I was discussing this with K last night. He proposed that to make things slightly realistic we should make it that Humans were first in space, and they gave FTL flight to most species. Some species may have reached the same point as Humanity, but no one is very far ahead of Humanity. This may cause some problems, as K will have to get rid of the Chayoti, my Miya Kai will have to be removed and the Vaanshii can't exist, among other species who will have problems, but its not tragic... I don't think so anyway.
What do people think of this idea?

K just exanded on this. He says the most time anyone could of had FTL travel is a couple of hundred thousand years without having taken over the entire galaxy.
