Historical Summary: Early expeditions sent to cross the ocean never returned, so it was assumed to be impassible and full of uncharted dangers.
The island nation of Anglas, invaded so many times in its past, became a formidable sea power. Merging with its neighbor on the continent, it became a formidable super-power. When some of the northern nations of the continent banded together to conquer the known world, Anglas-Franc stood up to the invaders, managing with its allies and an army of refugees to defeat the northern alliance – and found it the defacto power within the world, forging a mighty empire divided into various dominions under the Anglas-Franc Empress.
Expeditions sent after that found a way to the new world, discovering them to be populated mostly by Neanderthals and descendents of shipwreaked crews. When contact was made with the multiverse, it was the Northern New World Dominion that was selected for hosting the gate town.
