, so no mystical creatures, and not too many elves, or make them stray from the stock Elf of common fantasy, Just encouraging diversity ... Oh, and Nona, you're in of course ! Nice charrie ! And StormWolf, yer in ! Finally, prefect, I like him ! However, out of curiosity, what's the deal with the German words ? You German, or just like the language ? Edited by Selothi Demnevi, 10 Oct 2008, 05:55 PM.

Thank you =3 Name: Annabella Gracey Appearance: Annabella appears around her mid-thirties. A couple of wrinkles can be seen at the edge of her snow-white eyes. Her brown hair is always worn in a bun. Her clothes consist of one sleek toga and a navy blue robe with golden embroideries. She wears boots, though they are always hidden because of her dress. Personality: Annabella's mood never changes. She is always serious and reserved. It is rare that she ever steps up to take a leader ship role or even challenges the ideas of others. When Annabella does decide to disagree with someone, there is no respect. She talks as if they are inferior and her word drip with sarcasm. Magic: Despite her blindness, Annabella has the ability to lock onto a target(s) and see emotions their emotions in the form of colors. For example, if she locks onto a man that is filled with rage she will see a detailed outline of him in the color red. With this, she can easily use words in order to confuse them and even persuade them to do her bidding. Because of this, Annabella is often confused as a mind-reader. Of course, there is a catch. If Annabella's target feels frustrated she too, will feel it.Thus, if Annabella convinces her victim his wife is cheating on him, she will also feel heart broken and furious. Also, if Annabella decides to take lock on a group of people, there is a chance she may feel over whelmed and pass out. Annabella's hearing is also heightened so then she can walk around without crashing into walls. Much like a bat, Annabella may have to speak(usually just by saying something like "teh") so then the sound waves will bounce back into a wall. Weapons: Annabella usually uses a small blade, hidden by a strap around her thigh. Bio: Annabella was not always blind. There was once a time where Annabella was dubbed normal. Her father was a powerful governor and she had an older brother who loved her dearly. But one day, when she was 14, she got a deadly illness that caused her to go blind. The doctors did not know what disease it was and feared for the rest of the family. Thus, one day, Annabella's family abandoned her in the forest to die. Of course, though, that didn't happen. For two weeks Annabella was somehow able to live until she met a kind old man named Blaine. He helped her the young girl for about two months until he brought her to a place where there were others like her. Annabella kicked and screamed begging him to take her back but Blaine refused saying that he too old to take care of her. |

Lovely ! And Blaine, eh ? My first charrie on this site was called Blaine ! Name: Lazarus Molokai, the "Leper Pilgrim" Race: Human Gender: Male Appearance: All one can usually see of Lazarus is a pile of robes. Indeed, the pilgrim wears a huge amount of cream robes, faded and washed-out from years and years of travel and wear. These many layers completely cover his hideous skin, and a thick cloak draped over his shoulders has a keffiyeh firmly sewn onto it, to act as a hood. This covers his face in a deep layer of shadow, to further hide his identity, and tha affliction he so suffers from. The keffiyeh is a dark cream, and patterned with a chequered black lines. A short, open fronted skirt around his waist, over worn travelling pants, is of a similar pattern. At the ends of his arms, Lazarus wears very large leather gauntlets that hold the ends and folds of the garbs he wears, and they are tied firmly to his wrists by bandages, the rest of the glove extending to mid-forearm. Heavy leather cover and protect his feet, and underneath the many layers of cloth, one can find a thick leather belt strapped around the man's waist, carrying a simple iron arming sword, its metal rusted, but its edge not dulled in any way. The blade rests in an un-ornate leather sheath, a few iron bands at each end, and tied to his belt by simple buckle straps. A few daggers can be found hiding within the folds of his constantly-worn robes, some long and slim, other short and curved, around his waist and upper torso. his torso itself is encased in a small chain mail tabard, stretching no further than his belt, and tucked into this one. This piece of armor is rarely seen under the folds of cloth, and its rings have started to take on the tinge of rust, some already falling off the weave. If one were to catch Lazarus unclothed, they would see a truly horrendous sight: the Leper Pilgrim has earned his name, for his skin, his very flesh, is tainted, dying and moulting in places, and generally bearing a slight purple tinge, where it isn't covered in thick grey or puss coloured callouses. His face has not been sparred, and it bears no hair, no beard, the skin wrinkled and marred with scars, both healed and not: fresh blood scabs cover his body where wounds of old re-open due to bad healing or simply the hideous effects of the sickness he suffers from. Also, Lazarus' scent is not that of rotting flesh or any other putrid stench, it is simply of earth. Years of travelling have matted him with that single smell, strong yet subtle, and ever present. Weapons & Abilities: As stated previously, Lazarus carries with him an iron arming sword, a few daggers, and he also constantly keeps a staff in hand, as much for defence as for support for walking. Indeed, Lazarus is, physically at least, rather weak, and while he can fight, and win, this taxes him greatly. His breath, already coming in rasps, can stop after a few swings of his sword, or continue ripping air in and out of his lungs if he so wishes, and so commands. However, the pilgrim's greatest talent are his magics. He excels in the domain of telekinesis, being able to grasp and destroy objects at great distances, bend them and rend them. He can also convey words through telepathy, but cannot read others' minds, or feel their emotion. He can barely feel his own !
