An endless fields of tall golden grass stretches across the horizon. A few trees, no more than ten or twelve years of age, are scattered, dotting the golden setting here and there. The sky is a shimmering blue, wispy white clouds lazily traveling across the sky. Occasional breezes made of warmth and sunshine caress your skin as they pass by, rippling the tall grass like an ocean wave.

In the field, three doors would appear, from the one in the center a lovely shining goddess appears, the remaining two for the challengers. "I am Merry, your judge." she spoke in a strong, commanding voice as the door behind her vanishes

"Here you fight until the death, forfeit or until one is unable to move. Injuries, even mortal, fatal or instant death wounds, shall be healed when the battle is over. The winner will advance to the next round. BEGIN!"

With that, she faded away, leaving the two contenders to fight in the field of golden grass.

"Well, that was quite odd", Rynn said as he was thrust through the magical door, afterwards listening to the shining goddess. Even though he was currently a rather skilled warlock, he never did get used to teleportation spells; he had always felt as if he was leaving a piece of himself behind.

After the goddess abruptly faded away, Rynn observed the beautiful landscape. The golden savanna was so exotic, he had never seen anything like it before in all his travels. The baby blue skies were calm, and serene like ocean waves brushing onto the sands of a beachhead. Even though he knew that he was supposed to be participating in the tournament, he instead laid down in the dirt and continued to admire the clouds. He sighed deeply at each passing cloud, and frankly he didn't care if his opponent decided to take advantage of this situation should they stumble upon him. Moments like these just didn't happen often, especially considering Rynn's awful luck.

"Hey! That one looks like a demon, and that one too", he exclaimed slowly realizing where this situation was going, "-Wait, they all look like demons."

The clouds were like ink blot tests, as it was clear demons constantly muddled his mind. If he wasn't slaying them, he was befriending them. If he wasn't making deals with them, he was eating their food, (which is surprisingly good if not spicy). This association with demons was mostly due to his choice in companions, outside the arena, and his use of demonic magic. It was a curse.

Van Helsing walked through the portal slowly. He'd never seen anything of such mystical powers as this. He felt odd, sick almost. A slight gag came out of his mouth. He a deep breath as he stepped forward. A voice came out of the air, with an ethereal tone. With his line of work, this was either the voice of an Angel, or a Succubus. Either way, she was too far off to try to capture, if the case call for it. She finished her speech, with only and echo of her voice ringing in his ears.

"I would have rather walked." He said to himself, eye the landscape.

It was quite the striking view. A testament to the natural beauty of the Earth. The golden field before him moved with swift, wave like motion. It reminded him of this lake he visited as a child. On the horizon, only a handful of Mother Nature's children could be seen. Their branches danced with such grace in the wind. He walked along a thin path to one of the trees and sat down. He closed his eyes, basking in the warmth of the day.

But his relaxation was not to last. He jumped onto his feet, remembering that he needs to have his wits about him. The enemy could be anywhere. He drew his rapier and went into his battle stance, sluggishly moving towards the center of the field.

Rynn had laid there on the dirt for who knows how long, as he was actually taking a quite relaxing nap. His snoring probably scared away the exotic grazing animals nearby but he soon realized however that the sound of bustling grass was none than his opponent. He didn't immediately pull his daggers out, since he liked to see the character of his opponents first besides he was still a bit sleepy from that nap.

He could tell by the direction of the sound that he or she was towards the center. Rynn cautiously walked into the thick brush of golden grass, pulling handfuls aside ass if he was unveiling a curtain. After a few minutes of walking through he came across a clearing in spotting his opponent, who appeared to be an old man. "Hello, looks like we'll be beating the bananas out of each other today. Let's have fun huh?"

Rynn hasn't had many good experiences with old men. Most old men take offense to his laid back personality and just overall vagrant look. He had to admit though that some old men are wise wizards who save the world and all that jazz, but this one didn't look like he was the sort. He was more of the "I'm grumpy because I let life go by" kind of old man. It was good thing aging wasn't a problem for Rynn...

The judge watched from her appointed location high above the arena. A look of puzzlement and concern clearly etched in her beautiful features. didn't they know there was a time limit to this battle? did they not realize that should neither of them strike a blow within the appointed time, the contest would be considered null

In the hopes that she could relay the sense of urgency, she broke her own rule and her voice was cast out among the field "You must complete your battle within 24 hours from this announcement, or neither will be allowed to move on to the next round. You are running out of time gentlemen" with that she settled back into her viewing, and proceeded to wait and watch the participants.

(this battle will close by 1/27)

As Van Helsing wandered about the golden grass of the field, keeping a watchful eye for his adversary, the same ethereal tone as before. Van Helsing listened to the so-called 'godess' on the time limit. He was none to pleased. He never liked being rushed, more so due to his age. A good battle took time.

"Killing a man is never easy," He said to himself. "Especially when it is rushed."

He glanced at a small thin dot off in the distance. Van Helsing jogged toward it. As he did, he heard a shrill voice call out to him.

"Hello, looks like we'll be beating the bananas out of each other today. Let's have fun huh?"

That confirmed that it was him. Though a battle is no joking matter. Abraham unsheathed his Rapier, determined to win with honor. He poised into an attacking stance, and charged after him.

"Ah! The quiet type eh?" Rynn drew his daggers in lightning quick motion and dashed towards his opponent. "All the more interesting!"

The warlock channeled his mana causing his eyes to glow a deep blue, and flames of the same color radiated his daggers. In a quick sweep he sent a burst of Azure Flames directly at his rapier wielding opponent. No doubt the old man was adept in the art of fencing and was more than likely nimble enough to evade such an attack. The attack was mostly a way for Rynn to test the old man's abilities before he could actually come up with a strategy anyway.

The judge watched the beginnings of the battle with interest. They were finally getting down to business, and for that she was very interested to watch.

With amazing accuracy the Warlock had honed right in on the advancing opponent, Van Helsing. Watching in amusement, the judge could only winch as the warlock sent a burst of flames in the others direction, glad she was safe in her observation booth above the field.

The flames appeared to hit him dead on in the center of his chest, causing him to stagger back a bit, without much damage done this time. Sadly before Van Helsing could counter the attack with one of his own loud bell rang through out the viewing tower declaring the battles finished.

Since Van Helsing had not been able to counter, due to lack of time, the judge had to give the battle to Rynn for his completed assault.

Her voice, loud and melodious rang out through the field declaring that the battle was ended, with Rynn declared as the winner. The ground beneath Van Helsing unceremoniously opened up, pulling him under quickly, transporting him back into the barracks until the next battle.

Meanwhile ribbons of red and gold cascaded down from the sky upon the winner of this tournament, Rynn.
