Historical Archive:

Around 30,000 years ago, the Jotannir species was formed in the frozen wasteland of Tamakar. Primarily evolving as the sole mammalian precursors to the modern variant, the Jotannir were believed to have grown up in a well mannered and orderly society ever since the conception of their species. Oriented around family virtue and civic freedoms, the Jotannir evolved into a bipedal, primate-based race. The first semblance of active agricultural development was speculated at around 23,000 years ago. Various republics had emerged, and political theorem was advanced far beyond the development of other species.

The Jotannir began to mass-congregate in cities around 21,000 years ago, and formed the first semblances of a "Global Order". In line with the ordered and quiet society of the Jotannir, both male and female sexes enjoyed an astonishing amount of wage and social equality. War was frequent in the ruins of the southern hemisphere, but the northern ruins contain near-pristine artifacts and treasures of the Jotannir, indicating a likely regional dispute in the south. 18,000 years into the past, and evidence of advanced Jotannir solar civilizations presented itself. Starships were in grand production, and based on the supposedly "Hive-like" numbers of the population, the Jotannir enjoyed a high level of industrial development. Agriculture began to wane, and Hydrophonic technology soon replaced Bio-Domes and small scale farms. 17,000 years into the past, the first semblances of a unified solar government appear. After the evidence yielded on Tamakar suggested the former southern regional factions evolved into solar magnates, it was theorized they conspired against one another in a bloody civil war that near tore the civilization apart. Warship wreckages found in systems near Tamakar indicate that colonial expansion may have been an issue in the cause of the war, but none can be sure.

After an unknown period of time, estimated 9,000 years ago, further excavations into untouched colonies along the inner rim of the Jotannir revealed a single, all-powerful government known as the "Hegemony". What technology could be scavenged from the ruins proved wonderous, and the incredible craftsmanship of buildings and starships suggest the Jotannir were a prime naval power in their own sphere of influence, and greatly affected neighboring civilizations. The Jotannir niche, as researched by many independent chemists and metallurgists, was the near artistic metallurgical and architectural feats of the Jotannir cityscape, while their naval and military technology was incredibly advanced, it could not approximate the blinding feats of civil engineering and electronical research that went into their civilization. From databases scattered across former Hegemony colonies, the Jotannir proved to have endured an era of unrivaled peace and prosperity that lasted for 8,000 years. Massive hive cities emerged from nothing, and the seemingly endless stream of Jotannir was furthered with the art of genetic manipulation. The population skyrocketed, and expansion occured constantly. Near 1,000 years ago, scientists speculate that a mass-disappearance of Jotannir occured. Some concur on a greater civil war, but most have been left with doubt after sending countless research vessels into the inner core of the Hegemony, returning with nothing more than diseased and insane survivors telling tales of an "Invisible Monster" constantly stalking them on excavations near major ruins. People on popular extra-net sources have begun to suggest that this "Invisible Monster" is the work of a massively effective genophage, while others suggest that the menace is an army of rogue nano-machines. However, none can ever be too sure...........

Very interesting proposal. May I ask why, if this thing is a rogue nano-machine monster then why hasn't it spread out to civilzations near-by? Especially ones the Jotannir had contact to, since its databases would know of their existence.

1. The nano-machine "Monster" is biding it's time inside of Jotannir Core Space. No one knows why it remains there, or why it hasn't spread.

2. The nearby civilizations did have a record of Jotannir technology, and as previously stated, sent research vessels into Jotannir territory only to come back with barely sane lunatics. It's all about the mystery factor.
