May 2008 - Vampires did not marry humans. Anyone who said otherwise was most likely somehow involved with a cheesy romance novel. Vampires, however, did attend weddings, and sometimes they even found themselves as the best man at such events. In another time and place, it would of been his first love as the bride and his childhood friend that stood by her side now would be standing in his place instead. It should of been his wedding, that he knew. The circumstances were such that such things that should be normal, things that should be expected, had been stolen away from him years ago. Vampires did not marry humans. He reminded himself yet again and enough times that he already lost count. He hated sunlight, but somehow managed to endure it long enough to get from the house to the car then from the car to the church. Churches... Buildings of those sort amused him at first only because humans believed that his kind couldn't set foot into them. Even if sunlight was a new enemy, God was not. That was another thing that humans sometimes got wrong. He had been going to midnight masses for years now, and never once suffered for it. Somehow it brought him comfort knowing that the higher power he always believed in was not punishing him for his current state of existence. It was comfort that always brought a smile to his face and doing so during the ceremony only caused those humans who had a direct view of his features to mistake it for happiness for the couple. Well he was happy for them regardless. Somehow he manage to survive it. God continued to protected him, sheltered him, and far more thoroughly than He did so for any of the humans present. The church's windows allowed just enough sunlight in to ensure that it was obviously daytime but not so much that he was forced to stand in it directly. What would the humans think if they knew God protected vampires just as much as them, perhaps even more so? The question remained unanswered only because he would do nothing to expose himself. God may shelter and love him still, but he didn't believe he would receive the same treatment from humans. He was sure most of them would panic. Indirect sunlight was manageable only because it lacked the sensation that he might just spontaneously burst into flames. He wondered if others like him felt that way, but the one who made him like this always avoided the subject. It was a topic that remained limited to the simple phrase of don't go in it any more than you have to, which always left him wondering if there was some sunlight-related trauma there. That speculation made it seemed inappropriate to inquire further. Another mad dash to another car, and he found himself hidden away from sunlight once again. The reception itself wasn't so bad despite all the trouble it caused him to even be there. Like any neighborhood that catered to the wealthy elite, London's Upper Phillimore Gardens was very discrete and very private. The neighbors probably didn't care for a wedding reception taking place in one of its mansions but with the noise level kept at polite levels, nobody had cause for complaining. The humans were discretely minding their own business thus didn't notice a lone vampire being smuggled in. A vampire who in turn was so drowned in the smell of humans that he failed to notice the scent of others of his kind anywhere in the vicinity. While far less exposed proved, the reception still proved to be far more dangerous. He was halfway through making the ceremonial toast when someone cut themselves. It wasn't much, most likely the result of a paper cut on a place card. The smell of it drove him crazy, enough that he wanted to pounce on the poor human and suck every last drop of blood out. He managed to control himself somehow, only really managing due to internal reminders that he didn't want be a monster of the sort that would soil his family's good name. It took only half a second, maybe even less than that. The humans didn't seem to notice anything was amiss as they eagerly waited for him to finish so that they may happily gulp down their champagne. He only pretended to take a sip, but the liquid that touched his lips went no further. Somehow he managed to get through a reception where he didn't eat the food. He was teased a few times about possibly being more nervous than the couple getting married but hardly anyone actually in the wedding party touched their meals. He was grateful for that. The dancing afterward wasn't really so bad, mostly because he didn't know anything other than the quickstep. It was enough that even though the female humans had a look about them that they would happily line up for hours just for a single dance with him, they also convinced themselves on their own that he couldn't possibly continue any longer. The maid of honor naturally abused her position, claiming him as her designated partner and would periodically request that he dance with her next. With his obligations inside met, Sacheverell wandered outside on the pretense of wanting some fresh air. It was already fairly late in the evening. The moon's position said that, and the sky was clear enough that he probably could of counted every star if he so wished. There was a faint hint of tobacco that was a bit stale from the last human that had wandered outside. He wrinkled his nose a bit, finding the smell more unpleasant that garlic was reputed to be. Was there anything humans got right besides sunlight? As he thought more, he decided that it was best that they were wrong on too many things. It was safer for him if really didn't know with complete accuracy as to what actually would kill his kind and what would not. The musical sound of breaking glass had his head jerked back to the direction of the house only due to the maddening smell of blood again. Sacheverell closed his eyes and took a few deep breaths. While managed not to actually do it, he still felt the urge to rush back in and suck every last drop out. |

Lilith for once in a long while was wearing a white dress that clung to her body softly. It looked, presentable. She had just finished her afternoon meal and was just wandering about. She liked to pick certain smells and track them. It was good practice as long as you tried not to track a single human. Or else she would be having another meal. Lilith leaned towards the wind as a certain smell caught her nose. Not just a a certain smell but a bundle of smells. A mass amount of humans were at a meeting of some sort somewhere. She followed the smell for a while. She was amazed she picked up a sent that was so far away. With every step she took the smell grew stronger. Finally the smell ended at a church. The one place where most thought vampires couldn't enter. Although, they really could do so at anytime they pleased. She made her way towards the windows of the church. She chose one towards the back where most wouldn't see her. Her eyes first found a smell who was different than the rest. He held almost every indication that he was another of her kind. Lilith smiled and let a laugh erupt from her being. See, at any time vampires could be in a church. Lilith let her black hair blow in the slight breeze. Her skin felt slightly numbed by the sunlight that shone over her. Her eyes watched the male that she thought to be one of her kind. He didn't eat a thing, nor did he drink the champagne. What a poor soul, Didn't know he could drink the champagne. Or maybe he did and it just didn't fancy him to do so. She was watching him with a smile before there was blood that erupted into the air. It made him stop for a second or two. He must have had some years on him or else that would be to hard for him, not killing every human in there that is. Then again, Lilith was merely three years old and she didn't tackle and kill the bleeding person. So maybe he didn't have many years on him. She watched as he danced with some of the humans and saw that one, who she had seen to be a maid of honor, claimed his as her own partner. This made Lilith smile. She never really understood why humans fawned all over them. Did they smell good or something? She watched the whole evening progress and amazingly she wasn't bored with it yet. It was night now and the moon hung over the sky like a painting over a wall. Lilith wandered around the yard seeing that the one she had been watching all night had wandered somewhere else. She predicted somewhere out in the yard. Now, had she been wearing black like she normally did she would have been able to hide and watch this vampire a bit better. Although, she was sure he could smell her now. He was outside were the smell of humans was less. Of course as she thought this someone else broke some glass and some skin. She could smell the bloody goodness coming from the mansion. Isn't it funny that so many humans are so oblivious to the actual truth about the other kinds that wandered around them. Her eyes caught the man she had been watching all night and she was wondering about approaching him. From the way he looked he probably had a few years on her. So, should they break into a fight she would have to be able to hold her own. Lilith wasn't much of a fighter but she could sweet talk most into shutting up and backing off. If it came down to it she'd do the same here. She approached the man softly and quietly. "So I see that you enjoy weddings?" She said with a hearty smile. "Blessing to them." She said with a glance over the man who stood before her. She was cautious for reasons that every vampire knew. If come across another of your kind most will kill you for fear you will kill them. This one had some connection with humans, so he might feel the need to protect them. None the less she would know what he felt because she could smell it. So long as she was breathing she would know this. Edited by Sikis1312, 17 Nov 2008, 07:51 PM.

Why hasn't someone done something to make the smell go away? Didn't they know? Of course they didn't. He was human once himself, and the memories were not so distance. He knew well enough that humans wouldn't notice the delicious scent of blood in such tiny amounts. The carpet had been his ally here, pristine white as they were before the reception party started. He was sure the mansion's owner had been going crazy all evening from food, champagne and now blood that had managed to find there way to the carpet at one time or another. He felt as if his rational was slowly slipping away, only to be taken over by a blood thirsty beast. It didn't help matters that he knew who's blood it was, having tasted it before. That made him want it all the more. Already his fangs were showing despite all internal protests when it stopped. Stopped wasn't exactly the right word as there was still a lingering scent in the air this time. The human that had cut herself would have been patched up, but not so much so that it blocked out the faint smell of fresh blood. He would go out of his way to avoid her for the rest of the evening. It really wasn't wise to be around humans with open wounds, even when said injuries were covered up, as they continued to test his ability to control himself. Sacheverell was not so old that he could resist the temptation that was fresh blood indefinitely. He lacked the practice for such things. He let out a sound that could only be described as relief as he regained his composure. It had been enough that he didn't notice that a human had apparently managed to sneak up on him. Human wasn't the right word to describe her, but he was do drenched in the smells of blood and humans to not recognize one that truly was another of his own kind. Sacheverell was not used to watching for others like himself. He was careless in that regard. He was sure they were out there somewhere but having encountered not soul save the one that made in the five years he had been this way, he developed an assumption they were solitary by nature and wished to be left alone. He would never have expected to have one approach him. The question she asked him was odd. "I could hardly think there could of been a wedding if I wasn't there." He wasn't being presumptions as he was just speaking of his place. Even if he was a vampire, it was still the best man's duty to ensure the wedding rings made it to the church safely and to act as one of the official witnesses. The other of which was looking for him at this moment, having caught her voice on the wind that spoke of polite inquiries as to his whereabouts. Most likely she had decided that he had rested long enough and was seeking her dance partner once again. He finally turned just enough to look at the one who addressed him. She was dressed in black. Sacheverell looked a bit taken aback by it as it was a very inappropriate color for a guest to be wearing. Ah but maybe she wasn't a guest, but one someone who lived in the area. That seemed far more likely. He cringed internally at the thought that they might have been making too much noise. Enough so that someone decided to come out for a polite chat about it so as to not have the police driving through the area. "You have my apologies if this gathering has become a bit of a nuisance to your neighborhood. I'll do what I can to rectify it for you. Please forgive us." |

Lilith leaned towards him and took in his interesting smell. She had tracked this certain smell which led her to the church. He smelled wonderful, but not as wonderful as the blood which had just recently been covered up. Nonetheless something on him carried in the air. She looked over him carefully. He looked like a model, another hint of his vampirism. "That is very true." She said in her normal musical way. "Unless another could have been the best man?" She said with the arch of her brow. She was sure no one else would have been the best man. There were reasons why he was chose to be so. Most had reasons for that sort of thing. She was still watching him cautiously. He wasn't making any defensive movements. Lilith still wasn't going to take her eyes off of him. She knew what he was, she was sure he'd know what she was soon enough. When he did she was going to need to becareful. Unless of course he already knew and was pretty relaxed. Either way, she was going to be a little cautious. "Unless you could make every human disappear without leaving a trace of blood behind, I'm not so sure that it would have stopped me from investigating. The noise isn't what brought me here." She said with a shiny flash of a smile. She was making it very clear without a problem that she was interested in the gathering. "I was just stopping by." She said with a casual tone. She could smell a little human girl approaching softly. Her voice seemed to carry. It sounded like the girl who claimed this fellow earlier. "Oh My apologies, I'm Lilith." She said with a smile. "You would be?" She asked with a slightly hurried tone. It wouldn't be long before the human tried to take this fellow away again and Lilith needed something to keep her busy. Again, there was something about the way this man smelled that interested her. Something different, something like nature. Dew.. grass... He smelled interesting. |

Sacheverell didn't answer the question. He didn't know this young woman in black. While she certainly had some business and reason for being in the general area, she clearly was not on the guest list. Her attire made that clear enough. That meant it wasn't her right to know why he was even chosen for the role he filled. There was a certain irony to his secretiveness only in that is was among the reasons he had been picked. He was far from what anyone would considered gossipy. It was also something that bothered him just a little only because he knew most humans were. He had always been discrete about things but to the extent that he currently was? Had he really always been like that or had part of his own human nature been overwritten with the transformation? The thought was rather disturbing only because he knew that sheer survival for any vampire depended being able to be secretive about one's own nature, especially with humans. He didn't like the possibility of having lost part of who he was. Sure his need for food had been replaced by a need for blood. His need for sunlight had been replaced by a need to avoid it. Those were little things only in that they did not redefine who he was. He wanted to believe that he was still the same person he always had been in that his personality remained unchanged. That he was still Sacheverell and not just by name. He could find no personality differences, even insignificant ones. Doubt that he could easily forget so much about himself did bring a certain amount of comfort. He really was still just himself. He did noticed that the young woman seemed a bit guarded with him. It seemed expected though and not because of what he was. Adult humans were rather foolish when it came to vampires, that he knew well enough. They often acted with a behavior that was similar to that of a moth drawn to a candle's flame. Behavior that could easily lead to their own premature deaths as the vampires there were drawn to were predators. He was not foolish enough to think that every one of his kind would think twice about bleeding a human dry. He wondered what bothered the woman in black until she said the most peculiar of things or at least something that would sound peculiar coming out of a human's mouth. The idea of making a large number of humans, blood and all, disappear without a trace did not sound so strange if said by another of his kind. He took a step further cautiously, sniffing at the air. He was almost sure that she was like him except that a complication presented itself in the form of one of the wedding's flower girls. He heard the child's footsteps breaking the grass, making a beeline straight to him. He tensed up as he watched the woman he believed to be a vampire, not taking her eyes off him. It was fortunate for the child's sake that she went to him as he scooped her up into his arms, where he held the child protectively. She was small enough that it wouldn't look suspicious to any of the humans. The child in his arms seemed to realize what the young woman was faster than he did for she was clinging to him with the sort of desperation that suggested her life might very well depend on it. The sensation was odd only because he knew adults would not notice nor would they notice that a small amount of their blood was taken away. Children were different. Sacheverell was also different only in that this child had been told that he was safe. She gave her trust to him for this reason as well as that he had proven on many occasions that he would not betray it. The vampire introduced herself as Lilith. He continued to hold onto the human girl, not taking his eyes off the vampire. "Sacheverell. You'll have to forgive me for not shaking hands as my arms are full at the moment." He could hear the maid of honor inside, still looking for him. It was soon followed by another voice from a human woman who was far more mature and very stern that verbally put the first into her rightful place for being too much of a bother. That brought a smile to him as Mother had that sort of affect on people. The distraction was brief but not enough to steal his attention completely away from Lilith. He set the child back down on the ground, with his eyes still on Lilith as he spoke the the child. "Go back into the house. Your mother is probably looking for you. I promise that I'll dance with you later." He looked at the girl long enough to put his finger over his lips to emphasize that this was their secret and watched as she mimicked the motion. He listened carefully at the sound of her going back to the house. His attention was entirely on Lilith at this point. "I think we can skip certain pretenses assuming we are both clear our mutual nature. I do want to know what your intentions are here. For starters, are you here because of me or because of them?" |

Lilith watched him with her cautious nature until she heard the arrival of footsteps. It was a human of course, although it's footsteps were too light that of someone to little. It had to be none other than a child.Lilith watched the little girl be swept up into the man's arms. Lilith's caution was wiped clean. Her eyes and friendly smile on the girl. Every want was shown in her eyes. Not a want for the blood of the child but the child herself. She was so beautiful to Lilith. She had always liked children. When she was human she would watch them just as she did now. They were so adorable, so innocent. When the child watched her like her life was depending on it. Lilith only watched her with a warm smile. The little girl trusted Sacheverell, this must mean that he wasn't much of a threat. Well, at least not to them. So he probably wasn't going to be much of one to her. She watched as Sacheverell spoke to the girl and told her to go back inside. She let a laugh escape her being as the little girl mimicked his movements. "I love children, in the innocent way." She said with her eyes turned back towards Sacheverell. His attention was now on her, hers on him. "Well, you of course. I have no reason to prey on humans who I don't know." She said with a calm tone. "Your scent is what brought me here. A wolf among the sheep." She said with another of her small laughs. "If I would have known it was a wedding a would have dressed for the occasion." She said with her normal flirtatiousness. "Don't worry I'm here not for war. I'm here merely because your smell has interested me so." She listened to his breathing seeing if maybe he was a sick vampire. If that was even possible. His breathing was normal, just like hers. She smelled the air with an curios facial expression. His smell was certainly interesting. |

Sacheverell waited until he heard the child's steps reach the door to the mansion, still not taking his eyes off Lilith for a second. "It is strange that the innocent see our nature most clearly." Strangely peculiar indeed and while he would like to know why it was so, he didn't think his need to know warranted frightening a bunch innocents just to try to figure something out. More importantly, it was best that they looked at vampires with distrust. His relief that the humans were not her real target quickly turned to guilt. If he had not been here, she might not have come at all. Even if Lilith claimed to not be interested in preying on them, one of the humans was a complete danger to herself and tested him twice already. Could Lilith restrain herself if there was yet another spilling of blood? Something that he was sure would happen again. "I would like to think of myself as the mongrel that guards the sheep, but I have no issue with wolves that had their fill elsewhere." That was a nice way of putting it, while making his position clear. He would have no problem with Lilith and would be friendly enough so long as she didn't do any hunting. These humans were off limits. He really didn't want to be fighting and not just because the humans he watched over would see. He would rather keep things neutral if not outright friendly with others of his kind. "And what's so interesting-" His voice cut off at the smell of blood again. He would of cursed under his breath except that Sacheverell was far too decent and well mannered for that sort of thing. He stared in the direction of the house, wanting it badly. It didn't help that this was the same blood he had caught the scent of once before, from the same human he had already tasted once. His resolve was tested further when several humans came rushing out. The first was a bridesmaid whose name he couldn't recall at the moment. Seeing Sacheverell, she immediately rushed over to give him a hug in effort of keeping him from seeing what was to come next. She gave Lilith a quick hi then made a comment about how delicate he was, not being able to stand the sight of blood. How wrong she was. He loved blood, loved the sight of it and loved the taste of it even more. He didn't protest her pushing his face against her in effort of keeping him from seeing what was to come next. The smell became stronger. He wanted it badly. While his face was pressed against the bridesmaid, Lilith would see the Maid of Honor herself with a linen wrapped around her left hand and spots of blood dotted her pink dress. The human had accidentally sliced it open while trying to cut herself a piece of cake. Two additional humans, both male, flanked her on each side as she was escorted to an automobile. The bridesmaid holding Sacheverell only pulled away after they drove off. She finally took note of what Lilith was wearing and how black it was. She wrinkled her nose in disapproval but said nothing. He brushed a hand against a spot near her collarbone. "There's mosquitoes out here. You should put something on that." The human put her hand to the spot, feeling two small welts. She still found the time to give him a kiss on the cheek before hurrying back inside. Sacheverell felt like kicking himself. He got away with it in the sense that the human didn't notice but drinking blood in front of another vampire was not necessarily the smartest thing to do. "Forgive me please for not sharing. I only recently been weaned off my creator's blood, and sometimes find humans a bit difficult to resist. At least, I've managed to not kill any." He didn't think it was a strange thing to say, even if had in a sense admitted that he was still very young in vampire years. Was there such a thing as vampire years? The idea seemed silly only in that his mind and body were hardy that of an infant. |

Lilith nodded her head softly. "It is interesting. It is good, it helps to keep them safe." She said with a nod of approval. She was glad they could see what they really were, Children should never be slaughtered. They were innocent creatures that had a long life ahead of them. Lilith turned to watch him speak to her in laying down the lines of food. "This wolf has no interest in your sheep." She said with a smile. "Just the other wolf who is guarding them." She watched him with interest now. All signs of cautiousness were gone. She was sure that if this vampire was going to attack her he would have done so after the child left. Lilith wasn't going to answer his question. She knew nothing of this man and wasn't going to let him in on her tracking secrets. As suddenly as he asked the smell of blood sprang through the air. Lilith watched the Maid of honor leave with blood spattered over her dress. "What a shame." She said as the girl left. "That'll leave a nasty mark." Lilith's body went a bit stiff. The blood was hard to resist. Earlier it wasn't in so much degree. Poor girl comes and draws blood several times. Humans were so- as the other girl called Sacheverell, Delicate. A smile landed on her face. She was sure he didn't hate blood. She was sure he loved it very much so. None of these humans would ever know. She was also sure that he wasn't delicate. He may act like it, but he was very from it. As she was thinking of this Sacheverell snuck himself a bite. She laughed as the girl kissed his cheek and walked away. "Not a big deal. You do what you have to. I just find it funny that she had no clue." She said in a smooth tone. "I've killed one. Foolish acts have consequences." She wasn't sure how long she could keep him. He was interesting, too interesting to let loose. She may have to talk to him again soon. Wouldn't be that hard for her to find him. Now, I know you are here for the wedding, do you spend a lot of your time with humans?" She asked with interest. Lilith had no intentions of harming him or anyone else around him. She was just interested in how he was able to go about these things. And of course why he smelled so good. |

Sacheverell might of said something about the supposed nasty mark that would be left, but he wasn't exactly in a position to. Not just because he had a bridesmaid trying to keep him from seeing much of anything as he was already helping himself to a quick bite. Whatever thought he had was lost in the delicious blood. Blood that he was sure he could drink all night, but he had to be careful so as to not kill the human nor leave telling evidence besides two little marks that he had passed off as being done by a villain insect. He smirked a bit at the bridesmaid's back due to her calling him delicate. The vampire most likely didn't believe it but was true. He had been delicate when he had been human himself, and he used to faint at the sight of blood until he developed an appetite for it. "It's better that they don't know what we are." He was caught up in the moment a bit too much, forgetting that this vampire he was spending time with was not another guest of some sort like himself. "I sometimes suspect Madison knows only because she used to never be so careless about me." Knows wasn't exactly the right word for what he meant. He did feel certain that she knew there was something off about him. Whatever it was he was doing to give himself away with that human, it was also not something overt enough that stood out to him. He was sure it was to be expected though. Out of all the many humans he had ever known and even those he would know in the future, it would be strange if not one ever noticed that there was something not quite right about him. Turning to look at the vampire again, he realized he might of said to much. "I don't intend to kill her though. If she confronts me on it, I'll offer to change her to like us." Lilith need not concern herself further on it as it has been his way of telling her that she need to not worry herself about their kind being exposed. There had been a bit of sadness to it only in that he knew the human wouldn't refuse if it came from him. She would only see getting to spend eternity with the person she had a crush on since they were young children and never quite got over it. Something he knew was complicated further by everyone else essentially trying to pair them off, especially after he let his first love be snatched up by someone else. That was his problem though and something he'd deal with when it became an issue as he was confident there was no ifs about it. "That's an odd question don't you think. I think its very necessary for both of us to spend a lot of time with humans or at least if we enjoy fresh meals." He was sure that wasn't what she had meant, but the question had been a bit personal. Enough so that Sacheverell was still deciding if he would answer it or not. |

"I would have to agree with you on that one." She said with a glance in the direction of the building. It would be horrible if humans found out what they were. They would end up living in fear. Afraid that the ones who would use them for food could find them. Some may handle it well but most wouldn't. "Well, there is at least one or two humans who know, if not a whole group." She laughed slightly. She was sure that this Madison he was talking about was the girl who kissed him. Either way it wasn't that important to her. She just hoped the poor girl didn't die because she knew. "Oh, well, That's better than her dying." She said with an apologetic tone. "Be careful though, Know that once you ask she will say yes." All humans did. "I'm pretty sure she'd fair well in our world. So long as she knows the rules." Lilith's part in her clan made her remember the rules that every vampire should know. Don't tell other of what you are, unless they are in your kind. Lilith turned her calm eyes onto Sacheverell. "I meant for more reason than just a meal." She said. "Nonetheless, they are quite interesting." She said with a smile. She walked towards him an inch or two so she could lean against a tree. "So, tell me got anything planned for later this evening?" |

He nodded silently as he likewise took a glance at the building. He knew that some of the humans inside would be able to handle it just because it was him. Others would be terrified regardless. A few he were sure would go made. What of the bride and groom that had already expressed a desire for him to be the godfather of whatever future children they had. Would those sentiments still remain as they were? He looked away and back at the vampire woman, not wanting to think on it too hard. He exhaled loudly when reminded that humans would always say yes. That was something he was sure of. He glanced up at the sky wistfully. He knew that if he was lucky that he'd never have to pose that question. The circumstances would be such that he'd just have to do it or let her die. It was a horrible think to wish for, but it would be easier than anyone having to live with a decision that might be regretted later. He felt conflicted and considering what Lilith had just said, it wasn't hard to figure out what it was about. Sacheverell didn't know his emotions could be so easily read by anyone and did next to nothing to guard them. "I do think ones like myself that didn't have a choice of any sort have it far easier. I do not lament any what ifs knowing that the only alternative that was awaiting was a coffin and feet of dirt above me." He felt content as he said that and even gratitude to the vampire that had essentially saved his existence. He would never develop that haunted look some had from wallowed in the sort of self-pity based on what one's life might of been had they remained human, regardless of if they had the choice in the matter or not. Sacheverell knew his other option and was happy to be freed of it. He was peculiar in that sense in that emotions ranged more in the positive direction than not. He glanced in the direction of the house again, this time feeling a mixture of joy and love. "What makes you think I came here for a meal at all?" She did remind him of something important though. He had not eaten properly at all once yet this evening and was feeling a bit hungry. The one human he did steal some blood from only served as a brief snack. He sniffed in her direction a bit as he followed Lilith over to the direction of the tree. "Would you mind?" He was asking Lilith if he could take some of her blood. "Or if you're hungry yourself, we could go elsewhere for a bite to eat." He emphasized elsewhere much harder than he intended, but his mind was on the fact that he considered the humans here to be off limits. |

"You sure have that right." She said with a nod of her head. So, Sacheverell had been turned as he had no other choice? Could that have been by force like hers was or by there being no other end than his own death? She sniffed the air and he of course smelled normal. She laughed at his comment. "What makes me think that? Well, you already snuck a bite. How many more did you plan on making?" She said as she gave him a 'what do you think your doing.' look. She was just playing with him. "No worries though, so long as like you said before, you don't plan to kill her." She watched the way he was acting and of course the way he was feeling. Although, she smelt that it wasn't that hard to sniff out. He was hungry, that was hard to overlook. That little snack wasn't going to be enough for him. What if he got hungry to the point of attacking her? As that thought crossed her mind Sacheverell asked if she'd mind if he had a little more to eat. Lilith wanted to say something along the lines of 'you read my mind.' but her reasons were different. "Just don't drink to much."She said with a smile. "Or else I'll drink from you too." Although should he go to far it would be because she had to not because she wanted to. She hated drinking other vampire's blood. "Again, If you need something to drink and those humans you protect are off limits, You may use me. I had enough to drink earlier." She thought it was funny that Sacheverell had followed her towards the tree in the first place and now he was asking her for her blood. What a vampire he was. Should he actually drink from her she would allow it, so long as he made sure that he was careful not to drink to much. It made sense that it didn't bother him, he was drinking his creators blood. Lilith had never had vampire blood, just that of humans. |

Sacheverell didn't put much thoughts into her agreeing with him. It was probably granted that the ones like himself had it easiest in that respect. There might be some that would prefer death. He had never been so religiously narrow minded that he would believe the undead were all cursed by God, especially now that he was one of them. "That bite I couldn't help. Madison's blood was driving me nuts, and it didn't help things that I knew what her blood taste like." Sometimes he would swear that the human knew and wanted him to drink his blood or that she was just determined to expose him. She was certainly a bit of a hazard to him, making him feel happy that she had to be taken away despite the unpleasant circumstances. "I don't plan to kill anyone." He was sure that he could kill if he had to. He would prefer to pass away his time never having things come to a point where he would find himself needing to defend himself. That would be nice. "Thank you. I shall take no more than a pint, but you may take from me if I do." Sacheverell wasn't expecting to take even that much. He was in a sense telling Lilith that she would receive no quarrel from him if she drank from him in reply to him taking too much. He moved even closer to her, enough that his own breath touched her skin as he looked for just the right spot. As it would turn out, Sacheverell would not have the opportunity to find out what her blood was like as he caught the scent of another human that had wandered outside. A human that caused him to radiate intense feelings of disgust and loathing. It was not directed at Lilith as his voice was still pleasant enough when he spoke in a voice too soft for human ears. "Come with me." He backed away from Lilith abruptly. This human was male and one that Sacheverell refused to look at only because every inch of his body said to kill him. Not to drink his blood, just kill. "Cousin. You've been out here too long." Sacheverell knew without looking the way this human looked at him amorously. It had been difficult to just ignore as a human. As a vampire, it was just downright unbearable. The human tested his resolve in all the wrong ways, enough that he would leave even if Lilith didn't follow. "I'm leaving." He knew without looking that his cousin was annoyed at being brushed off yet again, but Sacheverell was not going to deal with incestuous advances. It wasn't appropriate, far less coming from a male relative. He gestured to Lilith to come with him but started to walk away from the mansion to where his own car, an antique white MGA two-seater roaster with red interior, which was parked across the street. He was glad that he got his keys back before going outside as it meant not needing to go back in to retrieve them. Sacheverell moved swiftly, almost too swiftly for a human but not so much that it would raise suspicion. He waited for Lilith, leaning against the left side of the vehicle while holding the passenger door open for her. If there was any hesitation on her part, he hoped she would come along. |

Lilith nodded her head as she now knew who Madison really was, not the girl he drank from but the one who was taken away. "I see." She said with a smile. Right now it was just small talk. She was preparing her mind from being drank from. She smiled as he had moved closer, well, at least she'd know what it felt like. Then almost as suddenly as he was breathing on her a human found his way outside. Sachie was filled with hatred. But from the way he spoke it wasn't aimed at her, but him, this cousin. Lilith watched the two and nodded as she followed Sachie as he backed away. She didn't move too close, just followed him out. "Well, It seems we won't have time to meet." She said with a tone that could only be described as sarcasm. "Nice noticing you." She said as she found her way to the car door that Sacheverell held open for her. "Thank you." She said as she slid into the car. Her eyes were still watching the cousin that Sachie seemed to hate so much. He was in love with someone, but it wasn't her. Thank God it wasn't her. Lilith liked men of course but not ones who thought of their own cousins as... fair game. "I see he likes you too much." She said as she had to change smell to see at the last moment. She had to be careful at what she said. "Wait, where are we going?" She asked with a flirty tone. "Somewhere to eat I hope." She leaned towards him casually. again, not to close but just enough to make her point. She was slightly still angered that the human had interrupted their almost food fest. It would have been interesting to see what it would have felt like to been drank from, well, from her own kind. "So, tell me about your reasons for becoming a vampire?" She asked as it was still bugging her at how he had said it was like a last resort for him. "Was it your only choice other than death?" She was glad that he was what he was or else she wouldn't of met him this fine evening but then again, would he have been able to live as a human if there was any other choice? |

Sacheverell was glad that Lilith followed him. He was sure that if she stayed behind that she would be harassed by his incestuous cousin until she choose to act in ways that he would not. The guy had a dangerous habit of being jealous of every woman that Sacheverell talked to. An angry vampire was likely to act in only one such way when not being held by family relations that would be upset by the outcome. He wasn't worried about taking off so suddenly. Enough of their own family had been there. They would be able to figure out without a word from him personally to know that he was about to be hit on yet again. He shut the door quickly then moved around to his own side, which had been left unlocked. It was almost always just left unlocked as he usually left the top down in which case a locked door would be pointless. Only garden gnomes and elves would be deterred if he or anyone else even bothered. He replied to her comment only after the engine came to life. "He's been told many times to stay far away from me." It was clearly a touchy subject. Even an otherwise happy vampire wasn't going to be all moonlight and roses on every subject and was going to have some things he didn't want to talk about. "I just want to be somewhere that is not here. You may choose the destination. Somewhere to eat would be nice." Sacheverell already shifted the car into gear and was moving out. He didn't have a problem changing directions of wherever Lilith picked was in the opposite direction. Sacheverell's dark mood was lifted when Lilith asked him for his reasons for becoming a vampire. It wasn't like he just woke up one morning then decided that he wanted to become a vampire that day thus approached one and asked to be turned. The thought amused him greatly, enough so that he let out a brief laugh. It was an odd sound as he was usually all to careful to not make facial gestures of the sort that would show off his fangs so overtly. It was fortunate that the street was otherwise deserted of both pedestrians and other traffic. "Yes, does that sound so strange to you though to hear that I would of otherwise be completely dead now? He was one of my tutors when I was younger. It wasn't like in those silly books where a vampire turns someone as a random choice or by sheer accident. Does that even happen?" This question he added at the end wasn't really meant as that. He was just expressing his own disbelief at such things. He felt confident in his own belief that turning a human into their kind was always done as a deliberate act. Maybe some vampires liked to claim they were accidents, but maybe they also just didn't get along with the one that made them that way. Sacheverell was glad that he did get along well with his own. |

"well, I see this is a touchy subject" She said with the playful push of his shoulder. "No worries, let us move on." She said not quite sure she could answer the destination question. She wasn't sure where to go in general. She was just sure that she wanted to go somewhere. She like how he laughed so suddenly upon the talk of his creator. "Well, I don't think it's ever an accident." She said with a slight nod. She did take note that his fangs showed as he laughed. Why was he so interesting? A question she wasn't going to get over so soon. That she was sure of. She couldn't help but to smile as he laughed and spoke again. "So, were would you like to go?" She asked still leaning towards him. "I don't have any place i'd like to go." She said with a smile. Where would they go? They both were in need of something to eat, other than that she wasn't sure where to go. "Hopefully we are going to get something to eat." She said with a smile. "You were quite thirsty back there and Now I am too." She said with the raise of her eyebrows. She hoped that dinner would be good, whether it be short or long. She was interested in what was about to happen. Well, If dinner didn't show up soon she might have to ask Sachie to spare- no that would never happen. There might end up being a sneek attack on someone's neck. Be it the next guy to fawn all over her or the next closest thing. "So what do you do for a living other than eating." She said with a smile in his direction. He had a nice car he must make a lot of money. That or he had a rich family. Maybe that's what it was? A rich family. Well, she did ask. |

Touchy subject was a major understatement. More accurate would be to say that it was an embarrassing one that slandered their family's otherwise good name. He was glad that it wasn't a name that was significant enough to warrant the sort of attention that came in the form of bothersome photographers. More importantly was that anyone in the know of it also was aware that Sacheverell was not reciprocating the advances. He was likewise glad that she didn't try to claim vampires occurred by accident. Although he felt that the relationship between vampire and creator was special enough to not prey into it with her. "Hmmm...." Where did he want to go? "Technically I should probably go to confession due to those murderous thoughts that I fortunately did not act upon, but I shall assume that I will live long enough to do that some other day." As joking as it might have sounded, he was completely serious on that. While Catholicism wasn't England's most dominate religion, it was the one he grew up subscribing too. He even took communion, having found that he could get away with just sticking those dried up wafers to the roof of his mouth until they dissolved. "I think I would like to go to the opera, but it might cause too much of a scandal if we should be caught sneaking in without tickets." That was something he was sure would gain some attention from photographers. His family might be insignificant enough when it gathered in private, but that was not something that could be counted upon if all caution was tossed completely to the wind. He didn't mention that if he wanted to badly enough, he could get tickets on such short notice as that would also require abusing his family's position too much. "Would you like to go to Paris with me? I do mean right now but if you don't have a passport on you and don't mind things not being direct from the human fresh, I have a couple bottles of champagne in the trunk." He had been completely serious all accounts and was hoping she carried a passport on her. Sacheverell's own lifestyle was such that he had his on him at all times just in case one of these spur of the moment sort of trips came up. If she didn't, perhaps they could travel through the countryside a bit as the champagne he was referring to had all been drained out and replaced with human blood. "You mean besides sponge off my trust fund while I wait for my mortal parents to slowly wither away and die?" Now he was joking as he did care for them greatly, enough that he'd like them to stick around as long as was possible while leaving them human. He did think there was a bit of uselessness that came with that lifestyle of idle wealth. "In some ways I am very stereotypical for our kind, complete with a castle of sorts and a snooty title. Mother would be very furious if she knew I had been permitting you to address me so informally. You may call me Sachie if you so wish." He gave a bit of a smile at that for having taking the informality a step further by allowing her to call him by a pet name of his give name. He was taking things a bit for granted that she was of what his parents would call the right sort due to where they met, but it wouldn't matter greatly even if she wasn't. Vampires were in some sense a special kind of family only in that he shared a secret with them that couldn't share with anyone else. It didn't matter that he didn't feel a bond in any sense with any of them. It was the secret itself which counted. |

"Well if you do decide to act upon those feelings it give me a call." Every Vampire who decided to act upon such a desire should have another to help said vampire stay under control. Lilith would do so for Sacheverell. If he did decide to do so, he would need someone to help bring him back down to earth, or else other humans would be in danger."Unless of course you do decide to go and confess, I still would like to see that." "Well, we could go another time then. When we have bought tickets." She said with a nod. She was making the hint that she wasn't going to just disappear. "Paris? I would love to go to Paris with you." She said with a smile and turn in her seat. "Well, Just depending on our way of transportation to Paris I think you should have something to drink, whether it be that stuff in the back or something else." She said with a smile. She always worried, it was just something she did in hoping that there wouldn't be a fight or worse a public show of their feeding processes. "I brought my passport, I always do." She said with a wave of it in her hand. "Well be happy that you have parents to sponge off of." She said with some flirty tone. "Well, money and parents that is." She said with a turn of her eyes direction. "Not all of us are so lucky." She said with a laugh. "I would know." This topic didn't bother her it was something she lived with for a very long time. It wasn't hard to talk about and actually made her laugh sometimes. "Sachie it is." She said with a giggle. "Even though that is a pet name of a sort or kind." She turned towards him again. "Sachie, is much easier to say. Although, Sacheverell has a nice ring to it." She said not really wanting to talk about her dangerous name. She was quite interested in how easy it was to sit, talk, and almost eat with this vampire. He wasn't like others who tried to kill her because of what she was. "This is going to be fun. Your so easy to talk to and be with. I Barely even know you Sachie." She said with a flirty tone. She knew no different. It was how she was with most. She was trying to think upon what they would do in Paris. "So what are we going to do when we are there?" She said with a curios look on her face. Of all things they were vampires that had endless time on their hands and many a possibility of things to do. She awaited his question eagerly. |

With a stern glance, Sacheverell emphasized that the topic was no longer up for discussion. Yes he entertained thoughts that he could only describe as murderous, but he would not act upon them. That he was a vampire and had to feed off humans to sustain himself was hardly a justifiable reason. Murder in his mind was a sin, and killing was even less excusable when his continued existence no longer depended on killing anything. It made him feel blessed in that respect, but he was not perfect and above doing wrong things. "What's so intriguing about our kind going to confession? Do you believe we are above such things or do you count us among the inescapably dammed?" He had to admit that he was afraid at first. That lasted until his own creator forced him into a church thus in turn forcing Sacheverell to experience first hand that he wasn't going to be smited down just for entering religious places or touching such artifacts. The stories were wrong in that respect. He considered making a detour just to show Lilith, having not noticed her sneak in earlier during the wedding. He could do better by showing her such an artifact that he kept on his person but would wait to see how she responded first. He was curious as to how she would react. It was with some irony that when Lilith decided she would love to go to Paris, causing him to pull over to get out his cell phone that the building he parked in front of was a church of all things. He sent off a rather long text message that took all of a second to type. The inhuman speed of it was something he clearly enjoyed. Unfortunately the human at the other end would not be so speedy and while he knew it would be read with some urgency, things would be acted upon and responded to at a speed that could only be considered human. It was with some reluctance to just sit there staring at the device and wait that he pocketed it away for the time being. He wondered what exactly Lilith meant that not all are so lucky. She must have some money considering where he found her. More than likely it was the parents she no longer had. He knew it was impossible to tell with vampires just how old they really were. One could be young like himself and only few years past the time he was changed or an ancient. There were little things like speech patterns and mannerisms that could give away an ancient one but with diligence, even those could be discarded in favor of what was current. This he knew only because his own creator was very ancient and equally adept at keeping up with human trends. He got the vague impression that he was being flirted with. Probably his own fault for mentioning he had both money and the right sort of pedigree. Things that would have human ladies all over him regardless of what his appearances were. That he wasn't ugly was just an added bonus. Yes, she definitely was flirting with him. While he didn't feel attraction in any human sense as it really was more about the blood than anything else for him, he was not completely immune to such things. He completely ignored her question about what they would do in there, assuming it was about Paris as he was still waiting for a response from his cell phone. With the automobile turned off, he shifted his position enough to hover at the edge of her seat. Something unnatural for a human as it would be too uncomfortable for them to maintain it, but the street seemed deserted enough that he wasn't worried. If Lilith wanted to flirt with him, there was no reason he couldn't enjoy himself either. "So do I still get a taste?" He was speaking of drinking her own blood again, already sniffing around where he would bite while politely waiting for her say so. |

Lilith turned her head to the side. "Well, I'm not really sure. It would be interesting to find out." She said trying to think hard upon this subject. "I do realize that we can go into a church, I mean you can, you were in one. So That means the religious aspect was all wrong. We are not eternally Damned." She said fully knowing she had her own private relationship with God. "I'm not sure about the artifacts though." She said as though she knew she had never touched a religious artifact in all her life. She did notice that it may not be true after all Sachie was apart of the wedding in a church. There had to be something in there he could have touched that was religious. She gave a defeated sigh as her thoughts came to an abrupt halt. She wasn't sure if they could touch religious things or not. "I do know that a vampire going to a confession would be interesting because well, they are human of all things. Us confessing our drinking habits to them would be hilarious." She noticed most of his questions were aimed upon the last thing she replied to, but she was interested in the church itself more than the people in it. He disregarded more of her questions and hovered near her. She smiled at him and tried to control her hands and keep them in her lap. "I don't see why you shouldn't." She said with the raise of her eyebrows. "I already told you that you may do so earlier." She paused to let an even breath escape her. "Thanks for being so polite though." Then she fell silent and again she fought the urge to wrap her arms around his neck. She didn't know him that well and she should be careful. If and when he pressed his lips to her neck she wouldn't be able to control were her hands went and would let them move freely. For now they needed to stay in her lap. She watched Sachie with a seductive look on her face. While she flirted he was set on drinking from her. Interesting way they saw each other. |

Sacheverell was amused by her reaction to religion. She didn't believe that they were eternally damned yet was not sure of artifacts. "You do realize though that you confessed to me at having killed someone. I don't believe that would be any less sinful for us than it would be for humans." He was suggesting that he soul was in jeopardy of being eternally damned should she never feel any remorse for the action nor sought absolution for it. The idea bothered him just a little. As for artifacts, he knew the idea that it would repel them was all nonsense. Why allow vampires into churches then not let them touch anything. It was a foolish notion. If she really did see him go in or out of one earlier today, she should of also have noticed that he endured no discomfort other than those brief hateful moments of sunlight. If left completely to his own devices, he would never enter it and try to find ways to avoid it. However telling humans they needed to have their wedding at night just for him was going too far as well as highly suspicious behavior. It did work to his advantage though that he was diagnosed as being highly allergic to sunlight, which naturally resulted in the other humans being very insistent about minimizing his contact with it. He let Lilith continue talking uninterrupted even though he didn't agree with what she was saying. However things like confession were private matters. It was fine to say yes, I did that, but anything beyond that was inappropriate. He had during that time stuck a couple fingers into the collar of his shirt to fish something out. Having retrieved it, he dropped a golden religious artifact onto the car's dashboard for Lilith to see. He had thought of just dropping it on her lap, but a vampire who possibly had been avoiding crucifixes for decades or even centuries, the action might be too startling. "I hope that clears one thing up for you and in case you're wondering, none of the other religious artifacts have been a problem for me either." Sacheverell was probably too polite. He did believe that good manners was always better than no manners. Having received consent to bite a second time, he decided on a spot that he first brushed with his lips as if to kiss. Something that fooled the humans which he did only out of habit. While his fangs came next and even went so far as to touch her skin, the actual biting got called off abruptly as God Save the Queen could be heard from his pocket. He looked like he wanted to swear but was too well trained not to. Instead he jerked back into the driver's seat as he got the cell phone out. The display showed that it was from the human he had been waiting on, who had bad timing as always. Sacheverell answered it with just his given name. While it did say that whatever relations he had with the human at the other end was probably mostly informal, he also did so out of habit. He pulled the phone away from his face to address Lilith. As it would turn out, she was the reason for the call. "Lilith, dear. I need your full name as it appears on your passport. Apparently the airport security is a bit funny about that sort of thing and won't let you near the plane if they don't match. That is if you would still like to go to Paris." He had been very serious in his offer of it. As for what they would do after they got there, that would be decided if she still wanted to go. Sacheverell had no desire to drive down to the British Channel and take a boat across when planes were so much faster. |

Lilith didn’t have a response towards the artifact he threw onto the dashboard. It gave off no ward or threat to her as he threw it onto the dashboard. She might have to touch it to see if that even did anything. She let her eyes drift towards Sachie as he moved in to have his little sip. She let her arms move up towards his neck as he kissed her throat and even got as far as his fangs touching her skin. Then the phone’s silly little ringtone buzzed throughout the car. Lilith let out a disgruntled noise as Sachie pulled away. Sachie looked as though he wanted to curse, well their faces probably matched. She was very close to finding out what it felt like to be drunk from when you were of the kind to drink from others. It seemed she would have to find out another time. She watched Sachie as he spoke to her about the passport. “Lilith Darkblade.” She said before turning her eyes towards the Crucifix. She leaned forward and wrapped her fingers around it without the slightest hesitation. “No problem for me either.” She said under her breath. Sachie would have probably heard it but she wasn’t worried about him hearing it was the other person on the line. “Paris waits.” She said with a smile and a glance back in Sachie’s direction. She was thinking upon her name. It was really a name fit for a vampire. Well, she was only kept alive for her to become a vampire. So, her name wasn’t decided until after she was about four years old. She really needed a nickname or something. Her name was too dangerous. It just sounded like it should befit a vampire, what would it look like compared to what she was. Her thoughts drifted towards Sachie. He was so willing to drink her blood, to take her to Paris, to let her travel with him. Why was he letting her? Was there something here he didn’t want her near? Maybe not, maybe he was just as bored as she was and wanted someone to be with. He might have just been a friendly, polite, and well mannered man who wasn’t a jerk like most of the male population. She liked to think of it that way. She was watching Sachie with a smile upon her face and she was definitely flirting with her eyes again. Edited by Sikis1312, 20 Nov 2008, 09:12 AM.

Sacheverell repeated Lilith's full name to the human at the other end then hung up without another word. He didn't expect any further phone calls but didn't put it into silent mode either just in case there was an issue resulting in the need for someone to call him. Even though London's Heathrow airport was not all that far away from where they were, he still expected that he required would be waiting for him at the airport. Human assistants were only useful if they were efficient in their jobs. He put the phone away without saying another word on the matter. He did however think to himself about her name. In his mind, it sounded like the sort of alias a vampire would take after a millennium of feeling like they would never be at risk of exposure. Certainly not the sort of name that anyone would ever be born with. That could make things interesting as the perspective of the old ones was something he was curious about. More so was how well they were adapting. "Yes, Paris waits." He restarted the car and started driving again. Sacheverell was fairly sure she was looking at him in that way again but wasn't looking at her at the moment. Being a vampire didn't mean he didn't need to pay attention to traffic as he would rather not create an accident that would damage his car. The airport only took about twenty minutes to get to, perhaps less as there was not a lot of traffic on the road in the first place. He didn't bother driving to the parking area and instead headed in the direction of the terminals, which he appeared to be scanning. As he pulled up to the curb, a human approached the automobile and opened the door for Lilith.
