The smell of bitter smoke filled Sidney's lungs while she took a long drag of her cigarette. Exhaling, she tapped her foot against the concrete with impatience. The soles of her converse shoes with mismatched laces made no noise against the hard ground. Goddamn, she thought, where the hell is Miyu? I thought her class ended by now? Dropping the remains of her cigarette to the ground, Sidney stomped on it, dashing any hopes of a fire. She wasn't a pyromaniac after all. Maybe a little crazy in comparison to her girlfriend, but definitely not a pyro.
While she waited, Sidney dug into her bookbag and pulled out a small sketchbook along with the obvious pencil. She leaned against the fence and used her hand as a support for her book. People could be so fascinating. Everything about them fascinated her, from the way they walked, they way they talked, to they way they merely existed. Her pencil glided seamlessly against the toothy paper, and somehow, amidst all her gesture drawings of the people walking by, came a picture of Miyu, her beloved girlfriend. She even managed to fascinate herself.

The door flew open from the psychology classroom as Miyu dashed to the outside. Her lecture had run overtime, very much against her liking, and she knew just by a ringing bell that she was late. When she managed outside, she bent her knees with her hands on them, panting from running clearly too fast. "I'm really sorry I took so long. The teacher decided halfway through the lecture to change topics and made us stay until he was done."
As soon as she'd caught her breath, Miyu stood up and looked up easily to Sidney, a smile now plastered unconditionally on her face. "Thank you for waiting for me this entire time... I'm sorry you had to wait so long though." She flung her arms around the girl's waist, unable to reach high enough due to her short stature to reach around her neck. Since she was hugging from the side, she was able to see the picture in the sketchbook, causing her to giggle. "You drew me even when I wasn't here? How come I always look better when you draw me than I do in reality though...?"

A blush found its way onto Sidney's cheeks. As much as she loved and adored her darling girlfriend, public displays of affection always made her cheeks burn red. Still, she didn't mind. The feelings of love and belonging in Miyu's arms would always be worth the temporary jitters and embarrassing blushes.
Sidney kissed Miyu on the cheek and said, "My dearest Miyu, it's perfectly fine because I got to draw your gorgeous face." She adjusted herself so her hazel eyes gazed into her girlfriend's eyes. "And I draw you exactly as I see you. I'm a realism artist, remember? I'm not some anime hack who prettifies everything." A coy smile formed upon her lips. "So yes, you really are that beautiful. You really are that beautiful to me, to strangers, and to everyone around you. So I better keep on being a killer romanticist if I am go keep up with the competition!" Sidney winked and proceeded to poke Miyu's nose before she planted a chaste kiss on her lips. After the kiss, Sidney slipped out of the embrace and slung her bookbag over her shoulder.
"So, where shall we go?" She asked. "Wanna go see a movie? Or maybe head to my house? My evil overlord mother isn't home today! So we can maybe get some lovin' goin' on...or play some wii. Whichever works. I'm completely down for both." And before Sidney knew it, she caught herself interlocking her arm around Miyu's and leaning her head on top of Miyu's, because Sidney was too tall to snuggle against Miyu's arms, neck, or shoulders.

Miyu giggled a bit in response to Sidney's first sentiment, smiling up at her easily in response. "You may be a realism artist, but I don't know how you can draw so realistically if I'm not physically there to begin with. Am I really that ingrained in your head that you can draw me even when I'm waiting for my teacher to stop droning so I can see you?" She was a slight red as she said it, embarrassed that the possibility was there, but also extremely pleased by it. When she felt the chaste kiss on her lips, she returned it easily, tilting her head enough to do so- she was too short to reach without it.
"I don't think most people look at me as a girl or a woman half the time. I get yelled at for walking into the classroom sometimes because I'm small like a middle schooler, still..." She laughed nervously, embarrassed. "In fact, it's happened twice today. 'Shouldn't you be in school?' "Yeah, that's why I'm here'. It's actually a bit embarrassing that they call me out like that..." She laughed it off soon after, hugging onto Sidney's arm that was wrapped around her own in response. Luckily, Miyu's lack of height at least let her snuggle quite well- and her childish appearance seemed to make people look less at them, though they still looked. Then again, she could care less who saw anyway.
"Can we go to your house then? It'd be nice to get to visit- I haven't been able to for a while since your mother's been home lately. Oh, I wish you could come back to Russia with me one of these days...I know my own mother has been dying to meet you. Remember? She said it in the birthday card she sent, and she still asks about you whenever she calls." However, her mind replayed what Sidney had said first about what they could do.
"Wait a minute..." She contemplated it, her face turning crimson. "Sidney!" Her voice turned to a whine. "That sounded perverted. You know saying things like that makes me feel strange!" Though, the operative word strange was never known to be a good or a bad thing with Miyu- she just knew it made her scarlet.
