shiitake mushrooms problems

Regular Posts: 383 Group: Members Member #78 Joined: 8 September 2007	I love shiitake mushrooms. Unfortunately, when I eat them, I get a headache an hour later, and my eyeballs get puffy. The effect is similar to when I ingest MSG (and since I'm the one who cooks, I don't put any MSG in food, and definitely not on mushrooms). I don't eat a lot of it (given that its 5 times more expensive than beef or pork). Could it be an allergy? Or is it something about shittake mushrooms themselves?

Regular Posts: 383 Group: Members Member #78 Joined: 8 September 2007	I did a bit of research and apparently mushrooms are a source of natural MSG. Bummer. I also found out that, supposedly, MSG doesn't cause allergies. Yeah, right.
