Harsh, cold winds stung Wrath’s eyes as he landed upon the tallest peak in the mountains he could find. Stinging snow flurried violently and landed upon the ground, covering every part of the mountains. The scene was a kind of silent chaos, the snow flew erratically about around him, but the only sound was the wind and nothing else. It would be a glorious sight if not for the cold. Wrath thought of using his minions to build a castle atop this peak to make the mountains his after he was done.

He tried to look around at the nearby mountains to find what he was looking for, but the snow made it difficult for Wrath to keep his eyes open, and the heavy fog didn’t help much either. He cursed the weather and found it annoying that Satan would give him an assignment as trivial as killing an old dragon in such miserable conditions.

There were many dragons, what would make this one any threat to Satan? Wrath shook his head. The assignment was most likely to deny Wrath his relaxation. Satan was never one to rest before everyone in the mortal world is either dead or damned. Wrath stood and waited on the mountain peak for his target to come to him since looking for the dragon’s lair was futile in such low visibility. He guessed that eventually the dragon would come out for food or exercise or whatever else it is that dragons come out to do.

Ruan stretched her wings – First the right, then the left. The cave was small and space was limited but it had been her nest since before she could remember. The entrance was hidden in the crag of a cliff at the near top of a mountain. It was blissfully cold, the kind that made every inch of skin vibrate with an electric sensitivity and caused the exhale of one’s lungs to mist the air a gorgeous white.

The only thing absent was her meal and her stomach reminded her of the fact relentlessly. It was an irritation; food was scarce is this part of the world and she was not one to gorge herself unnecessarily. The longer between meals, the longer she would be able to stay in her cave without starving. The way her body protested, she would be forced to try living off rabbits in a few months.

Still, sometimes there was no choice.

She knew the nest better than any other place; she could step confidently without worrying of unseen obstacle. She even sprinted the last few steps, launching herself into the sky with an almighty roar. The snow pelted down as she circled the skies freely, waiting for her nostrils to pick up the scent of her next prey.
