http://role-player.net/topic/7036584/ I've got to do a few minor updates about her after my battle with Oreyn, but for the most part it's correct. Just go with what I've got here, if you're not sure. -- Raikou stood on top of a large boulder, trying to see the sun fade into the trees. This forest was so peaceful. The only sounds were the sounds of nature - the cicadas, the river flowing, the soft moaning of the wind through the old trees. The sun wasn't touching the horizon line yet, but it would be soon. It'd be dark within two hours, but she hoped that this battle wouldn't take that long. At the thought of the word battle, she smirked, remembering her last experience with a swordsman. It was a tough fight with a very unexpected ending, but she'd managed to learn a few things here and there. Her hair had been cut, but still reached down to midback. Instead of red, her newly dyed blond bangs slapped her face, the rest was pulled back into a pony tail. She was wearing tight black trousers and a baggy white shirt, her two swords slung on a belt on the left side of her waist. She looked a lot like a pirate - all she needed was a hat. Raikou glanced around the clearing with crimson eyes, eagerly awaiting the next swordsman she was to face. |

crunch crunch crunch. The soft footsteps of booted feet could be heard faintly in the distance. It was obvious whoever was walking was not trying to be stealthy at all. After several long moments a crimson smudge appeared between a couple of tries, another second and the form of a man wearing an oversized crimson cloak appeared in the clearing. He was fairly tall, standing at about six feet and was covered completely by the gigantic cloak he wore, which, oddly enough, actually seemed to fit him perfectly. He wore on his head a fine black, leather cavelier hat with the left side bent up and pinned to the top of the hat, three large feathers extended out behind, two were black, one was red. He wore simple, yet fine black pants and leather boots, but his clothes beneath the cloak were still hidden. At first he had his head down, but after entering he brought it up to survey his surroundings, a handsome grin was aimed at the girl on the rock, his startling blue eyes, that looked as if they had been cut from the sky itself, locked her's in his handsome gaze. Rath was, in every sense of the phrase, a ladies man, so much so that it was actually quite frustrating for him sometimes. "Are you Raikou?" He called to her, "You have fine tastes, this is a beautiful spot," he said, breaking his gaze to glance around at the trees and the river. |

(Sorry 'bout that, this week's been hell. I think I'm slowly becoming an insomniac. XP) Raikou turned as loud footsteps came from behind her. Her smirk turned into a flirty smile, her slightly abnormal canines exposed. A cute boy for sure. She was highly anticipating this fight. It took a while for her wounds to heal, and Raikou had a lot of energy she wanted to get out. Training is not half as fun as an actually bloody battle. "Why, monsieur, that'd be me," she bowed, skipping off the large boulder, onto the platform of descending rocks until she reached the last one. He was tall, she could see, and quite handsome up close. Didn't she just have the best luck? The second attractive opponent she'd crossed in a row. Raikou cocked her head to the side. "It seems your the first to see my battle invitation. And you are...?" She trailed off, stepping gracefully off the rock and circling him, a sly grin on her pretty features. Her crimson eyes sparkled with malice. |

Rath let out a low whistle as he watched the lovely girl move gracefully among the rocks. She seemed quite capable of handling herself and was quite aware of her own flirty nature, to Rath she seemed to have more to her than met the eyes, but he couldn't tell if it was necessarily dangerous. The longer she was close to him, the more he liked her. As she circled him he met her gaze easily and spoke smoothly, "Aye, I can't pass up a good fight, though i must say i am certainly surprised, though not disappointed, to find you standing here and not some burly warrior. Usually pretty young ladies don't issue challenges, but i have no problem with it, just hope you're good. Oh," He took off his hat and brought it low across his chest in a elegant sweeping motion, "I am Rath Condarrion, a pleasure. Who might you be?" When he brought his arm back up, his hat on the way back to his head, he stopped and eyed her curiously, eyes sliding up and down her before his arm swept over and placed the hat on her head. "Perfect!" He exclaimed with a grin. |

"In battle, I'm simply known as Raikou," she smiled, stopping about two yards away from him. Her red eyes didn't miss his eyes scan her. She couldn't help but notice they were a brilliant blue color. Oh, what luck she had with handsome swordsmen indeed. She winked at him, turning so that he could see her right side. Her fingers danced on the hilt of her sword. She was eighteen and her hormones just begin to start pumping. Wonderful. "If you don't mind, Mister Condarrion, let us..." In a quick motion, she had pulled Un from her sheath and twirled the blade around her hand, neatly catching it below the guard as she pointed her steel blade towards him. There was roughly three and a half feet between her sword and his throat. "...begin, shall we?" Her crimson eyes matched her crimson lips, which were twisted into a wicked smile. Her eyes and lips wouldn't be the only things that were crimson this evening. |

Rath swept his fine crimson cloak aside with a great, broad gesture of his right arm that revealed most of his body, but left his left arm completely hidden, and he made no move to reveal it. At his left hip he wore a fair hand-and-a-half sword with a simple black hilt that had a bit of fine, pink silk tied around it. He placed his hand lightly on the handle and drew it slowly from it's scabbard, the shining steel seemed to sing a sweet song, rather than rasp crudely with the normal sound of steel on steel. His arm flew up quickly and the sword set to spinning in his hand, to anyone watching with untrained eyes it would seem that the sword did not even touch his hand. He gripped the handle tightly and thrust it down, nearly stabbing the ground and then brought it back up to touch hers, crossing them perfectly with a sweet ringing sound. "Let's dance," he said with his grin. |

Raikou couldn't help but smile at that. How many times had she used that line and prevailed? Oh, only once, but what an ending indeed. "Oh yes, let's." She grinned at her partner. He seemed like a magnificent opponent already. Let's just wait to see how his honor stands... she thought to herself. With a slight inclination of her head, Raikou broke away and did a quick plié counter clockwise, her sword slicing through the air as she twirled. |

Rath watched her cautiously, expecting her to attack immediately after he confirmed the beginning of the battle, but she moved away from him. Then he saw it, her sword coming at him, decent speed, easily acted, she was skilled. Since his sword had already been raised Rath simply flicked his wrist and turned his sword upside down and rose his arm slightly higher until he heard the familar clash of steel on steel. With a quick, agile twist backwards he removed his sword from hers, and his body out of the way, however he did not step back. He leaned far back to the right, but only for a split second. His sword was righted in his hand and he twisted back, raising his arm up and bringing it down diagonally, his right to his left, or her left to her right. |

Raikou 'tsk'd mentally. Her brain had already deserted her, and her body was simply on autopilot. This is where her years of martial arts, sword fighting, and dance came in. The swords collided, and the familiar scrape of steel was a dull sound in the back of her mind. All she could see was the reflection of the sun as his sword came down towards her in a diagonal line. Raikou had her sword almost diagonal to his chest, and she rotated her sword, quickly spinning it around to meet his blade. She lowered her elbow and flicked her own wrist upward, quickly sinking to a lower level and then raising into a pirouette away from him once again, her sword in midair facing him. "What's wrong, dear sir? I prithee, aren't you the one who asked to dance?" She cocked her head to the side. "Bring it," she grinned, her regular American lingo returning, her crimson eyes danced. "If you think you're hard enough." |

If she really wanted to dance, Rath had a few tricks up his sleeve, but he needed an opening first. His response to her came in action, not in words. He took a step foward and swatted first at her sword, to knock it away, and then launched the back swing at her, both horizontal strikes. All the while he got dangerously closer, putting himself at much greater risk, seemingly unaware of his own mistake. She seemed to be a fan of fancy behavior, though not an enforcer of it, this he guessed based on her constant back and forth between informal talking, and fancy, complicated talking. "ah, but to dance I believe it is best to warm up first, for only those that are properly ready to dance can dance as such that follows!" He grinned as he spoke over the slash of his blade. Again his left arm remained hidden, unseen and unmoving, completely hidden by the folds of his cloak despite his active movement. |

Strange. Apparently, this swordsman wasn't a fan of large, flashy movement. Raikou had a small curiosity as to why he was only using one arm of his. Her crimson eyes saw the move he made beforehand, and she dropped to one knee, narrowly avoiding his blade as a few blond locks fell to the floor. She growled and cursed quietly. Pursing her lips, Raikou realized that the distance between them had receded rather quickly, and took this as an advantage. She turned away from him and did a quick roll, the sword in her right hand flashing towards his ankles in a horizontal sweep, and there was a musical sound of Ah, her left hand sword, quickly getting pulled out of her sheath and following Un with a twirl as she got to her feet quickly, perhaps standing only three feet away from him now. She stood, sword in her left hand crossing in front of her torso, the sword in her right pointed downward, still at ready for a strike as she anticipated her opponent's next move. |

The instant he saw her drop lower to avoid his attack Rath knew her counter would most likely be aimed low, probably his legs, though she could change it and slash up at him. He skipped back, jumping lightly by using nothing more than his ankles to propel him, narrowly avoiding losing his feet. He heard her draw her second sword and it too was aimed at his feet, but his little jump had put him just out off range. He eyed her carefully, noting the well formed stance and the skill that radiated from her, based on the ease with which she held her stance. He was disappointed by the distance between them, he had almost had it, and now she held two swords so that would make it even more difficult. Rath contemplated something for a few seconds. Obviously she had seen that Rath himself carried two swords, though it was obvious that the one on his back was not the same type as the one he held in his right hand. Now, what she did not know was that Rath only had one real arm, though he was sure anyone fighting a swordsman who only used one arm to fight would get suspicious about the other arm, and most likely she had already started questioning it. He had two choices, continue fighting as he had been and struggle against her two swords, or reveal the left arm hidden beneath his cloak. He jumped forward, taking only one step after the jump before reaching her, his sword coming from above his head. However, it stopped inches away from her head, he side stepped quickly to the right after his faint and twirled his arm down and around so that it came up at her horizontally from his right to his left. This move was risky, and it could cost him, Rath ended up leaving his left side completely open, and anyone wielding two swords easily had access to both sides of their opponent. |

What is his motive? she frowned, trying to figure it out. He kept closing the distance she put between them, so obviously he wasn't a wide range opponent. Her sickles would have been a better choice than her swords, but now wasn't the time to scold herself. Raikou focused on his moves, and the steel blade coming down on her rapidly. She adjusted her grip, but before she could block, his sword stopped and went to the side. Raikou gasped, her left sword coming up to knock his sword away, but not before she got a shallow cut in her left arm. Her left arm swung around, their swords colliding in midair, and then she used her strength to bring it in an arc until it reached the ground. Simultaneously, the sword in her right hand flung towards him, and suddenly flying upwards, so it went parallel to his arm. A quick thought ran through her head, and she took a step towards him and aimed for a kick into his gut, hopefully using the momentum to knock him backwards, away from her. |

Rath expected the use of her right sword, but he didn't expect it to be aimed at his right arm instead of his left arm, he figured she'd go for his open side. There was a flurry of crimson as Rath's cloak exploded outward with a sharp snap as his left arm shot out of it. There was a sharp clash of steel on steel as her sword met his gun-arm. A work of smooth, gleaming metal, almost completely seamless and shaped somewhat like an arm extended from his left shoulder and blocked her sword. However, it did not end with a hand. A broad gun barrel graced the end of the arm with an intricate silver design that ran the length of the weapon that only showed up in the sunlight. Though he managed to block her sword, he completely missed the knee and felt a sharp pain in his gut that nearly knocked him off his feet. He choked on it but had already set his plan into motion. He twisted the arm around and brought her sword down below it, clamping the blade solidly between the arm and his side. Where anyone else would have been cut by this move, Rath was unaffected because her sword rested against his stiff leather vest, which wasn't sword proof, but was still sturdy. She could still cut easily through it, but the way his gun-arm worked half of his left side was encased in metal to support it. His sword and right arm had been forced down to the ground so he simply released the sword and let it fall to the ground, his right hand quickly closed over her wrist and he pulled her closer. With a quick grin he stole a kiss on her lips and then twisted himself out of his grip and away from her. He brought his gun-arm up and forced her sword away from him. He used his right hand to push her left arm and sword away from him and skipped back quickly, he would've done backflips, but the pain in his gut wouldn't permit it. After gaining quite a bit of distance he slumped down to one knee, a hand resting gently on his aching stomach, though he grinned at her. Edited by Nevermore, 12 Oct 2008, 05:17 PM.

Raikou blinked, her brain trying to turn back on and figure out what was happening. His arm was... or, it seemed to be encased in metal. Instead, she realized his arm wasn't surrounded by metal, it was made of it. It ended with not a hand, nor fingers, but a magnificent gun that shone in the sunlight. The teen cursed as he trapped Un between his arm and side. Apparently, he had some kind of special garb on. Leather, perhaps, so it was harder to cut through. Her crimson eyes locked with his, and she couldn't tell what his next move was. Raikou cursed herself. Either she was getting rusty or her opponents were getting better. She didn't expect him to drop his sword, and she certainly didn't expect to be pulled closer towards him. Within a moment, Ah lay helpless at her side, and Un was trapped by his arm. She blinked as their lips collided, but in that small moment, a smirk lightened her features before he pulled away. "My, my, no wonder kept closing that distance," Raikou said, sheathing a sword and standing the other into the ground. She winced slightly. Her left arm stung. For the fun of it, and to stop the bleeding, she untied the decorative sash around her waist and wrapped it around the cut on her arm. Then, she pulled Un from the dirt and cracked her neck. That gun could turn out to be a serious problem. Would he use it on her? What idiot used a sword against a gun? Her old words rang in her mind. "Only a fool would use fists in a sword fight." Perhaps they could be useful in a gunfight, as well? She was the one avoiding close ranger earlier, but if things were to be in her favor, they'd have to be closer than usual swordsman were when dueling. |

"Aye," Rath said with a grin and shrugged as if to say, "Can you blame me?" He stood up and winced at the pain in his stomach, clenching and unclenching his fist. He brought his hand up and released the clasp on his large cloak and let it fall to the ground in a small mound of folded crimson. Beneath it he wore a fine white shirt with only one long white sleeve that covered his right arm, over that he wore a simple, stiff leather vest with several small pouches that could conceal any number of small items. His left arm was the gun-arm that extended from a metalic shoulder, slightly visible through the ripped hole in his shirt where he had taken off the left sleeve. Rath looked at her with his grin, but his eyes slowly dropped to his sword where it lay by her feet. He sighed inwardly as he brought his hand up and unsheathed the sword from his back, he didn't want to use this sword in this fight. When he drew the sword, part of the scabbard came off with it, a rectangular block of metal that added less than an inch to the width of the back of the blade and ran six inches down the blade past the hilt, and half the distance to the single edge. Intricate spiderweb designs ran the length of the blade. She still held two swords and had bandaged the wound he had given her so she could still be quite dangerous, but he would leave the gun-arm out of this for as long as possible, and definitely would not use this swords power. "Shall we continue our dance, mi'lady?" He spoke smoothly before dashing forward, sword and gun-arm flashing. He held his right arm down, the swords tip barely touching the ground and stirring up a line of dust in his wake. This sword had a blade about equal in length to his regular sword, almost four feet, but the blade was thinner, lighter, a blade fitting of a single edged weapon, so it was easier for Rath to wield and thus his attacks came slightly faster. When he had closed the distance he brought the sword straight up at her, a vertical cut. Unintentionally, the sword through up dirt and dust as Rath slashed up at her. |

Raikou couldn't help but grin back. Darn men and their charismatic attributes. She recovered from the flutter just in time to see the steel rushing towards her from a downward angle. She gasped, dodging at the last second and jumping to the side, almost forgetting to roll. She got up with a fluid motion, quickly closing the distance between them until there was only about a foot in between. The teenager lunged at him with four crisscrossing diagonal lines, one after the other as her rage took on and adrenaline began to flow. It was nothing against him, honestly, but she wasn't going to win this battle with luck. ((Eugh, the left side of my mouth is all numb D: I feel funny. Sorry for the wait and super shortness.)) |

Rath managed to bat away two of the strikes, one with his sword, the other with the hidden blade on his gun-arm, it shot out with a scrapping noise and glanced off her sword. The force of the first two strikes left Rath open for the second two. He did his best to backstep but still received an 'X' cut on his chest. Luckily, thanks to his leather vest the cuts were not that deep, though blood still seeped to the outside and marked him as wounded, at least to some extent. He winced at the pain but he couldn't let it slow him down. He pressed past the pain slashed out at her when her swords were at the farthest distance in he swing, the point where any counter would be difficult, though a fast swordsmen could easily counter from any angle, so he was worried about how much time he had with her. The gun-arm, which was currently held across his body and on his right side came across in a horizontal attack that was aimed at her left side. His right arm came up and he rolled his shoulder foward, slamming the sword at her with a powerful stab. Things were getting difficult and Rath's body was beginning to feel it more and more, sweat was visible on his forehead and his breathing was a little heavier. His chest hurt due to the pressure of his vest and shallow cuts he had received, breathing was a little uncomfortable. If the situation got much worse he would be forced to end this fight with this swords power, though he hoped to avoid that. |

OOC: Aw! lolRaikou's breathing had sped up, certainly, but she was glad that she wasn't panting. That would have slowed her down. Her body was beginning to feel the heat of the battle, but she knew it wouldn't last long. She cursed as her sword went back her way, and she stumbled backwards a bit. She saw the sword coming towards her side, but she brought Ah down too slowly. The sharp, familiar pain of steel cut her and she gasped, her crimson eyes firing up. Breath, she forced herself. Focus on the pain's center. With the blood pumping through her veins, it was near impossible, so she tried the second thing she was taught: just ignore it. Putting as much force into this as she could, Raikou spun around, her blades held straight out, preparing to slice him in half if only that cursed metal arm wasn't there. She went for another diagonal cut, this time upward with both of her swords, praying for some kind of impact. |

The impact came, unfortunately for her it was the wrong sort of impact. Too much, Rath thought as he resorted to the use of this swords power to avoid the lethal damage he was about to receive from her swords. He squeezed the handle hard and the blade flared with fire, a searing heat could be felt coming off the sword as it began to glow a blistering red. The impact she would feel would only last for a split second as the heat of this sword was something to marvel at, hot enough to melt anything. If and when it connected (though she would have a hard time pulling her swords out of the way mid-swing) it would easily melt the steel of her swords and cut them in two. When the swords came apart he winced and cried out as one went flying past his right shoulder, digging a deep gash into it, while the other left a fierce cut on his left cheek. Despite the pain he still had to make his point, just because he had destroyed her weapons that didn't mean he had won. His gun-arm came up instantly, blade still out. It made a small clicking sound, as if to say it was easily ready to fire should she try anything. He grinned his handsome grin, though it was a bit pained and some blood from his cheek painted it a little red. "You are quite good," he said with a heavy breath. |

Raikou's eyes widened. No. Freaking. Way. There was a sudden flare of heat, and just as it appeared, it was gone. Her pores went into overdrive, and a bead of sweat rolled down the side of her face and ran down to her neck. They say that sometimes in the heat of battle, you can see things in slow motion very clearly. That's total bull. She could have sworn she heard the faint sounds of something sizzling, not the loud steel impact she was anticipating. The next thing she knew, her swords were cut in half and he had a few fresh cuts. Now, she was panting. There was a loud click that she'd recognize anywhere. It was a universal sign for "get the hell out of here or you die". She fell to her knee, grinning up at him, one eye closed from the pain. "Heh," she breathed, closing her eyes. She opened them again and smiled awkwardly up at him. "Thanks. You're... not bad... yourself," Raikou got out in between gasps. Her vision was blurring, and she began coughing, quickly bringing her arm up. She ignored the crimson stains that became visible once she pulled away. Curse this stupid disease. She sat for a few moments, panting. Her body couldn't take this abuse. She lowered her swords and hung her head. This couldn't work. As an idea suddenly popped into her mind, the sword in her right hand suddenly flashed horizontally, aiming for his knee caps as she rolled out of the way of his gun arm, her eyes blurring as a fresh wave of pain hit her. |

When she dropped to her knee Rath's eyes widened because he thought she was going to attack, which he wasn't expecting. He was hoping that with the loss of her weapons she would give up the fight, especially when confronted with the gun-arm. But when he saw her coughing he realized she was in pain and was most likely sick. Rath was on his way to the ground, to comfort her and see if she was alright, when he saw a change in the way she held herself. Instinct took over and Rath skipped back away from her, the broken blade tearing a hole in each leg of his pants, a small amount of blood was visible on his left knee. He winced and he took a few more steps back. He grinned at her, "Here i thought the fight was over, I hope you know i wasn't planning on shooting you," he spoke with a carefree wave of his gun-arm. "Are you sick? Can you continue like that?" Rath most likely could continue easily, though he was really starting to feel this battle. It wasn't so much blood loss as it was the amount of pain he felt and the amount of moving he had done. Though, he didn't really want to continue against a weaponless sick person. (advantage of the surrounding area. Rath's sword is still right next to her on the ground.) |

(Sorry, I've been so busy Gr, I totally forgot. Thanks.)Raikou coughed again and dropped her right sword. When she pulled her arm away, more bright red spots appeared in the crook of her arm. "Honey I've been sick long before this match started," she told him honestly. Raikou grimaced at the copper taste in her mouth. That battle with Cathal had really done a number on her. Crap. That was the last time this happened and she'd been forced to stop. Not again. Oh, no, not again. She moved to lean on her left arm, and a glint of steel caught her eye. Ho ho. Someone up there was smiling down on her. Raikou coughed again, but her right hand swung out and grabbed Rath's forgotten sword, forgetting fancy motions as she lunged towards him going for a parry. |

"Shi-!" Rath exclaimed as Rosalyn's Song clashed against his gun-arm, nearly cutting his head off. He cursed himself for leaving such an important weapon on the ground and now having to go against it. "You don't know what you hold," he said with a grin over the locked weapons, "That's something very precious, careful with it." He pushed off with his gun-arm at the same time his right arm came up over his head and straight down. He slashed down at her with the single edged sword, now cold and fireless. |

Raikou stepped backwards with the force of him shoving the sword away from his gun, at the last second, she twirled away from his sword, but there was there was the soft sound of ripping fabric, as her baggy sleeve got torn. She blinked and her jaw dropped for a moment. That was her new shirt! Snarling a bit, she brought the blade sweeping horizontally towards his regular arm. Raikou 'tsk'ed afterward. "It's a pretty blade, I'll give you that, but don't expect me to forget what you did to mine." |
