Soo, next to the 'What's your first name?' topic, I thought I'd make this. What name would you wish your parents gave you? Mine is slightly exotic; I wish my name was Rudjedet. It's Ancient Egyptian for 'she who is strong of backbone', and it's from a literate story known as 'The Tale of King Khufu's Court', as written on the Westcar Papyrus. Though I wouldn't mind being called Belle either. ^^ |

My parents almost named me Morgan but didn't. Honestly, I would rather that they had only because my actual name is like too many syllables so absolutely nobody wants to call me by it. If left entire to me, I would of named myself Sheard... which is technically a surname that means something like hey this person lives between two hills [and I live in a valley], but I cannot see my family ever having been that clever. |

I'd like something a little more "normal" a little more memorable. Carina is like the hardest name in the world for people to remember. It's always Catrina or Corin or something like that. It's not that bad though, I do kinda think it's a pretty name. But if I had to change it... I've actually become really fond of Anne, because it's simple and easy. I also like Chloe. My parents were super close to naming me Marina and I'm sooooo thankful they didn't. Sounds like a mermaid name. I'm not a place where you store boats thank you! |

Anne, honestly, Carina is a beautiful name. It fits you in my opinion. Not as bad as my name: Leilani. I get people calling me Lilly, Leelana, Lana, Lorelai. A simple Hawaiian name becomes different variations. -.- My parents were going to name me Ashley... or was it Ashton? I was a "last minute named" baby. ![]() I actually would have loved if my real name was Persephone. ![]() |

My parents were originally going to name me Clarice (I think I spelled that right). Luckily, they didn't and I'm glad because anyone whose familiar with Hannibal are automatically going to say "Hello Clarice." Anyway. Even though my first name is way too long and I can't stand it sometimes, I am somewhat fond of it. And I'm late for work, soooo I'll tell you the first name I wish I had later! |

Ah, Persephone, I know thy pain. People misspell my name for Sonya, Sonia or Sonje, or they call me Saska, Sophia, Chantal, Ciska and even Maria. Apparently, Sonja is the hardest name to remember? oO'

I know, right!? It's like no matter how many times somehow, some way someone is going to 'eff up your name in one of those "how the hell did you do that?" moments. Though I'm glad my name isn't too vastly complicated, like my brother's - but it's easy enough if you just think of him as Niko. ![]() Nikolao Luuga > Leilani Fallon @_@ |

I just wish my name wasn't jessica. I mean it gets alittle annoying after a while, when someone shouts jessica and like 10 girls and 1 boy look up |

Try Rebecca then.... people keep trying to spell it Rebbecca, Rebbeca, Rebeca, Rebbekka, you get the idea. If people tried using the archaic spelling of Rebekah, at least that would make some sense. Usually people insist on calling me Becky [which makes me want to hurt small furry things], occasionally Becca [which I don't mind] and one person tried reducing my name down to the single letter "B" until I started ignoring him for it. ![]() |

The only problem I ever get with my name is some people often misspell it as Julian. Um...do I look like a boy to you? It's JILLian. And some people even say it as JilliAN. No, it's Jillian. The A isn't hard, dumbasses. Anyway, back to subject since I'm at work now. I really don't mind changing my name to Necella, actually. I mean, it's not all that weird and people I know actually like the name. But that's just me. |

Oh, single-letter nicknames suck. That deserves ignoring, aye. Whoah, your brother's got one hard name, Persephone. o.O My younger sister's called Monique, and people keep spelling Moniek.

Really? I've honestly never thought that it really did. I'm more of a plain Jane than a fancy name girl. Thanks though. That's really sweet of you! |

But honestly, I always have liked the word "Mosaic" because it describes my personality really. When you look at it for all the little pieces, it makes no sense and contradicts itself, but when you look at me as a whole, all the pieces fall into place. Besides I wouldn't mind actually being named Mosaic, as far as I know its uncommon, if not even used, for a name. |

They deserve far worse than ignoring, but ignoring alone is effective and requires less effort than happy violence. |

Lol, it does though! Carina's not a superficial name; it's the kind of name that delves deeper, that has layers to it - which is why I think it suits you. You're no plain jane! And yea, Niko likes his name though - especially when everyone in school first thought Niko was given to a guy who was short and scrawny while my brother was over 6'5" and built. So it was mainly, "So you're Ni...whoa."Also, here's another name I was thinking of: Magdalene. I dunno, I've always liked that name.

Yea, though truthfully (coughcough) I didn't realize that was apart of her name until fairly recently. I'm pretty religiously sheltered. I... wouldn't know about those sort of things.

Hehe, that's cool. Niko for me doesn't sound like a scrawny person, though. Somehow it conjures up the image of a beard, however. oO' I like Katrine as a name too, and if I was a guy I would so want my name to be Kaspar.

That's what he is. A bear. A sensitive, cuddly, teddy bear who could pummel anyone who picks on his little sister. -coughcough- Kaspar, huh? Makes me think if I was a guy, I'd want my name to be Sebastien. And not from The Little Mermaid, dangit! Well... I dunno, I'm going to name my future son that, yadda yadda - this isn't the thread to talk about the names of future posterity.

Aye, Kaspar, it's just a brilliant name. Though if I had been a boy, my parents were going to name me Robert-Jan, after my father, who's name is Robert (Rob for short). o_O I would NOT have liked that. Thank the gods I'm a girl. ![]() *edits the topic description a bit* So, now we can talk about future name things. I'm going to call my son Seth, and my daughter Danae. ^-^
