Considering that Hiren keeps nudging me to join in on the fun here, I've been thinking about this RP a bit, and I have a vague grasp of a Human concept to bring in, but it might take a little bit to put together in a coherent manner while working through the misery of a cold. lol I can try to PM a bio for consideration as early as today if I can push aside my symptoms and get it done. |

Despite my writer's block (har har), I'll get a post up sometime this weekend. Everyone else who is waiting for Kuro's post, I suggest playing him as an NPC for the time being because honestly, I don't know when he'll come back (which makes me a sad panda). And take your time, Gwyn. ^.^ Your health is way more important than replying to a thread. |

Edited my post for my bio. Thanks for accepting me, Persephone. ^_^v Name: Alexandra “Xan” Kincaid Age: 22 Gender: Female Occupation: Skiptracer. Before the Purge, her father and elder brother both worked in Bail Enforcement with a number of others close to the family, giving the young woman a taste of the lifestyle in which dad was hardly home, where guns and other tools were items not entirely cause for concern. At first, she worked for her father as a sort of “receptionist”, taking calls from important individuals giving or taking information on bounties, or conduction partial investigation from the safety of a desk at home. By the time she was seventeen, Xan started to accompany her brother and father on their work to “capture the bad guys”. While there was hardly any pay involved, the young woman gained further experience with firearms and self-defense, as her father and brother, protective though they allowed her to accompany them on jobs, would not allow her to remain helpless. Aside from days and evenings in which she would assist her family in the prominent occupation, Xan worked part time at Cabela’s, a large retail store specializing in outdoor equipment (hunting, fishing, camping, etc.). Alignment: Rebel Faction Weapons: - Colt Anaconda: Her personal favorite, Xan keeps this silver double-action revolver holstered on her right upper thigh. Modified slightly with a wider eight inch barrel than most, she often affectionately refers to the simple weapon as her “hand cannon”. It’s chamber holds six rounds, requiring the manual reloading of each individual round in the rotating chamber. Some view it as a hassle to work without clips, but call the girl old fashioned. She always did like a good western. - Sawed-off Shotgun (Lupara): An old favorite of her father, Xan carries this weapon mainly in memory of her father and elder brother, only pulling it out when she needs that extra “umph” in close range combat. It’s been said that one blast from the Lupara could blow a man in half, though the young Skiptracer has never been able to prove that rumor as fact. A break-open firearm, it has been modified slightly to handle two items of ammunition before a manual reload is required through the lower base of the barrel, where it snaps down and away from the stock, and back up into place with a quick and deliberate flick. With a strong kick, Xan has trained herself in handling the strength of the weapon single-handedly, though she is not against steadying with a second hand when necessary. This weapon is kept holstered at her back, its length at a full 26” easily concealable on her back when wearing a tattered and worn waistcoat. - Expandable Baton x2: These items are made of top of the line aerospace steel, the silver exteriors polished to perfection. Both with black foam vinyl grips, they are approximately 9 ½ inches in length when closed, and expand to 24 inches in length when open. They are not automatic expandable batons, rather they must be opened manually. A quick and skilled flick of the wrist generally gets the job done. These weapons, when closed, are kept strapped to the small of her back, one atop the other, with the grips pointing in either direction for easy access for the hands when they reach back to pull them free. Xan uses these items only when close-quarters combat is necessary, though when faced with the PSI, she would prefer to work as far away as possible without the possibility of physical contact, fully aware of the difference in strength between herself and the beings in question. Abilities: Athletic to a point, Xan’s focus isn’t about strength so much as it is speed. As a runner in high school, the young woman has strong legs that can propel her forward at impressive speeds, well within human bounds anyway. She has some skill in hand-to-hand combat, though it is mainly towards basic self-defense: how to escape a grapple, how to temporarily immobilize your opponent for a quick getaway, etc. While she can fight using what physical strength she possesses, she prides herself more in terms of evasion and agility. Nevertheless, she has been known to have a killer right hook. Her talents also lie in gathering information and tracking. One also should not forget that she’s had experience with firearms since a child, as her father loved to hunt and spend time practicing his own aim. While not a perfect sharpshooter, she knows how to dismantle a gun in eight seconds and put it back together again flawlessly. To think that some parents taught their daughters how to do their hair and makeup instead. Appearance: Clicky Xan, or Alexandra, back before the Purge, wasn’t always as lithe and curvy as she is now. In truth, she was somewhat of an ugly duckling as she grew, plain and straight-figured. Some could say she simply developed late, so it was rather interesting when she began to blossom into a beauty said to be like her mother around the time that she had let herself get swept away by her father and brother’s occupation. There were those who thought it a shame, thinking that such an attractive young woman spent less time dating than she did investigating those who were missing from an important court date. Her slender and toned frame stands at a height of 5’7, a trait inherited by her father, perhaps, who was a rather tall man. Her skin has paled a bit over the past couple of years, once healthy and tanned but now bearing only a sight peach tone to her overall complexion. A round face is framed by a long and wild mane of russet waves that fall to the middle of her back, following no style save for what comes after an idle brushing of her fingers through the tousled layers. Almond shaped eyes are steel-blue in shade, but up close, one can see that Xan suffers from a case of sectoral heterochromia in her right eye. With this inherited trait from her mother’s side, that right eye is, for the most part, gray around the pupil, but on the left side, there is a section that bears a rust-colored pigment, taking up just less than half of that particular side of the iris. As for her wardrobe, the comfort of well-maintained materials seems hard to come by for a rebel opposing those in control of society, thus causing the young Skiptracer to settle for tattered yet comfortable apparel. A white tank top, obviously worn and having seen its days of wear and tear, partially covers her well-sculpted torso, revealing a good portion of her flat abs and the lower ridges of her ribcage. Very thin straps, barely an inch wide, hold the shirt, if it can be called that, around her shoulders. Tight black “half-sleeves” are worn about her arms, fitted down over her hands to form fingerless gloves ending above the knuckles. Small but hardened plates are worn over the elbows for added protection, with loose bandaging wrapped around each wrist. A loose leather bandolier is worn low on her hips, pocketed and bearing loops here and there set with pieces of ammunition within them, as well as leather belt pouches fastened on either side of the waist, holding more small trinkets or ammo. Tattered brown suspenders are slung over her shoulders, also pocketed for scattered bullets, meeting in a Y-shape at the center of her back and fastening to the skirt beneath the belt at her waist. The skirt is also worn and extending down to mid-thigh, tan in shade and frayed on the ends in some places, bearing a couple of tiny burn marks here and there. Tall black leggings rise above the knee, covering a measure of ragged gauze wrapped around the lower thigh for some unknown reason or another. Steel knee pads are worn, connected to a hardened protective covering that fastens into place around the lower legs, forming a sort of high-tech and heavy boot of black and gunmetal gray. Xan’s body has traces of faint scarring here and there, along with slightly callused palms. Her most noticeable imperfection, however, is a darkened circle just below the left eye on the cheekbone, perhaps the size of a nickel. Some might be able to determine it without asking, but this mark is a perfect circle of damaged flesh, the result of a burn from a direct source of heat at some point in her past. Bio: Growing up, Alexandra was outnumbered in the household by her father and elder brother, Riley. Her mother had passed away in a car accident when she was too young to understand the true meaning of loss, leaving the girl to be raised instead by men. It was due to these influences, perhaps, that she grew up in the style of the standard tomboy, sooner rushing out to play football in the mud than stay inside playing with Barbie dolls. She was watched over by neighbors on various days outside of school when her father would be off at work; a bounty hunter just like his father before him. Riley, five years her senior, was learning of the profession as well as he grew, though he wouldn’t actually go out in the field until the age of sixteen. He grew up fast as he helped in the raising of his only sister, and being such a tomboy while refusing to be delicate, the wrestled and fought, letting that boundary between normal male and female siblings vanish along with its restrictions. They were blissful days back then, spent fishing and hunting, working on cars and admiring their father’s collection of weaponry. In school, the girl was average at best. Not an honor roll student nor the teacher’s pet, she had her circle of friends, somehow getting along better with the boys than the girls. Being so plain back then, her friendships weren’t hindered at all by her appearance, as to those friends, she was simply “one of the guys”. Growing up in a small town, certain comforts were unavailable to the children, so they made their fun by doing other activities. Hiking, swimming in the lake, sometimes taking their fishing rods out to catch a bite or two with a tiny cooler of soda and sandwiches made by parents... It wasn’t until her high school years, when Alexandra began to develop, that things began to change. She grew into those long legs, her acne-prone skin began to clear up as her lips became fuller. The development of her well-rounded bosom also became a point of concern for her male friends, now too intimidated to play tackle football with her like in the earlier days of their youth. Spared from the slow alienation from her friends, Alexandra began to show more interest in her father’s work, her brother now following his footsteps and going out with him when someone skipped out on a court date and needed to be found. Her father allowed her to do some work from home at first, helping her learn the tricks of the trade, and how to go about the investigations and gathering the appropriate information necessary with each case. When she hit sixteen years old, she got her first job as a cashier at the Cabela’s in their town, comfortable there as it catered to the lifestyle she was familiar with while living in a small town surrounded by trees and wild game. It was a way to make money and do something else with her time when her father and Riley had no work to do. Things were already beginning to change in the world, however, as even their quiet little town began seeing an increase in technologies, especially in the presence of artificial life forms. Her workplace had one as well, trying out one to see how they worked behind a register. Her father began to wonder how much time it might take when they may even replace him on the job since programming made them so...perfect. When the PSI rose up unexpectedly to take control from the hands of humanity, Alexandra’s father wanted to pack up and leave town, find somewhere remote to stay for awhile, out of their reach. The family had an old cabin up in the words they could use, outfitted for long stays with a supply of dry and canned foods. It was his hunting cabin, also harboring a measure of his collection on site so he didn’t have to carry various things back and forth on each trip. They were almost out of town before they were stopped by the PSI who claimed control over the area, demanding submission. Her father told them where they could go as he pulled out a hunting rifle from the back seat. He was the first to go, followed by Riley, who could not contain his rage. Alexandra was paralyzed with the shock of seeing her family murdered before her eyes, incapable of fighting against their killers, incapable of running away. The young woman was taken then, put under the “care” of a PSI family wanting a pet. Ironic. Weren’t humans buying these things for their own personal amusement or companionship, as one might do when buying a dog? Alexandra spent nearly two years as a pet, like a living doll for a female PSI existing in a family unit. Her “owner” often remarked on her strange good looks despite her being a flawed mass of flesh and bone, dressing her up and parading her before other PSI like one would when showing off their newest doll with pretty hair and a nice dress. The young woman had her days of disobedience, however, one such instant involving the punishment that marked her face as it is today. It was like taking the cigarette lighter from a car dashboard and pressing it into her cheek. Who would have thought that artificial beings without real emotion could be so sadistic. She felt the skin burning and sizzling, smelled the heat and the charred flesh. Despite the level of pain, she fought desperately against giving them the satisfaction of her scream. That incident had been the last straw. It was more than the girl could take. It was a miracle how she escaped, finding a way to fry the life-sized toaster with electricity to disable its motor functions, artificial as it all was. As long as she didn’t run into any kineticists, like the ones that had broken her father and brother, she could make her escape. She didn’t bother with a vehicle at the time, as it would cause too much noise, giving her away in her escape attempt. She traveled on foot into the woods under the cover of night, making her way to her father’s old hunting cabin to see if it still stood. The abandoned building, out in the middle of nowhere in the woods, was a sight for sore eyes. It had been so long since she felt joy, like she were finally home. The old cabin smelled of wood and dust, with the faintest lingering scent that reminded her of her father. She couldn’t spend much time here, so she remained only long enough to make a futile attempt to treat her burn, knowing that it would scar her terribly as a result. While listening to her father’s old radio, trying to pick up anything that might give her an idea of what to do, she found a very low and nearly obscure message over the radio waves, calling for human “survivors” and the like to come rendezvous with others for safety. The message was a seemingly incoherent string of taps and subtle beeps; Morse code. She knew only little, as Riley had a strange fascination with it while growing up. Taking down the coordinates, Alexandra continued to gather whatever she could carry from the cabin; food, water, any extra clothing no matter the style, and something to protect herself with. It was here that she found her father’s favored Lupara and old boxes of ammo for it. Surely it would be powerful enough to tear through any PSI that wanted to stop her again. As of now, the young woman simply wanted to live. After commandeering a utility model ATV from the shed and strapping her supplies and extra gasoline at the rear of the four-wheeled tank, the young woman was on her way, using only a compass and a topographic map to guide her on her lone journey. It’s been a little over a year since her escape, time enough for certain wounds to heal, and some to remain. After joining the resistance. Alexandra shed the formality of her full name, going only by Xan amongst those in the underground. While her heart is not completely devoted to the cause of the rebels, she is where she is, and even she cannot deny that she’d like some measure of vengeance against those heartless toasters that murdered her family right before her eyes. Because of that memory burned forever into her mind, Xan holds a certain measure of hostility towards the PSI, finding it difficult to face even those who sympathize with the human condition and seek to help them against the oppressive efforts of the more controlling PSI. Needless to say, Xan tries to avoid the PSI at all cost, no matter their affiliation, but if she should find herself in a brawl with any, she’ll fight smart, completely capable of reigning in her hatred to flee if necessary. Live to blow them away another day, she supposed. In the end, Xan simply can’t wait until some semblance of peace can be reached, so tired of living in fear of those red-rimmed eyes that haunt her dreams. Edited by DeFalco, 26 Nov 2008, 01:40 PM.

This thread is gonna be up in hiatus now, mattie. =\ Maybe in the near future I'll put this back up, but for now - I'm gonna ask one of the mods to lock this. I'm sorry for all that. I'll be saving all the profiles, so whenever this is back up - you can still be in it or not. (needs to revise the storyline) |
