The Lazarus Initiative. A proposed Clans and Guilds storyline. "Poverty is Slavery." Somalia (Somali: Soomaaliya; Arabic: الصومال transliteration: aṣ-Ṣūmāl), officially the Republic of Somalia (Somali: Jamhuuriyadda Soomaaliya, Arabic: جمهورية الصومال transliteration: Jumhūriyyat aṣ-Ṣūmāl) and formerly known as the Somali Democratic Republic, is a country located in the Horn of Africa. It is bordered by Djibouti to the northwest, Kenya on its southwest, the Gulf of Aden with Yemen on its north, the Indian Ocean at its east, and Ethiopia to the west. "You can't build a strong corporation with a lot of committees and a board that has to be consulted every turn. You have to be able to make decisions on your own." - Rupert Murdoch. The Lazarus Inititiative is possibly the greatest internationally recognized experiment in neo-colonialism ever conducted, drafted by the board members of The Lazarus Group at their heasquarters in Chiba city, Japan. It passed through the United Nations with all the major states approving of it, overtly because it could possibly bring order to the region, possibly even influencing surrounding areas and covertly because of the vast possibilities for exploitation of the nation's natural resoruces. The plan involves a military campaign conducted by private contractors, a war fought by mercenaries and guns for hire, using the clans and guilds in place of "real" soldiers so that governments can keep their hands clean of anything that might go awry when the plan is initiated. United Nations peacekeepers and UN observers will accompany what many have come to call the invasion force, there to insure that international law and the laws of war are upheld, that no human rights are violated and to help soothe the masses that oppose the plan. Lazarus has voiced it's support for the current government, already funneling weapons into the region via a number of means, intending to make a puppet of them in order to use the country as a base of operations on the continent as well as to secure lucrative contracts involving the nation's natural resources, namely the oil or at least the possibility of oil in the Puntland region. The task they face is not an easy one, seeking to reign in the anarchy that runs rampant throughout the land, bringing secessionist regions back under the rule of the president in Mogadishu and stamping out the influence of various warlords and bandit leaders that plague the countryside. "While the State exists there can be no freedom; when there is freedom there will be no State." - Vladimir Lenin The most staunch opposition the plan faces is a group that call themselves The Cadre, a vast organization of loosely allied and self proclaimed freedom fighters from across the globe who see the Initiative as the first move made by their greatest enemy, seeking to bring their own brand of freedom to the nation and to take up arms against Lazarus and everything that it represents. Some say that their aim is to change the face of the continent, to bring it the freedom to utilize it's natural resources for it's own good and not that of foreign businessmen and the governments that stand behind them. They are the firey idealists, identifying themselves with the colour red and singing songs of victory before the war has even begun, at least that is the face of their organization. In reality they are a mix of firey young people with strong ideals and a rifle in their hans and the elite footsoldiers of revolutions the world over, naming themselves for Valdimir Lenin's idea of a cadre of professional revolutionaries to serve as the vanguard for the main event, in this case being the failure of the Lazarus Initiative and the freedom of the Somali people, wether they like it or not. Well, that's the idea at least, it needs alot of fleshing out and such so we all know who is who and all that. Yeah, work to be done on it and stuff before it gets all ... launched and stuff. ![]() Even an expression of interest would be appreciated. The aim is to create a storyline involving as many people as possible, meaning as many clans as I can get involved and even people who haven't played in c/g before or don't play anymore. It is pretty ambitious though, aiming to be more than just a single thread and involving a big arsed battle with all sorts of pvp and NPC death as armies and ideologies and stuff clash ... yeah. ![]() Anywyas, I was hoping to at least generate some interest and maybe get some discussion going ... or for someone to demand that I be more coherrent in my articulation of ideas and stuffses. There will be cookies for whoever chooses to participate. |

I like the plan. C/G needs more shit like this. I recommend contacting the leaders of all the clans on C/G to see their opinions on this storyline, and how they can participate. I'll probably pm them about it as well. Xenos will be participating based on the highest bidder for violence and gore. |

I've sent a PM to the other clan leaders with a link to this thread in it. Also, more players like Khronos would be welcome as well as the clans and guilds, players with characters that aren't directly affiliated with anybody else as of yet. I've got a character like that who I intend to participate, as well as the one I play as the leader of Force Intel. |

I'll have in. I may bring back Igraine to play as well, if EB will have me again. ![]() I like this idea - this c/g hasn't this kind of "world plot", have they? They need to be more awesome. |

EB will always welcome you, darlin'. Anyway, I haven't gotten any complaints from any EB members so I'm just going to assume they're all fine with joining. If not, well, they don't have to participate. |

Hey, even if you don't get more members, the pair of you would do.![]() More will come, in good time and with advertising ... and roleplaying, people like clans that do stuff. If you need more members I guess I could ask Jill about making you a banner and ... stuff. She makes pretty banners, I promise. She did a few of those forum award ones too. Oh, and I'll advertise it in my siggy too. |

Though I'm just a member, let me note that any comments that have no grounds, such as your racist statement, will be noted later on by the moderator/admins. This thread was meant to help activity with the C/G section, not to get your panties in a twist because you are from the place where the thread mentions and think Winter is being prejudice against another race (which is SO far from the case at hand). If you have a problem with that, you can leave since I highly doubt jealousy is being provoked here. Change your attitude before you're "reddy to play," because with that kind of thought, I don't think you'll find any playmates. This is for fun. Not to boost your ego while treading on someone else's work. Winter worked hard on this. You should damn well be happy about that much. -nuff said. |

Alright, so I need to hear from any clan leader who are interested. You know, to sort out who's who and all of that and so we can work out who is meant to be shooting at what before things get started. It might also be an idea to work out why everybody would be there, maybe see if any of the clans can interact with that sort of thing or whatever. I mean, my clan would be there because they're Lazarus employees and since it's a war fought without government people and stuff there would be a shit load of mercenaries present too ... Umm ... yeah. |

That would mean the majority of C/G. There's a decent amount of mercenary clans, unless my memory is failing. This probably means competition for money, etc. It's fortunate I'm not a clan leader anymore so Xenos can participate for the lolz. |

I got my other character to do that. He's also one of them Rebel people, partly for great lulz and also so I have somebody to shoot at. I'm still not sure that it's what they meant when they said ye could join two clans though ... |

Still in. I think we were trying to find a reason to work with FIU again, so this is a pretty good opportunity to be like, "hai guyz!11!1" However, being that we don't choose sides often, we'll most likely be there just to observe, fuck shit up, and be the happy go lucky vampies that we are as we go along. |

Outstanding. If you like, you could come up with whatever reason you like for your clan to be there. Something distinctly EB like a rogue vampire who is going around pwning villages or whatever. Or rich people giving them money to fight their war for them. ![]() A vampire epidemic would be pretty lol, rogues running rampant across the Somalian countryside or whatever ...

Just in case anybody wants the banner, add the link to whatever yourselves though. What? I'm lazy. ![]() Jill is great fun to put to work on graphics. Thank you Jill. Anyways ... "More vampres si-uh ... ma'am." "More?" "Yes." "Fucking hell, why more?" "BECAUSEMOAR!" Andandand ... Kalvin, Kelly and their wet behind the ears NPC friends are already looking pretty outclassed so we could still use some friends for the rebels. Just in case anybody wants to play but doesn't want to join one of the clans or guilds. And Lazarus could always use more mercs too, if peoples dun wanna play stinky rebel folk. ![]() |

Just an idea... I'm assuming the Force Intel are aware of the nature of Eternal Blood being a bunch of vampires. That might be reason enough for EB to show up when FIU is doing things, even if just to observe them for the time being. EB watches FIU because FIU knows they're vampires, and it's good for vampire survival rate to keep an eye on possibly uppity humans in the know about such things. FIU notices but doesn't know what agenda EB has if any so starts watching them in turn. Go go paranoia. |

I don't give a damn if the Fraternity aren't interested in this, I am ! Seeing how the Fraternity are basically mercs/assassins, it would seem natural to have some of us in this thing, either working for Lazarus or some other employer to silence people, help arms dealers, take care of opposition leaders, that kind of stuff. My two cents, and way to go Wintermute, this seems like a great idea ! |
