The Gypsy Queen

She wonders what happened
Where it all went wrong
She remembers the past
Sings soft quiet songs
She hates to regret
Hands on pictures faded
Recalling glory days
Moments celebrated
She remembers laughter
Parties, love, and friends
She remembers trusting
Faithful it'd never end
She remembers the night
Alone with a movie and him
She remembers turning
And feeling their lips skim
She remembers his hands
Running up her curved sides
Her breath coming in moans
Pleasure clouding her mind
She remembers his regret
Words that don't explain
Why this happened at all
Why she has to be in pain
She remembers turning
Desperate to be loved
By someone, anyone
And herself shoved
Into the arms of a man
She didn't know or trust
Quietly she listened to him
His lies, his ugly lust
She remembers his coaxing
To believe him, listen
To his paradigm of his
New world's glisten
She remembers falling,
Letting him take control
What she said and ate
More and more into his hole
She remembers his car
Not wanting to get in
She remembers his words
Unable to fight him
His hands bruising her arms
She remembers the mattress
As she tried to deny him access
She cannot recall what happened next
But afterward there were tears
Blood, anger, hands, words,
And most of all there was fear
She remembers the nightmares,
She remembers the drinks
She remembers the drugs
She also remembers hugs
She remembers their patience
Comforting words and listening friends
Faith that would never end
Alone and without aid
She remembers walking again
She remembers running free
She remembers being stong
Again after being so weak
And after so very long
She remembers now
At long last
Why it was worth it
Why it is the past
She remembers she made it
And she will survive
Whatver life gives her
Laughing and alive.
