~And lo shall the army of the darkness rise up from the depths and the world shall be swallowed whole by their tumultuous rein.
But from within this group shall rise a hero of light, one who shall inspire such goodness from those within the heart of evil.
And shall he be cast down from his perch on the heights, paved with daggers as they may be.
And he shall rise anew, his power soaring with the wings of new energy, and shall the armies of darkness meet their greatest adversary, and they shall weep at his coming.
And the world shall be saved on the flat of his blade.~

Name: Lucius Bale
Age: 81
Species: Esper
Species Description:
Even from the beginning the Espers were judged as a mythical race, one with it's origins shrouded in the mists of history and their present and mythos full of double-speak and false starts. The truth of the matter is that nobody really knows how the Espers began, nor what they do or even if they still exist as a group in the present day; but one cannot deny that the very few who claim this title do not do so without extreme candor and much power behind their claims.
In short, the Esper were a uniformly humanoid race beings that seemed exactly like tall humans at first glance; each stood over 6' tall and with the normal number of arms, legs and other features and without really showing any kind of abnormalities from the human genome at all. However as soon as they opened their mouths one would be able to tell a difference; for the tongue of an Esper is a pure electric blue in colour, as is the inside of their throats. Further analysis and differings between the two races showed that Esper have no belly button, due to a unique method of fetal nourishment in the womb of their mothers, and the final physical difference noticeable is that they have slightly longer fingers than a human would; about 25% longer than a human's hands should be.
The differences were more than just physical however; the average IQ of an Esper was well over 250, the lowest of which in their recorded history being exactly on 200. They all, each and every one, posessed varying levels of magical abilities that could manifest themselves in almost any way, and they all held a bearing and disdain for other beings that was not taught and so was somehow instinctive in this race. Specifically, those beings who did not always seek to better themselves are held as such, even other members of their own race, though these examples are not common.
Sex: Male
Magical/Non-magical: Ooh boy, you don't even know how magical he is... (the answer is in fact a lot, though he only has three "spells")

Height: 6'5"
Weight: 162lbs
Appearance:
Lucius is a Esper that few can look at without at least being impressed or perhaps even terrified, and possibly, in some cases, both simultaneously. His stature is tall and strong, neither heavily built nor lightly built, but with the subtle impression of remarkable strength – he is the kind of individual with a powerful aura, not necessarily one of reiatsu but of character, a visible manifestation of incredible will. His body is well toned, lacking fat, certainly not heavily muscled but, like everything else about Lucius, sufficiently suggestive of power to cause most to back off. His skin is just a shade slightly darker than white, not quite managing to make the normal tone of skin and instead pale like those who have avoided the sun all their lives, and thus standing out from others, the skin noticeably white even beside the 'mask' that he wears as a thin circlet on his head, holding back his long, smooth red hair. Caring for his appearance as he does, Lucius has always ensured that his hair is maintained in such a luxuriant and attractive state with meticulous precision, his style never changing.

His face is handsome, unusually so in truth, and remarkably human, without any blemishes, an attractive visage, often bearing a knowing smile, the kind of grin that tells a tale of secrets known by the arrancar that others remain oblivious to. Lucius’ smile often reflects the state of his emotions – typically, the dreary and dull thoughts of others or the incredible arrogance does nothing more than amuse him, something Lucius is more than willing to show, whilst when in battle, a smile in whatever form it might take is usually down to happiness; Lucius rarely frowns, and such occasions are usually restricted to moments of exasperation with others. Behind his eyes rests a frightening intellect, their gaze piercing through the veils of secrecy possessed by others, taking the rather unique colour of silver and shining almost as if polished, forever evaluating and judging all that they see.

Lucius wears a long cloak, reminiscent of the older days of feudal lords and kings, draped over his shoulders, pale white and embroidered with gold thread, fine and elegant. Whilst giving Lucius a significantly more regal appearance, the cloak is easy to remove, thus allowing Lucius to immediately remove potential obstacles when walking into the storm of combat. The pale skin of his hands is hidden away behind dead black gloves, elegant and possessing the smoothness of silk, almost blending in with the sleeves of his clothes. The boots on his feet a matching shade of darkness to the gloves, tipped with silver to add a more regal appearance. Lucius wears black for a very simple and yet almost poetic reason – what colour is better for the ruler of a world of inky blackness?

Lucius moves and walks in a confident manner, forcing others to adopt an image of a powerful, influential and unique being. He radiates not only his near unmatched level of confidence, but also a charisma that attracts other beings towards his cause, a sense of self strong enough to ensnare many in his dreams and desires. He makes no mistake in his poise and stance to show the obvious skill that he possesses, calmly relaxed with the confidence of a predator, for it is less his power and more his genius and finesse that should worry his foes. To add to this, it is quite clear that Lucius is a being that has no scars on his body, despite clearly being as much a warrior as a leader; more impressive to those who do not know about his rare skills of regeneration. The overall message that Lucius tends to send from his body movements is a warning, a cautionary point not to cross him.

Personality:
Perhaps the best way to describe Esper is as a ruthless, calculating and rather selfish being, quite obsessed with his own desires, dreams and power and mostly dismissive of everyone else, no matter what their rank, position or power. Admittedly, ever since becoming the King, the supreme ruler of the Espers, his soul is less devoid of warmth, and he cares about those who have joined him and, perhaps more importantly, has learned to appreciate the balance of souls between the worlds. Although there is truth in saying that Lucius is selfish, it is not entirely correct, for he is quite capable of helping others in whatever way they might require it, if he is in a position to do so. Immensely curious, Lucius is never able to stop himself from interfering in matters, although typically, his actions are all designed to aid himself as well as others... so calling him selfish is not something he would deny.

To add to this, Lucius is highly intelligent and cunning, a strategic genius, understanding everything that is said by others and perhaps more importantly, the countless things that are not said, capable of assumptions that are usually right. He prides himself on this; he is able to understand how others think, how they plan and plot and scheme and he has no qualms about using all of this to his own advantage. He is quite willing to use all at his disposal to see his goals achieved, constantly seeking more power and adhering to his own sense of honour to do so. Even though he can be ruthless at times, and is always able to see the most sensible way to gain victory in a given cause, gaining a victory without honour is quite tasteless, devoid of the satisfaction that comes with it, and thus Lucius endeavours to find a middle path in all things, the balance between honour and perfection.

Lucius has a loose concept of mercy, his understanding of the term having changed somewhat since his imprisonment. In battle, he will often fight to defeat to the foe rather than killing them, his skill allowing him to seize victory in most cases without inflicting mortal injuries. An enemy defeated by Lucius has two choices; they may either surrender to his will and do as he asks, or be slain; and in this Lucius takes no pleasure, treating the murder with clear apathy that could horrify most individuals – once the decision has been made to kill, the idea firm and unrelenting, the enemy is already dead in the eyes of Lucius. He detests weaklings – he is constantly disgusted by the amount of pathetic foes that live in all the worlds; not necessarily the weak of body, however, but more the weak of spirit and mind. Fighting them isn’t worth Lucius’s time; so they are simply eradicated; mercy is a concept that fails utterly here. If they wish to challenge him without the power to defeat him, then they deserve the annihilation that comes to them. Lucius is a firm believer of accomplishing tasks with his own hands, and will only draw his blade in certain situations; if his foe challenges him to fight them in such a manner, then he obviously cannot deny them, for that would be unnecessarily insulting, and if his defences are compromised, then fighting with his true weapons is a necessity.

He prides himself on his intellect, a mind above and beyond most others in the world -and indeed any world he believes- and is able to discern the hopes and dreams of his enemies, delving into their being to determine the roots of their personalities, thus finding both their strengths and weaknesses and taking advantage of them accordingly. His is not a mind that cares much for science, for such knowledge has never been one of his pursuits, thus he is quite woefully ignorant. Instead, he is strategist and tactician, a master of combat, both in orchestrating battles and fighting in them. His is a mind that can tear aside the disguises hiding another man’s plan, finding the ultimate flaw and bringing it crashing down, as well as a mind that can easily adapt, altering the methods used in combat to ensure a certain victory. It is said that most plans shatter the moment battle begins, but Lucius’ plots are never so brittle – they are, on the surface, most simple and instead shaped by the battle itself, Lucius’ enemies giving him the values he needs for the equation of destruction.

Lucius does not worry about loss when he fights, because in truth he is extraordinarily arrogant, believing that there is none that can honestly win against him; and in this, he has a certain amount of justification. He will take almost any wound and laugh it off, thanks to his special ability as an Esper, his high speed regeneration. He understands that he is far from un-killable, but he has no care for injury or death because he knows injury is never permanent for him, and death is far away. As a result, he greatly enjoys a fight were he can unleash his full power and bring to bear all his might, a fight against a truly worthy foe. Few truly deserve the honour of fighting with him with his blade drawn. Therein lies one of Lucius’s greatest flaws – often dismissing rank, if one is not of a prestigious enough status then he is unlikely to go all out, regardless of how powerful the enemy actually happens to be. Fortunately, against such a foe, he has no qualms about using his abilities

And that skill with the abilities he wields is, in one single word, intense. And if one were to use a second word, then it would be frightening. Lucius is a master of the art of the blade as well as that of hand-to-hand combat, and holds the conviction that he is the greatest warrior alive, a belief set in shape by the fires of confidence, a faith in his own abilities, and tempered by his will that has forced him to practice, a perfectionism that allows no flaws in his technique. A combination of this and his ability to regenerate has formed for Lucius a combat style that allows him to forsake almost all defence, encouraging others to do the same to try and stop him – an action that condemns them to defeat before the battle is even begun. Against most individuals that call themselves an enemy of Lucius, the drawing of any sword is tantamount to a death sentence.

His will, his belief in himself, is absolute. It is for this reason that he has no fear, for he is above it all; such an emotion was defeated long ago, and as a result, Lucius can look upon the world with clear vision. He can not allow himself to submit, cannot allow himself to bow to the will of another, and thanks to this, there can be no middle ground, no compromise. Those who challenge him cannot be denied, and they will be fought until they are finished and broken, their resolve shattered like glass before an explosion. Lucius is a man who will eternally strive to be the strongest, without any regrets on his path. It can be said that there are not many things in the world that Lucius really hates; most things are not worthy of his hate. He dislikes people who do not strive for their dreams, and who have no real purpose other than to make up the numbers. In the grand scheme of things, they are necessary, but they are detestable to look upon.

Bio:
Lucius' history is shrouded in the mists of mystery and the unknown, with almost nobody but himself knowing anything about his past besides himself; probably because the large majority of anybody who knew him is long dead and gone...

List of Spells:
Lucius has an incredibly rare ability known as Heal, a regenerative ability of immense strength and power. Heal gives Lucius the ability to virtually ignore the need for defence in combat, as it can heal any wound during battle – ranging from simple cuts and burns to even the loss of a limb. In fact, all that his regeneration will not heal is damage great enough to instantly end his life, such as decapitation, or indeed, any major damage to his head. This being said, there are limits - it is also not a skill that works forever - healing wounds at rapid speed drains Lucius's stamina and magic faster than anything else, and as thus there can come a point where it is no longer beneficial to Lucius to have this ability. As a result he must be careful with this skill. This being said, the ability is entirely passive. The amount of magic required to heal a wound varies not on the lethality of the injury, but of the size. A large wound to his body would cost Lucius far more magic to heal than a wound to his neck would – and as a result, attacks that might kill another being, such as slitting their throat or stabbing them through the body, have very little effect on Lucius due to his regeneration. The regeneration has more effects than just closing wounds and healing his body, however, and also acts as the ultimate in immunity. If poison enters the body, the regeneration will immediately react to destroy it – in effect, making Lucius virtually immune to poison too. For similar reasons, Lucius only tires when his magic begins to run low – it is his stamina and internal energy that will fail him, rather than his body.
Aura is not a technique to destroy the enemy, and does not protect Lucius against any techniques that could harm him; a sword, magical attack, special technique - all of these will bypass Aura as if it does not exist. However, Aura does act upon techniques that do not cause direct harm to Lucius; any technique that fits this description is rapidly destroyed by Aura, rendering it entirely ineffective. Techniques that might decrease Lucius’s abilities or inhibit his powers are denied and have no effect on Lucius. In working together with his "Heal" ability this also means that the regeneration of Lucius cannot be inhibited by external means (only the loss of a sufficient amount of stamina and energy will stop it). Illusions or limiting magic are usually entirely ineffective, most foes lacking the power to cast spells of sufficient strength or lacking sufficiently mighty spells. Only the very best spells can stop Lucius, and even these will be broken down by Aura rapidly, and that is without considering Lucius’s own attempts to escape them.
The only active ability that Lucius actually posesses; Diamond is a useful ability that ensures that Lucius will never feel the need to wield any weapon that is not a part of his natural body, as though his body has developed an ability to spurn all unnatural appendages from use. Through a combination of magic and self-concentration, Lucius is able to encase a part of his body in a sheath of what appears to be magically-enhanced diamond; that is, this diamond is able to not only penetrate through most if not all magical defences, but is able to withstand blows or temperatures that would crack, shatter or even melt normal diamond. Unfortunately this ability is limited in it's number of uses, as well as the area that can be effected in this way, as Lucius can only coat one limb of his body at a time, being forced to have to de-coat an area in order to change which part is covered, though he can do this instantly. What's more he is able to actually extend this diamon-coating off his body a short distance, allowing him to create diamond-claws on his fingertips if his arm was covered - as an example. Diamond lasts for five posts and then has a three post cooldown.
