What if, by only signing a contract, your whole past could be erased? What if you could forget it, or take a vacation from it? It's only five years of your life - how much could you miss? Not to mention the vast amounts of money they're offering you on top of solutions to any problematic circumstances in your life! (Debt? Gone! Angry ex boyfriend, who?) You don't have to completely lose yourself, either; the Dollhouse will keep your original personality and memories saved on a highly protected hard drive in their facility, ready for you when your contract is up. Does it sound a little too good to be true? Perhaps it is...

The Dollhouse is a very secret, and very illegal, place where wishes come true. Clients with the right connections and enough money can hire "Actives," people who have been programmed to perfectly fulfill the needs, and desires of their clients. These "engagements" range from romantic interludes to high-risk criminal enterprises.

The Actives are people who have "chosen," for their own reasons, to surrender their bodies and minds for a five-year stay in the Dollhouse. They're typically young people with problems and a past they don't want catching up with them that have either been approached by the Dollhouse Director or somehow found the Dollhouse by themselves. After signing their contract with the Dollhouse, they disappear completely. Loved ones may have their memories, thugs may hunt for them, but to law enforcement and similar organizations, they are nameless, faceless, and like ghosts. Each Active has their original memories wiped and exists in a child-like blank state until they are imprinted with any personality, skill, or even muscle memory. They can be the perfect companion, lover, spy, assassin; and when the job is done they forget everything and everyone.

At least, that's what is supposed to happen. Every wipe is supposed to be clean, completely removing memories of the engagement from the Active's mind and reinforcing the implanted active architecture. In a few, rare, instances this isn't always what happens; sometimes, a few memories, a little of the personality, the person, remains, buried, but lying underneath.

Fox has numerous tattoos that she acquired before entering the Dollhouse. They are located on her chest, above her breasts, on her pelvis, inner forearm and upper arm.
"We can make Santiago disappear. We can make the fifty thousand dollar debt disappear. Isn't that what you came to us for?" The British woman peered down at Valkyrie as she looked over the contract. There didn't appear to be anything amiss. Maybe that was why it bothered her so much. Working for Umbrella didn't seem too wrong. A five year contract, two million dollars for "compensation," and a clean start at life when the contract was up? She pursed her lips and smoothed the papers on the tabletop. "And you can rehabilitate me as well?" She asked, trying to still her shaking hands. "You will be as clean as the day you were born," she promised. The weed and alcohol was fine, it really was. She could handle the high, and wasn't a particularly violent or depressed drunk, but the crack and cocaine had mixed her up with the wrong people and had taken a violent toll on her body.

"Perfect." The foreign woman gathered the signed papers and placed them neatly in a folder. "Any further questions?" Lucas thought carefully before answering. He knew he had already asked the following but he wanted to make sure one more time. It all seemed too unreal for him to put full belief into. "Are you positive I can start a new blank slate after the five years are up?" There were the typical depts, addictions, and relationships he wanted to be rid of. The money offer was something impossible for him to resist considering he lived in a small apartment with his parents and several younger siblings. The lady in front of him nodded at his question as she began buckling up her briefcase. Lucas thanked her, trying his best not to get overemotional about this.

Lol, ok, guys - not every one needs a drug addiction and sky-high debts. XD Let's address that first. The drug addictions, debts, bad relationships, et cetera, were mostly examples; they can be part of what your character is running from, but let us flex our creativity a little, okay? :)

Second, Code names are to be chosen from the NATO phonetic alphabet; they are not nicknames.

Twi, you are accepted - just be aware that your character's lip piercings will be removed in the Dollhouse, so maybe mention scars? Or if it's required for a certain Engagement, you can work them in again, okay?

Kita & Love, until you revise your character sheets after reading the above statements, I'm afraid I cannot accept you into this roleplay.

Also, I'd like everyone to be aware of the fact that your "Hard drive" (history, etc) is sort of like your portfolio - make it a bit impressive, a taste of your writing. :)

Distinguishing features/characteristics: Andy is of average height, and slim build, with a longish face and blue eyes. He wears his his hair short. He has very unsightly scars all down his left leg, and walks with a limp that is only really noticeable if he is tired or cramped.

A loud crack that resembles a gunshot makes him feel very uncomfortable, though not to the point of shell-shock. He smokes, drinks alcohol and uses marijuana, though he can do without any of them if need be.

He speaks with a Cockney (working class London) accent.

At this, the 21-year-old's heart started to beat faster. All of it gone? Something told her it was her best choice, while the other part of her said to walk away. But how could she? Ever since the first time she felt her hands wrap around the man's neck, feeling the broken bones and hearing the sickening snap, she had had a horrible addiction to the power. The feeling that she could kill them in a second and they couldn't do anything. It was addicting, like cocaine. She scared herself, disgusted herself, but she liked knowing she was powerful, she wasn't helpless and small.
"A c-clean slate?" she asked, having a hard time steadying her wavering voice.
"None of it ever happened."
"But the police. They're after me... All those people..."
"Accidental deaths. Heart attack three years ago killed your father. Last month your brother was in a terrible car crash, the same one that killed your neighbor and boyfriend." The woman who sat across from her spoke as if she were reading off a list she had practiced to herself in the mirror, "That man from Coney Island went MIA, friends sister had a blood clot, younger sister..."
She interrupted the woman, "that one was an accident,"
She just pursed her lips and raised one eyebrow, "Of course it was," but she didn't sound like she agreed, "It will all be gone and you come out of it with money, lots of it."
"And?"
"You know the rest."
"And I'll be fine afterward?" she asked slowly, taking it all in as she lit a cigar. She slowly slipped the lighter back into her back pocket and took a drag.
"We give you one offer and you can take it or leave it," the woman added blankly, ignoring her question.
"Alright," 'Besides, what are my other choices?' and she knew it was true. If she didn't take it, the police would eventually find her. She wouldn't do well in jail.
"Welcome to the doll house."
Opening her mouth to give a snarky, sharp retort, she found herself simply saying one word. "Thanks," maybe she had gotten lucky. Maybe it would really work. Maybe. But every time life shot maybe her way, it gave her another wound that left a deep scar. ||

It's been nearly three hours since Catherine escaped the attic - a prison where she was held for just over a year now. Surely Dan will have noticed by now, and is probably already scouring the city streets for his 'pet'. Now Catherine sits across from the woman who brought her to this desolate factory building.
"And he will never find me? I will be free?" Catherine asks, eyes darting back and forth, exploring the woman's face.
"Yes. You will be free, and he will never find you. Just five years with us and all of your fears will have dissipated," the woman with the British accent responds.
Catherine takes the contract and the pen from the table, and hurriedly signs her name as tears fill her eyes.
"Welcome aboard, Charlie."

I was watching an old rerun of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and searching through rps on here and found this roleplay. That reminded me of how Eliza Dushku played whats-her-name in Dollhouse and also played Faith in BTVS and so I wanted tojoin. Well, I was thinking of how my character was going to look and then I saw Dawn, played by Michelle T. and was like, "Oh, well, she's perfect for me character :D"

Ben is roughly 6'0", 185 lb. He has blonde hair and blue eyes as well, so he would have been a perfect candidate for the Nazi SS. He lacks scars or other similar ailments, and has no tattoos. His hair is always worn short and professional. He does have facial hair, which he keeps trimmed so that it is very thin. Ben always wears suits, usually three-pieces. Also, as he is the head of security, he always has on his person his trusty SIG Sauer P239 (http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1385/1252171223_1841a97b2b.jpg) in .357SIG.

Ben's accent is that of a more upper-class Londoner, though it more closely resembles received pronunciation. Thanks to his parents and the location of his birth, Ben enjoys dual US/British citizenship.


The woman with whom Ben had worked with for the past three years seemed elated today, and he was pretty sure he knew why. It was time to look for a new Head of Security, since the old one had recently retired. And seeing as he was the only one who had been called up to the woman's office today, Ben was fairly sure that he knew who the new figure was going to be.

"Mr. Hertz, thank you for rushing up on such short notice," muttered the woman, her near-stereotypical British accent masking any signs of real emotion. She was pouring tea, also stereotypical. Or was that coffee?

"That's my job, ma'am," Benjamin replied, his own accent achieving a similar effect to hers, "What's this about? Yankee is about to be sent out right now, I need to get back to her."

The woman smiled, probably a fake smile, but nonetheless, and spoke again, "You care a great deal for Yankee, don't you, Benjamin?"

"Yes I do."

She nodded slightly, extending a small cup full of the liquid, "You are aware that Mr. Yule has retired, yes?"

Ben accepted the cup and placed it to his mouth. It was definitely tea. His attention moved from the cup back to the woman, "Yes, I am."

The woman turned her back to him and walked over to her desk and picked up a folder, which she tossed onto a small glass table next to Ben. He walked over to it and opened it, revealing a long list of names and qualifications.

The Brit interrupted his reading, "That is a list of qualified replacements, all of whom I am expected to interview and research. However, I feel that since this is my house, it would be best to have someone I know and trust in such a powerful position. Someone who has been here for a little while. I don't want my right-hand man to be some fool that I recruited because he did well when he was a policeman."

"Have anyone in particular in mind, ma'am?"

Another laugh answered this, this time a real laugh, "Don't play stupid and modest with me, Benjamin. Everyone in the house knows that you are the lead candidate. Former MI5, FBI, Secret Service, Handler... If you want the job, it's yours."

Having finished his tea, Ben placed the cup on the table next to the folder. His left hand moved to his face and began rubbing his cheek, a habbit that he had picked up as a child, something that he did when he was thinking. After a brief pause, he replied, "And what of Yankee?"

"Always the father. "Yankee's" contract is up tomorrow. You will supervise her today on her final engagement."

There was another pause, more thought, and Ben erected his posture and clasped his hands behind his back. "I'll take the job."

Sophie is 5'6", 110 lb. She has almost golden blonde hair and blue eyes, as well as perfect skin. She takes pride in maintaining a beautiful appearance, so she is always clean and tidy. Her dress tends more towards formal, even while she is not working. Her preferred weapon, which she carries while "handling" her active, is the Smith&Wesson M&P9 (http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/images/38991.jpg).

​"Since you've worked with the Dollhouse before, I believe we should skip the basics and simply show you how our operation works," said the man. His British accent was thick, but formal and easily understandable. Sophie had just recently been introduced to him, a Mr. Hertz, the Head of Security hired just last week. Usually the Director would give the introduction to the house, but Sophie understood that one in that position was generally busy.

Sophie followed the man up a small flight of stairs to the imprint room. He pointed briefly to the chair, "That's where the magic's done. I wont bore you with details, you know how it works. Bring the dolls up here, wipe them, "Time for a treatment, did I fall asleep, shall I go now", all that. You worked at the Los Angeles Dollhouse, did you not?"

"Yes," replied Sophie, crossing her arms and glancing at the chair, "But the charming Miss DeWitt made short work of that. She didn't appreciate my opinions about the dolls."

Ben grinned, "I've heard many stories of her. So, your doll's designation is "Zero", real name is Everest, she's our youngest active. You were a handler, so you know the procedures. Bring them up here, programmer puts the personality in, you watch over them on engagements, bring them back, wipe them, the end. Any problems along the way, you call the House and we'll have an assault team deployed in under five minutes."

The imprint room was similar to the other that Sophie had seen. There were computers, lots of them, servers, hard drives, and, of course, the chair. She paced the room briefly before proceeding to the window overlooking the living quarters, "It's amazing how much we spend on making them comfortable."

"What is amazing about it?"

Sophie's expression became one of anger, "They're all blank, empty. Tabula rasa. We could simply stack them all up in sleeping chambers, make this spa into a warehouse."

"They're people, Miss Fleur," responded Ben, hiding any emotion behind his fancy accent and formality.
