Rated M for Mature Audiences. This RP will contain harsh language, great potential for violence, and adult situations.

Lawrence stepped into the dim light and instantly recoiled. "Throne... what is that smell?" he instinctively raised a bionic limb to his face. The contoured, black Nitrate coated panels shifted ever so slightly over the synthetic fiber bundles and hardened armatures. "That's either very old cake or very good liquor."

A voice from the gloom said "Both... but what do you care?"

"Are you still hung up on all this, Walt? Look it's just been a week, that's way too early to start getting stir crazy." Lawrence asked as he stepped closer to a bank of softly glowing monitors. An aging man was slumped in front of them. He was like a beast that had been caged for far too long.

Walter leaned to one side, supporting his chin with a gnarled paw. "If Franklin were here we'd be down there, beating the answers out."

"But he's not." Lawrence said as he folded his cybernetic limbs. "Priest is dead and I'm sorry but you're stuck with me now. Hate to disappoint you but...."

"Oh shut up. Give it a rest you little puke." Brenner replied. He leaned forward and said "We need to get a team down there."

"Not a chance in the warp." Lawrence replied "I'm not putting agents down there right now. Kadath's boys are securing the core of the city and the Sons are mopping up the insurgents. They wont last much longer."

"Do you even know how to fight an insurrection like this?" Walter spat.

"Do you?" Lawrence replied. "This isn't a damn safari, old man. And there's no way I'd sign off on putting agents on the ground in this. We've already got the locals, ISTs, and the Marines... that should be enough to keep things under control."

"What about Dr. Taymor?" Walter said.

"What about her? Her offices are in the Green Zone, we'll have her evacuated today or tomorrow."

"We should have already pulled her out, she should have been one of the first." Walter grumbled. "Someone tried to kill her."

"Probably the same someone that took a shot at the Governess but can you imagine the fiasco that Evac'ing her entire lab would be? We locked down the block... she'll be fine." Lawrence replied.

"The insurgents think she has a cure and it's being withheld... why is she not top priority?"

Lawrence's voice took on a blatantly impatient tone as he said "Because it's a lot easier to secure a perimeter than it is to herd a bunch of lab rats into transports." Lawrence turned away and said "Look... we'll be able to get her out in no time. Just relax. Don't want you stroking out on me." He turned and left, Walter's eyes burning holes in the back of his head as he went.

Brenner waited a few minutes, watching combat feeds on the screens before him. Then he shifted. His shouldered stiffened and his eyes widened. He hoisted himself to his feet and quickly left his room. He trotted through the corridors of the Blackship quickly, carving a path through the constant flow of attendants and officers. He approached a polished hydraulic door and pressed the keypad beside it. The device's response was a tone that could best be described flatulent. Walter's blotched brow creased slightly before he pulled back his left hand and smashed it into the panel. A shower of sparks and fractured keys tumbled out onto the floor as he quickly stepped into the room. "McKenzie?" he called into the pitch dark.

A halogen light flickered on and cast a soft blue glow over the edge of a comforter. A thin, pale wrist attached to an equally slender arm retracted quickly. A meek head covered in short black waves of hair slid out from under the blanket "Walt? What in the..."

"I need a team."

"For what?" McKenzie yawned.

"I'll give you one guess... and it needs to be off the books."

"I really don't like the sound of this." she said as she sat up. "Who do you want?"

"Surprise me." Walter replied "Six... maybe eight. Talented, able to cope. I'll need a way onto the surface as well."

"You can't take an Aquila, no way I could write one of those off."

"So come up with something you can write off." Brenner said smugly. "What kind of manpower do we have now?"

"Well Suffolk's ship got here yesterday... he's dead but his people are on hand."

"How many?"

"With the personnel here? Maybe five... six hundred agents."

"Well work your magic and come up with half a dozen with good records and skillsets, I'll need them within the hour."

McKenzie scooted towards the edge of her bed, taking care to keep her blanket wrapped tightly around her narrow chest. "An hour? You really know how to stay on my good side don't you?"

"What's Sidonis paying you for? Chop chop." Walter said, smacking his hands together.

"Kepler, report in."

Yvonne picked up the vox set held it up to her face. "This is Lieutenant Kepler, go ahead HQ."

"Where are you? We're getting interference from the rain."

"We're at objective Epsilon, we just secured it." she replied, her voice bouncing off the interior of the Valkyrie slightly. "Where do you need us?"

"Objective Rho, the PDF are having trouble with some guerillas."

"Task Force Carbon is en route, we can be there in sixty." Yvonne replied as he laid her blade across her lap.

"Fantastic. Hopefully this storm will let up."

"Emperor willing." Yvonne replied.

"Kadath out."

Six points of iridescent light moved over the rain soaked city. The six were arranged into a pair of triangles and they rested silently just behind a pair of irises. Mr. Emerald slid organic hand over one of the shoulders of his three piece peridot suit. The fingers of his cybernetic arm quivered slightly. He cleared his throat and lit a coal black lho stick with a copper filter. "Time to go." he said to his followers.

"Go, sir?" asked a robed figure straddling the arm of a modular couch places dramatically in the center of the penthouse.

"Yes, Juno, go." Emerald replied "We're all paid up here. It would be rude to overstay our welcome."

"Paid, sir?"

Emerald's nostrils flared as twin coils of indigo smoke snaked across his cheeks and back along his ears. "If you're not paying for something you're not the customer... you're the product being sold." he said flatly.

"I can't imagine the locals letting us go that easily. What with the fighting and all."

"I'd love to see them stop us...." Emerald said as he scooped up a collection of fleshly printed documents from the slab of adamantium that served as a coffee table. "Or catch us once we're gone."

"Right, sir."

"Get everyone up. I've grown tired of this decor." Emerald said as he turned back to the window.

The world of Teleostei was once a rolling orb of endless blue. An entire globe of seas with nothing but waves and clouds. A city was built there, constructed on segmented platforms anchored to the seabed far below. The city plays host to an array of medicae research labs and mechanicum facilities. The seas are bountiful and provide plenty of resources for medicines as well as an infinite testing ground for engines and weaponry.

But some time ago a plague joined the rain and tides, drenching the city to its core. The flesh eating virus was not crafted by the ruinous powers nor was it derived from alien material. It was of purely natural origins. The Inquisition was called in to lend support to the Medicae technicians but shortly after arriving it was found that something far more insidious was afoot. One of the Agents leading the investigation was killed by a sniper, right after landing no less. Shortly after that there were consecutive assassination attempts on the Governess and Dr. Taymor, the formost Medicae researcher on the planet. The Governess and half the Agents were immediately withdrawn for security concerns. It was then that a rumor joined the plague and quickly began to spread through the city.

The thought was that there was a cure when in truth there was none. People took up arms and turned on their leaders. Seeing a revolt Inquisitor Lord Sidonis withdrew the rest of his people and tasked other assets with the insurgency. Four companies of the Sons of Plutarch, a Marine Chapter permanently seconded to the Inquisitor Lord were tasked with stamping out the uprising. In addition approximately three hundred Inquisitorial Storm Troopers have been assigned with evacuating citizens and securing a buffer zone around the Palace and core facilities. A week has passed and the insurgency is progressively being pushed back, the situation in the green zone is improving as well, but the plague and the rumors persist.

Inquisition

Name: Walter Brenner

Age: 65

Occupation: Big Game Hunter

Physical Appearance: Average height with old muscle. Lines of age a chisel into him like ancient wind scars across stone. His skin is a leathery tan from long days under strange Alien suns and weather beaten from an untold number of strange environments. He often wears a pair of gold rimmed aviation glasses. His outfit can vary depending on the evironment he is operating in but it is always first and foremost function oriented.

Weapons:

+Double Rifle: Brenner's preferred weapon is a breach loading double barreled rifle. It chambered .600 High velocity slugs and he carries a variety of ammunition for them. The weapon carries double triggers and a stock carved from a Hive Tyrant's sternum. The barrels are forged from electrum-fused adamantium with symmetrical polygonal rifling. The slugs themselves provide enough backbone to blow through the carapace of a Carnifex but the relatively short barrels and lack of any sort of scope along with the two shot capacity truly make it a sporting weapon.

+Naval Revolver: Brenner's back up weapon is a top-break Imperial Navy revolver chambered in .44 magnum. It sports a stylized, curvaceous trigger guard and is generally carried in a shoulder holster.

Equipment: Beyond his clothes, a basic comm line, and ammunition Walter carries no additional equipment. He considers things like elaborate armor or sensors to be un-sporting.

Background Walter's childhood is a memory that is only shared by him and a dusty file in the Administratum. At 16 he joined the Imperial guard. While he was an exceptional soldier he lacked the personality for an officer. He had a gift for Alien anatomy though and was put in charge of a Recon platoon. Within the regiment they were tasked with seeking out high value Alien targets and eliminating them. He did that up until he was forty.

It was then that an offer was extended to him. Walter was not an officer and was nearing a forced retirement despite his abilities. His talents and attitude had been noted by an Inquisitor though. A Lord of the Ordo Xenos named Immanuel Sidonis. Immanuel's preferred method for some creatures mirrored Walter's tastes. Despite some of the Inquisitor's missions requiring investigation and planning he preferred the thrill of the hunt...tracking and bringing down the hideous beasts of the Galaxy. The pair became fast friends and hunting partners and have been working together for the last fifteen years.

The relationship is not perfect though. Sidonis has obligations beyond hunting and stalking for sport and Walter isn’t much for thumbing through old texts. When he is not out on a hunt Walter drifts away from Sidonis's retinue, often joining up with other Ordo Xenos Inquisitors who he thinks will end up going toe to toe with some slavering beast. Hopefully one with a nice set of teeth.

INQUISITORIAL AGENT INFORMATION

Lord Sidonis and the late Inquisitor Suffolk employ a staggering amount of skilled professionals. From gunmen to logistics specialists, mechanicum officials to psykers many are employed. Due to Sidonis' position though he does not keep xenos or cultists on hand on a long term basis.

Walter's group will consist of up to nine individuals, no more than that.

TASK FORCE CARBON HQ

Task Force Carbon is the handle for four squads of Inquisitorial Storm Troopers mounted in Valkyries and a fifth group consisting of Lieutenant Yvonne Kepler and her hand picked group of specialists and bodyguards. They're at the cutting edge of securing and expanding the green zone of Teleostei and have the full authority of the Inquisition behind them.

Name: Lieutenant Yvonne Kepler

Age: 40

Occupation: Inquisitorial Storm Trooper Lieutenant

Physical Appearance: Relatively short at 5'4", especially for a Storm Trooper of any status. She has well maintained, cinnamon colored hair and is very fair skinned. She has an athletic build that is usually obscured by her uniform and armor.

Weapons:

+Gothic Pattern autopistol: A basic, ferro-framed handgun. Holds twenty .30 caliber hollowpoints and his kept on her right thigh.

+Powered Daito: This gently curved blade hangs off of the Lieutenant's left hip. It's measures an exact thirty inches with a single, highly refined cutting edge and an angular tip. The handle is a full twelve inches long and wrapped in silk. The sheath is made from vacuum-formed plastics and carries subtle Inquisitorial markings.

Equipment: Yvonne wears carapace armor and also carries a basic Auspex.

Background: Yvonne attended the Schola Progenium but unlike many of the students there she was not an orphan. Her parents enrolled her of their own will and from a young age she showed promise, especially as a leader. She tested well and showed above average skill in leading close quarters engagements as well as a slight flair for investigation. It was never enough to land her a spot as an acolyte or interrogator though. She has served well under Sidonis for the last fifteen years.

Inquisitorial Storm Trooper Player Information

Unlike the Agents or other groups the Storm Troopers are far more regimented. Their equipment is on par with that of the Cadian Kasrkin although the Command Group that accompanies Yvonne has a little more leeway.

0-1 Sanctioned Psyker
0-1 Medical Professional
0-2 Special weapon's operators (Grenade Launcher, Melta Gun, Plasma Gun, Flamer, or Sniper rifle)
0-1 Heavy weapon

While their issued equipment is directly similar to that of the Kasrkin, Storm Troopers are encouraged to modify it in whatever manner allows them to function most effectively. This might range from load bearing equipment to a preferred sidearm, blade, or a replacement to the issued Hellgun and power pack. Yvonne will be joined by no more than nine attendants.

Rogue Trader Retinue

Mr. Emerald, a known and successful Rogue Trader, employs a rainbow of professional thugs, sages, concubines, translators, and entertainers. Despite his considerable staff though he remains something of a mystery to many of them. At his right hand though is Juno, a elusive figure that he tasks with some of his more.... nefarious needs.

Name: Juno

Age: Unknown

Occupation: Blunt Instrument

Physical Appearance: Juno stands at six and a half feet tall and has a lean, panther-like build. Most obvious though is ITS skin. Juno's skin has been full replaced by a wholly encapsulating, grafted on layer of synskin. It does not seem to have any sensory organs or conventional systems... just rubbery blackness. Occasionally amber colored lights seem to swirl and fade beneath the coating suggesting that there is some sort of skeletal structure in there somewhere. Juno conceals itself with a robe made of vulcanized rubber the color of coagulated blood.

Weapons:

+Klystron Emitter: This bizarre piece of machinery appears to be of Imperial Origin. It uses an internal power coil to generate a directed stream of microwaves roughly six inches wide. The weapon is effective out to sixty feet and functions by cooking the target from the inside out. Anything crossed by the colorless beam could suffer potential burn damage.

Equipment: None

Background Juno has been at the side of Mr. Emerald for the last thirty years, following him like a shadow.

Information for Rogue Trader Characters

amuse me, no more than nine.

*******

Because of these factions and their various organizations and intentions this RP will be following three different interlocking plotlines. As such I am allowing players to control multiple characters, up to one for each faction to maximum of nine for each group. Note that I am in no way demanding that everyone play three characters or that this campaign involve twenty seven active characters. This is just to give you, the players, the option of taking part in the way that feels best to you. Whether it be Inquisitorial Subterfuge, airborne curb stomping, or acting as an accomplice to the enigmatic Mr. Emerald there's sure to be something for everyone.

Also any character from the previous Drowing for the Cure can be imported as an Inquisitorial Agent or Storm Trooper asset (depending on who they were) and any character from Gibbous can be part of the Agent group.

Previous background can be found here (http://www.warseer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=307341), there (http://www.warseer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=285687), and here (http://www.warseer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=251903)

Hi SandQueen, sorry things couldn't get sorted out on Warseer. I'll have Ella hop across from the original thread and hopefully I'll be back from walking the West Highland Way just in time for the IC kick off.

Name: Ella Seren

Team: Inquisition

Occupation: Astropath

Age: 21

Physical Description: Ella is average height, and has an honest, wedge-shaped face with a narrow chin and nose. Her face is framed by white-blonde hair, cut short so as not to interfere with the neural plugs in the back of her neck. Like most astropaths she is blind, so the way her hazel eyes don't dilate or focus when she looks at someone can take a bit of getting used to. Her skin is naturally pale, exacerbated by twelve years in the cloistered Scholastica Psykana halls on Terra.

I don't have full privileges to post attachments yet, but I've always imagined her as looking something like Lydia Kelly (http://www.e4.com/images/mb/E4/HOLLYOAKS/hollyoakslater2009/characters/lydia_reg.jpg) (yeah, my old flatmate used to watch a lot of Hollyoaks and from my occasional wandering past the TV she was the one person who stuck in my mind because she was off-the-wall psychotic).

Personality: Ella is quite reserved, spending a lot of time consulting her cards, but by astropath standards she is positively upbeat. She is incredibly dedicated, sometimes pushing herself beyond her own limits for the good of the mission. She also enjoys playing regicide, and is quite good at it.

Weapons: None, since hazy warp-sight with an effective range of about ten metres is not exactly conductive to marksmanship.

Equipment: Most relevant among her sundry personal items are a pack of Imperial Tarot cards, which she reads frequently, and a badge of office marking her as a member of the Adeptus Astra Telepathica.

Psyker Index: Ella is an iota-level telepath. She is capable of astro-telepathy, but her ability to send and receive when not "plugged in" to a telepathic array is somewhat reduced (maybe half a million km maximum range). She can read the Imperial Tarot well enough, and she also knows how to auto-séance to a limited degree.

Background: Born on the hive world of Sancta Heroica into a family of manufactorum workers, Ella was picked up during one of the standard psyker screenings (read: witch hunts) prior to a scheduled visit by the inquisition’s black ships. She was considered malleable enough to be useful and so was spared the sacrifice of the golden throne, but she lacked the strength necessary to resist the perils of the warp alone. Not fulfilling the criteria for a primaris psyker, she was instead trained as an astropath, her studies culminating in the ritual of soul-binding that steeled her mind against possession, but cost her her sight.

Now a full astropath, Ella was originally assigned to the shrine world of Aurelias Prime. However the ship transporting her there, the Greed’s Reward, suffered a Gellar field malfunction part way into the journey and had to make an emergency transition in the middle of deep space. Shortly after, the ship came under attack from pirates. Ella’s handler, a commissar named Schenke, set to rallying the defenders with the help of several others, commissioning Ella to try and predict the pirates’ plans. In addition, mostly on her own initiative, Ella attempted to divine the reason behind the suspiciously well-timed pirate attack, pushing her already strained psychic powers to the limit. Through repeated Tarot readings she eventually learned that the ship’s captain, together with the leading tech magos, had arranged the attack as cover for them to abscond with Imperial property (a xenos artefact) from the cargo hold, leaving the rest of the ship for their pirate allies to plunder.

Armed with this information, and with the help of an inquisitor lord Derivas who had been working under cover to try and discover the same, they were able to foil the magos’ plan and escape the ship’s destruction. Ella’s dedication to duty under extreme pressure earned her a recommendation from both her commissar handler and the attention of Lord Derivas. Six months later, she has found herself seconded to inquisition service. Her first mission, a recovery op on captured research station Epsilon 27, was a disaster; the inquisitor leading her team was killed, and the rescue of a broken Sororitas palatine their only consolation. Ella and the rest of her team were recalled by inquisitor lord Sidonis, and Ella has spent the journey helping the others interview the palatine, as well as auto-séancing her personal items and repeatedly reading the Tarot to try and learn more about the nature and motives of the mysterious attackers.

I would like to be in as a member of Inquisitor Sidonis' retinue and also a former criminal of some repute(Such pasts are merely ignored if one is acting in the name of the Emperor), so I was thinking he could cycle between the Inquisitor and Rogue Traders circles without too much notice, acting for the inquisitors.

Would such a character be alright with you?

While I'm not a die-hard 40k fan, I have read the Eisenhorn Trilogy, so I know well enough the practices of the inquisition.

Would such a character be alright with you?

No. I'm afraid not. But you could have TWO SEPARATE CHARACTERS lol.

The thing is that Brenner, Yvonne, and Emerald are all in different part of the city and working towards different goals. Travelling between to two would take HOURS and you'd be going though numerous warzones and shootouts.

But I've structured this so that it will utilize THREE simultaneous plot lines and players may have one character in each.

Okay, I'll just nix the part concerning him associating with the traders, unless some twist happens to bring both groups together, in which case he'll be useful. I'll have a preliminary sheet up as quick as I can.

Lovely.

And for your reference and that of anyone else if you want to have multiple characters you're more than welcome to do it. But no one can have more than one per faction.

Name: Jansen Savs

Age: 34

Occupation: Former Pilot, Former Arbites Verispex(Investigator), Turned Criminal, Turned Inquisitorial Agent

Physical Appearance: Standing at an imposing 6'7", with a wild mane of black hair and intense white-blue eyes, Jansen strikes a threatening figure, not helped by several scars across his face and torso, mostly disks of scar tissue formed around self-treated gunshot-wounds. He is slim but muscular, and darkly tanned by the bright suns of his native Glavia.

Clothing-wise, Jansen goes nowhere without wearing a long, dark-brown leather duster with a mess of rigid and impact-resistant carbon fibers sewn into this inside. It has dozens of hidden pockets and several tools and three knives sewn into the weave.

Under it, he wears a dark grey combat jumpsuit with no markings of insignia besides the simple inquisitorial emblem pinned to the collar. Over this jumsuit are wreathed the mess of straps and harnesses securing his weapons, ammunition, and supply pouches.

Weapons:

+Ten-Gauge Autoshotgun (http://www.freewebs.com/weapontry/usas12b.jpg): A large, heavy, and unwieldy weapon, the autoshotgun is capable of chambering a range of shells from Heavy-duty slugs to shredding flechette rounds and good-old-fashioned buckshot. The weapon is usually slung casually over his shoulder, and accompanied by a large shoulderbag to hold it's ammunition, usually six 20-shell magazines of various ammunition types and two 30-round drums, one buckshot, the other Flechette.

+Arbites Autopistol (http://www.hunt101.com/data/500/Mini-Uzi.JPG): Lightweight automatic handgun, fitted with a forgrip and untilizing fifty-round magazines, this weapon was quite familiar with Jansen during his days as an Arbites Chastener and continued to be his staple through his criminal career. Usually, it is only carried when the Autoshotgun is too unconventional to be wielded, though if a gunfight is expected, he'll just keep it holstered at his side under his coat.

+.454 Mateba Autorevolver (http://i695.photobucket.com/albums/vv314/1911canebrake/other%20guns/Mateba454casull-1.jpg): A unique design personally crafted by a former Mechanicus Sage, it is a semi-automatic revolver that chambers seven rounds of heavy-bore .454 Caliber ammunition. It is usually kept holstered angled diagonally across the small of his back, under his coat.

+Compact .454 Autorevolver (http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_abaJ0xbRju4/SwbOK89KP6I/AAAAAAAACE4/yChkOnzXE6I/s400/Chiappa+Rhino+Revolver-1a.jpg):Usually worn in an ankle of side holdster, underneath his clothing, this fully-miniturized version of Jansen's larger Mateba serves as his backup weapon, and is usually loaded with lower-velocity ammunition to reduce recoil, though still lethal enough to soft targets. It holds five rounds.

Equipment: Besides his weapons and ammunition, he carries a few knives, several tools for bypassing security systems, various demolition gear such and blasting caps and bricks of malleable plastic explosive, and mechanical repair tools.

Like most entrants to the advanced piloting schools of Glavia, Jansen has metal inserts and micro-grafts in his hands that allow him to interface directly with most vehicles for a direct diagnostic and more attentive control.

+The Bliskiriner: The customized Gun-Cutter Jansen purchased, black market, for use in the service of Inquisitor Sidonis. It started out as a sleek, military-kitted Avril-Class (http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y43/PhantomVX4/Shuttleattackcopy.jpg) Cutter. He has expanded upon that by up-sizing and armoring the hull and compartmentalizing the passenger bay, tuning the engines up to maximum efficiency, updated the weapons systems to include both Heavy-Lasguns and Rotating Autocannons, and a few nasty, very very custom surprises, and topping it all off with Partial-Personality AI, full Astropath uplink and arrays, and lastly a sharp yellow-gold paint-job, with sliding plates to reveal or cover the inquisitorial seal displayed on both sides of the passenger area.

To give a sense of scale, the passenger compartment is split into three seperate rooms, the first being a conference/recreation room with holodisplays and digital library, with room to seat six comfortably, that includes fold out double-stacked bunks for six if needed. Likewise, the chairs and holotable are both recessed into the floor compartments until deployed.

The second compartment, behind the first is a general quarters, with eight bunks, four on each side, and a small bathroom in the fore corner. The room is designed for little more than sleeping and personal affects storage, with compartments for each bunk.

The rear is the Astropath's Suite, belonging solely to Ella(Or whatever other astropath is currently in Sidonis' employ, and is prepped for Autoseance and etched with the proper securing glyphs to do so safely, along with a sleeping recess, and astropath up-links. This area also contains, mostly recessed into the walls and floor compartments, a limited medical suite capable of keeping a single individual on life-support.

Background: Born on the bright, tropical island world of Glavia, Jansen was screened in the school system to possess the necessary reflexes and intelligence factors to gain entrance into one of the Glavian Piloting Academies, the best in the Imperium. Though he flew quite well, due to personality factors and a degree of recklessness, Jansen failed in his second year of flight training. He then enlisted with the Arbites, first as a local keeper of peace, and later promoted to Investigator and made member of a Verispex team.

In his second investigation, Jansen was brought into contact with an underworld crime lord and became a 'Dirty Cop' of sorts, was finally outed tampering with evidence logs and incarcerated to be tried at an indeterminate point. Two days after his arrest, him, and several other criminals were rescued in a prison break and he was quickly removed form Glavia on an unregistered Rogue Trader vessel. He jumped from world to world, mostly running cargo past blockades and smuggling individuals off(or on) to worlds in a heavily modified Gun-Cutter.

His skills soon caught the attention of the underworld circles of power, and he spent several years acting as a full-time employee. All-in-one bodyguard, personal pilot, and muscle man for the highest bidder, giving him a taste of every pleasure money and power could offer.

This all went well until two years ago, when he was intercepted by an inquisitor searching for the notable Chaos-cult financier and was held for interrogation. Such was done for several weeks, but due to heavy mind-stapling and a natural resistant will, not even psychic torture could cause him to talk. He would have died in that room if it weren't' for Inquisitor Sidonis, who saw potential in him and knew that Jansen was no chaos worshiper from his manner and what could be gleaned from his thoughts.

Sidonis offered him a deal. If Jansen talked, he would be afforded full Medicae treatment for the wounds he had sustained under torture and would be given employment(at first under heavy watch) under Sidonis' retinue as a pilot. Later he became trusted and his employment expanded to include assistance in investigation and to serve as a general specialist, due to both his Criminal and Arbites experience.

I like it, especially the bit about his recruitment which matches the Sidonis character stride for stride.

Also bonus points for the Chiappa Rhino despite the caliber alteration, I've been enjoying a 6" model in .357 for some time now. Very comfortable to shoot.

Well there's still plenty of slots on all fronts ripe for the taking.

I decided I may as well have it match his main sidearm(the even rarer Mateba Autorevolver) in caliber. Besides, its the 41'st century, so I fugure that they have alloys capable of handling .454 in that size of frame by then.

I'm just a big fan of .454 myself, my uncle owns a Taurus Raging Bull, and I probably shoot the thing more than he does.

I'm just a big fan of .454 myself, my uncle owns a Taurus Raging Bull, and I probably shoot the thing more than he does.

I carried a Raging bull towards the last phase of my pregnancy. I was too puffed up to maintain any kind of stances and my chest was so swollen to make locking in a good two handed grip nearly impossible. So I just went with something that could work in one or two shots

I'm about to add an item of not concerning the customized Gun-Cutter that Jansen flies when he's on inquisitorial business. It's a pretty fuckin' bad-ass little ship.

Also, I believe you mean 'Shots'. And I can't imagine most people being apt to rob a pregnant woman open carrying a TRB under any circumstances.

Could you hold off on that? I'll PM you some stuff concerning it in a little bit. I need to lay down for a bit.

Also, I believe you mean 'Shots'. And I can't imagine most people being apt to rob a pregnant woman open carrying a TRB under any circumstances.

whoops.

I don't normally open carry and I'm very strict and professional about concealment. But together my girls weighed seventeen pounds. I could walk maybe thirty feet without extreme pain going through my back and hips. Needless to say "Professional" was not a word in my vocabulary at that point.

Sorry, I already have the information up, under its own little tag, The Bliskiriner(The name of the cutter)

I'll leave it up for now and you can veto or have me change it or scrap it altogether as you wish.

Alright. I don't expect the vessel yo play a huge part in the RP, other than acting as temporary living quarters and transportation if its required...or who knows, the RP could catch lighting in a bottle and we could take off for a sequel where transportation would be much more important.

I was borrowing form the Eisenhorn Trilogy for the idea of it, and figured why not have it in case its needed.

While amusing I'd like to see your character write ups all the same. Not just for me but for the sake of the other players. Good to keep everyone on the same page... at least at first glance.

I'll be able to do that when we go home on wednesday to my desktop, but til then I'm sporadically posting between feedings and sleep on a notebook.

Inquisition

Name: Captain (ret.) Alicia Katherine “Alley Cat” Tarran

Age: 34

Role: General combat, versatility, asymmetric warfare

Personality: Early reports show Captain Tarran as a well-balanced, cheery, compassionate person who held strong beliefs on the subject of justice and the Emperor, who managed to repress her distaste for killing in combat with the knowledge that her victims had and would do worse. According to her squad leader, “Alley’s a cold-blooded bitch in combat, but she comes apart after the firefight”, a way of coping with this cognitive dissonance. However, the repeated traumas she has been through have somewhat affected her mental state, making her grimmer, more comfortable with her kills and slowly replacing “justice” with “vengeance”, a mindset that needs no proof or proportionality.

Appearance: Alicia is a slender woman who never truly grew into adult curves, with a toned and powerful physique that comes from a mix of genetic capability and years of physical conditioning that would exhaust the hardiest of humans. Her fine-boned and gaunt face reflects both her younger, slightly frivolous personality and the hardships she has lasted through. Her jade-green eyes shine with a powerful intensity, matching with the slightly glowing augmentation processors projecting marginally from under her skin on her right hand, temple and behind her ear.

Equipment:
Nebula Soldier Stage I: Augmentation Net: The massive resources invested in the Nebula Soldier project by Melry Nibenay enabled the importation and cooperation of high-ranking Magi Biologis and tech-magi of the Cult of the Micro-Omnissiah on distant Glavia, who worked together to create this, the first (and by far most complex) of the three stages of the Nebula Soldier project. The augmentation net produced from their joint effort consists of three processors inserted just under the skin in the locales the temple, right hand and behind the ear, each of which have a set function but each can also take over one other’s duties at an efficiency loss. On her right hand is the receptor that governs her connection to her rifle, essentially making it a part of her body. This allows the cogitators in the augmetics to compensate for wind, bullet drop, humidity and a number of other factors, as well as incorporate third-party data into firing solutions. On her right temple is her armour processor, which takes mental impulses and converts them into instructions for her armour, allowing her to interface with it similarly to how the Astartes’ Black Carapace works. This allows fluid, organic armour motion as well as sending sensory feedback from the armour’s surfaces directly to be interpreted by her brain. This processor is also able to install neural blocks to deaden pain responses that would be crippling. Additionally, this processor governs her internal pharmacopoeia, which contains a number of (often restricted) stimulants and medical aids including a specialized drug cocktail that slows the user’s perception of time. The third processor, located behind her left ear is her tactical and sensory processor, which takes all sensor information from any and all data sources and converts them into a whole new set of senses that the brain can easily interpret. This also contains Alicia’s personal tactical net with designated IFF system, as well as a free flow multi-frequency miniaturized comm unit. This processor can extend the effective neural network of the augmentation into an outside computer system, allowing the Nebula Soldier to neurally control computer systems. The comprehensive proofing of the system also bolsters the user’s neural stability, rendering them immune to most non-lethal weaponry. The most extraordinary capabilities of this augmentation are the pre-installed escape and evasion programs: if she is rendered unconscious and any attempt is made to examine her augmentations or interrogate her, the augmentation processors will actually take control of her body and fight their way out without her conscious thought.
Nebula Soldier Stage II: Multipurpose Stealth/Combat Armour: The creators of this advanced armour started with standard Elysian-pattern Storm Trooper carapace armour and worked from there, constructing it out of horrifically expensive advanced metal-ceramic composite matrices backed by titanium carbide and giving it its own dedicated power source. They included an integrated complex heat dissipation (and heat signature-hiding) system, grav chute and surfaces to reduce radar signature, as well as adding myomer bundles to augment muscle power in certain areas. The visor is built to enhance the Nebula Soldier’s already exceptional optics even further, allowing for night vision and multiple types of radiation imaging. The breastplate is set on a set of shock absorbers to negate the massive recoil of the system’s main weapon, and the whole armour is face-hardened and covered with a smart reactive chameleon screen. The ammunition for the Modular Combat Rifle is held in an integral ammunition hopper and is fed out through a belt system.
Nebula Soldier Stage III: Modular Combat Rifle: (http://images.wikia.com/crysis/images/2/2f/M2014_Gauss.jpg) This final piece of the Nebula Soldier system consists of a powerful 20mm belt-fed combat rifle. There is no safety on this weapon, or a setting other than “fully automatic”, the makers instead trusting the wielder of this weapon to regulate their fire patterns. It is modular in the sense that the upper receiver, barrel, sighting system and underslung attachment are designed to be able to be switched out at a moment’s notice, allowing a single trooper to change the weapon’s role from general combat rifle to marksman rifle to SAW in seconds. The general configuration works on a rotating bolt system with a barrel length of 20 inches, a variable-magnification telescopic sight and an underslung 60mm grenade launcher. The various forms of ammunition available for use include HEIAP, HEAT, API and 7mm hypervelocity saboted tungsten penetrators. However, these specialized rounds are scarce in the Inquisition armoury and Alicia has had to make do with the more standard loadings of the caliber.
CHK Automatic Pistol (http://images4.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20090226063048/metalgear/images/6/69/MK23_SOCOM.jpg): While it is intended that a Corps member never need to use it, every one is issued a standard service sidearm. This particular one is a short recoil DA/SA semi-automatic pistol chambered for a 11mm high-velocity cartridge held in a twelve-round magazine. On the under barrel rail hangs a LAM set for a very specific frequency of ultraviolet light, one that shows up exceptionally well on Nebula helmet scanners and in fact penetrates through barriers to a similar degree as the round itself.
Combat Blade: A fixed-blade triangular 14-inch combat knife that Alley has retained since her service with the Storm Troopers. The peculiarity is that its hilt actually contains a high-yield capacitor that is charged by the armour’s generators when not in use. When toggled on, the capacitor runs a power field generator that sheaths the blade in energy, and one toggle more increases the length of the cleaver-shaped field to 30 inches. The power of the field is such that it can actually be used to exert force, a great asset with the enhanced strength of the Corps’ combat armour. The weapon has been tested on armour of up to APC toughness.

History: Alicia was raised by a small, well-off family on the planet of Marioch in the Adrantis Nebula subsector. With little memory of her childhood, she was with her family just until the age of five, when she was carted off to a local Schola Progenium. Her mental stability, acuity and agility were above average and when paired with exceptional physical scores it was decided that she would be placed in the Storm Trooper training program once she came of age. Upon reaching majority at 18, she underwent basic training with an eagerness that astounded many of the presiding officers, even remarking that the grueling training was “fun” at one point. She was then drafted into the 517th Storm Trooper Regiment, which saw action versus a force of Chaos cultists supported by traitor Guardsmen on the frontier world of Marioch. Her AARs spoke of excellent marksmanship, level-headedness and a certain glee of combat that she did not admit to, and her file came under the notice of higher powers. After six years of training and near-constant assignment to the hardest combat zones in the subsector, she made it to the rank of Staff Sergeant. At this point in her career she was privately approached by an agent of the subsector governor to be inducted into a special unit of the governor’s personal forces, the Nebula Corps. Unknown to most, the Nebula Corps were truly a special forces sponsored by a powerful and megalomaniacal Rogue Trader who controlled the subsector through his puppet governor: one Melry Nibenay. Intending to break away from the Imperium, he realized that his personal state would not have the resources of the Adeptus Astartes and in true rogue trader fashion he decided to solve the problem by throwing a stupendous amount of money and resources at it. It was after a heavy battery of highly demanding tests that she was implanted with the subcutaneous triple-processor augmentation, pharmacopoeia and sensory boosters that formed the basis of the Nebula Soldier system. It was noticed that her DNA signature did not correspond to any member of her family, but this was dismissed as it did not match any available sources. From then on it was months of brutal training (including simulated high-atmosphere drops, survival exeercises and training in high gravity) to meet the incredible standards of Nibenay’s program. She graduated from NSTC, was allowed to retain her E-6 rank and was given command of an 18-soldier squad just in time for her first operation. After eighteen months of growing accustomed to her squad and “wing” (as her combat pair was called), a crisis rocked the subsector: a group of “renegades” had kidnapped a number of high-ranking governmental officials including the governor’s own son from the ship they were taking to a rendezvous. They had nearly gotten away with their captives but were forced to land on the planet of Siculi and attempted to barter with their captives for escape. Unknown to most and suppressed by those who knew, the instigator of this action was in fact a rogue Inquisitor intent on taking down Nibenay’s control of the subsector. His colonel inside the Governor’s command structure gave the Corps false information, stating they were facing about four hundred untrained terrorists with civilian weapons when in fact the enemy consisted of a full-strength battalion of dug-in Guardsmen armed with heavy weapons and some carapace suits. They covert-dropped from low orbit with an over-strength company of almost 300 soldiers into emplaced defenses and air superiority prepared for them, knowing exactly where they were coming and lost two hundred combatants in the first ten minutes of the drop including all of the command staff above E-8 rank. They carved out a zone for themselves, regrouped on the dead bodies of their enemies and carved their way through well-on five hundred Guardsmen on their way to the objective. Alicia found herself being promoted into dead men’s boots due to the constant attrition casualties the company was taking, but with less than forty soldiers left they assaulted the enemy positions near the building where the hostages were being held, knocking a hole in the air defenses and allowing a hot-drop of Guardsmen to relieve the battered survivors of Nebula Corps C Company, now numbering eleven soldiers. As the highest-ranking survivor, Alicia was awarded a number of medals pertaining to the event (the governor made efforts to award the Obscurus Honorifica, but this was denied) and her field promotion was retained, raising her to the rank of Master Sergeant. Five years and a promotion finally to Captain passed until the Inquisitor made a resurgence, this time with several corps of Imperial troops appropriated from various fronts. Spinning it as a “heretic uprising”, the government assigned the rebuilt C Company to decapitate the assault. Dropping into the heart of the enemy’s defense, the soldiers of the Nebula Corps hammered their way through the command bunker, coming face-to-face with the inquisitor himself and executing him In Nomine Imperator. With his dying breath he told Alicia of the traitor in their ranks, and when she returned she confronted the intelligence colonel with her suspicion. He panicked and drew on her, and she shattered his body with a blind fury that left him just barely alive after his guards pulled her off him. The cover-ups began, and Alicia was threatened with a court-martial if she went public with the truth as they wanted to use the colonel to probe for security weaknesses in their net. She swore on her oath to the governor that she would stay quiet, but she felt betrayed by her superiors and resigned her commission. She went into a quiet retirement with her family on Marioch, but fate was not to leave her there. After five years, Nibenay was ready to move forward with his plan to cause secession from the Imperium, a plan that required cooperation with the powers of Chaos. His machinations caused a planet-wide attack on Marioch, which resulted in her family being massacred by a 33-man death squad, nine of who were killed by her armed family and the other twenty-four dead by her hunting rifle. Still, she took horrible injuries in the process and nearly died but for the intervention of the daemonic entity that the rogue trader betrayed, who decided to use her as a tool for revenge. Only a timely intervention by her former squadmate and a hasty exorcism stopped her from killing billions of people just to kill her former master. While she recuperated, the Inquisition took her into its tender care and ran a battery of tests designed to see if any Chaos taint remained. When none was found, she was remanded to Inquisitor Immanuel Sidonis’ retinue on a probationary basis.
Since then, she has been part of Sidonis' most recent operation on the planet of Teleostei.

So, Alley's back. Got two more on the way, just need to get writing.

INQUISITION

Name: Skip

Occupation: Sniper/Tunnel Rat

Age: 36

Physical Description: Short, stocky and hairy feet. There is no mistaking Skip as a Ratling. Often wearing a bandana on his head to cover his early balding, he proudly wears his sideburns in a long unkempt manner, having earned him the nickname “Little Wolf” many years back. Skip is rarely seen without his dark denim jacket and black cargo pants; tough he prone to forego wearing his boots.

Equipment:
-Flak vest
- Lock Picks
- Various Low Level Lights
- Water Flask
- Micro-bead

Weapons:
-Personalized LongLas Rifle with scope
-Combat Knife

Background: Shunned as an abhuman everywhere he goes, Skip has become embittered with those around him. Still, he has come to accept his role in holding the Imperium of Man together. Born in the midst of war, quite literally, during the Battle of Hisaite, Skip has a strong faith in the God-Emperor.

Skip grew up in the Guard, it is all he knows. He has seen both of his parents die, and lost more friends than he cares to remember. Trained as a sniper like his parents, he has proven he can shot, once taking down a renegade field commander giving his regiment the much needed advantage to win the engagement they had found stalling. After the death of his mother Skip started to withdraw from those around him and took on the most dangerous missions he could volunteer for. As a result, he has become quite skilled in advanced scouting working in tight places deep in the darkness.

Getting tired of dealing with Skip’s gruff attitude, recently breaking the kneecaps of two recruits that didn’t know when to shut up after having too much to drink one night, Skip’s commanding officer recommended him for service to the next Inquisitor looking for anyone with Skip’s skill set.

ROGUE TRADER RETINUE

Name: Mal’lyk Sherlief aka Mal

Race: Eldar

Occupation: Xeno Archeologist

Age: 236 Terran Standard years

Physical Description: Like Eldar, Mal’lyk is tall, muscular and lean. Mal’lyk is usually seen wearing dark colored robes in shades of red, gray and black; though if combat is foreseen, he will shed his robes for his armor, which has raised some eyebrows, as it does not match up with stereotypical Eldar armor.

Equipment/Weapons:
-Robes
-Eldar armor
- Shuriken Pistol
- Splinter Rifle
- Pair of Eldar Combat Knives

Background: Mal’lyk has spent more years than he cares to count on the field of battle. He has encountered a wide variety of races that the universe has to offer, including tyranids, orks and humans. Eventually he tired of the straight up fights and started to drift in to the shadows. It was during these years that he started to hunt down lost relics of the fallen Eldar Empire. It was on one such hunt that he encountered Mr. Emerald. Each was looking for something special, and neither wanted witnesses. However Mr. Emerald proved that he was not one to pass up an opportunity that he could benefit from. While not tipping his hand in having a tactical advantage of hidden numbers, Mr. Emerald was able to convince Mal’lyk that working together was better than dying. As it turned out, they were looking for different items on the long forgotten world where fate paired them up. While Mr. Emerald was able to find what he was looking for, Mal’lyk was unable to find the artifact he was after. This did not deter him though, instead he too saw it as an opportunity, to be able to sail the void in the guise of a lackey to this Mr. Emerald and continue his search. In return he would work for Mr. Emerald, the hunts were fun, and he never lacked for excitement.

Personality: Mal’lyk is both withdrawn and extremely social. When he is amongst the crew he is quick to join in the reverie. Yet when it is time to get down to business or visitors are amongst the crew he is quick to fall in to the shadows to conceal his presence. He is friendly with all he meets, but he knows that anyone who thinks this goes more than surface deep is only fooling themselves.

Before I really put a lot of effort into a profile, what are the imitations within the factions we can choose from. I know they must be allied with the emperor, would I be able to play a character from the Sisters of Battle, Adepta Sororiatas? Or are you looking for more Imperial Guard type characters?

I hope SandQueen won't blow me away across half a continent with her absurdly large arsenal of weapons for the presumption of answering for her, but as far as I've seen:

For the Inquisitorial faction, there's a lot of leeway. No xenos or mutants and no Space Marines, but apart from that as long as you have a good reason for them to be working with the Inquisition (press-ganged due to useful talents is a common one) they seem to be good.

For the ISTs, it's a bit more constrained. Storm Troopers are obviously in, and so would most in the Imperial armed forces. The above restrictions are likely still in effect as they apply to all of Sidonis' people. Non-military personnel may work if they're as nails-tough and fit to chew glass as these guys are, and are likely to get along.

For the Rogue Trader: in theory, anything goes. However, Emerald is more on the side of "legitimate businessman", so anything with the combination of "can't keep his head down" and "said head is likely to be blasted by the Inquisition on sight" is gonna be sketchy. By that I mean Sorcerers, Traitor Marines and the like.

I'm not going to go so far as to make individual calls for SQ, as I've stuck my neck out far enough already.

Team Brenner

Name: Darl Orla

Rank: Moritat Priestess

Age: 32

Physical Description: Darl is tall and broad shouldered for a woman, with a tough athletic build and a harsh, unforgiving set to her features thanks to her feral world heritage. While once beautiful in a primal way, years of combat and harsh conditions have weathered her features somewhat. She still keeps her raven black hair long and in a neat pony tail, and dresses impeccably in the high robes of a cultist of the emperor, though she can 'dress to impress' when required, affecting the look of a high society dame. Her main distinguishing mark is her set of tattoos. Starting with a claw over her left shoulder, the tattoo is of a stylised eagle wing. Each feather has been added one at a time, each one to commemerate a kill in combat. The wing now stretches down her back, along her right arm and down her legs . . .

Personality: Darl is quiet when needed, and forceful when required. Devoted to her faith and to the art of bladed death, she is respectful of her superiors and ruthless with her subordinates. She is also confident to a fault: no one has bested her with a blade except a higher ranked Moritat, and only then very rarely. She used to possess a burning hatred of the witch, but years of working with the Inquisition has tempered that to a controllable disdain. She does not like the psyker, but understands that the Imperium needs them to survive.

Weapons:

2 handed sabre: This beautiful blade is forged from the hard and dense metals found in the mountains of Regis V, Darls homeworld. Fully five feet long, slightly curved and single edged, its edge is molecule thin and can shear through carapace with little difficulty. It was recently augmented with a discreet powerfield generator in its two handed grip that Darl can activate by depressing a hidden switch. When activated, sheathed in a hazy blue energy field, the weapon can cut astartes plate with little difficulty. In Darls skilled hands, it can do considerably more.

Many many knives: Darl has six stilletos concealed in her corset, two daggers in her boots, a pair of throwing knives in her ornate bracers, and her decorative earings can also be used as small cutting blades. Her heels can also be used as stabbing implements. She has also killed 3 people with her fingernails, 2 with a medicae scalpel, 6 with a butterknife (not a day she likes to remember) atleast 7 with a shovel (more if you count zombies) and one with a data disc she improvised into a throwing weapon.

Misericord pattern magnetic impellor: The moritat have a religous requirement to only use weapons with a cutting edge, to draw the blood for which they are renowned. This makes ranged weapons a problem, but Darl has found a high tech solution. The magnetic impellor. Essentially a compact railgun that fires mono edged razor darts, it is whisper quiet, accurate and slow firing, making it a passable sniper weapon.

Equipment:
Hardened stealth body glove, with reinforced parrying bracers on forearms and similar protection on the shins. Darl generally prefers to get out of the way of bullets, however, as her limited protection doesn't cut it against anything heavier than an autopistol and offers only limited protection from even light energy weapons. She lost a leg to a heavy stubber on a mission, and the lesson sunk in. While the leg was replaced in time, she still remembers the humbling and enlightening revelation of watching it spin away in an arc of blood. . .

Stun, smoke, blind grenades. For tactical advantage. Grenades that do damage, as far as she's concerned, are cheating.

A variety of tools for breaking and entering including a spool of memory wire, a set of lockpicks, a compact grapple.

Several changes of clothes to suit the occasion, complete with all the makeup and shoes to match.

Task force Carbon:

Name: Kally Sonder

Age: 37

Occupation: Psyker countermeasure/ frontline investigator

Personality: The happy, go-lucky, don’t give a frak about you Kally that took the Pembroke case is five years dead. The woman hauled out of the rubble by a Sons of Plutarch terminator squad for teleport extraction had seen too much, been exposed to too much horror, to simply be allowed to leave Inquisitorial custody. She is now a calm, collected, and efficient soldier, with the attitude of someone who is quietly waiting for something she knows is coming. She still jokes occasionally, and still finds cause to smile, but her smile is brittle and her laughter strained. Whether she’s waiting for the bad luck she dodged in Makita hive to catch up with her, or one final confrontation with Lucius Pembroke, no one is sure. After all, no one can read her mind.

Appearance: Kally is still an athletic 5ft 6 inches with a hivers palour, with dark brown eyes. She no longer bothers to dye her hair, instead over the past few years it has grown out into its natural sandy colour, and she wears it long. She has a scar running round her left eye too her cheek from a glancing sword blow, and a few more on her body that aren't readily visible. The deepest scars are undoubtedly in her mind, however.

Powers: Kally as a psychic blank is immune to all psychic powers aimed directly at her. For example, a psyker could not telekinetically crush her, but he could telekinetically throw a crate at her. With access to Inquisitorial training techniques and a device known as a amplification harness, she can focus her ability into a will draining effect that can paralyse psykers in fear and send normal men running scared. The harness also replaces her collar, allowing her to use it to reflexively dampen her powers in pleasant company. Since her experiences in Hive Makita (and possibly because of her experiences in Hive Makita) her psychic blank abilities have strengthened considerably. While not as dangerous as a Culexus Assassin with an animus speculum, she is still regarded by most psykers in Sidonis employ as less a soulless abomination, more a walking anti psyker apocalypse.

Equipment:
Note: all of Kallys previous load out was destroyed in the Makita incident. Anything not lost was deemed ‘contaminated’ and following inquisitorial protocol 117/Delta, was confiscated for investigation and destruction.

+ Scourge Pattern Boltgun: a heavily modified Boltgun with a 3 clip fire selector, scope, and integral retractable bayonet. Its generally loaded with stalker sniper rounds (low velocity penetrators designed for quiet firing) hellfire rounds and psycannon rounds. A heavy, nasty, maintenance intensive brute of a weapon, the only reason Kally carries it is its raw stopping power, excellent accuracy over long distances and formidable profile: few people want to mess with someone carrying one of these.

+ Reinforced Military body glove. Kallys old dependable flak has been ditched in favour of a composite mil-spec suit generally issued to Storm troopers and similar specialists travelling light. The rubberised mesh weave is good for keeping out light arms and impacts, and is reinforced with light carapace plates over the chest, abdomen, shins, thighs, and upper and lower arms. A folded hood can be deployed for additional protection, but Kally generally doesn’t bother. The main benefit with this suit is that with the plates stripped out, the suit becomes light enough to be worn under appropriate civilian clothes. Generally, Kally stomps around with this suit and an overcoat, rounded out with a reinforced, wide brimmed hat.

+ Lathe blade inscribed with hexagrammic wards. The Lathes of the Calixis sector are renowned for the strange metals and alloys that can be produced with the right gravitational conditions, and the Lathe blades are one example of this. Stronger than adamantium, light as tempered steel, and with an edge that can shear through storm trooper carapace plates, the other benefit is that the blade passes as an ordinary blade to cursory inspection and auspex scan. This long (36 inches from tip to hilt), single straight edged sabre is inscribed with hexagrammic wards designed to punish the unholy and the unnatural. Its elaborate basket guard also hides a low grade shock generator, designed to stun with a good punch, using the guard as an improvised knuckle duster. Kally will often use this blade paired with a pistol in the off hand.

+Two paired ‘steel burner’ laspistols, two cadian short combat knives. If Kally learnt anything in her time running with the dross hounds, its that fancy weapons break, ammo runs out, and sometimes you don’t want to turn the target into exploded pieces. Steel burners are heavy, reliable laspistols that get less shots per standard charge pack, but each shot has improved hitting power and more importantly, a small amount of penetration power. The two cadian knives have triangle tips, blackened blades and are made from composite ceramics. Not exactly ‘straight silver’, but good back up weapons that are difficult to detect when hidden in a boot sheath.

Kally has been assigned to Task force Carbon as an 'advisor', where her depth of experience in small unit urban conflict, anti psyker operations and investigative procedure is hoped to be invaluable.

I don't know. Looking at how this Cast is turning out, it may be better to do a more concentrated RP just about the Inquisitorial group and make the rest NPC's/People we run into along the way.

Like, If we get 6 Iquisitors and 1 Soldier, we could just have that soldier to be unlucky enough to get saved by the inquisition guys. Since they can't let him go to blow their cover, they would probably just make him a de-facto Agent and drag him along.

Anything wrong with me wanting to be an Ork? They're one of the most destructive forces in the known universe, one lone Ork on a planet can result in there being millions of them within a year. That and they're the only race that can use their weapons, since they don't physically work. They are pure awesome!

Well, once Azazeal and I get on making other characters we should have more of a group for each.:dominate: Plus, I've bugged Dakkagor and Felwether to head on over here as well; they'll likely bring Kally and Darl, and Vincent and Damyn plus possible Emerald characters with them. Ixajin just registered, so he might be bringing Skip and a couple others with him. I don't know whether Bradford or Cleal are coming, as they were only here for Drowning. Chaplain is up in the air too. Might end up bugging them to see if they'll head over here.

Before I really put a lot of effort into a profile, what are the imitations within the factions we can choose from. I know they must be allied with the emperor, would I be able to play a character from the Sisters of Battle, Adepta Sororiatas? Or are you looking for more Imperial Guard type characters?

Sidonis' doesn't maintain agents so much as he employs "assets". Not all of the people that he keeps around (and there's hundreds of them) are the smooth talking, professional representatives of the God Emperor. Some are more.... aggressive. Take Brenner for example. He's not a detective or an investigator... he's a big game hunter with a serious Gran Torino complex.

I would be fine with you playing a dyed in the wool Sister of Battle if you wanted. The sort that starts her day with prayer and immolating heretics. Alternatively you could play a femme fatale, a sister that understands the subtlety of her new career. It's entirely up to you.... as long as you give thanks to the emperor at least once a week and aren't an alien you're generally accepted.

I'm not going to go so far as to make individual calls for SQ, as I've stuck my neck out far enough already.

you know me too well

Like, If we get 6 Iquisitors and 1 Soldier, we could just have that soldier to be unlucky enough to get saved by the inquisition guys. Since they can't let him go to blow their cover, they would probably just make him a de-facto Agent and drag him along.

who knows, but that's why I'm openly giving people the option of multiple characters. Hopefully it'll provide a reasonable number of bodies for each faction.

Just have to ask; If I wanted to join Mr. Emerald and his Rogue traders, would it be possible to join as Flash Git? If I'm able to play as an Ork I might actually join.

MAYBE....maybe... it would have to be a rather intelligent ork to say the least (oxymoron, I know). But Emerald doesn't employ many "blunt instruments" and those that he does keep around at least can pretend to be human. Seven feet tall, green, and wielding a sharpened car door makes it hard to "blend"

However if he were the rare flash git that's closer to Fallout 3's Fawkes than an olive complected Rambo then I'd allow it.

Chiara's not coming, and Culsandar got inexplicably banned when he registered here. Those are two definite no-goes.

I don't believe Culsander is banned anymore. It seems to have been a minor misunderstanding with his account, no big deal

I could make him a Mekboy or a Weirdboy, since they are usually pretty smart compared to most other Orks, who's been run out of his clan for some reason, he's now working for Mr. Emerald and provide his specialities in return for something he finds valuable... Or something like that. He could also be on the smaller side, so around 6'3" to 6'5".

I would be dubious about a Weirdboy. Most of their psychic capability comes from the subconscious Waaagh! energy of the Orks around them, so he wouldn't be a very powerful psyker on his own. If he was powerful, then to anyone psychic he'd stick out like a sore thumb growing out of your forehead.

A Mekboy's ability to MacGyver something out of A BOX OF SCRAPS might be useful though.

~EDIT~ Keep in mind that odds are we're going to have plenty of leg-breakers, so you don't need to Minor in Asskicking (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/MinoredInAssKicking) to be relevant.

Yes, a Mekboy would be more appropriate than a straight up flashgit and weirdboys do generally need a waaagh as a power source

Faction: Inquisitorial Storm Troopers, on lease from Sidonis. He is there to observe and assist as needed.

Character Name: Cpt. Eugene Roebuck, Ret

Aliases: "Mean Gene", "Machine Gun Row", or just "M.G."

Age: 54, due to a rugged life he appears to be in his 60s.

Role: Hammer

Occupation: Mercenary, Retired Imperial Guard Officer.

Personality: The ever dour and stark commando, Roebuck is naturally quiet in a creature infested jungle or a small room filled with vicious diplomats. Nothing ever leaves his lips without careful consideration, and when he talks his deep Catachan drawl demands attention.

Physical Description: Like all Catachans, Roebuck is a very burly, muscled individual. Unlike them, however, he is over 2 meters tall. Being one of the largest and strongest of his planet, he physically reflects a superhuman space marine. He is covered in scar tissue, tattoos, and burns reflecting upon his tough life.

Equipment:
Daily wear includes a tight mesh weave which covers his torso and lower extremities, which provides similar protection to carapace armor but resembles the mesh armor worn by the xenos Eldar.

Weapons:
He carries a engergized Devil's Claw, named after the fearsome predator of the catachan jungles, that resembles a sword more than any knife. It is used in close quarters by many Catachan officers and has even earned a fearsome reputation amongst Orks, who refer to it as "Da Cutta." The blade itself is hollow and half filled with mercury to give it greater swinging power.

His favorite weapon is Verne, a massive heavy stubber he carries around as a personal firearm. During an intense firefight in the jungle, with his meltagun spent and his lasgun split in half in hand-to-hand with a lictor, he clambered upon to a hellhound providing close range support and protection for his squad. Roebuck promptly plucked the machine gun from it's mounts and proceeded to mow down a group of genestealers attacking their flank. After the battle the tank commander tried to take the weapon back, and Roebuck nearly beat him to death with it. No one else thought a good idea to try and take it away from him. He's had the gun ever since.

He also carries an assortment of handguns and explosives. He is also known to carry an assortment of firearms ranging from the simple lasgun and pistol to more exotic weapons like plasma guns, meltaguns, and even missile launchers.

Background:
Born on Catachan Roebuck began his life like any other member of his planet; a survivor. Roebuck decided to put his physical prowess to use and enlisted into the Catachan army. After showing extreme aptitude with weapons training and combat techniques, he was quickly elevated to NCO position.

Assigned to the Catachan XVIII, nicknamed the 'Swamprats', he joined the elite squads of the Catachan Devils. The 'Swamprats', led by Colonel Gator, embarked on a campaign for seven years against a Tyranid horde on the world of Koralkal VIII. His teams of highly experienced 'nid hunters covered their bodies in the ichor of the aliens they had slain to build up an immunity to the toxins and mask their smell from the Lictors that hunted them. After successfully wiping out the Tyranid swarm the 'Swamprats' had to spend two years on a decontamination ship.

Due to his near-superhuman metabolism Roebuck was able to recover faster than his comrades and was quickly put to work in the sector's Navy as a security officer. He took part in several boarding missions while his company recovered, which is where Roebuck met Franklin Priest. They grew to a position of mutual respect for one another, both realizing the physical and mental advantages of the other.

After his company recovered from their tour in space they returned to their division HQ where Roebuck was promoted to Lieutenant, due to his actions on Koralkal VIII and his assistance to the Imperial Navy. He continued to serve in the Swamprats, and was promoted to Captain and leader of the Company after Colonel Gator's death. At 40 he retired with pay and benefits befitting an officer of his station.

Feeling that he wasn't used up yet, but tired of being the Army's lackey, Roebuck went into business as a privateer, performing mercenary contracts for the highest bidder. His former Army contacts allowed him to access equipment and personnel normally not obtainable by a mercenary. Over the next ten years he built up a considerable reputation as one of the most feared and respected mercenaries in his sector.

During this time he built up considerable allies in both the criminal and military undergrounds, and many crime lords and reagents owe him personal favors, a perk that allows him to obtain just about any type of equipment he could ask for. Granted, nothing does the job as well as Catachan steel.

Recently Roebuck has been serving under the command of Inquisitor Lord Immanuel Sidonis. After a particular mission involving the rogue Inquisitor Nasreen Massani, which caused the glassing of the planet Solomon, Roebuck was approached by agents of the Lord. He has been working on and off with the Lord's agents for the past few years, snuffing out genestealer cults and quelling rebellions all throughout the galaxy. He has become valuable asset that Sidonis, and more specifically Lawrence, have come to rely on to complete any objective, no matter the difficulty.

Name: Grutch Mektoof

Age: 126

Occupation: Mechanist/One man destruction crew

Physical Appearance: Grutch stands about 6'3", although the fact that he's slouching heavily makes it difficult to determin his full size. His skin is light brown, which has caused him to be bullied and ignored by his fellow Orks, and it's full of scars, scratches, and bruises.

Image: Grutch Mektoof (http://img155.imageshack.us/img155/5029/grutch.png)

Personality: Grutch is a pretty social guy, if you can call it that, at least compared to other Orks. He enjoys talking to others, and learning new things, which he then incorporates in his invetions. When taking requests he likes to hear a lot of the customers ideas, and usually tries to have the customer stay and watch him work.

Compared to the rest of his race he is extremely intelligent, it's almost as if he wasn't an Ork at all, although he doesn't really compare to other races in IQ. He does however come up with some of the crasiest things you can imagine, and the funny thing is that most of them work as intended... Some not so much. He never gives up though, and if something doesn't work he tweaks it a bit and tries again.

He's not very prone to violence since he sees it as counter productive, but if he's forced in to a corner he will fight back with the full Waagh! of the the Orks. With the added power of his inventions he is not one to be trifled with.

Weapons: A Shoota/Rokkit Launcha combi-weapon that he built himself for multi purpose combat. It is a bit unreliable however, the rocket it fires isn't always accurate.

For close combat he sometimes uses his "mek stuffs".

Equipment: Most of his equipment consists of what he likes to call his "Mek stuffs". Wrenches, hammers, screwdrivers, and a bunch of unrecognisable tools that anyone other than him never would be able to use.

He also has a bunch of his newest "inventions" on him at all times, doesn't really matter if they're usefull or not.

Background: Soon after taking his first steps Grutch built his first Shoota. It was immediately clear that he was a Mekboy and he was sent to build new weapons of destruction. He spent several years slaving away under a greenskin who bullied him for his brown skin and made him work extra hard. He was able to take out his building rage on the gretchins and the occational snotling that walked by, but after a while that just wasn't enough. He figured out pretty fast that he was smarter than most of the other Orks around him, and he wanted away from the constant abuse, so he decided to just take off and create his own clan.

After about one year he had learned the hard way that he was not the leader type, being a bit on the smaller side and his brown skin mostly made the Orks he tried to reqruit laugh in his face. This only caused him to despice his race even more, and pushed him even further away from them, far enough to seek out other races to work with. His first encounter was with a small group of Imperial Guard who tried to kill him as soon as he showed up. It took him a few years to find out what groups of what races were willing to talk to him before shooting at him.

For the next few decades he traveled throughout the universe, working for several different factions and militia groups before arriving on Teleostei in search for new business ventures and allies. He had been there once before, so he did have some connections, and it didn't take long before he got in contact with Mr. Emerald to whom he offered his talents.

Name: Tyrandas Solaran

Age: 26

Occupation: Canoness of Order of Our Martyred Lady

Physical Appearance: She stands just over 5'11" feet tall within her full gear. The shining black armor, heavy blood red cloak and shining gold trim. Her long ceremonial sword, always stays by her side, just the same as her heated plasma pistol. By the gift of the emperor and the power of her faith, a shining golden halo always floats above her head, causing fear and terror to rip through the hearts of unbelievers and heretics.

Times, where she is not deployed and not in full gear, she stands just over 5'4"Her long pointed beautiful face, highly accented by her silver and blue eyes. Her short silver hair rests above her head or upon her face, the length is about down to her shoulders. Her perfect body, she claims was the gift of the emperor, flows beautifully giving her an aura of a Saint, her light perky breast add the final point and solidify her hourglass shape. She has many followers, many who love her, but many more who fear her.

Image: http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-f52V6m00A7I/ThMbUtwOeoI/AAAAAAAAB8E/3Up2Aa1PSCg/s1600/sketch_sisters_of_battle_by_legiomihinomenest-d3gdx1y.jpg

Personality: Tyrandas, is a very Solemn, always consecrated towards her mission. Many do not understand who she once was. Many of her old traits have kept with her, the deep love for her Sisters as well as her allies. Just as she can be soft and very loving, she can also chance and become hardened and relentless, to burn away and cleanse what was soiled. Do not underestimate and try and take advantage of her kindness, she has a low tolerance for people with evil intentions, and may cleanse you...

Weapons: Within her main hand she carries the purifying Brazier of Holy Fire given to her by the Emperor himself. Within her left hand she carries an Inferno Pistol

Equipment:
- Brazier of Holy Fire, The ultimate weapon of the Canoness. It's long sleek staff tipped on one end with the insignia of the Adepta Sororitas, to the other end which was built a large brazier, burning inside is the holy fire of the Emperor. The fire burns ever so brightly, raising moral to all allies, upon being seen.

- Inferno Pistol, It was once a regular plasma pistol, nothing too exciting. The old plasma pistol had been transformed, changing the heat power, it brought out the ultimate in burning, the ability to shoot an inferno, perfect for a Canoness. It's shorter barrel had to be replaced with one a few inches longer in order to properly maintain the fire and heat so the gun wouldn't melt. It is attached to the large backpack, where it sucks its fuel from, through a small pipe.

- Breast Plate of the Emperor's Blessing, a miraculous piece of crafting. A special breastplate built perfectly for the Canoness, it can withstand many heavy bolter shots, and even extreme temperatures keeping the user nice and average inside. But like all Canoness' the breast piece is also an amazing piece of artwork. They symbols of the Adepta Sororitas were forged onto each breast, locking the top half of the torso in a nice secure place, where as the bottom looks as though it was created from a corset, keeping the shape and beauty of the female inside. The silk loin cloths flow from the front, side and rear, of the waist, giving a look of a silk dress, one of purity. The breast plate also has many relics, dangling and shining from pure gold, from the neck guard and on from a long chain from the belt. They say the relics grant mighty power to the Canoness, shining brighter her faith becomes.

- Grieves of the Emperor's Blessing, just like the breast plate, built perfectly for the Canoness. The lining and the crafting is from a masterwork blacksmith. The Grieves are mostly covered up by the silver silk cloth.

- Gloves of the Emperor's Blessing, were built from the same material as the rest of the armor. They hold many runes which shine and sparkle with the faith of the Canoness. The blood red lining of the gloves begins to glow when the Canoness cleanses her enemy's

- Cloak of St. Katherine, The blood red cloak was one of legend it once belonged to a great saint, Katherine. It was passed onto Tyrandas after the great saint fell in battle. It's magical runes etched into the fabric grant the user a higher resistance to attacks
Background: It was a long time ago for her, when she was forged into the poweress that she is now. It began at a young age, she was noticed by the Ecclesiarch for her unwavering resolve and hatred for the unclean. Taken at a young age, she began training, through her training, she became a Sister. Many of the other Sisters deemed her weak, due to her kindness, and protectiveness. It wasn't until the battle of Armageddon, where they finally realized her powers. Watching her sisters being cut down by the rampaging orks fueled her rage, and her powers grew. While many questioned the Emperor on his decision at Armageddon, she stayed pure and and spoke out with Emperor to gain to hope and power within the order.

The rage that built up within her, powered her crusade to slaughter the unbelievers and return glory to her fallen Sisters, but being only a Battle Sister, her power was limited. It took only a few years for her to rise up the ranks. Small skirmishes around the universe begun to bring her fame, fame enough to be noticed. Her unwavering faith and her heroic feats saving her own squad, while still achieving victory, brought her into the ranks of the Canoness. Many people can see why Tyrandas became the Canoness of the Order of Our Martyred Lady, her fiery soul, and faith towards the Emperor are quite similar to the Order's Saint, Katherine.

I'd like to toss myself into this one, I think.

Name: Delaz Octavus

Age: 107

Occupation: Secutor of the Cult Mechanicus

Physical Appearance: Delaz is a tall individual, his broadness a little exaggerated by the Machinator array fitted to his body. He no loner bears any external flesh, having traded it for the more durable skin of steel and bionics. His body contains multiple hard points for weaponry, many of which go unused.

The only clothing Delaz wears are the blood red robes of his order. However, given his station, his robes have been made a bit more combat efficient and are capable of carrying his weapons and additional gear.

Weapons:

Vanaheim-Pattern Assault shotgun: A compact, auto-loading shotgun capable of putting down even heavily armored targets at close and medium range. The weapon also features an inbuilt red dot sight and a retractable saw bladed bayonet.

Breacher: A large caliber revolver custom built by Delaz to chamber .45-70 rounds in the style of a long-barreled hunting revolver. The weapon is not meant to be used in the hands of an unmodified human.

Plasma Pistol: A secondary weapon kept on-hand and only used against the most stubborn of targets.

Omnisian Axe: Gifted to Delaz many years ago, this power weapon is only used against opponents the Secutor truly wants to destroy face to face. Built as a single-headed axe with a saw-toothed blade, Delaz is capable of wielding it one-handed and the weapon itself is deadly regardless of if it’s power field is active.

Equipment: Aside from ammunition, Delaz keeps a hand-held auspex and a collection of various repair tools on hand.

Background: Delaz was inducted into the ranks of the Mechanicus at a young age and remembers nothing of his childhood before the age of twelve. Life on a Forge World leaves little opportunity for decent careers, leading Delaz to consider himself lucky. Through his years of training, he discovered a natural skill at fixing machinery as well as an affinity for weapons technology. Both of those served to shape the progress of his career in the Adeptus Mechanicus.

As a Tech-Priest, Delaz had a number of positions, the most interesting of which was being assigned to an Explorator ship for a brief tour. It was during his time on the Explorator ship that he found the opportunity to join the ranks of the Divine Light of Sollex, a specialist cult within the Mechanicus focusing on weapons technology and warfare.

He became a weapons smith, building various types of firearms from simple stub pistols to advanced laser weapons. It was also during his years among Sollex that he gained many of his bionic modifications. He specifically built and repaired weapons for the Skitarii of Sollex and soon found himself drawn deeper into the realms of warfare, fascinated by the destructive power of the weapons he and his kind built.

Thus he drew himself to the path of the Secutor, becoming more and more skilled in destructive and combat arts. Soon after being inducted into the ranks of the Secutor, he was joined to the Auxilia Myrmidon as the Mechanicus recognized that his natural skills could be best used among their ranks.

It was during an investigation into renegade tech-priests that Delaz first crossed with the Inquisition. The investigations were entirely different, but ended up becoming deeply intertwined by the end and left much of the lower levels of the Forge World in flaming ruins. This investigation caught Delaz the eye of Inquisitor Sidonis, a man who recognized the use such a warrior could be.

Persuaded by his superiors, Delaz accepted Sidonis’ offer to join the ranks of his retinue as a specialist in both machinery and battle.

If needed I can help fill one of the Stormtrooper spots.

Only if you want to.

I stated in the character section that people could play multiple characters if they wanted. The only requirement is that you can only control one per faction. So you can have up to three if you want; one agent, one storm trooper, and one member of Emerald's retinue.

I think we're about full on Inquisitorial Agents the, given we have 8 Now(Counting Alley, who stated that she was on loan to Sidonis').

Jansen couldn't be much happier with the group he's with, except perhaps how uptight Tyrandas may be, but she's a sister of battle so he doesn't really even consider her human.

Delaz and Jansen should get along well, since Jansen is an example of some quite intricate Ordos Mechanicus handiwork with his Glavian Biocircuitry. They also appear to both be fans of loud, practical firearms.

Whoops; yes, Alley's part of the Inquisition group. That makes two people with Glavian-style augmentation; though for entirely different applications.

And I believe the term is Adeptus Mechanicus. The "Ordo" term is generally only applied to branches of the Inquisition.

Age: 48

Physical Description: Anton is of average height, with wild black hair. His face’s main feature is a pair of large bionic eyes, wires running from them down into the folds of his elaborate green and brown robes
Equipment: A flak vest, worn under long robes. Cerebral plug, cogitator implant, optical mechadendrite

Weapons: Hecuter Heavy autopistol

Background:
Anton’s life has not been a particularly surprising one. He was born into the middle class of a Gyron III, an Imperial world of little note. Both his parents where adepts of the administratum, and by the time he was thirteen, so was he. For decades, he worked within the great offices of his organisation, performing work that would be considered the pinnacle of tedium – or meekness, for the euphemistically inclined – however, Anton was a competent scholar, and inch by inch he pulled ahead of his peers. As he climbed towards the upper ranks of adeptdom, he began to find himself working for more secretive masters, eventually including the odd Inquisitor. By now he was a master of the academic arts, his mind a vast repository of knowledge both obscure and dangerous.

Glavian Biotech is essentially designed to improve upon the human form without changing its humanity, unlike full-scale automation or run-of-the-mill bionics, its equal parts Art and Functionality.

Sort about the 'Ordos' mistake. I had always though it was just a formal pretext for 'Order of'

That's actually correct when talking about the actual use of the Latin "ordo." Hence why Ordo Malleus translates to "Order of the Hammer." I just don't think it's used outside of the Inquisition in 40k.

I'll shoot you up with any questions whenever they pop up.

The storm troopers have seven slots open as does Emerald's retinue. There's ONE slot left for the Agents

Indeed. The Bliskiriner only seats/sleeps Ten Max, and thats with one person having to share the rear compartment with our resident Astropath and sleep in the medbay, And Jansen pawning his fold-out bunk in the cockpit off to someone of higher rank and sleeping in the pilots seat.

I can't imagine an Inquisitor, even a lord, employing more people in his personal retinue than could be ferried from his Black Ship to the Ground in one group, or on a short-distance Space journey from any other carrier vessel he may utilize.

You're not Sidonis' personal retinue. Walter is considered one of those closest to him (in the same way that a carpenter might have a preferred screw driver) but the man maintains hundred of agents. And Blackships have crews and quarters to support THOUSANDS.

So, once Azazeal gets back from his hike and posts up Marcus, we'll have a full spread for the Inquisition. I'm working on my IST right now.

Oh, okay, we'll talking full-scale battle-group commandant, not much field work for Sidonis' himself(Sorry, I was still thinking Eisenhorn, thats the only 40k book I've read centered around the inquisition), still, I think that 10 is a good max number, anyway, as given the number of bad-asses we've got, many more and you would have to be throwing chaos marines at us for any challenge.

Rogue Trader Retinue

Name: Thomas “Tomo” Stewart.

Age: 29.

Occupation: Death Cult Assassin - Moritat Reaper.

Physical Appearance: Eyes are a natural violet color; his hair is stained colors from his years of traveling, somehow. He is relatively short, even for his age, and is commonly mistaken as a preteen without his painted mask on his features. Scars adorn his body and he is commonly seen in full black and crimson with armor that resembles the skeleton system beneath a black hooded robe.

Image: Tomo with his grim mask (http://fc09.deviantart.net/fs70/i/2011/101/3/3/hello_mr__lies_by_parenthesisx-d3drqmg.jpg) & Tomo without his grim mask (http://fc04.deviantart.net/fs37/i/2008/281/2/e/Boy_Kill_Boy_by_Gest0ert.jpg).

Weapons: A dagger strapped to his ankle; two thin swords attached to his back; knife-rings; and a knife he made out of the strongest of his mother's bones.

Equipment: Backup face makeup in case it smudges; a bag of various sweets; blood vials; and miscellaneous items..

Background: Living an extremely sheltered life prevented Tomo from fully comprehending the world for what it was until he was thirteen years old. The Stewarts resided deep within a forest in a long forgotten shack to avoid public eye and for various reasons unknown to Tomo until that horrid day in his early teens.

Exploring the forest was permitted, and he was doing just that with some companions he managed to make over the years despite being so deep in the middle of nowhere, it seemed, and that was when he stumbled upon his father’s secret. By tripping over a large mound of dirt surrounded by numerous other mounds, Tomo revealed the face of his mother beneath the dust he managed to kick off by mistake. Only a month ago his father had told him his mother “went to town” only for her to never return, and now he understood why.

Against his friends’ demands, Tomo moved dirt from the mounds to reveal twenty or so corpses buried not too far away from their own home - his father was always a terrible digger. Hanging his head in shame, Tomo stopped responding to those around him. The world went black.

When he came to he was deep within the cellar beneath their house and his friends were nowhere in sight; to this day he has no idea where they went. In the shadows he could see his father moving, though he was unaware what the man was doing. Needless to say, Tomo left the house drenched in blood, though whose it was is unknown.

He hid out in the forest for some time, feasting upon the flesh of the corpses for survival. During this time was when he was recruited to The Moritat to become a Death Cult Assassin. Vigorous training ensued and he followed every word ever uttered out of his mentors' mouths. He believed their views and worshiped to the fullest extent possible. Anyone who did not follow their belief was mercilessly eliminated, eventually elevating him to the Moritat Reaper position only given to those considered to be a vision of death.

He bares the face of grim to all whom he meets and refuses to go back from whence he came. However, he is not as intimidating as his facial paint would suggest. Despite all he had gone through, somehow he managed to retain an innocent approach to life, though a twisted innocence. Extremely naïve, Tomo does not see anything wrong with taking a life and will do it without a second thought. He’s, also, very submissive and tends to fall for anyone who shows him kindness due to his mother issues that were never resolved; however, that tidbit is kept a secret.

Assasins are always cool. Of course, in Warhammer, the preferred method of killing people is bloodily with some sort of oversized rocket-propelled-automatic-grenade-launching-assualt rifle, but I suppose good old stabbings work too.

And it's not like stabbings and slashings, etc. can't get brutal. With the right angles at the right moments you can slash out someone's innards in a second, especially with what I read about these assassin peoples.

Task Force Carbon

Name: Cpl. Kylara "Ky" Mainwaring, ASL, ARM. Holder of the Crimson Skull, Order of the Scarlet Wing, Medallion Crimson.
Age: 32
Occupation: Corporal of Lord Immanuel Sidonis' Inquisitorial Storm Troopers, Assistant Squad Leader of Lt. Yvonne Kepler's Command Group, Automatic Riflewoman, Certified (insane) Valkyrie Pilot

Personality: Ky is a cheerfully violent woman. Since her childhood and her time in the schola, she has turned to combat as a first resort as a response to dismissals or challenges. In her time as a Corporal and ASL, she has encountered many troopers that disdained her authority, generally due to her size or gender, and her method of keeping them in line is to happily pound them into submission as many times as required. She tends to be the one who throws the first punch, and the dozen-odd after that. Under no circumstances should anyone make a short joke; they tend to send her into a fury. Outside of these circumstances, she's cheerful and nice to be around; just watch yourself. She is a trained Valkyrie pilot, and can do the same for vehicles on the same chassis, such as Vultures; however, after one too many hair-raising escapades Yvonne tends to request a dedicated pilot rather than suffer more of Kylara's breakneck flying.

Physical Appearance: Kylara bears a slightly disconcerting resemblance to her commanding officer. Standing just below the standard Storm Trooper height minimum at 148cm, Ky is quickly identifiable by her shock of fire-red hair. Her skin is a weather-beaten and slightly unhealthy-looking pale, due to hazardous atmosphere exposure. She wears a suit of black carapace armour, whose cameleoline exterior has been exposed to so many hostile environments that it retains a constant grey-brown tinge. The armoured generator backpack attached to the armour connects to a large, bulky version of a hellgun via a series of thick, armoured black cables.

Equipment:
Mk. 36 Gryphonne-Pattern Prototype Hellgun SAW "Taegan": When Ky's prized hellgun was destroyed by a close shave with a melta during the fighting on Gryphonne IV, she acquired this prototype while in a running battle through the research facilities. Since then, she has named it "Taegan" and kept it in obsessively good condition, down to the glossy black finish. It resembles a blockier, heavier version of a hellgun with a reinforced barrel. Its main feature is a secondary mode of fire, trading the hellgun's armour-piercing capability down to lasgun level but allowing for a much higher rate of fire, allowing for more than one thousand rounds a minute; power permitting. It also has a bottom-mounted port that accepts standard lasgun power packs, which supplement the reactor in her backpack and essentially double each shot she makes.
Looks something like this. (http://s3.amazonaws.com/gamervision_production/1242350337LHsFql7wmA.jpg)
Inquisitorial Storm Trooper Carapace Armour, Mod AR: This black carapace armour is the standard issue to Inquisitorial Storm Troopers. Among other things (such as an in-built vox, vacuum and environmental sealing, etc.), it includes a cameleoline surface for camouflage; however, Ky's armour has been exposed to such hostile environments that the cameleoline is covered with a grey-brown tinge. The only difference between this armour and the standard one is its backpack. Normal armour of this type uses a set of superconducting capacitors to power the attached hellgun; the AR modification uses a small fusion plant to compensate for Automatic Rifle(wo)men's greater power expenditure. Due to the volatility of this power source, the backpack is heavily armoured and spread across the back.
Mars-Pattern High-Capacity Autopistol (http://www.para-usa.com/new/images/product_photo/SX1445Sphoto.gif): A powerful projectile pistol chambered for a high-velocity 11mm round and holding a magazine of 14. It usually is stocked with hollow-point rounds, though she keeps a magazine of full-jacketed rounds just in case. This is usually kept in a thigh holster on her armour; though she has a shoulder holster suitable for non-fully-armoured situations.
Combat Blade: A fixed-blade triangular 14-inch combat knife that Ky acquired while in her schola years. Its hilt contains a superconducting capacitor that produces a variable-length cleaver-shaped energy field. Rather than creating a disintegrating field like standard power weapons do, this essentially creates an incredibly hard and unnaturally sharp blade over the template of the knife itself. It rests in a special sheath on her armour that contains a connection to its fusion backpack, recharging it when not in use. Its battery can sustain about half an hour of constant use before it needs to recharge.
Augmetics: During the intense fighting on Gryphonne IV, Kylara was clipped by a melta blast. While it didn't kill her like a direct hit would, the blast of unimaginably hot gases melted away a good chunk of the left side of her face and made a large hole in her shoulder. After her time in the battle-zone ended, she took a long convalescence. The injuries (and her stubborn refusal to leave the front lines and have them properly treated) forced the replacement of her left shoulder and most of the left side of her face. A combination of nerve implants and skin grafts returned her face to its original appearance, though a trained eye can see the slight delay in its movements. Her left eye had to be entirely replaced with a green-irised Mechanicus eye, which she views as a bit of an advantage as it gives her numerous improvements over a Mk. 1 Eyeball. Her shoulder is entirely mechanical.

Background: Kylara was the seventh child of the Mainwaring Rogue Trader dynasty, and as such grew up in the lap of luxury with her six elder siblings. However, her parents, having assigned future roles in their empire to each of her six brothers and sisters, saw little use for her and sent her off to the Schola Progenium at age six, never to see her again. Even in the schola, she was a good deal smaller than her classmates but made up for it by intense motivation and a good deal of violence in response to cracks at her height. While not very successful in academic subjects, her intuitive grasp of tactics, excellent gunnery and brutal unarmed combat capability sent her into the Storm Trooper stream. Repeatedly moving up in the unarmed combat age groups, she finally met her match in a two-year-older Alicia Tarran. They first met in a ten-bout match that left both exhausted and battered, and they became close but adversarial friends; constantly seeking to outdo each other. Out of the schola, they were placed into the same squad: Sergeant Tarran and Corporal Mainwaring, her ASL. Even after Alicia's promotion to Staff Sergeant, she kept the younger Kylara nearby. When her friend was accepted into the prestigious Nebula Corps program, Ky was alone. She fought through hundreds of warzones; the dustlands and factories of Gryphonne IV, the vacuum zones of Lycosidae, the palaces of Askelphion Secundus and more. She has been promoted (brevet and otherwise) to Sergeant on a number of occasions, but due to discipline infractions and her natural disrespect of authority it has never stuck. It has been five long years since she was remanded to the personal forces of Lord Immanuel Sidonis, and in that time she has served under Lt. Yvonne Kepler, most recently as the ASL of her command group.

That's the IST.

And that's why those "Nearly"s are in there.

To be fair, all of us, even the carry-overs from Pembroke are a fair bit more badass now. I don't think Alley would have the same kind of trouble against Kadath, even if he had a melta-wielding crony with him.

Anyways, that was a bad situation to start off with. Unarmed, no combat suits/armour, etc.

Looks good, Kardar.

and for that first go-round I didn't want to intentionally "off" anyone right out of the gate. Maintaining the narrative and all that. But this time there's a lot more bodies to go around and there's no excuses to not act like professionals.

And as for Kadath.... he's had five years of honest Inquisitorial support as well. No longer hanging around with the ex-IG ruffians and playing hit-and-run with Arbites.

Strange though, he's now overseeing the Storm Trooper groups, including the Agents that have been imbedded within their midst for tactical support and intelligence gathering. So that would include Kally and Eugene. I wonder if they've forgiven him after five years.... he did turn around near the end and lead to the downfall of Massani but prior to that he was something of a prick, wouldn't you say? Could make for some interesting exchanges down the road.

Oh, I do believe that I’ll toss my hat into the ring for this one.

For SandQueen:

I’m interested in being the Sanctioned Psyker for TF-Carbon, as I’ve never played out a psyker before, and it could be rather fun to be the physically (and maybe mentally) weakest link amongst a group of heroes. If I remember correctly, from WarSeer, you had wanted the psyker to at least be physically capable enough not to slow down/get in the way of the squad – so know how to wear carapace and get down a fast rope.

Furthermore, what would the limitations be on psyker powers? Specifically - about how many powers could the sanctioned have access to, and can they be from different disciplines – i.e. some from Telekinesis and others from Telepathy? Not interested in being too jacked up, but would just like to stop and know before I go.

Also, about being in Mr. Emerald’s group of cronies – would an ex-Penal Legionnaire, still implanted with his combat drug injector, be considered too low class and/or unstable for his company? Thoughts of a spur junkie ex-convict had appealed, but I could rightfully understand why that might not be the type of man you’d want around. My other concepts were of an ex-Gladiator wielding an eviscerator sized chainsword, or a Delaque ganger who made the big-time.

This (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CyHccRN2RaQ&feature=player_detailpage) should give you a good "Normal" for a combat oriented sanctioned psyker. Body language, speech pattern... just take that sort of aggressive yet neurotic attitude and combine it with someone who isn't the most physically threatening.

Furthermore, what would the limitations be on psyker powers? Specifically - about how many powers could the sanctioned have access to, and can they be from different disciplines – i.e. some from Telekinesis and others from Telepathy? Not interested in being too jacked up, but would just like to stop and know before I go.

Your specialty would mainly be up to you. I'm not going to dictate powers to you like this is dark heresy because it's not. But most Psykers of this power level have one or two abilities that they focus in. Like mental communication or telekinesis or shooting lightning. Now those powers don't just have an on-off switch either. Being a good telepath means that you could serve as a back-up vox caster in essence. Being a great one means that if you set your mind to it *I win at puns* you could make an enemy forget that they saw you. Same goes for telekinesis. Low end you could help clear paths and wreckage, high end you're force-choking people. As for electrical or pyrokinetic powers the same goes. Depending on how much effort you put in it could range from a taser or blow torch to a 60ft lightning bolt/ EMP wave/ throwing fireballs around like Tim the enchanter.

But keep in mind that you'll be in high stress, combat situations where you might not always be able to stand around concentrating on squishing someone's rib cage like a grape. That's not to say that you wont be able to, just that high stress and trying to do stupendous things can be a good way to give yourself nose bleeds, aneurisms, and maybe even a full blown perils of the warp attack. So more difficult the task you're trying to perform the greater risk for backlash.

Also, about being in Mr. Emerald’s group of cronies – would an ex-Penal Legionnaire, still implanted with his combat drug injector, be considered too low class and/or unstable for his company? That's true. Quite a few of us (being SQ, Dakkagor, Azazeal, Culsandar and Ixajin, maybe a couple I missed) have been part of the Warseer community for a while, and with the exception of Ixajin we've been in two or three RPs in this chain.

However, I think most of it is going to be references to past things. I strongly suggest that you take a look at the three links that SandQueen posted up in the opener, as they'll provide a lot of backstory and context for these characters. For example, one of Dakkagor's characters, Kally Sondar, has gone through a big psychological change through her first appearance, and that has a lot to do with what happened in Lucius Pembroke is a Dead Man.

So yeah. Read them. Some good writing in there too, and you'll get a feel for our styles.

Indeed. Kally went from loner type to one of the unifying member of the party, one of the few that tried to stop things from utterly fracturing. Not only that but there was a very slight affection between her Lucius. It wasn't a full blown romance but is was very similar to what develops between nurses and patients.

EDIT:

I'd like to kick this off around Friday. So you've all got 36-48 hours left to submit characters

GAH!

Just a heads up, I have NO idea what I am doing on Friday (today my time as of the moment), so I may not be able to reply to this, once it's up, until Saturday after my hair appointment (which is in the morning that day).

No worries. This is a play by post forum is it not? I'd never run something this complicated via a chat.

I think that the Ru is just stressing over nothing. Besides, having a few others in her characters group post first will probably help her get a feel for the scenerio, so it could be a good thing.

This is supposed to be a *Realtively* slow moving RP, correct? If only due to number of entrants.

This is supposed to be a *Realtively* slow moving RP, correct? If only due to number of entrants.

Depends on how frequently people post. If someone's just lounging around and not really interacting with a given scene but others are posting up a storm I'll advance things. I feel in no way constrained by the number of posters because in every story there's always characters that become the primary focus and others that form a secondary role. In the best stories however the line between primary and secondary shifts to compliment the personalities and specialties of the characters in question.

For example in one of the previous plot lines Culsander's character of Eugene Roe was very prevalent in the action sequences. Such was the nature of the character. But in the narrative sequences he generally kept his mouth shut.

In short I'm more than willing to move things along at whatever pace the group establishes. I'll only intentionally delay in order to avoid a time paradox (which can happen when you're dealing with multiple groups).

Name: Gavin Jenkins

Age: 27

Team: Task Force Carbon

Occupation: Sanctioned Psyker

Appearance: Gavin is hardly the most distinguished or physically intimidating man, standing at a moderate height but rather lanky and undefined. This highlighted to an almost comical extent when Gavin wears the mandatory carapace armor of the Inquisitorial Storm Troopers, when coupled with his shorn scalp before combat operations, creates an unflattering image of a baby chicken hatching from his shell. More often than not Gavin has a perpetually pinched or sour look on his face, his eyes darting around warily behind his robust and utilitarian glasses, ready to flinch from the blow he expects at any moment. The most noteworthy elements of Gavin’s appearance are some horrific looking scars on his temples, and the gently humming and whirring sounds of his bionic legs.

http://www.google.com/imgres?q=full+metal+jacket+joker&hl=en&biw=1920&bih=975&gbv=2&tbm=isch&tbnid=bCBaUK_2MtmqXM:&imgrefurl=http://www.rottentomatoes.com/celebrity/matthew_modine/pictures/10988160/%253Ftype%253Dflixster&docid=ehmG6Tc2T0qFjM&w=266&h=199&ei=yM8zTqjwAo_AgQeg8ojqDA&zoom=1&iact=rc&dur=797&page=2&tbnh=122&tbnw=162&start=47&ndsp=67&ved=1t:429,r:24,s:47&tx=96&ty=38

Psychic Abilities

Machine Empathy (Telekinetic): Gavin has an affinity with mechanical, electrical, and electronic technologies. He is able to use this ability to either enhance or damage these systems as necessary. Most frequently in the field this is used to find and diffuse IEDs or render enemy weapons incapable of firing – or, if needs must, something like prematurely activating an explosive charge.

Psi-Track (Telepathy): Gavin is also able to use his abilities to find the locations of persons around him like a mental auspex, even if they are otherwise hidden or obscured. If he concentrates enough, Gavin is able to get inside a single living mind and dig into it like a tick – learning of past actions done and locations visited, as well as their current situation.

Equipment:

Fully enclosed carapace armor with integrated rebreather
Load bearing webbing with spare power packs, food, medkit, and assorted tools
Kantrael pattern Laspistol – Used, but mostly on the firing range.
Aquila hilted combat knife – Factory fresh quality; as if Gavin’s using this, there’s a problem.
Bionic legs – Average quality, but good enough to take some stress off of wearing carapace and combat gear.
Whistle – Derisive gift given to Gavin from the Inquisitorial Storm Troopers, in case of trouble – just blow.

Background: Gavin was born into a relatively prosperous yet comparatively poor mercantile house in the mid-hive stacks of Lucror IV, a free port of soaring wealth and crushing poverty, where he was but one of many sons and daughters of a family-cartel which had higher aspirations of wealth and influence. Quiet and unassuming even as a boy, Gavin was all but ruled out of being any use to the family as either a potential marriage candidate or involved in the art and sport of business. But children on Lucror that cannot be married off for wealth or kept in the family for evident talent have other uses – building connections into Imperial institutions. With a curious affinity and understanding for technology that developed as he matured, and with desperate scheming set on getting some lucrative contacts with the Mechanicus, Gavin’s family palmed him off into an apprentice program in his teens.

It was during this time of indentured servitude that Gavin’s latent psychic abilities came to the forefront, as his technological abilities far outstripped the capabilities expected of a neophyte. Gavin was able to take machinery that had been functioning at sub-optimal performance for centuries and yield results as if they were new. After careful analysis and calculations by worthy Tech-Priests, the only logical conclusion could be that Gavin had been indulging in techno-heresy and had to be purged. Having sensed what was in store for him; lobotomized and rendered into a servitor, Gavin attempted his escape before he could be apprehended in his dormitory. This lasted as far as to the nearest embarkation bay, where a gene-bulked loading servitor swiped Gavin’s legs out from under him with a shattering swing of a power-lifter.

When lucidity returned to him, Gavin found himself restrained to a ritual operating table while a senior Tech-Magos pronounced his sentence. At this the saw machinery started to do their work, slowly rending into his temples, the noise, smell, and pain excruciating. With a last juddering thought Gavin was able to disable the machinery before fading out to black again. The next time Gavin regained consciousness he found himself once again restrained – but not surrounded by a score of Machine Cultists pronouncing judgment, but rather a single man sitting on a stool in the shadows. The man revealed himself as Sidonis, a Lord of His Imperial Majesty’s Inquisition, and that it was by his mercy that Gavin lived. In exchange for his continued mercy Gavin would have to undergo the proper procedures for sanctioning and become an agent of the Inquisition – or, he could be remanded back to the Mechanicus to continue their punishment. Gavin accepted, and went through the necessary trials and tribulations – becoming an agent of the Inquisition.

Name: Merle Ray Carson

Age: 50

Team: Emerald’s Retinue

Occupation: General Purpose Scumbag

Crimes: Many – in the past. Frequently still, when required to do so.

Appearance: Merle is an old hand in the business of violence; his pulled back hair and goatee thoroughly salt and pepper, and a patchwork of scars mar his trim and muscled physique. Dozens of tattoos cover his body, most of them either indicating an old allegiance or savored memory. Frequently Merle can be observed wearing a leather trench coat over anonymous black fatigues; more often than not either smoking or drinking something that’s cumulative effect will likely see him dead in the next decade if he isn’t killed before then.

http://www.google.com/imgres?q=Elias+Koteas&hl=en&gbv=2&tbm=isch&tbnid=5qtObEUoCt_mMM:&imgrefurl=http://www.aceshowbiz.com/still/00005158/defendor07.html&docid=nQ8nnYnySld4NM&w=550&h=366&ei=wtMzTsqaJJHC0AGe15SNDA&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=169&vpy=503&dur=6875&hovh=183&hovw=275&tx=135&ty=86&page=1&tbnh=133&tbnw=176&start=0&ndsp=75&ved=1t:429,r:22,s:0&biw=1920&bih=975

Equipment:

Chain axe – Merle’s close combat weapon of choice during and since his days in the pit; he keeps it in a loop on his right hip under his jacket. The axe is capable of telescoping out more of a haft for it to be wielded effectively in two hands.

Pump Action Combat Shotgun – An old but reliable shotgun of indeterminate production source. Merle keeps this weapon on a chain sling around his body, and keeps extra shells (including scatter, bolt, and inferno) on bandoliers and in pockets.

Sidearm – Matte black Kostec .40; cheap and reliable, favorite of gangland thugs. Holstered on Merle's left hip.

Injector Implant – Delivery system for the combat drug Spur; which is known to boost the strength, reflex, and reaction times of the user. The substance is not to be taken lightly or without sufficient cause to warrant its use.

Armor – Layer of mesh armor woven in underneath the trench coat that Merle frequently wears, offering better protection to his body on all locations except the head and lower legs than flak armor would normally. Merle’s legs are protected by heavy plated combat boots that double as improvised weapons.

Knives – Several; one in right boot, another secured to combat webbing on right chest, and a final one on the small of the back.

Miscellaneous – Ammunition and essential supplies tucked away in pockets, also a rebreather as necessary. At least one flask and several cartons of cigars or cigarettes should also be expected.

Background: Merle’s background is like many other thugs in these days and times in the Imperium. Cue the same old tired story about never knowing his father, but knowing how his mother kept them both indoors, and a culture of gang rule on the fringes of Imperial law. Joining the hive-gang scene was easy; there was no other choice and it if the life didn’t kill you, it kept you alive. As Merle grew from juve to adult he earned his reputation as something of a hard case; a heavy weight goon for one of the more influential bosses. Life was actually starting to shape up into something sweet until the Emperor came calling for his due, and the Guard swept up and away a generation of gangers into the service.

To put it mildly, Merle Ray Carson didn’t quite fit into the regimented lifestyle of the Guard. It was impossible to respect an officer whose only qualification to lead was have blue in his blood and a silver spoon jammed in an orifice since birth. It was difficult to wean off some familiar habits that had been established since his juve years; after all, vices are vices. Sometimes, when on liberty between warzones, vices have a way of coming back with a vengeance. Of course Merle would mostly sober up or come back down before coming back to base; as the leashes are tight about that sort of thing, and they really didn’t have a sense of humor. Also, it didn’t do to leave anyone around to talk about his indiscretions, as birds really do know how to sing loudly sometimes – but not if they can’t anymore.

The Commissars eventually did catch up to Merle, and most of the crimes and perversions that he was charged with were actually in the ballpark of what he’d done –even if they underestimated his prowess. Shortly thereafter Merle found himself stranded on some backwater penal colony; home to all the dregs and scum that the Imperial military couldn’t contrive a way to get killed in battle quickly enough, and had become liabilities. Of course it wouldn’t be some by the book joint that Merle got shipped to; leave it fate, and some vindictive red sashes, to send him to the type of place that ran a wholesome side business in pit fighting for the wealthy and bored locals and travelers of esoteric tastes. Merle was coerced into fighting; and accepting the combat drug known as Spur, when the Warden noticed his potential after watching security footage from a minor riot that saw thousands dead.

That’s how Merle came into the employ of Emerald; who made a brief appearance when his travels brought him by this backwater, and sent his own champion against the best sport that this rabble could offer. The Kroot that Emerald sent was the toughest fight of Merle’s life; as the creature had been a victor in scores of death-duels, and the battle was worth every crown wagered. Once Merle had finished dismembering the alien’s body, and had been goaded back into his cell by the guard’s scourges, Emerald made an offer to the Warden that could not be refused. Since that day Merle has been a paid goon for the Rogue Trader.

Name: Lilitha Ivera

Team: Rogue Trader

Occupation: Former stadium acrobat turned Rouge Trader

Age: 25

Physical Description: Lily is a small, unimportant looking person. Her height is a simple five foot six. This coupled with a neutral face and small bosom and buttocks make her somewhat unremarkable to the eye. If you look closer, you would notice the lean and toned mucles, ready to stretch to impossible degrees. Her hands, though small, hold a remarkable number of small permenant scars and burn mark from years of work.

Personality: Lily is somewhat the same as her body. On the outside, she is timid looking and unassuming. A gentle way of going about things makes her a general calming balm on most situations. This gentle nature makes most people relax around her. This is not a good idea for them. Underneath Lily is a somewhat cold-hearted bitch to be truthful. She kills with severity and satisfaction that the job is done. That doesn't mean she likes it. But most people are simply meat-sacks to her, unimportant, and disposable.

Weapons: Various Throwing Knives, Poisons, A Dart Crossbow, Adhesive explosives, and a Submachine Lasgun.

Equipment: Lily carries around a variety of stealth equipment, though most of it is unoticable. She doesn't enjoy showing off what little figure she has, so a simple bodyglove suffices. Detachable pockets on both thighs hold various communication devices, razor sharp wire, and adhesive climbing gloves.

Background: Lilitha was born on the world of Sintarex in the Barvian cluster. At birth, she was handed away to slavers to pay off her families debt. As she grew, she was treated harshly, and trained to be an acrobat in one of the various circus's around her planet. Her world was a newly industrious planet, just turned over from agriculture after Mechanicus scribes found an old report of important minerals in the planets fertile upper crust. Workers were imported from other worlds to amplify the lower population. This led a turmult and cross-cultured society. In addition, various trade Industries all laid claim to the world at the same time, trying to be the first to strip it to the bone. All in all, it was a corrupt yet still beautiful place.

Lilitha came to be one of the most sought after acrobats in the circus ring. However, he cricus master was not satisfied. He sold off Lilitha to off world traders to make a quick buck. Fortunately for Lilitha, her new masters were kinder to her. They tought her new skills that amplified her own. These skilss were those of subterfuge and assination. Assassination and sneaky practices are common amongst Rogue traders, and Lilitha proved to be very useful in that aspect. Over the years, she came to be her own master, though she is currently bound to Mr. Emerald.

Rogue Trader Retinue

Name: Arcolin DeRei, known as "The Blue Devil" or "The Smiler"
Age: 38
Occupation: Retired Arbitrator, Paladin of Tzeentch, Expert-Qualified Marksman, Magnificent Bastard

Personality: Arcolin laughs at many things. He takes spiteful enjoyment in the mishaps and downfalls of others and takes no pains to hide his amusement. This trait of character is disconcerting to most and more so to those who know of him. It also renders him quite unpredictable as his laughter could mean his amusement or your swiftly impending death. Though he seems easygoing, he balances on a sharp edge of perception and paranoia at all times. Since the encounter at Makita Hive, he has taken to meticulously planning encounters with a powerful zeal.

Appearance: In his full dress, Arcolin is a sight to behold. Standing a full 6'5", narrow-shouldered but powerful, his piercing blue eyes observe what others merely see. His skin is fair, and his handsome face is marred by the mess of old fire-scarring over his left jaw and cheek. He wears an ancient Spyrer suit of deepest blue, and often he extends a half-mask from the armour to cover his burned face. The mask is generally shaped as a white face maliciously grinning, which matches his standard expression. A rifle and sub-machine gun hang from their respective places, a heavy pistol sits in a thigh holster, a sword rests in a leg sheath on his left leg and a knife is placed for rapid retrieval by his right wrist. Above his assortment of weaponry and armour, he wears a midnight blue cloak whose surface is covered in razor-sharp red-tinted glass shards.

Equipment:
Exitus Rifle (http://images.wikia.com/gtarp/images/0/04/CT_085.jpg): This massive rifle fires 25mm rimless bottlenecked armour piercing depleted uranium rounds at hypersonic velocities. Its turn-bolt action ensures perfect reliability and exceptional accuracy especially when combined with the extremely tight rifling of the barrel. It offers little in the way of amenities, but Arcolin's experience with similarly powerful weaponry helps to ameliorate the weapon's powerful recoil. Through intensive training, Arcolin is qualified to take high-complexity shots at a range of up to two miles. He carries the weapon on a set of hooks and hangars that exist on the back of his armour for precisely that purpose. The weapon system includes a bipod, ballistic computer, weather tracker, laser rangefinder and an incredibly powerful telescopic sight equipped for night operations.
Jakara Suit: Spyrer suits are generally unimaginably old heirlooms passed down through generations, and this one is no exception. The Jakara style focuses on incredible speed and precision; as such, this armour bestows preternatural speed and agility on its wearer. It can change colour and visual texture to blend in with its surroundings or according to wearer's whim (a property shared by the mask it extrudes), and its ability to extrude clawed fingertips from its gauntlets provide its wearer with an emergency weapon. Its protection remains below the level of heavy carapace, but that is compensated by the three-foot-wide round shield commonly used in the wearer's right hand. The previous incarnation of this shield has passed, and now has been replaced by a red-tinted pane of mirrored Type V ballistics glass, transformed in the warp into 'flect glass. The wearer of the suit hears a slight humming, as if the armour is eager to return to action.
Cloak of Blades: Arcolin wears a long, dark cloak whose outer surface is covered in redly glittering glass blades. These shards of glass are impossibly sharp and provide excellent protection against attacks from behind. This can be disguised by the simple expedient of turning it outwards or draping a second cloak over-top it.
Mk. 81 IMI-Pattern Sub-Autogun (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/e/e1/Tavor-latrun-exhibition-1.jpg): Arcolin acquired this piece as a backup to replace his prized battle rifle that was lost in the destruction of Makita Hive. It fires heavy 300-grain rounds at approximately one thousand rounds per minute; its articulated non-linear recoil system helps to compensate for this weapon's felt recoil. It is also compatible with very heavy subsonic rounds to complement its attachable suppressor. It carries an integrated holographic sight modified to match his specifications exactly. Arcolin keeps it on a sling and has learned to swing it up to fire at a moment's notice.
Mars-Pattern Mk. 1 Heavy Reinforced Autopistol (http://www.warseer.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=93930&d=1281143255): This is Arcolin's oldest weapon; the one he chose when he became a full Arbitrator. It fires 200-grain 11mm rounds at high velocity, and is designed to be used against light carapace armour. He loads it with steel-jacketed rounds and keeps it in a thigh holster; he also has a matching shoulder holster.
'Flect Blade (http://fc02.deviantart.net/fs33/f/2008/238/4/2/Glass_Sword_by_Gref313.jpg) and Knife (http://www.glass123.com/large%20image/1038.jpg) pair: These weapons were made from the same 'flect glass that he used to construct his shield, and thus are incredibly tough, surprisingly heavy and unimaginably sharp. They glide through armour without hindrance and they leave madness in their wake, due to direct 'flect exposure. The sword of this pair is held in a sheath bound to the left leg and hip of Arcolin's armour, while the knife is held underneath his right wrist where it is difficult to see and easily retrievable.

Background: Arcolin was born to a high noble family of Makita Hive, on the planet of Solomon. His hedonistic family used 'flects for recreational purposes, and he was exposed to them from a young age. For political reasons, he was sent to a Schola Progenium at the age of seven, where he was funneled into the arbitrator channel, was officially put into apprentice training at 18, and six years later became a full arbitrator. After much time in service, he was on a drug raid when he encountered no less than the Patriarch of the DeRei house engaging in shady deals with certified criminals. He killed everyone in the warehouse, destroyed it and went on to cleanse the DeRei estate with promethium. He took his leave and disappeared into the underhive with his rifle and pistol. During this time he disappeared from the hive entirely for a period of about a year; when he returned, he retrieved his ancestral Jakara suit from the ruins of his family's household and began a new existence in the underhive of Makita as Tzeentch's vanguard, the Blue Devil. At one point, bored with the petty intrigues of the underhive gangs he came up-hive to investigate one Lucius Pembroke, whose five-million-credit bounty raised some eyebrows. Arcolin had some interesting adventures with the Pembroke-finding team; but his final attempt to destroy the creature was cut short by the destruction of the hive by cyclonic torpedo. He managed to make it out of the Exterminatus site, but had to leave his prized rifle behind. Arcolin disappeared for nearly five years, but recently resurfaced in the retinue of Mr. Emerald, a mysterious Rogue Trader. So far, only Emerald and his people know of Arcolin's resurgence, and he intends it to stay that way for now.

How well informed is Emerald's team? Emerald obviously knew about the Inquisition group's descent, but do they know who the team is made up of? Do they know about the people in Sidonis' assets but don't know who they dropped? Does Emerald know these things and just hasn't bothered to tell the team?

~EDIT~ Oh, how many ground-floor entrances does our mostly-destroyed apartment building have?

By their composition Emerald's team would inherently know that someone's out to get them. Just look at assembled individuals... aliens, criminals, a khornate death cult. These are genuinely BAD people, at least in the eyes of the Imperium.

It's also common knowledge that there's a significant presence from both the PDF and a group of Inquisitorial Storm Troopers.

As for the specifics of the Agents only Emerald, Juno, and Arcolin would know the specifics but that was a week ago... some of the group has been split up and assigned to other places while new faces have been placed in as well. And only Emerald knows that new agents have arrived, and not just by looking out the window...

I was planning to have Arcolin on the roof scoping (literally) out the area; he'd definitely see what basically amounts to orbital bombardment.

Is Arcolin's knowledge of the agents limited to who was on the ground during Drowning, or is it more comprehensive?

Hi everybody, I'm back (and only just in time, it looks like).

As per SandQueen's request:

Name: Marcus “Marc” Black
Age: 31
Occupation: Investigator
Team: Inquisition

Family:
+ Father, Varrius Black, 52, enforcer – invalided out of active service following injury during secessionist rebellion, now returned to duty in Decker Hive following augmetic surgery.
+ Mother, Cassandria Black, deceased, victim of Makita’s great hive plague.
+ Sister, Kelly Black, 30, former enforcer (verispex division), now a member of Sidonis’ analysis and prosecutions team.

Personality: Marc has an analytical mind and a talent for piecing together information. With his employment with the inquisition now out in the open, he is considerably more social, while remaining businesslike when on mission. He still hates to leave a job unfinished, which is why the unconfirmed death of the heretic Arcolin DeRei irks him to this day. Although he is a caring man when it comes to his family, he has always had a certain ruthlessness about him, and this has only grown more pronounced during his time with the inquisition.

Physical Description: Marc is 6'1 and of medium build, with short dark hair and green eyes. He is usually cleanshaven. He has unremarkable features and barring short periods of tan from missions to warmer climates his skin is the typical pale of a hive-dweller. He has entrance and exit scars on his right leg, courtesy of Major Al-Omar during the Pembroke case, which have healed up well but still give him some pain during colder weather.

Equipment: Marc’s primary talent has always been investigation and his equipment reflects this, although now he is backed up by the full financial weight of an inquisitor lord. Walter's unofficial mission however calls for his heaviest armament.

+ Decker pattern autogun - Produced in one of Solomon's still-standing hives, it is a bullpup configuration assault rifle designed for urban warfare.
+ Military-grade carapace armour - A pressurised armour suit painted in urban camo, containing standard vox and image enhancement in the helmet and several mag-locks for additional equipment. A sophisticated auspex suite is built into the vambrace.
+ Spy drone - A mechanical construct similar in size and appearance to a common fly, which can transmit visual and auger data back to Marc’s armour. Alicia Tarran also has access to the data it transmits following an earlier exchange.
+ Low-level inquisitorial signet ring - A microprocessor containing inquisitorial overrides, worm programs and encryption-breakers tailored to the various cogitator systems used by the locals on Taleostei.
+ Micro-needler - Mounted in another ring, it generally contains one dose each of Paralytum, Veritas and Etum Omega. Like the signet ring, it fits over the gloves of Marc's armour.
+ Triplex-Phall pattern laspistol - A relic of Marc’s undercover work with inquisitor de Shilo, it sits in a hip holster.

History: Marc was born in Makita Hive on planet Solomon, into a family of mid-level hivers with a strong tradition of service in the local enforcers. His father was a front-line sergeant, preferring to remain in the field despite offers of transfer or promotion, while Marc rose up through the CID branch and his younger sister Kelly went into Verispex. Marc’s father was invalided out of service two years ago, losing both his legs to an IED planted by secessionist rebels. The rebels’ direct targeting of government and law enforcement assets in an attempt to destabilise Imperial rule drew the intention of the local Inquisition, and Marc was only too happy to assist them in their investigations. After playing a vital role in locating and apprehending a secessionist cell, Marc was brought to the attention of the inquisitor supervising the investigation – one Eran de Shilo. He was subsequently recruited, given additional training, and maintained as an unofficial agent in de Shilo’s staff. As far as everyone else knew he had simply gone freelance – a cover story that strained relations with his highly dutiful father.

Five years ago, Marc was ordered by de Shilo to join up with Franklin Priest and his group to hunt down Lucius Pembroke, a rogue inquisition agent who unknown to Marc and even de Shilo, was infected with malignant C’tan necrodermis. Despite his inquisition training, Marc quickly found himself in over his head. Another inquisitor, Nasreen Massani, was also after Pembroke and was willing to go through anyone from civilians to hive arbitrators to get at him. Marc’s team barely escaped from Daxos - Massani’s gene-augmented electro priest - to recover Pembroke, and relations within the team itself were frayed due to Marc’s suspicion of one of his associates, ex-arbitrator Arcolin DeRei.

The team’s attempts to escape and find out more about their pursuers resulted in a bloody firefight uphive. Marc was shot and wounded by Major Kadath Al-Omar, Massani’s prime hunter, and had to be evacuated to a Medicae hospice. While he was there, Houseman - another of Massani’s agents - made an attempt on his sister’s life which only failed by pure chance. Things went from bad to worse when Arcolin, also recovering in the hospice, revealed himself as a Tzeentchian cultist and disappeared. Lord Inquisitor Sidonis personally stepped in to resolve the Pembroke case, overruling inquisitor de Shilo on the matter and leaving Marc without orders.

Marc later joined up with - of all people - Major Al-Omar and his associate Westin, who had defected from Massani’s retinue following the uphive incident. Under the impression that Pembroke was secure, and bereft of further orders from his superior, Marc agreed to join Kadath in apprehending inquisitor Massani. Meeting up with Frank at the spaceport, they found themselves in a shootout with Houseman and Daxos, in which Westin and both of Massani’s agents were killed. Marc himself personally shot and killed Houseman, granting himself some degree of closure. Failing to reach Massani’s HQ before Sidonis’ space marines, Marc ran straight into the rogue inquisitor as she attempted to flee the building, and mortally wounded her with Kadath’s Tallarn autopistol. On the other side of the hive Pembroke finally lost his battle with the necrodermis infecting his system, and Marc and the others had to be evacuated while Sidonis levelled Makita Hive from orbit.

With his home destroyed and his cover blown, Marc joined the rest of Frank’s team in transferring to official inquisition service under Lord Sidonis. On the plus side, bringing his affiliation with the Ordos out into the open allowed Marc to reconcile with his father - who has since returned to active duty in Decker Hive, with a pair of high-grade bionic legs paid for by Marc’s share of Pembroke’s bounty. Marc’s sister Kelly, also looking for a new job (not to mention unwilling to let Marc simply bugger off on his own again), has signed up as a member of Sidonis’ verispex team.

Similarly to Kally Sonder, Marc feels that the Pembroke case was left incomplete and during his rare visits back to Solomon he checks every avenue of information he can for signs of Arcolin. So far none have been forthcoming, and right now his attention is focused elsewhere - following the attempted assassination of Dr Taymor, Teleostei's leading specialist in fighting the mysterious plague, he has been withdrawn to orbit with the rest of the team when the operation changed from investigation to full combat. Currently tasked with processing information as it comes in, he is agitated at not being involved on the ground.

Thanks for saving a slot, and Kardar I look forward to Arcolin and Marc bumping into each other again soon... Also sorry about the loooong background section, but if you're looking for a summary of SandQueen's previous RPs, that's the gist of it.

EDIT -

Is Arcolin's knowledge of the agents limited to who was on the ground during Drowning, or is it more comprehensive?

Well, Marc will currently be suited up in carapace with a closed helmet, but Arcolin might recognise the laspistol at his waist...

Once more, to pester SandQueen (Don’t worry, I’ll ask more questions – feel free to drop the bridge at anytime):

Another question about Emerald’s group of scoundrels – would they, at least other than Arcolin (who, it would appear, took out Priest and made a go at Dr. Taymor), have been doing anything for Emerald in the past week/undetermined amount of time the Rogue Trader was on Teleostei? Or could it be assumed the rest of us, the goon squad, were being kept out of sight and mind until necessary. Of course we would know too much, but at least have an idea that something was coming to a boil – but would it be correct to assume we are beyond getting to know you team introductions?

Also, a question regarding the TF-Carbon HQ squad – would there have been other members of the command team? I’d imagine that the section is like a Guard command team – the officer and four assistants/specialists with the optional attached personnel. Considering Roebuck and Kally are more so agents than IST (but cool enough to ride along), and Gavin happens to be the regularly assigned Sanctioned, that should leave out at least three bodies that aren’t along for the ride. Would it be incorrect to assume they are KIA/WIA during the past week or so, or roll with the IST operating a bit differently than Guard command structure?

For kardar: So, Camonna V? Embarrassing, at least for Gavin, I would guess then.

Most of the goon squad has been ordered to keep a low profile or just to run security for Emerald when he's out and about.

And as for the command squad you are it, no additional members.

And it's true that Ky is the type to keep small fluffy animals around, but only if they can be unleashed on unsuspecting people who called her short. Hence her preference for kittens.

You did, lol. But it would be un-officerlike for Kepler to just say "No, you don't get to fly because you're totally nuts." By defaulting to a physical commentary such as "Your chest gets in the way" she maintains dominance and doesn't potentially risk flaring up any potential psychosis.

Depending on genetics and musculature she could be fairly well endowed. Just speaking from personal experience there's a number of ways to win when it comes to gravity and cleavage; particularly bench presses, pull-ups, inverted sit-ups, rowing machines, and a number of yoga positions.

True that. I have a friend who is a centimetre away from being medically classified as a midget, and each of her assets is about the size of her head.

I think I prefer my first mental image for "carapace puppies" though, which was Ky with a toy poodle nestled in the neck of her armour.

Hahahahaha...also, 'ya Valkyries aint' got shit on Bliss. Jansen goin' to show you what's what fo' 'sho.

Gavin nods his head slowly while listening, continuing to do so slightly after Jansen finishes. After a moment the psyker looks up in thought; eyes slightly far away looking and his head tilted to the side a bit. “Well, yes, yes I suppose that would be truthful. The vehicle know as “Bliss”, of which is spoken about, is unconventional as the owner-operator of said machine. Non-standardized and or illegal modifications, in quantity enough to warrant several charges of techno-heresy, have yielded unexpectedly high returns in vehicle performance.”

Gavin pauses slightly for a moment, frowns, and tightens his eyes a bit. “However the subject of your boasting, which would be your flier, is in fact a machine all the same. I have a query about some of the alterations, these being some of your changes, but specifically the safety features.” Following another momentary pause Gavin readjusts himself to look towards Jansen, looking down to cough into his gloved fist before meeting the man’s eyes. “If I were to state hypothetically, as in this likely would not happen, could you recover from a sudden engine failure? For the further sake of this theory; if your flier were to make a water landing, would you happen to have enough floatation devices for all of the embarked passengers?”

(Paint, for a second there I though this was the IC thread because of that post. Funny, but I shall reply nonetheless.)

Jansen smirked at the Psykers comments, which were mostly correct, though the Glavian was a bit confused concerning the comment of Techno Heresy, as most of his mods had been done by a Mechanicus Preist who had done the work under the sanctioned exemption of the inquisition, working in the name of the God-Emperor.

Hearing the psyker out, the Gruff Glavian pilot tried his best to answer his questions.

"Engine Failure could be recovered from, given its running on both the typical thruster and an antigrav spike. If the thrusters cut out speed would be gone, but I would still have lift from the spike and navigation from the maneuvering jets. And again, in the case of water landing, I would adjust the spike to repel off the water and act as a hovercraft until the engine could be repaired." Jansen took a breath and continued.

"If for some reason the vehicle would have to be abandoned, one of the floorplates contains an instantly-inflating raft capable of holding nine individuals, and with straps around its perimeter for the comfort of six more floating, and is fitted with a simple rotary motor with a range of four miles.

Azazeal849
07-31-2011, 08:38 PM
Marc stuck his head round the door into the OOC thread and commented, "Four miles isnae really good enough on an ocean planet is it?"

"Perhaps we could use Kylara's carapace puppies as floatation aids?" suggested Ella, promptly stumbling over the doorframe as her warp-sight failed her, forcing her to grab Marc's arm for support.

"Not sure." Marc mused as he helped the astropath steady herself, "We'd probably get eaten by some of the giant Teleostean fish anyway. You ken, the ones that the city requires giant underwater autocannons to keep away."

Damonique

Well, I anticipated the highest delay for the Inquisitorial group due to there being considerably more members in it, since the time it takes to give ten people(Some of which doubling or tripling character in other groups) a reasonable amount of time to post before puppeting, is obviously greater than the same for a lesser number.

I wasn't suggesting puppeting as an immediate action, but something to do to avoid having to kill anyone off too early once a reasonable amount of time had elapsed.

Hotel Security is a private enterprise, separate from the PDF or Law Enforcement. They don't have any reason to suspect you of anything but there's been a city-wide notification to restrict aerial movement because of the fighting.

Has the insurgency developed any signature methods of attack in their relatively short campaign, and have they actually made any successful attacks in the Green Zone? If they have, would they be big enough for us to have noticed – as it doesn’t seem unreasonable that the local news would be heavily screened by the Inquisition or civil authorities.

Also, what are the chances that the suite would have something like, let’s say… a gas powered oven or other appliances?

I'm not doing it for amusement or entertainment, the character honestly could have contributed to the group and the overall narrative but I also mentioned multiple times why the Agents took a drop pod and even went to far as to address the character in question in inter-character dialogue. I can see no reason what-so-ever to derail from the established narrative this early on especially when I have made it extremely clear that alternative means of transportation are not a viable option.

Sorry if I came off as if I though you were doing it for the funsies, moreso I was entertained by the novelty of a GM actually doing such a thing, in a perfectly justified situation.

I have never, in my career, seen a character killed off without giving the characters creator a redundant number of warnings and sometimes even then the GM just bends over backwards to fit the players mistake. I've always been an advocate of it being necessary for certain characters to be killed off due to their creators general ignorance of the rules and plot.

Also, someone now has the right to make a 'That would be us, if you were in charge.' joke at Jansen upon witnessing the event. Of course, he'll just snark a comeback, but hey, I know at least a few of you are thinking it.

To play Devil’s Advocate on this one - the Inquisitorial Team is on an off the books mission, operating against (even with the best of intentions) orders, and in the middle of a warzone. Sanctioned activity by the Inquisition (the Sons of Plutarch, IST detachment, and who knows what else) is a comparatively heavy presence. So getting out could take a bit more work than waving a Rosette, if the team happens to have one on hand, and claiming a ride back into orbit. Who knows how the Lord Sidonis will favor this mission, its team, and what results they achieve?

Also, this is a SandQueen game. None of us are in for and easy or simple ride.

Azazeal849

What PaintSerf said. Rosettes aren't a problem (Walter has one, Ella has one, and Marc has a signet ring which doubles as a hacking tool) but the AAA was probably set up on lord Sidonis' orders, and he won't be pleased to find out that we're down here. Come to think of it, has Walter actually told the team yet that this is an unsanctioned mission? How would everybody react if he did?

Granted, they might have guessed after he decked the neophyte.

On another note, it's good to see that our two resident sociopaths Arcolin and Merle are getting on so well together :P

Atrum, from what I can tell, the moment we used a Rosette for clearance, would be the moment Sidonis would order us all to arrest ourselves and desist action immediately, if not deny our clearance outright and let us all get blown out of the air.

We need to succeed in our mission, first, so that Brenner has some sort of precedent to pitch to Sidonis when we call for our ride back.

And here we go...

Okie dokie, before I start writing, what is the layout of the apartment we're moving into - especially, how intact is it and how many ways are there to get up and down floors?

There's four apartments per floor and they occupy the corners. Each has a footprint of about 60ft by 60ft. A cross of hallways spread off from the center, each about 20ft wide. At the center is a lift system. At the end of each hallway spoke is a staircase as well.

Awesome. I'm planning to have Ella help Jansen up and Marc try and clear one of the stairwells (probably safer than the lifts, someone upstairs cutting the cables could end that trip real quick...). With help from Alley (just PMing Kardar the now).

Actual post will come later though - it's gone 1am here and I need a bit of sleep...

Haha quite so. That said I do sometimes like to deliberately make characters take wrong decisions (if they're subject to stress or not thinking straight at the time), if it's an opportunity to make the story more interesting. I imagine Marc will get slightly irrational when Arcolin shows up, for example.

True True, also, I think that, psychically, Ella would have been able to feel something when Jansen first got injected before he used the painkillers, because not only was the pain itself enough for psychological trauma, it also brought up his memory of being tortured for five days straight by a team of Inquisition Interrogators, which he's still getting over, psychologically.

But Jansen's not a psychically gifted so there wouldn't be some sort of significant backlash. If serious pain was all it took to alert a sanction psyker then you could never take them anywhere near a pitched battle... they'd go blind.

And even if she did see you go down what's she going to do? Rush a group of armed men and rescue you? She's not a librarian. She's basically Zooey Deschanel with mind powers

Who said anything about a circle?

Jansen weighs what? 160 at minimum before full Load bearing equipment, weapons and armor? And an eviserator is basically a foot wide chainsaw. You jam that up through a floor joist and yank it down and Jansen's coming down from sheer gravity. If it were an even circle he probably wouldn't have busted his ass in a pile of rubble... not as badly at least.

Damonique
08-04-2011, 09:25 PM
Which is why I made it a point that you don't cut through the floor around a particularly large individual wearing a purposefully oversight, loosely-worn duster without something getting caught in the blade.

I had noticed that no longer how I imagined it, unless whoever was holding the Chain-Blade was fucking enormous and cut like a six foot hole around him, Jansen falling back-first though would have the jacket filling pretty much the entire circumference of said hole in the floor.

Also, Though Jansen himself weighs quite a bit, his gear isn't extremely heavy. The Flak Jacket is only protection from basic gunfire(Think Ballistic Vest rather than Armor) and indirect Las-fire(High Surface Area = Dispersion of Heat), but doesn't weigh nearly as much as even the lightest powered armor. And his load-bearing gear is pretty basic. Holsters, sling with Autoshotgun, ammo for the Autoshotgun is just carried in a bag slung by a strap over his shoulder(Which he's probably dropped by now), and Speed-Loaders for his revolvers are stashed in several pockets in his duster.

@ Atrum Daemon - Woah, I've never seen a tech-priest do that before! Just what was Delaz using there?

Atrum Daemon
08-05-2011, 08:46 PM
The tech is similar to that used in melta weapons to create extreme heat by sub-atomic agitation of the air.

It's a special-built integrated weapon that runs off Delaz's own internal power source. As such, it sees rare use and when it is used, it is most often in conjunction with infrasonic dirges like the Rite of Fear to ensure the target cannot flee.

Azazeal849

Atrum Daemon

Rite of Fear is a combat talent in the Warhammer 40k Dark Heresy roleplaying game available only to tech-priests. Doesn't have quite the effect described in my post, but it's pretty close.

Delaz does have the benefit of being a grimdark version of War Machine but the downside is that he's a massive hunk of metal. The missile launcher guy? His weapon locked on to DELAZ. Normally if he was just shooting down a hall there wouldn't have been anything to get a solid lock on but considering that there was a mostly metal beast hanging out near the far stairwell the case was different.

Did Jansen get the snot beat out of him after he rushed the place like an extra in a Michael Bay film? Yes. But he doesn't have to worry about being a viable target for a missile lock either.

SandQueen
08-06-2011, 03:44 AM
I'm glad you're finding this informative.

There's very few things in the 40k realm that are truly overpowered. In the case of Mechanicum operatives (such as Delaz) the more metal and weaponry they pack onto themselves the bigger target they become. Not only do they become physically BIGGER but they have a massive heat signature. So while things like knives and sharpened sticks lose some of their threat they're suddenly a viable target for weaponry that's normally best employed against vehicles. Things like missile launchers for instances.

And Delaz ISNT going to out run a rocket. Not only that but anyone that's near him when it hits its probably dead. Because of his guts being replaced with tubes Delaz might survive the explosion but he'd be missing his legs at least and everyone around him would be in pieces.... so much for asking someone to drag you into cover or to avoid capture...

Ru
08-06-2011, 04:11 AM
This is informative C: For realz! ha ha. I'm having fun comparing this to D&D and noticing the differences between the two of them x3;

That definitely does make sense though, since he is a giant heap of metal, in a sense. O; I pity the foo who is near him when the rocket hits XD

Atrum Daemon
08-06-2011, 04:22 AM
And Delaz ISNT going to out run a rocket.

The question then changes from "can he avoid it" to "can he explode it before it gets in range to damage himself and his companions?"

And I am assuming that the missile IS a true anti-vehicle missile? (IE a krak missile)

Thirty Astartes is definitely overkill, doubly so because they’re First Company, as even the most recently elevated of full Battle Brothers is still hard enough for most. If you haven’t read it, Dan Abnett’s Brothers of the Snake highlights that fact. But consider:

A - The Inquisitorial Team is going against the express orders of a Lord Inquisitor who happens to have a chapter of Astartes ride shotgun with him everywhere. Currently there are +/- 400 Astartes capable of operating in the only city on this planet.

B - Agent Brenner stole a Drop Pod from First Company, and assaulted a neophyte in the process, to get his team down to the surface to conduct their off-book operation. It’s very likely that First Company would want to do this because these, as they would see you, rogue Agents have slighted their honor.

C - Maybe everyone isn’t playing for the same team, perhaps?
