Just to sum this up before you read the following background. This is a final fantasy roleplay based off of the 8th game in the series. Although numerous terms like GF, Garden, SeeD, etc. will appear in this roleplay, the original characters and the original world will not. This is a totally new world with a totally new storyline, but basing around the same Garden system as the original. It will feature multiple locations to explore and a full out immersible story for your characters to become part of.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Aleric, a world of warfare. This single world has in the short time of possessing life endured war after war scorching the lands and tearing scars through mountains. It is because of this craving for battle, that no continent has yet to unite even though technology in weaponry and health seems to be well advanced. Monsters have taken over lands across the uninhabited spaces between each city or town on the continents due to the lack of man uniting to fend them off and so humans have become a near endangered species with fiends as the majority.
With the fall of each evil civilization, a new tyrant always rises to take the reigns of leadership and march a daring conquest to enslave all other lands under his/her banner. Every age has their tyrannical threat to peace and because of this, every age has war.
Seeing a profit to be made from warfare, four neutral towns across the world gave up their title of civilization and turned their towns into academies called Gardens to train special forces operatives called SeeDs. Through contracts and dealings with large world leaders, SeeDs were dispatched around the world to carry out missions under the commands of whomever contracted to. This ranged from assassinations, manhunts, or back up in militant battlefields to simple bodyguard duty or espionage.
For a time, the four Gardens were united and their headmasters sharing the same vision of profiting from war under a neutral banner. However, over time the four headmasters died out or resigned and with the acquiring of new blood the Gardens seemed to inevitably gain their own specific favor over certain clients. Hence a quiet war called "The Splitting of Eden" came to pass and the four gardens separated from each other, each sticking to their own clients and beliefs while shunning and disagreeing with the other. Now, the gardens are hostile towards each other and see any member of a foreign garden as a threat.
The Garden's however are not the greatest threat of Aleric. The great technologically advanced empire of Lyriad has begun it's campaign to bring the entire world under it's leadership. With Leinora being the only city capable of matching Lyriad's power, a sign of the first united world war is noticeable. For once, since the beginning of man, two sides may be cast into a battle of world dominance.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Aleric holds a few locations, not a vast amount since the lack of united civilization is hindered by the constant wars. However, what does exists is listed below:

http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii184/joshblake14/GardenMap.png

CONTINENT OF LYRIAD

CITIES

http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii184/joshblake14/Lyriad.jpg

Known for it's technologically advanced army and innovative construction of Junction Powered Airships, Lyriad stands as one of two world powers in Aleric. Led by their fearless Emperor, Volen, and his generals whom are his own sons, Lyriad strikes fear into all lands with rumors of their coming conquest to establish a one world government.

Special Traits: Industry and warfare

Alliances: Occupation of Esthar and dealings with the Lyriad Garden

Enemies: Anyone not allianced. Especially all locations on the continent of Kalhane.

http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii184/joshblake14/Esthar.jpg

Esthar was once home to the Grand Dragon Tiamat, where the great wyrm lived in a massive cathedral beneath the city. However, about ten years ago the empire contracted the Lyriad Garden to assault the beast. The mission was a success and in a dying roar, the dragon brought parts of the city collapsing down into the cathedral leaving parts of the city sitting on broken pits. In Esthar's moment of suffering, the empire occupied the city and forced the men into the army and many of the lower class into slavery jobs working for the military.

Special Traits: Weapon Forging and resources.

Alliances: Occupied by the empire.

Enemies: Anyone not allianced. Especially all locations on the continent of Kalhane.

Other Key Locations

http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii184/joshblake14/Seed-Red.jpg

Training grounds for what the world has nicknamed the Hellfire SeeDs. Lyriad Garden stands as a haven for the empires most promising young candidates, straying away from the traditional plan of neutrality and in fact alliancing themselves as a division for the Emperial City. Headmasters have become obsolete in this Garden and in fact the position has become substituted by the emperors eldest son, Kaiden.

http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii184/joshblake14/DragonPeak.jpg

On a war driven continent, a beautiful paradise such as this one is rare. It is said that somewhere atop these peaks, the husband of Esthar's deceased Tiamat awaits the day he can exact revenge on those who slayed his love.

Around a hundred years ago, Esthar and Innerta were at war for control of the sea route linking Innerta to Zennith. Esthar demanded sea faring fees which led to a great battle when Innerta landed on the eastern beaches. The great dragon Tiamat ripped trenches through the land as her flames burned the soldiers. Now the trenches link to tunnels that monsters have dug out and took refuge. However, the spirit of a warrior is said to rest in those very tunnels.

http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii184/joshblake14/GhostTown.jpg

This abandoned small town has little to tell. What is known, comes from the stories told in Esthar where it is said that a town called Gerian existed until the empire invaded. The story goes on to say that the townsfolk burned everything worth anything and vanished before the empire took the city. So the empire simply abandoned the worthless town themselves.

DREISEN ISLAND

CITIES

http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii184/joshblake14/Innerta.jpg

A holy city of ice. Innerta stands as the last magic based city in the world. The people worship a guardian deity called Shiva and thank her for the powers she landed in building the cathedral shaped city of cold. No one knows where the frost goddess has vanished to, but in times of danger it is said that enemies suffer a colder experience than the townspeople of Innerta do themselves. Because of the nature here, most inhabitants learn powerful ice magic early in their life and come across many draw points for the element.

Special Traits: Ice Magic, sea warfare, and protection by Shiva.

Alliances: Neutral. Sea trade established with Zennith.

Enemies: Lyriad Empire and slight hostility towards Esthar.

Other Key Locations

http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii184/joshblake14/Seed-Gray.jpg

A low profile garden. Dreise Garden is the most smalled staffed garden of the four gardens in the world. Due to lack of large populations on the continent, fewer instructors or SeeDs come from this academy. However, the ones who do are more focused on during training and are highly skilled at what they do. Also, spending much time in the nearby town of Innerta, some have learned advanced ice techniques. They favor Innerta and are willing to protect Innerta without contract or being asked for help. The headmaster is a kind woman named Sicilia.

CONTINENT OF KALHANE

CITIES

http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii184/joshblake14/Snowblind.jpg

Old age castle set on icy peaks in the northern continent. Snowblind has been known for the retainment of their culture and architecture keeping to a castle age style in their housing and castle. The people of the town, once abundant in the swordfish of the sea, are finding a dry spell of no seafood. Thus, the people are starving and having to rely on supplies from Leinora just to survive. Thus, the town itself owes their alliance to the great metropolis without question.

Special Traits: Peaceful quiet town. A very idealistic place to hide away from the world.

Alliances: Leinora, food supply.

Enemies: Lyriad Empire.

http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii184/joshblake14/Leinora.jpg

A metropolis built in a circular shape with a stupor of lights, tall buildings, and exotic themes. Before the war it was simply a self sustaining tourist spot and world powerful manufacture of the greatest weapons on the planet. However, with the development of the Lyriad Empire's conquest, Leinora has taken the early initiative and began alliancing other lands to side with it against the coming threat. Leinora also disapproves of the Garden's ideas of profit from war and wishes to see the four gardens disbanded or brought under the control of their own government, rerouted for special forces means and a patriotic meaning behind their usage. Leinora is not hostile towards Gardens but does not welcome them in their governmental issues and rarely does business with them. They will however always negotiate allied help with Gardens so long as they do not have to pay for it or contract it. Leinora is led by President Eric Dutall.

Special Traits: Weapons, manpower, fighter ships, and monetary power

Alliances: Snowblind. Zennith.

Enemies: Lyriad Empire and anyone allianced with the empire. Known to be unwelcoming to garden members or SeeDs but never hostile.

http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii184/joshblake14/City.jpg

The grandest sea faring city in all the world. Known for their fast traveling ships and quality trade, Zennith stands as a soon to be world power. Keeping trade with Innerta in the north yields valuable information about Lyriad acquired through Dreise Garden's espionage. However, Innerta does not know that Zennith traders are selling valuable information to the Leinora government for high price. Hence, the Zennith government and Leinora government have formed a beneficial bond.

Special Traits: Sea warfare, trade, information.

Alliances: Snowblind. Leinora. Innerta

Enemies: Lyriad by association with Leinora, but still trade capable. Esthar is a hostile enemy.

Other Key Locations

http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii184/joshblake14/Seed-Orange.jpg

A neutral garden in the Lyriad V. Leinora war. They will take contracts from anyone worldwide, but most of their contracts are taken from Zennith and occasionally from Leinora. They find themselves constantly hounded by Leinora officials when they go anywhere and are continuously asked to merge with the Leinora military. Not to mention Snowblind begging for food in the north and the empire threatening to send the Lyriad Garden to level them if they are found negotiating with Leinora. The headmaster is Kein Auluf.

http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii184/joshblake14/Jungle.jpg

The jungles of Kalhane are known to be one of the most treacherous landscape in the world. Filled with monsters that outnumber the citizens of Leinora 3 to 1. It is said that a great beast of thunder lives here in these trees and that obtaining his power could supply immense energy to weapons and airships worldwide. Thus, Leinora airships are constantly flying over the jungle in search of this beast.

http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii184/joshblake14/OldCastleRuins.jpg

A thousand years ago, an empire existed on Kalhane. This empire once challenged the most powerful guardian in the world in hopes of obtaining his power. The guardian demolished the entire empire and all those that existed within. Now only the ruins remain as a haunting reminder of what greed for power can do.

http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii184/joshblake14/MountainCatacombs.jpg

In ancient Leinora, the nobles buried their kin in a catacomb far from the city. Over time the noble families forgot the catacombs and left the holy halls to be ransacked by fiendish demons. It is now a place of the living dead.

Island Chain of Leviathan

CITIES

http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii184/joshblake14/Aqualine.jpg

An island town of peace loving people who keep out of touch with the outside world on purpose. They're known for their simple lives and study of life and happiness. They're also the key supplier of candidates for the Halekin Garden on the southern island.

Special Traits: Life and healing magic.

Alliances: None

Enemies: None

Other Key Locations

http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii184/joshblake14/UnderwaterCaves.jpg

Starting on land at the coast and delving deep into the earth until reaching beneath the sea floor, a nifty channel of tunnels stretches alongside the southern coast under the water. It is said a great snake carved the tunnels and sleeps deep within, awaiting his chance to wreak havoc on the world.

Halekin Island

Other Key Locations

http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii184/joshblake14/ff8-seed.jpg

Keeping a steady supply of candidates from Aqualine, this garden is known for their quiet yet top of the line training in combat and battle tactics. Using the whole island as a training facility, various creatures from worldwide are dumped on this land and the SeeDs are allowed to hunt and battle these beings as part of their training agenda. Where they excel in physical combat, they lack in magical. They get many assassination contracts from various world powers. Their headmaster program is also obsolete and instead governed by a system of three elders.

YOUR ROLE!

Seeing how all of you have the information down, lets get to business on explaining how your character plays a part in this world.

You will play a member of a garden of your choosing, rising to become a SeeD. You will have your fellow members and me playing various NPCs to help push the character along and keep the story driven. During these times you will get occasional posts that have nothing to do with your character's story but does however have much to do with the coming worldwide storyline that every player will progress into, should they make SeeD that is.

Your character is not restricted, he/she is allowed to do as they please as long as it isn't some sort of godmod, powerplay, or anything that doesn't fit into the RP rules established by RPA itself. This means, your character can go anywhere on that world map he/she please but should remember that if they do as such they need to be responsible and know that their character can end up into some troublesome foreign problems, like being attacked by Lyriad soldiers or something. So remember your individual actions can be the effect of a massive change throughout the entire world. So if a member of Dreise Garden attacks an innocent person in Innerta, relations with Innerta could become hurt.

I will go to say that your actions may also lead to the destruction of your Garden if you push it that way. So be careful what you do.

With that said, it's time to get down to your customizations :D

I will be playing all NPC characters, world leaders, and Garden Leaders. This is for plot progression.
You may explore any location you wish. Upon entering a location, you're free to make up whatever you like. Meaning you can put a shop wherever you want, just roleplay is all I ask.

This looks like a great game :)

Why not submit it for Roleplay of the Week (http://www.role-player.net/forum/showthread.php?t=905) or put it in the Roleplaying Games Directory (http://www.role-player.net/forum/showthread.php?t=2304) or click here (http://www.role-player.net/forum/showthread.php?t=3975) to help attract players?
