“Here come the Heartless!” The commanding officer yelled. “Hold the line!” Keyblades were drawn as soldiers quickly engaged in battle. These men and women were warriors of light, sworn to protect the innocent from darkness. Currently they were fighting off a massive invasion. Sera was close to being over run.
“Thundaga!” A young man called out a spell, lightning rained down destroying a large group of Heartless. “Where’s Zaiten?!” He yelled, looking for his friend.
“Cain! He went into the castle!” Cain raised his Keyblade, Fenrir, and struck down more Heartless. “Get him back out here! We’ll hold as long as we can!” Cain nodded before running up the steps and into the castle.
“Zaiten!” Cain yelled, killing Heartless left and right as he moved through the halls. “Where the hell are you?” Cain was worried, he couldn’t imagine losing Zaiten. He was the last friend he had, all the other’s died in the war. Shaking his head he pressed on, he couldn’t be thinking negative at a time like this. “What’s this?”
Stopping Cain looked through an open doorway. It lead to a descending stairway. Cain decided to check it out, he’s been all over the castle with no sign of his friend so this was bound to lead to something. It seemed like hours before he reached the bottom of the stairs, but in reality it only took a few minutes. “Damn!” Cain stepped into a large room. In the center of the room high in the air was a large glowing white orb, below that was a circular platform with four bridges going out of it. It was all surrounded by water.
“Hello Cain.” Zaiten was standing on the platform. “Beautiful isn’t it?”
Cain began walking toward Zaiten. “What the hell is it?”
“It’s our world’s core.” Zaiten looked up at it. “It’s what the Heartless are after, once they take this our world will collapse and fall into darkness. And I’m going to give it to them.”
“Are you mad!?” Cain raised his keyblade. “What’s going on with you? The Zaiten I know would never go along with the heartless!”
“Then you don’t know me that well.” Zaiten summoned heartless and they began attacking Cain. Cain fought them off no problem.
“That all you got?” Zaiten’s fist collided with Cain’s face, knocking him back and into the water. “Alright that’s it! I’m kicking your ass!” The two ran at each other, swinging their blades. The two were evenly matched, blow for blow, casting spells. The entire time Cain was distracted, wondering what had happened to his friend. Unfortunately Zaiten used this to his advantage, getting the upper hand when Cain had him pinned. Zaiten casted a powerful spell which disabled Cain. With his two blades he gave a x cut on Cain’s chest.
“Is that all you got Cain? Shame.” Zaiten started walking toward the center. “Guess I’m through here.” Cain struggled to get up, he had to stop Zaiten from taking Sera’s core. The large white orb began shrinking and floating down to Zaiten’s open arm. “Goodbye friend.” And in the blink of an eye, the traitor was gone. Cain’s vision went blurry, he felt himself falling backward. He hit the ground, unconscious.
Three days later Cain woke up,. He was in pain. Groaning he tried getting up. “Easy there kid.” A hand pushed him back down. Opening his eyes Cain came face to face with a brown haired man, with a scar on his face, black leather clothing and way to many belts.
“Where am I?” Cain asked, his voice hoarse and dry.
“Radiant Garden. You’re a Keyblade Master from Sera right?” Cain just nodded his head. “Sorry to say, its gone. You and a few other survivors managed to get out. Come on I’ll take you to them.” The man helped him up and Cain followed, but not before demanding a glass of water. Soon Cain was surrounded by six other soldiers. They had found Cain passed out in the core room and dragged him to a gummi ship before Sera was lost.
“Cain.” A old man approached Cain, he was the Emperor of Sera, Vanthis. “I need you to tell me what happened? World’s all over have been losing their cores. The darkness is tearing the worlds apart.” Cain explained how Zaiten betrayed them, how he tried and failed to protect Sera’s core from Zaiten. “Hm this is troubling. If Zaiten is working for the Organization then I’ve underestimated their influence. But hope is not lost, if we can get the core back we have a chance of restoring Sera. We must protect the remaining world, stabilize the chaotic ones and track down Zaiten for interrogation.” Cain nodded. If anybody knew where the cores were, it’d be Zaiten. “Are you capable of hunting down your friend Cain? And possibly killing him?”
Cain clenched his fist. “I have no problem with it.”
“Excellent. Now we must prepare, our forces must be replenished. We must recruit from other worlds. I dubt we'll find masters, but we could use all the help we can get.” The former Emperor of Sera looked over the seven remaining Keyblade Masters. “Let us make haste. Cain,” The old man turned toward the youngest of the seven. “You must rest.” Cain nodded. “I must now speak with Merlin. Squall, if you’d kindly take me to him.”
“It’s Leon.” Cain watched Vanthis leave, as the other six ran off to recruit more people to replenish their forces. It’s going to be a hard batlle.
