This kind of thing makes me sick. The parents got 22 years when they should have gotten life. Look at the bullet-points. "Severe lacerations to the top of his head, including a large gouge which could have been caused by a dog bite." What the hell. A dog bite. I'll leave this open to anger, debate and cookies. Hopefully the second one. |

The- The- TF IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE? What is the point of child abuse? I mean really? To exert your power over someone? Great, you can over power and kill a 17-month year old, wonderful, don't you feel special? What's espically messed up is that there are really only two scenarios, 1: The baby died a slow death, which means it would've been crying in pain the ENTIRE time until it died. Which means that these people continued tortuing it while it was crying in agony, and apparantly enjoying it, or they would've just killed it off quickly. or 2: It DID die quickly, and they continued messing with the corpse, which is even more sickening. From the way the wounds are described, it sounds more like the first one. Either way, REALLY? If you don't want it, give it up for adoption, if you feel insecure, go get therapy. You don't torture- and that's what it is, what these people did goes beyond simply beating- a child to death to make yourself feel better. |

Oh, my god. As someone who can't wait until she has kids of her own this is just... just... I don't even have words for it... How can someone do this to an innocent child? How? I mean... it's a baby, for crying out loud. ...Rest in peace, dear little one. |

I was reading about this in the paper today. I'm like Ripp, the motherly type, and I was horrified when I was reading it. How his mother could do that, or let it happen, when she had carried him for 9 months in her womb is beyond me. The relationship between a mother and child starts as soon as she knows she's pregnant. Also, I would to inform those who aren't from the UK that we don't have a life sentence. Or at least our life sentence is only a maximum of 30 years. So they won't die in jail, unless some of the other inmates beat the shit out of them or rape them to death. Which will probably happen, most inmates don't condone rape or child abuse and so the one's that do those offences are normally targetted. I hope they all get the crap kicked out of them just like that poor little boy did. [/rant] |

By the fires of hell. May these S.O.B's forever roast at Satan's feet for all time. This is why the firing squad should go back to being used as a form of execution. Edited by Siksta Slathalin, 14 Nov 2008, 04:46 AM.

Would killing them fix anything? The child is dead. We need to focus on developing ways to AVOID it happening, not on different ways to kill those who do it. |

My. God. Just... God. I don't understand how someone can be so horribly screwed up that they would feel the need to do such a thing to an innocent child. Reading this made me think of my own nephew, and simply trying to imagine anything like that happening to him is just... words can't describe it. Things definitely need to be done to prevent these kinds of things from happening, but like most things, such a program or service would never come along until long after it's truly needed, which only makes me pity human kind, and weep for the poor souls that have to suffer because of our sloth. |

One step in preventing theses crimes would be giving more power and authority to police and social workers, if they suspected abuse going on, they would have the right to remove the child until proving. It might sound extreme, but if would prevent child abuse, then so be it. |

I serious can't believe it. The pain of that child must have been so horrible. What people do to eachother. And more A BABY!! He can't fight back! I am shaking here if I imagine it. And no, sigma, I don't find that extreeme. A child will soon get depressed or reacts on it in a different way. If parents are abusing, they have absolutly no right to have that child. But if a child has been taken away, there should be counsil or advice or psycological stuff That there are helped. And then maybe that the child goes back.

But Cat, the sad truth is we CAN'T avoid it. People who are able to do such cruel and inhuman acts to a child who cannot even defend itself and feel nothing...or worse..feel pleasure...They are sick. Very mentally ill. You can't just wave a magic wand and cure everyone who has it of that sick desire. But that absolutely DOES NOT excuse what they did. I agree something should be done. But another fact remains is that we don't have the money or the resources to help everyone. The world would be a much better place if we could. |

what does this have anything to do with killing them? And since you said they are sick, then they need help, not execution. |

Cat still has a point though. Killing doesn't solve anything. Because you can't really say: 'You can't kill people, but because you did, we kill you!' It's hypocrisy if you do that, which is why I'm against death penalty. I'm glad we don't have it anymore. Now, as for making those bastards suffer a bit - I'm alright with that. Put them on the good ole' water and bread for the rest of their lives for all I care, but I agree with Cat when she says killing them doesn't solve anything. |

I agree killing them is not the answer. But I also think that they should pay an equal price for their crime... You know...perhaps this is why people try not to think so much about this stuff. Becuase it all contradicts itself... |
