I just want to point out that the following is meant to be a 'fan-made' final fantasy roleplay that has little, if any, connection to the other final fantasy games. As such, feel free to join in even if you have limited knowledge of the series.
However, i do wish to point out that this is going to be a much 'darker' entry hence the rating.
Disclaimer: The following roleplay will contain depictions of graphic violence, Course Language, mature situations and Horror themes. You have been warned.

"Long ago, in a time long since past, was the age of heroes: Magic was still prominent in the land, and many brave and bold warriors stepped forward at their chances for glory by taking down the many beasts that roamed the world we now call Void. It was known by a different name back then, but it has been lost to time. It was a simpler time where magic was commonplace and swords were still commonly used in place of firearms. And while it was far from perfect, it was peaceful and a haven that was defined by its balance. But...it was not to last.
The heroes soon became gluttonous and slothful, believing it was their right to rule the world around them. The citizens became powerless underneath them and were soon reduced to nothing but slaves: The heroes abused their power and skills, living lives of luxury while normal citizens, even those of nobility, were soon reduced to complete poverty. Most heroes had ceased fighting monsters as well, allowing there populations to grow to proportions that had not been seen since the dawn of humanity itself. Villages were attacked, and yet the heroes continued to not act, to absorbed in their lives of luxury to care. By the time the heroes were readying themselves for battle, the empire of man had all but crumbled into a shadow of its former glory.
They banded together against the hordes of monsters, alongside their children and elders in a final effort to drive back the hordes. The battle was said to have gone on for centuries with one monster falling for every seven heroes, while those who remained offered silent prayers to the goddess that remained unanswered: We had shown ourselves unworthy of their help, so she turned their backs on us.
Maybe that's why the divine ones allowed the world to be swept clear, to give the world a chance to start again. And perhaps, just maybe, to give our race a chance to start again. And with the death of the Heroes, humanity banded together...thus creating the Empire of Tyra, named after the Goddess.
This was all a long time ago though, and we have grown much since then: We have grown, reclaimed some of our old cities and ways of life..but our world remains a near wasteland with only a few cities doting the landscape, ruins mostly.
Other races have been encountered: Some friendly, others not so much, but all of them as unique and odd as the last. All we know is that maybe, one day, when the Goddess Tyra redeems us then perhaps a second Age of Heroes, one that will not repeat the mistakes of the first, will become a reality."

The human empire of Tyra has stood for well over a millenia and has grown into a powerful force of Technology and magic, fueled by its loyal followers. The current Monarch has begun expanding it's forces into the more lawless regions of the Empire, hoping to make them 'See the error of their depravity'. This has created tensions among the human settlements outside of the capital city of spiridan: A rebel group, dubbed only as 'The Heroes', have begun fighting back for the past ten years against the brutal regime of Tyra and it's military. In the background lurks "The Prophets", an ancient order left behind from the age of heroes and has been allowed to continue functioning. They are secretly funding both sides of the conflict, extending it for their own purposes. What this purpose is though, remains a mystery.
The city of Spiridan, one of the few ruined cities and settlements that were able to be repopulated after the age of heroes.
It is a city of giant metal buildings, the palace itself having been rebuilt to appear more like a giant skyscraper that towers above all other buildings. There is a large wall surrounding it in order to stop monsters from outside attacking as well as ensure that anyone who passes through into the city has to be checked first to make sure they are 'suitable'. On the far east of the city is the port, which connects to the ocean: It has become contaminated in recent years due to exposure to fumes and toxic waste from Spiridan, but it constantly filtered into the city through a cleaning plant to supply the city with constant water should it be required by it's citizens.
Some of the other races have chosen to either involve themselves in the conflict on a particular side, or have decided to remain neutral or simply offer mercenaries to the highest bidder.
With the world on the brink of civil war, one group of individuals will be forced to band together to put a stop to the prophets and unravel there scheme before the war between Tyra and it’s enemies sends the world spiraling into oblivion.

1. Do not powerplay or Godmod, otherwise consider yourself kicked out of the roleplay.
2. You are not allowed to kill another persons character unless it is consented to by both players. If it is done without consent of both players, there will be consequences
3. Races are currently a blank slate, so I'll leave it up to the player to decide what race their character is (Chocobo's will be present in their normal capacity as mounts and i am considering moogles to, but have yet to figure out how to intergrate them. If you have any idea's for moogles or want to play one, don't hesitate to make suggestions): However, i will ask that you try to fit it into the setting and don't rip them off from another setting entirely. While you are allowed to base another race off another or use more common ones (Eg. Elves, Cat-people, etc.) don't just go stealing established ones from other media (Eg. Wookies from Star wars, Krogan from Mass effect, etc).
4. By extension: Please don't use a reference/character that was from another final fantasy game. This is meant to be another entry into the series that we are making: So why be cloud or squall when you can be whoever you want to be?
5. Yes, firearms do exist and are at a level similiar to that of our current time period. Motor-vehicles are present to, but most of them are reserved for Tyra's nobility or military. So, while nearly any character will be allowed to use guns, don't go for anything to overpowered (Eg. Rocket Launchers, miniguns, laser canons). Spells also exist and are mostly the same as the rest of the final fantasy series but i am allowing a bit more leeway with them. That said though, no spells are capable of causing instant death, so those types of spells are disallowed.
6. While there isn't a levelling system formerly in place, you can’t start off with every ability known to man.Your character will be able to evolve and grow over the course of the roleplay though and learn abilities from other party members/people through training. That said though, this is going to take more then one post of training to accomplish (More along the lines of three pages of your character training that skill with another who knows it). Yet, your character won’t be able to learn everything.
7. A max of two characters per person (not including NPC's).
8. Apart from these, just follow the forums rules and have fun cause that's what we're here for. Don't worry, while it may look like alot of rules I'm a nice guy (Really! ^^). So please, if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask me.
These are basic setups for how you wish to play your character or how they choose to fight. To start with, a character will be ‘locked’ to simply using the fighting style of their chosen archtype
Fighter: A well-rounded physical combatant who specializes in the use of swords (Both one handed and two handed) and axes (Both one handed and two handed) and are the only archtype that uses shields. They are solid combatants who are capable of holding there own, but lack the range of the Dragoon due to their weapon types.
Dragoon: Like the fighter, these are tough combatants who specialize in close-quarters combat: Unlike Fighters, they are limited to wielding only Lances and spears but they are capable of keeping enemies at bay much more easily due to their weapon choice. Dragoons normally wear, depending on culture and employment, heavy armor and are normally the archtype that has the most defense.
Thief: A nimble and agile physical combatant whose main weapon includes daggers, claws or short swords. They are the more agile combatants, and are normally found picking the pockets of others around them making them highly sought after by the criminal underworld and as spies in both sides of the conflict. They are capable of dual wielding any combination of the weapons that they have available to them.
Ranger:A specialist in long-ranged weapons—such as bows, crossbows and most commonly guns (, This is one of the most common archtype of the humans, most of them equipped with guns but it is still not uncommon to see a ranger use a bow of some variety: For as old as the weapon is, it has never truly lost its uses. They are capable of dual wielding guns of the one handed variety, most commonly pistols.
Black Mage: A magic user specializing in attack magic: Even in an age where technology is used commonly, Magic is still relied upon by the people of Void. While humans rarely undertake this archtype, mostly being used by other races, it is not entirely uncommon to see a human master the arts of magic. Commonly utilized rods, staffs and daggers in battle.
White Mage: A magic user specialising in healing and defensive spells: They are not as attack oriented as their other counterparts, but they are still able to utilize spells to disorient or weaken any enemies they encounter. Normally use staves, rods, daggers or maces in battle
There are only two magic school types that remain after the fall of the age of heroes: White and black. Both of them have specific abilities unique to them and to start with only three can be chosen to start. As the roleplay progresses and by training your character/progressing through chapters, they will be able to gain new abilities.
