The day dawns bright and early, the sun just peaking over the edge of the horizon. The sunshine would be glinting brightly off the buildings, if of course they were still standing. It once was a grand city, skyscrapers reaching to the heavens, glass and steel as far as the eye could see. The bustle and noise of a booming metropolitan hub. Today, the landscape is quite different.

You find that you are in a small city square, surrounded by destruction. What is left of this leveled place is now your battle field. Partial buildings surround you, broken concrete and steel girders, cars and trucks strewn about as if a large destructive force left but moments ago. Smoking rubble and soot covered pieces of buildings are all that remain of this once active place.

A soft voice permeates the destruction “Congratulations on your battles so far. You have succeeded where many have failed. You have reached this final round and should be proud of your accomplishment. There is no time limit on this battle, as in the past, but do not try my patience. You will fight to the death, or until one is no longer able to continue. Let the battle begin!”

You each have a maximum of ten posts each for this battle to be completed. After you have each completed five posts, a judge will step in to post into this battle. Best of luck to you both

Arxus stalked into the square, his defeat by judgement against that worthless miner still smouldering in what was left of his soul and mind, he would not be losing again. Destruction surrounded them and more was likely to unfold in good time, as he had just spotted his opponent. His eye flashed in anger as he began to run and vault across the destroyed objects in his way, discarding the Breakerby shoving it through the hood and engine block of a red vehicle and grabbing both of the Talons. There would be no mercy, no retreat, and no forgiveness.

As it was, Arxus leapt off of one final girder, which was sticking out of a pile of rubble, and onto a trajectory that would bring him witin feet of, and then over, his opponent. Once he was close he unleashed a plume of flame at the foe, hoping to at least distract him, then landed, hard, and whipped around to face his opponent with one blade raised in defense.

((Sorry for disappearing like that. Real life dictated that I don't come to RPA for a while, and I think I must have just plain forgot after so many hours of revision.))

I lost...

That was the only conclusion to come to Kriss' mind. Racking his memories, the last thing he remembered was the foul stench of rotting lung tissue, the gnashing of teeth, and excruciating pain...

So he managed to get himself killed by a cripple... the burning sensation that flew past him was from the plume of flame singed his skin, but it didn't hurt as much as he thought it would. The Psycho Frame Network around him must have snapped subconsciously in response to the incoming attack, and at least dispersed some of the flame. The snapping of the Psycho Frame Network fibres rendered his Akido-gi torn beyond recognition; certainly no dojo would accept him in his current state.

"... so I'm fighting for a consolation prize."

The pain had caught up. It was searing, but Kriss didn't respond. He'd lost a fight... and to a cripple...

I lost a fight... TO A CRIPPLE!?

He spun around, looking at the source of the attack. Throwing out his hand, he summoned his sword. A black shadow flew through the air, a slicing sound as clear as day as he felt the sword coming towards his freshly burnt body. Every motion sent searing pain through his body, his skin cracking as it tried to stretch around his moving body. The No-Dachi landed in his right hand. The mere act of gripping the blade caused blood trickle out of his palms onto the hilt. But he didn't care. No because right now...

An arc of red accompanied the movement of his arm as he swung it at his opponent.

"DIE ONE THOUSAND DEATHS!!"

Arxus had watched as the burned man summoned a sword, disheartened, but by this time not surprised, by the fact that the burns he carried on his body seemed to have little effect on him. He stared back into those black eyes with his own singular red orb for a moment before quickly dodging the strike that had been predictably aimed at him and landing atop a table sized chunk of concrete. "All I ask for is one." He retorted, a dark tone underlaying his voice.

He jumped, sending one blade and chain flying downwards towards the No Daichi and the other towards the man's shoulder as his body, arms outstretched, was launched directly towards Kriss. It was risky, but the time was right and Arxus was not feeling particularly forgiving at the moment.

Kriss blocked the chain almost subconsciously, as all rational thought disappeared from his mind. The shock and vibration sent a ripple of pain through his body, almost forcing him to drop his sword. However his hands remained firmly clamped on the weapon, despite the agony he was in. The fibres of the Psycho Frame Network were pulling, twisting and swinging Kriss' limbs into what the outsider would see as just normal movement. However, every movement caused further pain to Kriss, which would simply fuel his rage. Though his muscles were being inhibited by the pain, he had no problem commanding an invisible network of spirit fibres what to do.

Kriss' body flashed white as some of the Psycho Frame Network threads snapped at the chain, blasting Kriss back about three feet, whilst at the same time, deflecting the bladed chain to the side. The simple movement of being pushed back hurt Kriss' legs as they protested against the strain of the forces involved, whilst his ankles struggled to maintain their integrity, being held together only by sheer force of will.

"..."

One charge left... only one charge... only one charge...

It was too easy, his opponent was obviously mentally broken by his loss of the previous battle. Arxus could see it behind those eyes, reflecting the light from his own as if they were glass. He sat heavily on Kriss' chest, grabbing the man's sword only to toss it away, then grabbing the Talons and slamming one into each of Kriss' hands, pinning them to the ground. Arxus leaned down until his face was a mere two inches from his opponent's, the closest he had been to anyone else's since she had died.

He reached up and, claws glowing a sickly green, grasped Kriss' head by its right side and brought forth a stream of memories, distorted images of his love at the top of a tower growing nearer, images concerning her death, images concerning their last words. All memories now fraught with despair and heartbreak so powerful that they had driven Arxus insane after the events they depicted and now Kriss had been exposed to them, as if he didn't have enough problems already.

Arxus was brought back to his senses, staring into Kriss' eyes, this man was not worth ruining his reputation for ruthlessness over. He stood up and pulled the Breaker from its spot on his back, then ran Kriss through with it, mimicking the wound on his own chest, then used one of the Talons to gouge out an eye before dropping a small gold coin, collecting the weapons and walking away, seething over his renewed rage and despair.

She would hate him now, he knew it... she would have hated him if she had known his feelings back then, she would never want to keep his company again, and he knew it. Arxus fell to his knees just as he was teleported back to his chamber.
