There is not one single Earth, but several Earths, each contained in its own parallel dimension, with its own history, its own timeline.

This is the multiverse.

I see two ways this can go:

1. Multiverse Club - each player creates their own parallel earth, each with its own level of tech and magic (Dimension 1 is a high tech/low magic world, Dimension A is a low tech/high magic swords and sorcery world, and Dimension C is a steam tech/moderate magic world, etc).

At a certain location on their planet they build a city - and in the middle of this city is a square. On three sides of the square are built gates that link the city to a neighboring square in another dimension. These squares create a patchwork city spanning several dimensions, forming a sort of permanent world's fair.

Also in each city is a club, also positioned just right. While on the outside it looks to be a reasonable size, on the inside the left and right walls are gates that link it to the club building built on either side in alternate dimensions, each club a member of a chain that allows the interior to span miles - it is the largest building in the multiverse.

2. Fractured - something has shattered the multiverse, allowing players to pass from one dimension to the next. But that's not all - whatever caused the multiverse to shatter has also started to slowly collapse the parallel dimensions, not unlike a line of dominoes. As each one collapses, it triggers the collapse of its neighbor.

The players, all from different parallel worlds, have to keep in front of the collapse or be destroyed.

Which of these scenarios do you like?

The one that gets the most votes is the one I'll work on.

A friend of mine, AJR SSC BSC, uses perks in his game. Based on your profile, you get certain perks. For Fractured, everyone would start off with the "Gate" perk that lets them move between worlds. Players from magic worlds would have a "magic" perk, players from high tech worlds would have a "science" perk.

But it's very much an either/or for that. Either you use magic or you use science.

Plus I think it would help keep interest if players as they go earn points. At the end of a cycle, based on how they played, they'd get a certain number of points to buy perks, special gear and improve their level in the game.

so far only I've only gotten one vote. *sigh*

Thanks Antlers! I'm glad you like Fractured. If this doesn't take off, I may try it in the Scifi or Mature forum.

Good luck with this Enigma, I'd be interested how ever you do it.

I'll put this in my sig and hopefully it will catch some attention. You should also PM or VM some people maybe?

Thanks Antlers, Nazgul! ^ _ ^

Definitely time to let the fingers do the talking.

This sounds pretty cool you have stolen some of my interest, as well as received my vote! *Nods*

This morning there were two votes for Fractured, one for Multiverse Club. Hmmm.

Thanks! Now I'm wondering if I can run two different multiverse games - one MC with all the nation building and politics, the other Frac where the multiverse is crumbling down around everyone's ears?

Antlers, DB Wolf, Marc - can you tell me what you like about the game you voted for?

I thought maybe that there could be some conflict with the club one, like society was building up, but then another verse had more evil than good in it, soon a war starts. Some verses side with others, and destruction ensues. >.>

I liked it being more of a society, but I'm okay with either idea.

Kinda torn between the , but Fractured sounds fun.

I could go for a fusion of the two, but mostly something like Fractured, with the option for nation roleplay-styled games.

Hmm, I think I could manage something with that.

Each dimension is rated 1-10 in various categories - Bio, Tech, Magic, etc.

A 1 is really low - Bio 1 is essentially a barren plain or ocean that barely supports microscopic life, while 3 is a sort of scrub plain. Bio 10 is lush and full of endless variety - even the planet itself is alive (think Avatar/the powers that be). Humans can occupy anything between Bio 3-10.

While tech 1 is stone-age, tech 10 is super science. However, care has to be taken with devices transported across dimensions. A tech 10 AI android becomes a dead paperweight in a tech 1 stone age - but a flint knife works at all tech levels.

To keep things balanced, you get only so many points for creating your dimension. So if you want to be a high tech dimension, you have to take points away from magic or bio - probably both.

For fractured, we discover that there are negative levels that man cannot go. This is the zone for negative beings, what some call devils or demons. Gates can be made that allows a negative being to cross over temporarily from their dimension to ours - when a wizard summons a demon inside a pentagram, this is what they're actually doing.

While we've been using them, they've been using us. They've figured out a way to turn all the numbers negative, allowing them to take over a dimension.

How does that sound?

That sounds brilliant. Can't wait for an Ooc, so I can subscribe. :3

That idea sounds awesome Enigma.
As you know, I'm on from now to about 8 hours in the future from now (With small breaks occasionally), so I'm pretty flexible.

I'm usually on most of the day and afternoon. EST time zone

I'm actually liking Multiverse club too now. Playing with a society already set seems to have it's merits

The idea behind Multiverse was from a game I'd read a long time ago called All Worldz (http://danielbayn.com/allworldz/awz-primer.html) - but when I went looking for it online, I couldn't find it and thought I'd have to reinvent the wheel.

I found it tonight!

I want to use the Pillars of Science (http://danielbayn.com/allworldz/library/articles/newbies-pillars.html), the Societies (http://danielbayn.com/allworldz/library/articles/newbies-societies.html), Gates & Gating (http://danielbayn.com/allworldz/library/articles/newbies-gating.html), how the union works (http://danielbayn.com/allworldz/library/articles/newbies-union.html), & the Scientarium (http://danielbayn.com/allworldz/library/scientarium/index.html)- but not the datanet (http://danielbayn.com/allworldz/library/articles/newbies-datanet.html).

We'll be making a new lexicon (http://danielbayn.com/allworldz/library/articles/newbies-lexicon.html) for this to include Fractured.

I'd like to hear everyone's opinion on this. If I can get five yays, I'll submit the application.
