The Agency for Defense against Paranormal and Catastrophic Threats (ADPCT) is a group of specialized individuals tasked with handling high profile missions and supernatural threats to national security. An upward trend in the number of recent supernatural occurrences catches the eyes of the agency, which send a small, elite team of military and scientist personnel to investigate the occurrences at their point of origin. This is my first RP on this site, but I've done plenty more at other places. I don't expect that this plot will be very successful, but if it is, I believe I can make it great and very interesting, especially for those who like plot twists and mysteries. Let's start with the rules, nothing unusual or extreme: 1. No godmodding. This is defined as controlling another person's character and their actions, or speech. It includes using "force" to move them in-character. 2. No pornographic material. References are find, but don't post pictures or long, detailed descriptions. 3. Obey the law. I'm the law. Admins are the law. Obey it. 4. Despite wearing the greatest armor ever created underneath their suit, a character will not be able to take multiple bullet wounds or stab wounds to the covered area. Eight rounds of 9mm pistol ammunition is all that's needed to punch through even the best armor, for the sake of making characters killable and realistic. 5. No godly characters. They're all human. They can all be killed the same as you and me. There's just varying amounts of damage they can take. For example, a buff agent with heavy bodyarmor is going to take quite a few bullets, whereas a scientist with only their interwoven kevlar in their suits can be killed with only one lucky one. That pretty much takes care of the rules, refer to the site's own rules for anything else, or let me know. The characters can be either 'Agents', the major military bodyguards of the group, or scientists, the researchers and labrats who have minimal amounts of combat knowledge, basic weapons training, and whose knowledge in specific fields sets them apart from the others. You can follow this basic profile outline if you like, but any one will work so long as it has the catagories this one has: Name: Age: Sex: Description: Appearance: Role: (Agent or Scientist) Rank: (If they are an agent, they are either 'Agent', 'Special Agent', or 'Senior Special Agent'. Scientists don't need to worry about this field) Specialization: (For scientists, this would be their primary field of study. Agents don't need to worry about this field. Fields of study can be various supernatural things (i.e. ) Equipment: (Weapons and gear. Agents get bodyarmor, a rifle, and a pistol of any kind you wish. Scientists only have the kevlar woven into their suits for protection, and are given certain tools for their duties with the group and a pistol. All characters have Throat Mic System TM02 series microphones to communicate) Years of Experience with ADPCT: (max: 6) I hope I can at least get this RP started and on the right track. Hopefully I can have more details of the plot put together in my head prior to the start up, which will probably be once I get about three others, depending on how long that takes. My profile:: Name: Tony Carson Age: 33 Sex: Male Description: Born into a divorced family, Carson never had stability in his life. He graduated high school and attended a university where he accomplished sum cum laude and earned his Masters degree in Law. He quickly rose the ranks in the FBI and was eventually approached by a government official who offered him a much better paying job at the ADPCT. He accepted and became their first agent. Appearance: In his typical agency suit. Role: Agent (Team Leader) Rank: Senior Special Agent Specialization: N/A Equipment: Dragon Skin bodyarmor, G36C, FN Five-Seven USG. Years of Experience with ADPCT: 6 I know this was long and bulky, but if you read all of it my apalogies to you, for you really have a lot of spare time on your hands and I can't help but feel sorry for you. Also, sorry it's so bulky... Edited by ThatGuyFromThatOnePlace, 16 Nov 2008, 11:56 AM.

A brief history of the Agency for Defense against Paranormal and Catastrophic Threats: The ADPCT was formed roughly six years ago by the United States government to defend national security from threats presented by "unnatural and unearthly" means, as well as massive threats posed by other nations/groups. Other agencies were ill-equipped to deal with these threats, or were too public. The ADPCT is headed by Special Agent in-Charge Bruce Graves , a veteran FBI agent and Los Angeles police officer. SAC Graves reports directly to the president when he makes his reports. The budget of the ADPCT is over $500 million in secret, off-shore US government bank accounts. The agency employs close to 125 field personnel. Roughly half are agents, with the other half being scientists working to help the agents in the job of combating new and important threats to "national security". In the past, the agency has delt with 48 cases of paranormal activity, with a recent spree of them occuring within days of each other. Sometimes it's ghosts that are rendered "killable" by specially devloped ADPCT bullets, other times it's changes in the fabric of space that are fixed by the cunning of their scientists. Overall, the agency has performed highly and is among the President's favorite assets. |
