This RP is rated R for: Violence, Blood, Gore, Language, Alcohol, Drug Abuse, Sexual Content, Nudity, and anything else that comes along. If you cannot handle that stuff, this isn't for you, and you should go play somewhere else. (Link to the IC Thread. (http://role-player.net/forum/showthread.php?t=18262))
************************************************** ******
ALL NEW PLAYERS WHO ARE INTERESTED IN JUMPING IN FOR THE NEXT ACT, SEND ME YOUR CS. I AM NOT ACCEPTING ANYMORE NEW PLAYERS FOR ACT 2. If you want to read through everything up to this point, then click the following links:

OOC (http://role-player.net/forum/showthread.php?t=14559) (Backstory, Characters, Relics, Unseen-Halves, etc, laid out for Act 1)
IC (http://role-player.net/forum/showthread.php?t=14737) (the Events that took place in Act 1)

However, it is not necessary to read through everything, as I will provide a concise summary of essential information below.
************************************************** ******
The Unseen: The Story So Far
Twenty years ago, in the year 2022, a solar storm erupted from the sun and swept out across the surrounding system of planets, washing over Earth eight days later changing certain people, and opening them up to powers and experiences they never could imagine before. On the outside, they appeared just like you and me, but on the inside lurked their Unseen half, waiting for a chance to emerge...

The Isle of Alesia, fifty miles off the coast of North Carolina, provided a hidden base of operations for the Syber-Netix corporation, forced to relocate there when their cybernetics research was banned by the U.S. government. It also served as a top secret relocation hub for the X-Files division of the FBI and the Catholic Church, both of whom captured and relocated those people who visibly demonstrated and exhibited changes. Now, all three organizations keep an eye on those who live there, while hiding the true nature of the island's special residents from the rest of the world to avoid a full-scale panic.

Five Days Ago:Various individuals on the Island of Alesia started recognizing their powers and finding others who were like themselves. While they were doing that, they also received information from a variety of other sources about the Relics. Now those individuals have fled the Isle of Alesia to seek out those Relics on their own terms, for their own reasons...

The Present Time is August 20th, 2042, one day after the end of events in Act 1 of The Unseen (http://role-player.net/forum/showthread.php?t=14737).
************************************************** **********
Act 2: The Hunt for the Relics:
Each player in this RP controls one character, who is half-human, half-Unseen. The five possible factions for that Unseen half are: Angel, Demon, Vampire, Werewolf, Cyborg. (see the section in the original OOC (http://role-player.net/forum/showthread.php?t=14559) for information about these.) The Unseen-half of your character is completely undetectable unless you use your powers in a way that will tip others off. For all intents and purposes, there is no way to differentiate characters by appearance, scanning, or tests. The only way to tell what someone's "other half" is, is to observe them using their powers from that half, or if they are near to, or handling a Relic.

Information has been recovered by various individuals (some players, some NPCs) regarding the Relics. Here is what you need to know:

There are five Relics. Each one is small enough to be worn on a bracelet or as a pendant, earring, or other similarly sized piece of jewelry:

1) The Teardrop: Turquoise in color, in the shape of teardrop--the legend goes that a sea is captured within; lined in platinum. Rumored Location: Peru.

2) The Bloodstone: A round garnet, looking like it has something swirling within. Set in a mysterious black metal.
Rumored Location: Romania.

3) The Winterstar: At first glance, this appears to be a diamond, but it pulses with an inner glow that twinkles like a star; it is star-shaped. It is cold to the touch.
Rumored Location: Russia.

4) The Dragon's Eye: A cat's eye agate with a twist; legend has it that you can see a dark flame burning within its shadowy center. It feels warm to the touch. It is set in gold.
Rumored Location: Egypt.

5) The Shadowheart: This stone is as black as midnight on a new moon, with the tiniest shimmers of luminescence sparkling from time to time within, but never long enough to be sure you even saw them. It is smooth and round, and possess only a small single silver half loop whose two ends are sealed into the stone.
Rumored Location: Unknown.

When dealing with the Relics, keep the following rules in mind:

1) If a character touches a Relic or even comes within reach of it, it will immediately reveal his/her Unseen-half for all who are in the presence of that individual. This effect will disappear if the character moves far enough away from the Relic.

2) Others will be able to recognize the Unseen-half of a character who carries a Relic as long as it is on or near enough to that character's person.

3) The character carrying the Relic will receive an enhancement to the strength of their power and vitality equivalent to a 20% increase -- enough to give them a clear edge in combat if necessary, but it will not double or exponentially increase a character's power. Each additional Relic held by that individual adds another roughly 20% equivalent bonus to the character's power and vitality.

4) If all five artifacts are gathered by members of a single faction and brought together in the Temple of Revelation, an underground ruin located beneath the island of Alesia, then the world will undergo massive transformation into a world where the members of that one faction are all enhanced, and the prevailing conditions will make the other four factions suffer negative effects, and diminished powers.
************************************************** **********
The Rules for this RP:
1) I, ~N~ (Nyxerian), am the sole GM of this RP. I will decide who gets to join and who does not. If there is a matter of dispute between players, I will decide the outcome. If you do not like my decision, you can always take your ball and go home.

2) Please feel free to communicate with me in a PM. I will listen to what you have to say, consider it, and do my best to give you a fair response. I will not promise that you will agree with me, or that you will like me.

3) You should be a decent role-player if you're considering this RP; I want you to be giving your best. As long as you're willing to put in the effort consistently, and make this RP the best you've ever played in, then you are welcome to join, no matter your background or experience.

4) There will be combat in this RP between characters. My rule regarding combat between RPers is this: No one-shot kills. Everything else is fair game, and I expect you to interact accordingly. If you think something is out of line, and you absolutely cannot work with it, then come to me, and I'll either tell you to work with it, or I will ask the other party to edit his/her post. Don't come crying to me the first time your character gets a bloody nose.

5) Interaction is Key: Make certain that each post you write moves things along. Length doesn't matter to me. Most people find it easier to interact with others than go solo, so put yourself into their story in a way that makes sense and gives them something to work with; don't wait for them to interact with you, and be flexible about what happens. A rigid plan is the surest way to get frustrated when working with others.

6) You are allowed one week to respond to a post involving your character. If you haven't posted in seven days from the last post involving your character, I will put a notice in the OOC to give everyone else the green light to do with your character as they please.

7) Spelling should not be an issue: that's why we have a spell-checker. Your grammar should be good enough that we can read your posts.

8) You get one character at a time. If that character dies, you may create another. Yes, character death can and most likely will happen here.

9) You must submit your character sheet for approval before you are able to participate. If I approve your character sheet, you're free to post.
************************************************** ***********
On Posting:
Since there will be most likely a lot of different characters interacting in different places on this thread, you are required to post the following at the top of every single post:
DATE:
TIME:
LOCATION:
************************************************** ***********
Character Sheet:
On your character sheet, you are obligated only to give the following information publicly:

************************************************** ***********
Pending Characters waiting for Acceptance:
I AM NO LONGER ACCEPTING NEW CHARACTERS FOR THIS ACT. HOWEVER, YOU CAN PM ME YOUR CHARACTER SHEETS AND I WILL CONTACT YOU WHEN ACT 3 BEGINS (PROBABLY SOMETIME IN DECEMBER). THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST! In the meantime, you can read up and familiarize yourself on the events of Acts 1 and 2!

Unofficial FAQ
1) Are you still accepting?
Yes, but only for Act 3. All acceptances for Act 2 are closed due to its imminent conclusion.

1b) Where do we start with our first post?
Wherever you want. If you start on the Isle of Alesia, then you may want to include how you got there, but this is not required. If you're starting somewhere else in the World, please take into consideration that you are going to have to have to interact to be part of this story--don't stick yourself in Siberia 500 miles from the next player unless you don't care to play with anyone.

2) Would a character without an Unseen-half be accepted?
No, however, there's nothing saying you must ever show your "other" side (unless you grab a Relic). For all intents and purposes, you could act and remain human for the entire duration of this RP.

3) What methods, if any, does the World of this RP have of keeping people in line?

If an angel goes all nuts and calls down holy fire on someone in front of the public, any available agents (played by me) will come down on him/her and start "neutralizing" the threat. That's why displays of power must be discreet. In this RP, I will be playing the part of The World--meaning those citizens that usually just act as window dressing and fodder? They're going to have "teeth" in this one. You can't just knock them around without some kind of reaction. And remember, you're still half human. If twelve of them jump you, you're not going to be able to beat them off, no matter what you are--at least, not by yourself. Also, remember that if you use your powers, you're exposing your true Unseen-half to other players as well.

4) What about traditional assumptions from other lore about angels, demons, lycanthropes, vampires, and cyborgs?

First, remember that you are only HALF angel/demon/lycanthrope/vampire/cyborg--from that, everything else I'm going to say follows:

Forget all your prior assumptions about any of those things from this point forward. Angels aren't necessarily "holy" or "good", just as demons are not "evil" or "corrupt" by nature. Why? Because even if you cannot believe angels are "bad" or demons are "good", your human half can easily be the opposite and override your angelic/demon half. Be as bad or as good as you want to be, regardless of what your other half is. You have my endorsement and permission to do that.

Regarding possession or an internal struggle with your Unseen-half-- technically, you are not possessed--you just possess some demonic/angelic powers and/or characteristics. This goes the same way for vampires--obviously you're not some Sire's child. You were not embraced; there are no 400 year-old pure, full-blood vampire elders in this world. So treat your demonic/vampiric/lycanthropic/angelic/cybernetic powers as just that--gifted powers you were given or bestowed, but not a mandated foreign consciousness that is trying to take over your body. Now, if you want to play a character with multiple personalities, by all means, go right ahead, but there is no obligation to do so.

5) Regarding various associates, NPCs who may be loyal to you, etc; you cannot have them do anything significant. If you go around with a half-vampire gang for example, you cannot say "They all fight with me", because basically that would be like multiplying your character times ten or whatever number they are. They can get your messages, clean your house, shine your shoes, and do your laundry, but they cannot fight your battles for you. I wouldn't want anyone summoning an army of demons, commanding an army of robots, or any such thing. In the case where one of your npc lackeys gets in a situation where they might be pitted against someone else's character, as GM, I'll give that person with the primary character the edge in most cases of dispute. In other words: do your dirty work yourself. It's more fun that way anyway.

6) I will be playing the part of "The World". I will control npcs ranging from significant figures to average civilians who will react accordingly to what you do, and will do things of their own. I will not be making a specific character in this RP, as I do not think that would be A) very sporting, and B) this is a new challenge for me as a roleplayer, and one that I personally have never seen a GM do--taking the part of the normally helpless, defenseless, faceless "world" around the characters.

So be mindful; the World will have an advocate in me, and I will assume the personalities you meet and inevitably interact with to make this RP even more interesting and provocative.

7) A note about Power-gaming: At NO point should your characters act as if they know something they don't, unless it's justified (like a fit of paranoia, in which case they don't actually know anything for certain, they're just freaking out). Keep in mind that players will be revealing parts of themselves in this RP, but unless your character witnesses this, or they're walking around with a relic, there really needs to be a good reason for your character to "act as if they know", otherwise I'm going to hit you with a "Power-gaming" penalty, and ask you to edit your post. Just be aware -- your characters know only what THEY know, not what YOU as a player know.

This looks like a great game. Why not submit it for Roleplay of the Week (http://www.role-player.net/forum/showthread.php?t=905) or put it in the Roleplaying Games Directory (http://www.role-player.net/forum/showthread.php?t=2304) or click here (http://www.role-player.net/forum/showthread.php?t=3975) to help attract players?

Yes, Wednesday is the date I have set to put the IC up. (going to require a good chunk of writing on my part for that first post, so I'm giving myself at least a little space of time to write that in).

However, if you do not make the Wednesday start for whatever reason, believe me, I will still let you in. I was letting people in all the way up to the last pages of the first Unseen. So don't worry if you miss it, but of course, I would like to see everyone jump in as soon as possible.

Serin, looking forward to the new player!

Those who have sent me stuff, I'll look it over as I get the chance and get you in as soon as I am able.

Name: Timothy-James “TJ” Hunt
Sex: Male
Appearance: http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_XAePxwGya7E/R6aWbfiY9rI/AAAAAAAAAxk/fUDuRmzTMgM/s400/martinfaux2.jpg (Minus the tatoo)

For a guy that stands at only 5’6”, TJ has a stocky muscle built frame. His eyes are a light blue color, and he tends to wear shirts that are on the baggy side so he doesn’t feel restricted and can keep his firearm concealed easily. He can generally be found wearing a pair of cargo shorts and worn athletic shoes.

Equipment: Cell phone, wallet, cash, credit card, aviator sunglasses, Colt 1911, small field knife, Nissan Frontier pickup truck

Personality: TJ carries himself with an air of confidence that he picked up from his time training as a Marine. He doesn’t like to back down from a challenge, and has learned that he can usually win any physical challenge. His determination has gotten him into his fair share of trouble. The people he cares about he will protect with this same determination, but he doesn’t get close to a lot of people. TJ isn’t just a dumb grunt though, he has plenty of common sense, he’s just learned that he can usually get the same result faster by going at his problems head on. He also doesn’t have much patience for people that can’t pull their weight or complain too much, and he will let them know that.

History: TJ had a rather average life in a small town in Oregon, he grew as the oldest in a family of boys. When he graduated high school he realized he and his family didn’t have enough money for him to go to college. Instead of taking out student loans and trying to work while in school, TJ began working at an auto shop as a mechanic, hoping one day he would be able to pay for his schooling. The process was slow though, and TJ often found himself getting bored of his life in his hometown. Eventually he enlisted with the Marine Corp and did two tours of duty as a SAW Gunner. After that, he was put on reserve duty. While doing a routine physical examination, TJ couldn’t pass the blood test. The Marine Corp decided to honorably discharge him and sent him on his way. Since then, TJ has been working in Romania as small time security for two reasons. First, no blood tests or anything like that. Two, his dollar went farther there.

FracturedPixel and Neodraconis, I await your Character Sheets.

FracturedPixel

how's this?

Name: Caden White
Sex: Male
Appearance: Caden is lean and young, about 17 or so. He doesn't have much muscle on him, but can certainly rely on agility in a fight. About 5'9'', not completely grown yet, and around 130 lbs. His hair is a typical brown color, short and messy.
Equipment: Caden doesn't have much. The only things he regularly has with him is his trusty pocket knife and a small pack filled with whatever he's recently stolen.
Personality: Caden looks normal on the outside, but inside he is anything but. Life on the streets have made him into a compulsive liar, but few see through his web of lies to realize it. In a conflict, he's the type to stay hiding in the shadows, watching it all go down, before joining in at the last second on the side of the winners in order t glean the greatest benefit with the least risk.
History: His mother and father were both very uncaring towards him, making it clear that he was a mistake to them. As such, he's always lived somewhat on the outskirts. It started off when he ran away for the first time when he was 5. He spent the night in his back yard, and when he came home in the morning his parents had forgotten he was there. Since then he's run away many, MANY more times, gradually pulling away completely from his home as his stays out on the street got longer and longer. As of right now he hasn't stopped by his home in a little over 2 years. One day he woke up not in the gutter where he had passed out the night before, but in Alesia. There he met others that had shared similar strange experiences, and for now plans to tag along with them as they try and discover meaning behind it. As they all went off to search the world for answers to their questions, Caden chose to stick around with the ones set for Moscow.

Fractured, as soon as I get your reply via PM, I'll add you to the accepted list.

For the rest of you, the IC is officially up (http://role-player.net/forum/showthread.php?p=686257#post686257). I chose to focus on the NPCs. You can choose to jump in and explain your own entrances (off the planes or whatever) as you like. Feel free to interact with the NPCs if you like, or to track them or tag along.

All is fair game in this game.

FracturedPixel, welcome to the Unseen: Act 2!

Yes, of course there's something happening in Rome! You didn't think I'd just have everything contained in Alesia, did you? *grins*

There's much more to this than what you folks uncovered on the Island. I've got so many pieces on the board, they're going to come out of the woodwork at you.

So invite as many people as possible in this RP! Even though we've officially started, I could use at least a dozen more people!

I'll try to get something up, but I'm not sure it will be before sunday. I have something in mind, but I want it detailed and awesome as ever.

And I kinda need my friends for some words written in Russian too, so it might take me a bit while longer, but I'll try to speed up.

Anne, fabulous post darling. Attention to detail, attitude, love it.

Cookies, way to jump right in there in Romania, too! Excellent way to set up interaction with Tansy.

Keeper, well done on the internal monologue; good feelings description as well as revealing that inner struggle with a nice slice of tension.

Aheris, good move striking out on your own, and doing things your way. That opens up all kinds of possibilities there, with the NPCs going one way, and you doing things (with Keeper and whoever else) another way.

Name: Gihst Wich

Sex: Male

Age: 32

Appearance: A median between wiry strength and voraciously lean, Gihst emanates a muted feral semblance, skulking smoothly and abjectively at an imposing height of six-foot-three; in structure, he is the typical mature male in his prime, wide-shouldered and solid. Grey eyes stare out with a vulturous intellect from his wearily bruised sockets and knitted brow; sooty black hair is kept short, shaggy, and disheveled, with stubble left to pepper his jawline; scars and tattoos mar his swarthy skin, with gnarled hands that boast callous only accomplished through rigorous toil; Gihst embodies the stereotype of a drifter in whole. His attire favors practicality over fashion; with a simple black 'beater, denim jeans, suspenders, steel toe boots, a pair of polarized goggles, and a dusty leather long coat, he is fitted for whatever activity or weather comes his way. The only oddity in the entirety of his person is a white rosary hung around his throat.

http://i.imgur.com/vSh4t.jpg

Equipment: Gihst possesses custom shoulder holsters holding two, eighteen inch Kukri concealed beneath his long coat. Otherwise, he carries a leather messenger bag containing: a whetstone, a canteen, three battered paperbacks; two without covers and one bible, a leather bound journal, a metal flask, and far too many packs of Djarum cigarettes.

Personality: At a glance, Gihst is a man crafted of stone and vinegar; he is an intimidatingly mature and intense individual. Patient and composed, his exterior has long since cooled with an older man's restraint, but it is only a cold crust over a vicious temperament. Like the freerunning he practices, there appears to be a certain confidence and fluidity to his mannerisms, as though he possesses some extrasensory understanding of the ebb and flow of the world around him; the environment is a sandbox in which anything and everything can be used to his advantage. Gihst is a thinker in which deduction and subterfuge are paramount. Being beguiling, nihilistic, and world-weary with a sardonic sense of humor, his motives are often questionable despite a strangely humanist perspective.

History: There is not much to say about the man from the Isle of Skye other than – despite appearances – he is educated. It can be presumed that once he had a rather average life with some occupation composed of hard manual labor, the average joe homebody with dirty hands and sweat, something that ended with a reoccurring dream that sent him adrift in the world...

Wow Black Dog, did you draw that image?

Gah, Cal is still offline... so I went ahead and posted.... Unless it's a problem and then I'll move him from the post or change it.

Did some digging into this post (That's why it took me so long... and the fact I wanted epic plot twist in it) I've come upon a place I believe I'd like to start the search for the star in, but I'll let the NPC do their work before, just to know if I'm on the right way...

I'll PM Ava now and find a way to continue this with her.

and I secretly wanna go see this show I wrote about (which was supposed to come here, but got cancelled on the last minute)

If there is any problem whatsoever with my post (since I never was actually in Russia and used my friends and the web to help me with the writing) let me know okay?

So far you guys are awesome. I don't know what else to say.

Kris, the exotic nature of your post with the show and the imagery as well the allusions to where the star is kept is just surprisingly excellent.

Serin, your humor is definitely welcome. Hehe.

Mysti, good post with the dialogue and descriptions of Shiloh and Isaac. (Hopefully Random will return to us soon!)

And Black Dog, that was pure goodness on the description and language in your dialogue; your writing is very vivid and sharp with the internal suffering as well as the external appearance of your character, the way he says things, and how he acts. Excellent first post from you, sir.

I'm fortunate to have all of you in this.

Name: Taylor Banks
Sex: Male

Appearance/ The first thing you'll note about the man are his eyes, electric blue and radiating a gentle pulse as they target your form. At five foot seven inches of slender toned muscle, he appears average enough, though the point of his dark brows as they furrow above those thick lacy lash wrapped eyes; cast an ill tempered gaze upon any and all. His form is wrapped in sun kissed flesh. a deep tan that speaks of his middle eastern heritage. Fluffed hair, so deeply jet black that it gleams with a lapis sheen - top's his head, and when not tucked back; pours over his eyes, hiding their quiet ambitions. He wears form fitting dark clothing, accentuating his slim frame yes; but never catching in a 'get away.' The only -constant- color that litters his form rest within the lines of his striped finger-less gloves, blinding green looping the black fabric. Heavy boots when traveling, worn converse while working; this hacker dresses for 'success.' Vanity, in the form of piercings, are to be found scattered about his flesh; Two silver hoops clasp the flesh of his right lobe, side by side. His labret is noted by the dark pearly bauble, centered and below his bottom lip. The flesh above his collar bones, are laced with steel barbells, and fastened with matching metallic balls. Mirrored glasses often hide those sparking eyes of his, helping him fade into the background, at twenty three years old, this often proves to be just the case. A kid, starting off in the world. Who'd a' thunk?

Equipment/ Laptop bag, containing two thick souped up laptops, with cords, foldaway keyboard, digital camera, and I-pod. One black berry phone, one I-Phone, four flash drives (5 terabyte's each.) One backpack, containing: A water bottle, pack of trail mix, several packs of cigarettes, A rescue folder spring assist knife, eight boxes of (25count) 9mm ammo, a pack of replacement piercings, a black nondescript hoody, one digital-pet toy (a bubble like creature, well fed.), a dented and worn silver pocket watch, and five grand cash stowed at the bottom. One typically worn shoulder holster rig; with two black nine millimeter's tucked away within. One (worn) paracord digital watch. One chain wallet with the usual, One duffle bag, usually stowed at whatever hell hole he's staying the night at; filled with clothing.

Personality: An excitable young man, always out for the next job. Hyperactive, to the point of distraction. He'll put on a good show at being a serene soul when the occasion calls, but is typically amped up about some scheme or another. He talks excessively, often in internet slang. (Example: "Haha, you derp. I told you to cut the green cord, not the blue. El- Oh - El dude, El oh el.) His sense of humor is an inside joke at best. Ill tempered, and occasionally childish; one would never expect him to be the cool headed criminal involved in countless unsolved cases of burglary. A bit of a weak stomach when it comes to violence, he'll often go out of his way to avoid actual altercation; (hence his standoffish facade). His quirky nature, and scowling demeanor leaves little wonder as to his lonesome circumstances.

But with how I'm thinking right now, it's actually kinda difficult to think of a way to make a four or five paragraph post of him waiting for her to say that one sentence then responding. Hey all, sorry about the delay with Me and Aheris' post. I'm going to try and wrap it up at earliest possible. I just hope I can catch her tomorrow night. I'm going to try and get it so that we just write in the dialogue and basic bodily motions, and I'll write it up in my style, more from Lance's point of view, and she can comment in Character in her own post what was going through Guiliana's head at the time.

If there is anything wrong with it, just let me know and I'll change/edit.

~N~
08-14-2011, 01:23 AM
Okay, so this is Rule #6 on the first post of this OOC:

6) You are allowed one week to respond to a post involving your character. If you haven't posted in seven days from the last post involving your character, I will put a notice in the OOC to give everyone else the green light to do with your character as they please.

This rule applies in this roleplay, just like the previous Act of the Unseen. I realize this is August, and the whole damn forum seems like it's in a bit of a slump in the past few weeks, and that's understandable because people disappear off the net and do things for the summer.

But I'd like to remind those people who have not posted yet, or are overdue in their posting cycle that Rule #6 still applies, and that I will be moving characters to the Inactive List who have not posted at all yet.

In addition, if one of you good, active people are waiting on one of those other people, then you have my permission here and now to do whatever you like with their characters.

One thing that I won't stand for is people not following through on their part of any roleplay. You join because you want to play, and then you just don't show? No. That doesn't work for me. I know that seems to work for a lot of other GMs who are admittedly more lenient about this than I am, but I'm not them. Either get in and post, or I'll show you the door. End of story.

We all have busy lives, and I'm willing to bet mine's busier than yours. But that won't keep me from contributing to this RP any more than it should you. So that excuse doesn't work, either.

If you're going to be away, tell me. I like communication; it's better than just flying off to wherever and leaving us all to wonder where the fuck you went, and when the fuck you'll be back. Nobody likes to be left hanging.

So without further ado, the following people are OKAY in my book and are required to post on the dates following their names:

Mysteria and RandomLogic: Due Date for your next post: 8/18/11.
Anne Bonny and CookiesAhoy: Due Date for your next post: 8/16/11.
Kris: Due Date for your next post: 8/20/11.

PEOPLE WHO ARE PAST DUE AND NEED TO POST ASAP:

Aheris, Serin, Keeper: Due date was 8/10/11. Number of Days LATE: THREE I'm going to add that Serin indicated he was waiting for Aheris who was actually away for four days (just came back tonight) and she should've posted that here. However, I mentioned the issue of waiting on others for a co-op post as sometimes resulting in nothing getting done. I like interaction as much as the next guy, and post efficiency is a good thing, but not when it means NO ONE POSTS. If you find your partner is just not around, and you just cannot find them to do that co-op, GO AHEAD AND POST WHAT YOU CAN, and make it MEANINGFUL. It's called adapting and improvising--the best roleplayers all do it, because at some point, everyone must do it. We've all been in those situations; you can't let it just be an excuse to do nothing.

Black Dog: Due date was 8/8/11. Number of Days LATE: FIVE. I liked your first post, I really did, and then you dropped off the planet. What gives?

PEOPLE WHO HAVE NEVER POSTED AND ARE NOW BEING MOVED TO THE INACTIVE LIST UNTIL THEY DECIDE TO CONTRIBUTE:

Calamosis
RisingPhoenix
Ava
FracturedPixel
Nimh

I'm disappointed with this because this list includes a number of new people and all I ever got was a character sheet. Anyone can do better than that.

I'm sorry that I have to rant like this; I really don't care to, but I feel like right now, early on, it's important to either decide to be a part of this, or just call it, because I'm not putting up with bullshit lack of effort. I know the people on these last two lists are capable of more than this.

Apologies accepted, but looking forward to your posts more.

And now on to the compliments:

Anne and Cookies: Excellent co-op; the cooperation is dovetailing there in that last post seamlessly, and I'm glad you two blended your characters so well at Bran Castle, with your backgrounds, your lack of familiarity and the similar outlooks on the country... Well done.

Mysti: Good introduction of Professor Langdon; like the picture as well as the easy-going personality that makes him seem very warm, and explains your character's friendliness with him. You may want to consider possible interaction with Max Miller at some point, or at least a mention, since they're both in the same ruins.

Kris: You continue to do outstanding work in your posts. The conversations kind of passed the time in the first half of your post, but when you get back to your mysterious stranger, things really go from "okay" to "BAM!". I love the way you played up the interaction between two Unseens there!

Keeper: Excellent inner dialogue work bringing out Evalon and her conflicting personality, and the image of Richard. Awesome job. Thank you for posting.

Keep up the chemistry--I expect this to continue as your characters move towards the relic.

RisingPhoenix: You are off the Inactive List, sir, and I will interact with your character with my next post as Father Francis. Good post, getting some opportunity for interaction there, as well as getting your character on the way to the relic.

Kris, excellent work on exploring and bringing out more of your Unseen. I've added a bit to the plot you'll be working with.

Rising, hopefully that reply to you gives you something to play off of as well, if you look for it. There are a number of ways you could go. I look forward to what you decide to do with it.

Keeper, good work on making a bridge from your character's trauma to the invitation for Aheris's character in your post.

Mysti, thank you for the invite to interaction there, and I've given you a response that will definitely mean further consequences in the future for your little party. Looking forward to playing that out.

Black Dog, let me know if that doesn't work for you; I tried to work with the idea we discussed, but the timing is a bit off, so I gave you what I could.

To All: As you can see, I'm willing to interact with your characters whenever the opportunity arises. Looking forward to the future posts from all of you. Keep up the good work.

Aheris and Innkeeper: The dialogue was big on character development and interaction between your two very different characters. Aheris, great transition at the end there with the hook to Lance from Guiliana. Keeper, once again, you bring to light just how much of a stranger Stephanie is to this world. Her inner conflict with Evalon will present some challenges as she tries to cope with the world around her, as well as the presence within her. Well done and good teamwork.

Anne: Your character's response was superb. Once again, Tansy wrestles with the "oddness" of her being at Bran Castle, with the desire to interact with TJ. Your responses were believable, thorough, and entertaining. Love the insight into her inner thoughts as she navigates the questions and unusual nature of her situation.

08-28-2011, 02:35 AM
Alright, so I'm looking at these posts of wonderful writing, and I'm thinking to myself "So where are we?"

The following is an updated list of response due dates:

RisingPhoenix: 8/28 -- That's tomorrow. If you post Monday, I'll let it slide.

RandomLogic: 8/28--Same deal. Mysti's doing a fine job carrying you, but you need to come through too.

Mysti, I know yours is on the way, so I'll await that. Yours is due 8/28 as well, but you have my permission to do whatever you like with Random's character, or turn him over to me.

Keeper, your next is due 8/30, unless Serin and Aheris interact/respond to your character in their upcoming post (because the rule states that it's seven days from the last post involving/responding to your character)

Aheris and Serin, I've got the impression your post is coming, it's due 8/30 as well.

Cookies, your deadline actually starts from Anne's post, which puts your reply due at 9/1. So you're actually okay, because once again, it starts from the last post involving/responding to your character. Now, if you put something up before that, I'll be happy to take it.

Black Dog, another excellent post from you. I continue to love your descriptive capabilities, and so far, they've served your "soloing" well. Everything from the pain in his chest from the cough to the piece by piece description of the castle at night is delicious. I am looking forward to interaction from you in future posts, however, since there are a number of other characters in your proximity. Well done, and I'm very glad you continue to make skilled contributions in this roleplay. Your next deadline (assuming no interaction from anyone else, which may occur and push it out further) is 9/3.

Kris, your post continues your ever progressing exploration into your character's Unseen half. I am deeply enjoying watching you unfold the puzzle that is Sarina carefully like origami, revealing flaps and layers underneath that tell us, the audience more about who she is, and what she's capable of. The next post I make, I will assume control of your dancer acquaintance if that is acceptable to you. Your next due date will depend on when I make that post. Well done, as always.

To All: Thank you again for staying on top of this and keeping up with your posts. I really appreciate it, and I believe it is helping this RP to remain focused and alive.

Expect a post from me tomorrow...

And I never knew how much fun someone could have just looking at pictures on a tablet

~N~
08-31-2011, 03:52 PM
Keeper, wonderful post with the reactions to the tablet; I'm enjoying Stephanie's eccentricities as you carefully discover them for us with everything she touches (quite literally). Once again, I can't wait until she's in the salt mines, surrounded by nature that... might bring forth a different reaction in her.

Kris, I chuckled several times reading your post. I love Sarina's reactions to her trip to the strip bar. *laughs* Very well played out, and very realistic, considering who she is and how she would react to being put in that situation.

Although, I would note that what they're setting up is not a "tournament" per se, but rather Tony's "reinforcements" to go after the Russian mob. But if that's what the dancer meant, then that's fine by me.

Once again, definitely entertaining, and quite enjoyable to read.

Mysteria, I have played out Isaac's exit from the "game" as it were, as well as I am able (I hope Random, if he returns, finds it at least consistent with his character's inner struggle) so you can take it from there... getting him to another hospital, or whatever you wish to do with his character at this point. I leave that choice to you.

Serin/Aheris, Anne/Cookies, and RisingPhoenix; I need to see posts from you folks asap.

Thank you very much! =D

I did mean the word "tournament" more as something as who will get to the star first (Sarina and the Russian dancer, the Italians mobs, or the Russian Mobs), but I'll try to focus more with that word meaning next time.

@Anne- Yeah, I feel so too. I really enjoyed reading his stuff :/

But... we still got some really good writers around and I can't wait to see more posts =D

~N~
08-31-2011, 07:11 PM
Anne, glad to hear it...

(now if only I can get a response from Serin, and see something from Rising...)

Kris, I thought that might be the case, which is why I included that part about "if that's what you meant". No worries then!

And yes, I am sorry to see Random drop out too, but I did as well as I could by him, and his character's in a coma for now, so if he stays away, well, that's explained, and if he comes back, he wakes up. So both outcomes are covered there reasonably.

Mysteria
08-31-2011, 09:01 PM

POSTED......sorry for the delay, I was really behind in school work. So sorry......

Phoenix, believe me, I'm buried under schoolwork, so I understand. I am beyond grateful at the length and quality of the posts I have received (and continue to receive in this RP), and I cannot stress that enough. However, I also want to say that I will accept shorter posts, or posts that are quite as exceptional as those which have been offered are, in light of RL duties and responsibilities.

Again, I am ever grateful that the contributions made are of such high quality. Thank you again for that, and to you Serin, Blackdog, Cookies, and all who have posted in this thread. I just don't want any of you to feel pressured to write "the great post of the ages" if you are already contending with important RL issues. If it happens that your post is shorter, or perhaps it isn't entirely marvelous in your eyes; that is completely acceptable in my eyes.

I look for your continued contributions most of all, and by parts and pieces and steps, big and small, we shall proceed, and length, as I have stated is not necessarily equal to greatness of writing (too often we confuse quantity with quality). As you all have continued to hold to standards that most roleplayers in my long years on such forums could not ever stick to, I am most proud of all of you who have remained with us, as well as who seek to add their own contributions to this thread and those sequels to come.

I will seek to add my own post tomorrow and shall respond to those who have posted already, and I have not gotten a chance to enjoy reading their work (which is roughly the last couple days of posting).

~N~
09-05-2011, 03:36 PM
You have another day Kris.

I'm going to post today, if I can.

But before I do that:

Serin and Aheris - outstanding work on your character interaction. Serin -- love the introspection, and the subtle revelations of your Unseen. The exhaustion between your characters is palpable, and when Guiliana asks for the lighter, I felt like "Yeah, I could use one too." I couldn't ask for a better idea of mood, as the tension between them is also as tangible as the space and directness of their eyes, meeting one another as you describe them. I also like the ironic use of the ever symbolic lighter and the light it provides to both the characters and their surroundings.

Keeper - the way you hooked on to the end of their post and dovetailed with Aheris/Serin's description of the ruins was beautiful. It's like you were perfectly complimenting the picture they started painting. Very well done. You can definitely tell that while Stephanie is still nervous and wary, she also seems more "in her element".

Phoenix - I am getting indications that you want to build on the relationship with Father Francis. I'm more than willing to do that, and in my up coming post, I will give Nicolai even more to work with.

Serin, Keeper, Aheris -- SURPRISE!

Blackdog, Anne, Cookies: You have two significant NPCs in your area, with Prophet's character likely to follow (though that depends on him). Be mindful of the time coordination.

Mysti: Excellent interaction in dealing with Isaac. I gave you the dialogue to work with and you danced like a pro with it. YAY CS time!!

Name: Autumn Richards
Sex: Female
Appearance:Height is 5'6. Her eyes are green. Her hair is jet black, reaches down to her waist, and has 2 purple streaks in it. What she usually consists of a plain black shirt, black and purple plaid skirt that reaches slightly above her knees, and knee high black socks.
Personality: Contrary to her Gothic appearance, Autumn is a fun loving person with a laid back personality. She likes to meet people and loves to talk. You will usually find her where there are a lot of people have gathered, places like clubs. Sometimes shes a bit random, making comments totally unrelated to her current conversation.
Age:19
Believe it or not she worked at Wal-Mart, until they fired her for inappropriate dressing. Can you believe that?! and this was supposed to be a free country! So she takes whatever job she can. She moved to the island because she needed a change of pace...and have even more fun! And maybe go to college.

Shes constantly mistakened as a prostitute so she took up Savate and kickboxing as self defense.

Kris, I'm glad you are finding the priests, particularly Father Francis to be interesting. The Church is probably the least "forward" of all of my powers at work at the moment. Your post with Sarina definitely brought out the tension between the dancer and your character. Indeed, the innuendo and sparks between them is getting tenser by the moment, and that is definitely an enjoyable development. I tried to maintain that in my response.

Keeper: the inner conflict Stephanie is having with Evalon inspired Ben's short response to your character, as I tried to play on that. I am not acting as though he knows, but he is not without the instinct to turn a situation to his advantage, even if he doesn't know he's playing with fire while doing so. His little wink to the other two characters should definitely provide enough for you to work with, Aheris and Serin.

RisingPhoenix: I'm waiting on your reaction Father Francis.

Prophet: There ya go! Your move. I'm very much enjoying this little game you've taken up with me! We'll see how this progresses and what twists and turns it takes!

Anne, Blackdog, Cookies: Looking for a post from each of you. Let's keep the suspense and interaction at Bran Castle going!

Mysti: Per our discussion, I'm waiting on you to initiate dialogue with Professor Langdon. Once you do, I'll respond with him, and move Max and Sarah along.

Also, Jeremy will be featured in my next post, for anyone curious about him.

I liked it!!! =D

I may need your help about the other two options in order to write up my next post.

Also, Jeremy will be featured in my next post, for anyone curious about him.

Yay! :D

Okay, so you all rock. I mean seriously. Those last round of posts were all just goddamn great, and I can't even do them proper justice with my words. Everyone was spot on.

If I wasn't so goddamn buried under deadlines and ever growing piles of work, I'd go down the list, but I just want to give you all a round of applause. They were a true pleasure to read.

Kendric, along those lines, I sincerely apologize for the delay. I promise I will get to you as soon as I shovel this other RL shit out of the way.

Keeper, Serin, Aheris, I'll be looking for your contributions next.

Everyone, thank you, thank you. Keep up the good work. Looks like I got a lot to respond to in my next post.

Post incoming tomorrow. Hopefully.

It's gonna be a big one... (that's why I'm making no guarantees) By my reckoning I've got to respond to Aheris/Keeper, Kris, Anne/Cookies/BlackDog, Rising, Mysteria, and move Jeremy along.

Even at 30 minutes per part, that's about 3 solid hours, so I'll do what I can to get it posted by tomorrow night.

*************************************

Okay... so that didn't work out. After being deprived of my car thanks to a wonderful foul-up at the repair shop, my plans tonight were... to say the least... delayed. I'll have the post up as soon as I can schedule the time this weekend.

As for everyone else (except Serin) enjoy the break, think about what you might post after my responses to you.

Yeah, you're right, I'm super late. Not for lack or trying. Frakes didn't even give notation to Lance, and honestly he'd have nothing to say until he's knocked out of his head by someone commenting to him. So I am sorry. But am I apologetic for not wanting to pound out what? Five paragraphs of stressing that he's REALLY feeling out the situation? Not really. And that said, I can post a one paragrapher. But c'mon, lets face it, you and I both know that that is going to look like shit. Like I wasn't even trying.

I'm not trying to be an ass, ya know? It's just the fact that currently, I don't have a whole lot to work with. I mean, Aheris and Keepers post give me a bit to work with, but not a whole lot. Just an additional line of "Oh Stephanie is back, and Guiliana apparently knows him. But I do admit, I can be trying a smidge harder.

So I'mma rack my all writers blocked up brain, and see if I can't get something ready by the time you post. But if I don't, if your post gives me bit more to go on, you can bet your ass I'll be the first damn post on the thread right after.

Prophet, shut up. Your post was great. I like the way you handled Sandler. You've played this game very tight the whole way and I respect that. Sure, you got a little loose in that last post for the sake of action, but the tension has to be punctuated with such moments. You clearly know what you're doing and I expect some very interesting interaction between you and Anne, Cookies and BlackDog.

Kris: damn. That is all.

Aheris: Hehe... trying to lure Ben away... I wonder if he'll go for it? I wonder if your two companions will go for it?

Serin and Keeper: Nice job taking steps forward and inserting yourself into the action there and thickening the plot. Right now, this thing could go at least two ways, and possibly more, depending on your next posts.

Mysti: Wonderful post. The suspense of revealing your character to Langdon was definitely tangible in your writing, and the complications that go along with that curveball I threw you, you played off well. We'll see where this goes! I've got a lot of variables in the mix for you, so expect to keep on negotiating hurdles.

I just want to say something to all of you:

One of the distinctive characteristics of this roleplay that I wanted to build in was a kind of shared control that this could go any number of directions, and it has. It is my personal belief that as writers, it is critical that we allow ourselves to be surprised, and that comes with allowing others to take things in a direction we didn't anticipate or plan for, and then our true abilities as writers emerge in how we react to those "curveballs" and surprises; when we ourselves are surprised, and write in the moment.

I think we've accomplished that here, in the Unseen, Acts I & II, and as we move closer to Act III, the time of conflict between our characters draws near. Combat is a form of conflict, and conflict is just an aspect of roleplaying. I am looking forward to our characters engaging each other either as allies or enemies (or both!) with the same shared control and essential surprises that come with letting another person take things in a direction you didn't plan for. In combat, that often comes at a cost to your character, but the one rule in this roleplay as far as combat is concerned is that there are no "one-shot kills" -- you will always have a chance to react. How you do so is up to you, and the possibilities are more varied than you might ever have anticipated. A few choices might mean an end to your character, while others may simply make it look like such an end has occurred.

I'm letting you all know right now: in Act III, as part of the requirement for playing, you will all be required to come up with a second character. This character will be a minor character to your main character, but should be every bit as rich as your main. That character too will be an "unseen", but beyond that, there are no restrictions (aside from what you had with your main character). If your first character was an angel, your minor character can be anything you want them to be; they don't have to be the same kind of "unseen".

I'm putting that out there right now so all of you can start thinking about your second character. Ultimately, they may remain just a secondary character--or, in the event of the first character's passing, they may step up in their place to take the spotlight. The choices will ultimately be--at least in part--up to you.

I intend to post sometime between now and Wednesday.

Play on!

Hey, hate to be a douche, pointing out facts and whatnot... Prophet, Sandler was headed to the front door, and the door to the stairwell where the Player Character Group went was locked. That was stated in both the last in character post by the group, as well as ~N~'s last post as well. So Sandler wasn't descending any stairs, and the stairwell was, for all intents and purposes inaccessible. How does Flynn have any idea that that is where they are since there's no evidence of their existence there and hasn't scoped the entire place out, and how is he going to get in for that matter.

Sorry about the notation. I'm just a stickler about inconsistencies.

Prophet, shouldn't require too much editing. How you want to deal with the closed door is all you. Just see to it that it's actually closed/locked, then handle it as you will.

Alright, posted.

Rising, I'll respond to you when you've posted.

Anne, Cookies, Blackdog, and Prophet, you guys are on your own... for the moment.

Aheris, Serin, Keeper: I decided to offer you a choice of how to go from here... you can react to Ben's offer as you wish.

Mysti: You can either take up Langdon's offer, or you can counter with an alternative time/means of transport.

Next post will likely feature reply to Rising and post with Jeremy.

"You're having visions?" he said incredulously. "Are you certain these are benevolent manifestations? The god Set was not unlike our Christian Satan--he was capable of taking many forms, of controlling beasts of the earth, particularly the most dangerous ones. He represented the cruelty of the wilderness in Africa, the savage nature of the land itself. It could just as easily be a presence like his that is leading you on this journey, in which case we should not be seeking this artifact."

I could rep you just on that part alone.

I wouldn't have thought something so obvious as a locked door had to be spelled out for people but no worries. With any luck the minor edits I made will set things right and there will be no more complaints. lol
