Reality’s Edge

Have you ever felt like you’re being watched when no one else is around? Maybe you’ve seen something in a mirror as you walked past and looked to see what was there only to find nothing. Perhaps you’ve glanced at a pond and seen a reflection that wasn’t yours. If you have, then you’ve seen into the Edgeland. The Edgeland is the space between this universe and the next, which is the most similar to ours.

The Story Begins:
December 6, 2010. Meyrin, Switzerland: Scientists ready the large hadron collider for an experiment in particle physics.
10:05 am
The collider is turned on but something isn’t quite right, the machine shuts down and engineers scramble about the whole place trying to figure out what’s wrong.
10:32 am
The engineers still can’t find anything wrong with the machine; they’re beginning to wonder if something is intentionally stopping it from working properly.
10:33:42 am
A huge explosion rocks the building as the control panels on the collider blow out, energy begins to flow into the machine and then releases into two particles that race around the magnetically contained ring made for smashing particles together. When they collide all hell breaks loose, waves of crimson light pulse through the building, and then everything stops in an instant.

December 7, 2010. Wiltshire, England.
3:46 am
Stonehenge lights up with a crimson glow. If the boundaries between universes could be seen as bubbles, then two have just collided full on. Everyday bumps are to be expected between two universes as close as ours and the next, but this one causes the bubbles to join at a single point.
The force of the ensuing explosion causes the remaining rocks to topple over as blasts of shadow emanate from the center of the explosion. Moments later more red light floods the area and four figures appear in the center of the debris, and then scatter each one following one of the shadows.
Sometime later that day:
You are walking somewhere alone, out of sight of anyone else. Suddenly something comes barreling out of a hiding place and tackles you, then covers your mouth and drags you back into its hiding place. As you sit there it explains that it is a guardian, the better side of you, and that another evil creature, which is the worst side of you, has been released and is coming to kill you.

After you’ve calmed down it takes you to a forest, and there you see three others, along with their guardians.
What happens from here?

Rules:

Personality: Despite his dangerous appearance he’s really a bog softy and has quite a good sense of humor. He is highly intelligent, and he is also a hunter and so is deadly with his weapons.

Weapons/Armor: His main weapon is his robotic left arm, which sports a nasty set of claws and is nearly indestructible. It can also shoot several barbed spines out of the palm, these can be replenished by sculpting bits of metal or using round spikes. He will also pick up any one handed weapons and use them if he needs to. His armor usually consists of nothing more than a vest and other small pieces he can find, although his arm does provide significant protection, and can even act as a shield if he needs it to.

Actually he's very very scared of loud noises like yelling or things being thrown around. He's friendly, bright, and curious. And when he actually does open up you wish he really hadn't, since when he's nervous he tends to run his mouth.

Personality: Shay was one of those quiet ones. He barely talks to anybody but tend's to keep his mouth shut to make sure he hears everything. He can be egotistical when under alot of stress. He tends to keep his distance from others. He has been involved in local gangs, hooligan stuff.
Appearance: Shay stands about 5'8". His hair is short, stiff and black. His eyes are a turquis shade with a glint of more green than blue. He is built quite normally for a guy his age. He wears a brown coat, with a white undershirt. His pants are black cargo's. The left pant leg is lightly cut open. His shoes are shined and buffed dress shoes.

What do you think of the situation? : Slightly freaking. He is trying to make the best of it that he can. He wasn't ready for something this drastic, but who is? He keeps telling himself that one day he will wake up, and all of this will be some crazy acid induced dream that he had.

Personality: Hot headed, short withering temper. He is a very short fuse to light. He doesn't enjoy the idea of having to watch over his human but shall do it regardless of his feelings.

Gender: Male

Personality: Ham only does what Ham's stomach tells him. Ham isn't exactly what you call intelligent. The only thing he's good for is being a loyal friend and attacking those who hurt his master. Rather you could say the pig is somewhat like a dog. Loyal, friendly, and will do all things to protect his master. Unlike a dog he has low IQ, unlikely to speak to you directly unless he is forced to most cases he'll just do a bunch of squealing and pig snorts, and he has poor depth perception.

Ham is suppose to enhance Julian if that makes much more sense. Ham is much more friendly, much more outgoing. Which in turn forces Julian to be much more outgoing and friendly. Julian isn't the most loyal person, especially if it means getting into a lot of trouble with people or being safe he rather be safe. Ham on the other hand just does what impulse tells him and in the end it forces Julian to be more upfront with people as well.

No, I understand. I think you misunderstood when I was writing the profile. I need to use my brain more clearly.
He usually just snorts or squeals to annoy people. He does have base speech, he just er doesn't use it. Due to the lack of brain cells sometimes.


I wanted Julian and Ham to enhance each other. Where Ham falls Julian leads, in this case Ham is stupid so Julian leads in intelligence. Ham is more friendly so in this case Ham leads more in the social interaction.

Personality: Businesslike and completely focused, Katherine is certainly not the type to let anything or anyone get in her way. Rarely speaking more than a few words at a time, she often gives the impression of being distant and cold; an impression that, in her case, is absolutely correct.

Name: Cerberus
Age: 6
Gender: Do you really want to check?, for simplicities sake, just call him a he.
Personality: Not much. Cerberus is persistence incarnate, he can't be bought, tricked or reasoned with. He can't be dissuaded from his hunt. His prey is the only thing that matters in his world and he will not stop hunting it until he has it between his jaws. He has almost no higher level intelligence, working off of animal instinct and sheer force of will.

Appearance: Imagine if you will, the unholy byproduct of a relationship between a rottweiler and a tank. Now scale that up so that it's four feet tall and six feet long. Wickedly sharp claws, an elongated, almost beak-like, muzzle filled with razor sharp teeth, its entire body is covered in thick armour-like scales save for two small holes to allow it to stare at you with almost luminescent red eyes. Now take that monstrosity, paint it jet black and let it loose in the woods and you have Cerberus.

Weapons/Armor: Sharp claws, sharper teeth, is effectively armour plated.

One final note, Security: Those doll pics are quite possibly the single most disturbing set of photographs I have ever seen on RPA. Just though you might like to know.

@ Govannon: i can put your guardian with Sam in the last spot, but, with the way things are arranged now Cerberus has to go with someone, or i could put him off to the side as a character that needs to be claimed, your choice.
