The Story
Every Christmas Eve, as the children of the world sleep, the jolly Santa Claus rides in his sleigh through the night sky, leaving presents for the good little boys and girls throughout the world as he passes them by. Nearly every child of the world remembers the legend fondly, eagerly awaiting Santa's arrival every year as young and old alike learn from his example of charity and giving. But this year, one man's jealousy and greed threatens to undo Christmas as we know it once and for all. This man is Vladimir Morozko, better known to the world as Old Man Winter or Jack Frost.

But perhaps it would be better to start from the beginning...

Long ago, before Santa Claus was a worldwide legend, he was a simple boy who stumbled on the Fey Valley in the North Pole - home of the elves - purely by accident. He grew to admire the elves' tradition of making gifts and secretly leaving them for humans to find, but more importantly, a wise elderly elf offered him a mystical pendant called the True Gift, which would unlock the hidden gifts within any who hold the pendant and speak the words engraved on it, thereby granting them abilities such that humans could otherwise only dream of. After this encounter, Santa Claus returned home and grew to adulthood, eventually winning the heart of a lady named Serena Weston, who would later become his Mrs. Claus. Not long after their wedding, Santa shared with Serena the secret of the True Gift and later decided to return to the Fey Valley with her, wanting to build a workshop there where the elves could make their toys and gifts year-round, and every Christmas Eve Santa would deliver the elves' gifts to the good children throughout the entire world. This tradition has continued on ever since, and all seemed well until now.

But unknown to either the Clauses or the elves, Vladimir Morozko - a previous suitor whom Serena had turned down - never forgot his love for Serena, which twisted into a mad obsession after Serena rejected him. Nearly dying in a powerful blizzard while following the pair to the North Pole, Morozko survived when he discovered a magic sword that granted him the ability to control ice, cold, and snow. Armed with this power, Morozko caught Santa Claus unawares and kidnapped his rival, but not before hearing word of the mysterious True Gift. Morozko demanded that Santa give him the True Gift, attempting to take it by force when he refused, but a young elf witnessed the kidnapping and fled the North Pole to find help, taking the True Gift with him.

With Santa Claus nowhere to be found, Mrs. Claus is now trying desperately to keep his Christmas tradition alive in his absence, unaware of the threat posed by Morozko to everything Santa envisioned for the holiday season. Meanwhile, the brave young elf who escaped with the True Gift has arrived in Manhattan, New York, where he wanders the unfamiliar streets and tall buildings in search of a few good souls willing to help save Christmas, all the while evading Morozko's minions as they continue to hunt him down.

The fate of the Christmas season depends on their efforts, now more than ever...

RP Rules
Standard rules include no godmoding, no powerplaying, and third-person story format only. In order to ensure literacy and proper handling of these rules, all character requests must include an RP sample for said character(s) of no less than two paragraphs.

Also, this is an PG-rated RP. In terms of the RP this means that, apart from sequences of minor fantasy violence, you may not post anything on this thread that you wouldn't want a young child to read. This is not hard to do as long as you keep your mind out of the gutter, avoid cussing, and keep gore and violence to a minimum.

Regarding inactivity (which I hope will not be a problem), if you do not reply on the IC thread within a week (7 days) of your last post, I will PM you with a warning message. If you do not post or give me some kind of explanation or response within a week after this warning is sent, you will be removed from the RP. Simple as that.

And finally, powers granted to a character by the True Gift must be somehow relatable to the True Gift as stated in the character's profile. For example, Mrs. Claus (see Adoptables) has the true gift of Wisdom, and this is often reflected in her visions. Likewise, Timothy Tweedle's true gift is Cheerfulness, which is what allows him to fly. If two people happen to have the same true gift, they do not necessarily have to have the exact same power(s), but each of their power(s) must be connected somehow to their true gift.

Personality: Every bit as cheerful and optimistic as the stories say. He holds a great deal of respect for the elves, and despite his often-jolly demeanor he does tend to be more cunning than most people would give him credit for.
Bio: Very little is known of Santa's past before he became Father Christmas. As a little boy, he stumbled upon the elves purely by accident one night after seeing one of them leave a small toy in his room. Curious, he secretly followed the elf through a magical portal that led directly to the Fey Valley; a small village in the North Pole where the elves lived. There he saw many other elves, all busily making toys and other gifts and leaving them for human children to find the next day. The elves' tradition of leaving gifts for children amazed him, but in his excitement, it wasn't long before the other elves spotted him. Having never seen a human in the Fey Valley before, the elves were terrified at first, until one of the elder elves came forward and examined the boy. The elder then motioned for the boy to follow him, claiming that he sensed a strong gift within the boy, and gave him a beautiful emerald pendant that the elves called the True Gift before he was returned home.
The young boy's life and demeanor changed greatly since this encounter with the elves, and especially with the mysterious True Gift. As the years passed, he found himself more and more compelled to give and to help others whenever there was an opportunity, eventually meeting the future Mrs. Claus at one such event. He visited the elves once again as an adult and, recalling their tradition of making and leaving gifts for children, offered to build a workshop in the Fey Valley where the elves could make their gifts year-round and then give them out every year to every child in the world. Excited at the prospect, the elves agreed and proceeded to build the new workshop, and before long the workshop was fully operational. Since then, the elves have been working happily at Santa's workshop year-round in preparation for Christmas Eve, when Santa himself uses the elves' magic to travel the entire world and leave the elves' gifts for the good children of the world.

Personality: Gentle and friendly with virtually everyone she meets, and quick to take action whenever and wherever she is needed. For the most part she is content with playing a vital, but unassuming position in her husband's affairs, but she will assume a leadership role if need be.
Bio: The daughter of a wealthy physician and a stay-at-home mother, Serena Weston grew up with a passion for helping others, ultimately finding employment as a nurse in the hospital where her father worked. Serena, however, became somewhat disillusioned as she came to realize that the doctors there actually cared little for their patients, even turning away the seriously ill or injured because their families could not afford to pay for proper medical treatment, and any attempts on her part to change this system was met with ridicule from her male employers.
Serena would meet the future Santa Claus at a masquerade ball hosted by her father, and they bonded almost immediately when Serena confided in him her frustrations with the hospital's treatment of patients who could not pay the doctors. He agreed with Serena wholeheartedly, much to her surprise, and before long she discovered that he had begun raising money to help pay for medical treatment for those who otherwise could not afford it. Serena was impressed by his efforts and donated her wages as a nurse to the cause, thrilled to be truly making a difference in the community. Their relationship continued to grow stronger from there, and they were ultimately married.
Not long after the marriage, Santa told Serena his story of visiting the elves as a child and receiving the True Gift. Upon holding the pendant and reading the inscription aloud for the first time, Serena felt a strange energy coming over her, which Santa claimed was exactly what had happened to him when he first held the True Gift. Since then she realized that she could briefly glimpse into the future, and it was at this point that Santa told her of his intentions to build a workshop in the North Pole and help the elves to make and deliver gifts throughout the entire world. At first Serena was reluctant to leave her home while there were still so many in need, but changed her mind after receiving a vision of Santa spreading cheer and happiness in the world every year with each delivery, and of a great many people opening their hearts and giving to those in need as a result of this. This prospect excited Serena, and she has been a faithful supporter of Santa Claus and of Christmas ever since.
Other Notes: Following Santa Claus' disappearance, Serena has been hard at work keeping Christmas on track in her husband's absence.

Personality: Bitter and vengeful for even the slightest provocation. He has unrequited feelings for Serena Weston, now Mrs. Claus, from his days as a mortal man, and is consequently jealous of Santa and resentful toward Christmas.
Bio: Born to a Russian ambassador, Vladimir learned from an early age that one's power and influence within a given community would ultimately affect how others treated you, and so he accompanied his father to several charity events in town, though in reality he gave little thought to the causes of these charities. As a young man, he visited one such event at the local hospital and was instantly smitten with one of the nurses there: a young lady named Serena Weston. Serena, however, showed no real interest in Vladimir, especially after realizing that his charitable work was only a facade designed to bolster his public image. Undeterred, Vladimir continued to try to woo Serena, even after she fell in love with a commoner by the name of Claus. When she finally married this man and became Mrs. Claus, Vladimir's jealousy of Claus reached its peak, and Vladimir became determined to eliminate his rival and claim Serena for himself.
Eventually, when Santa Claus returned to the Fey Valley with Serena to start building his workshop, Vladimir followed them in secret, but a blizzard set in soon afterward and he lost track of the couple. Vladimir nearly froze to death in the blizzard, but moments before he would have perished, his hand unwittingly touched the hilt of a mysterious sword partially buried in the snow. Clutching the handle of the sword in his hand, Vladimir soon realized that the bitter cold no longer affected him, and as he rose to his feet he discovered that he could control the blizzard itself, lessening it to a halt with only a thought.
Since then, Vladimir Morozko, now known as Old Man Winter or Jack Frost, has wandered the harsh terrain surrounding the Fey Valley, waiting for his chance to strike at Santa Claus and undermine his precious Christmas once and for all.
Other Notes: Vladimir has only recently heard of the True Gift, and now seeks to find it and use its power for his own purposes.

Bio: It was Timothy's grandfather Samuel who originally gave a young Santa the True Gift. When Santa returned to the Fey Valley years later, intent on building a workshop to deliver the elves' gifts to the children of the world, Samuel was among the first of the elves to offer their services to the cause, later taking on his grandson Timothy as his apprentice. Timothy has since come to take a great deal of joy in his work at Santa's workshop.
Other Notes: More recently, Timothy witnessed as the envious Morozko attacked and kidnapped Santa Claus, but was spotted by Morozko himself not long after the fact. Running away from the scene in terror, Timothy has since fled the North Pole courtesy of Rudolph, and is now wandering the unfamiliar streets of Manhattan in search of help.

Personality: Very bold and outgoing, Lamb is a silly girl, she likes to do funny things and make people laugh. She's one big entertainer, she loves entertaining her friends and giving them a good time. Lamb also has no shame in anything, she knows her life is going down the wrong path, and that people might shake their head at the decisions she makes, but she's the type who will only listen to advice when she asked for it, too bad she never ask for it!
Bio: When lamb was born, she was placed at an orphanage immediately after, with no knowledge of who her real parents are. It was just the luck of the draw for why she never got adopted, for she was a very nice little girl when much younger; however, during around the age of seven, Lamb started doing bad things, first it started small, like stealing snacks, or breaking toys, then it turned into going against the staff of the orphanage; staying up too late, eating sweets before dinner, picking up little animals off the streets. Soon, she started to influence the other little children, dragging them along with her little pranks and tricks; the orphanage was quickly becoming that of a zoo. “Santa will bring you coal in your stockings”, the adults had warned her, but Lamb didn't believe them, Santa was a good guy, who liked all children, no matter what they did, he'd give them the presents they'd ask for, even if they've been “naughty”, because he loves them; this was Lambs feelings. The adults were just trying to scare her off, however, come her ninth Christmas, Lamb received her first lump of coal, and nothing else. This scared the children senseless, and they stopped following Lamb's influence, Lamb, too, was even shocked to receive the black mineral, and tried to clean up her act come next year. Though, her form of “cleaning up her act” was that of doing things where the adults wouldn't be able to see. Lamb had tried at time, but sometimes the only way to get up in life was to be a little naughty—some situations really did call for it—however, Santa obviously didn't think so when come next Christmas, he gave her another lump of coal! Well, Santa obviously didn't care much for children like the stories said he did, did he? Lamb was scornful, she had really tried that first year, sure she had done some bad things, like backtalk, or not finish her homework, or even break a few dishes, but all that stuff was something she couldn't avoid. Fine, then, Lamb was just going to continue being herself, since nothing she'll ever do would get Santa to bring her presents again! Growing older, Lamb may have been a little bit too rebellious, and found herself with the expulsion of high school, and expulsion from the orphanage.
Other Notes: Lamb is currently living in a women and children homeless shelter, where she help babysit the children as the mothers go job hunting, however, she hates the holidays, and constantly tell the children bad, often frightening, stories of Santa Clause.

But since Timothy is mostly wandering Manhattan in search of help at the moment, maybe she could manipulate him into letting her use the True Gift and thus give her her powers, and then we can go from there. What do you think?

Personality: Very kind and gentle-hearted as she is know for being a Saint for some. Luci loves helping out the Claus’ out in any way in preparation for Christmas.
Bio: Born somewhere in Sweden, Lucia’s Christmas spirit was what saved her when her fiancé after discovering she gave her dowry to the poor and food to the innocently prosecuted Christians. Killed her by blinding, and stabbing the woman; The Christmas Spirit as well as Santa Claus took her to Fey Valley to live eternity there, as she was before her death; to help the Claus spread the love and joy of Christmas around the world. A great cook, she loved to help Mrs. Serena Claus bake up a storm for everyone deserving in the valley. Also not shying away from confrontations with anyone who’d wish to change what they do now and have been for ages of ages. Helping othersand doing good is the greatest joy and fulfillment to her.
Other Notes: Luci wears a green wreath that glows brightly most times to keep the North Star glowing brightly, the brightness can vary upon the feeling of her heart.

Personality: Where she may not exactly have a warm heart, she is very reasonable and respectful of those who have earned such. An overall warm personality she is conflicted between siding with Jack Frost who’s been a father to her and the Claus’ deeds to spread Christmas spirit. Alek does get very lonely in the valley always willing to bring lost men to her castle for company of a warm blooded soul.
Bio: Her mother died very young so her and her father were very close. Years passed and her father re-married to a very jealous woman with her own daughter. Ordering Alek to do anything and everything no matter how cruel or harsh. That’s where her cold heart began to grow having no sympathy to those who don’t respect and mistreat others.

One day the woman having become insanely jealous of her step-daughter’s beauty and determination which always stole her father’s love. Ordered her husband to take his daughter far out into the winter’s cold and leave her there to freeze to death. Very saddened, he did as his wife commanded and took his only daughter in their sleigh, traveling for a long time before they stopped. Knowing what was going on as she always knew about her step-mother’s jealous rampages. Alek did as her father said and stayed put standing with only the clothes she wore as he left saddened back to their home.

Hours passed and she was very cold and skin kissed with the beginnings of frost when then Morozko (the Father Frost), leaping from tree to tree, came upon her. "Are you warm, my lass?" he asked.

"Welcome, my dear Morozko. Yes, I am quite warm," she said, even though she was cold through and through. At first, Morozko had wanted to freeze the life out of her with his icy grip. But he admired the young girl's heart seeing the portion that was still warm and cold and showed mercy. Offering to take her under his wing as his own daughter so that she may live forever and see her true father at the beginning of each winter until his mortal time ends. Because her heart stayed exactly the same, mostly warm though having cold inside as well. She was given part of the true gift from the Claus’ when first introduced to Fey Valley.


Other Notes: Because of Alek’s occasional loneliness; her kisses are very dangerous. One kiss to a human man numbs him from the cold, the second time to cause him to forget about his family. The third kiss would kill any mortal man dead in his tracks.

Your profile for the Ice Queen is also excellent, but before I accept her, I wanted to clarify something. The True Gift section of your profile can and should relate to your character's powers, but it is not a power in and of itself. Lucia's True Gift section is okay, because Light and Vision are related to her powers and abilities in general, but in IQ's case, her clairvoyance would go in the Powers section, not the True Gift section.

In light of her clairvoyance, and based on your description of it, I'm inclined to believe that her True Gift would be Insight or Intuition, depending on what you decide. Of course, what you put as her True Gift is up to you, but you get the idea.

This was the exact same thing I was thinking. I don't know if you're okay with it, but I was planning to make her team up with everybody, then end up betraying them later on (preferably very early on, maybe right when he gets them to North Pole) so she could have a way to go off to find Jack Frost and the Ice Queen. Only because she's not terribly evil right now, just that once she hears about Santa, she's really going to go sour (thinking he got what he deserved or something); I made her true sight compassion because I wanted her to be misguided and have sympathy for Jack Frost motives be the reason to fuel her to help. Also Timothy could probably run into her first, as she's a child of the streets now, and watching over homeless kids, she might mistake him for one. Just a thought, tell me what you think of all this!

Appearance:stands at a good 5'7'', weighs 153lbs. Has tan skin short, slightly spiky, snow white hair, and white pupils. On his lower back he has a large scar that runs across his right shoulder blade down to his left lower back.Almost habitually he weirs dark colors to try and balance out his hair and eyes. Usually sports a black t-shirt, and a grey long sleeve shirt underneath. He usually weirs black cargo pants, and all black Nike's. On his head, a black bucket hat and sun glasses. Good luck trying to catch him without his hat on.

Personality:he is usually a bit high strung. a no nonsense type of jo(e). But there are times when his is friendly to anyone, just don’t bother him while he's working on something. Then again, good luck trying to separate him from something he has his complete attention on. He hates having a lot of attention on him. Catch him at the moment and you could swear he escaped from the insane asylum… (major ADHD)

Bio:when he was born he had black hair and dark brown pupils, but after a near death experience while on a trip with his middle school, the color in his hair and eyes began to dull until they were both as white as snow. Doctors say that they have no explanation for why. Ever since then he’s been in and out of doctors offices, as they tried to figure out the reason behind the color change. When he turned 13 he refused to go to the doctor’s office to be examined for something that didn’t have any substantial side effects. After that he lived life as normal but still hates the mention of his hair or eyes.

Other Notes:has ADHD the inward distractable kind. if you leave him alone too long he float into his own world, might even start thinking out loud. and when hi fixates on something (especialy if he doesnt like it) it will be come his obsesion for a while. DO NOT make a big deal about his white hair, eyes or the scar on his back if you see it. (and by do not, i mean use what ever excuse you cn to bring them up. for the lols.)

Personality: Aidan is quite fake in normal conversation, his thoughts are 10x as cynical as the next person's and he is constantly in doubt of anything good being able to come from his so-called, "pathetic existence." His looks are charming enough, but allows nobody to break down his barriers and become close to him to find out his terrible thoughts. Aidan wastes his days at home with a forlorn look upon his face, and when the holidays come around, he is even darker and more deceptive, anxious to trap anybody with his words and laugh at them. Aidan lacks much creativity, but compensates with his sharp tongue.

Bio: Miller was a small weakling from birth, always sick, always feeble. When it came down to it, he had to talk his way out of any situation involving physical activity, and so he did. Aidan became the master of this, soon, however. His parent were of no help in anything, neither punishing nor rewarding, but always threatening to do something. In his personality parental rebellion, the boy always did what he threatened, and was quick about it. Although he still reaches for it, Aidan is as close to true objectivity as you will find anywhere. He hopes to someday become a corporate bastard and do spamming on the side.

Appearance: Short black hair, and green eyes. She is tiny and thin in build, and is always smiling.
Personality: Melody is very outgoing, cheerful, and does her work quickly, and well. She sings and dances where she goes, but can be silent when wanted, or needed. Her Bravery shows when she takes Santa's true gift and flees, trying to hide it from al evil. But more on that later.
Bio: Melody was born and raised an elf in the North Pole. Her family, not poor by any standards, but not rich either, were all toy makers, and Melody dreamed that one day, she too could be a toy maker. She was on her way to deliver a box of dolls to the packaging branch, when she heard fighting. She quietly slipped away The True Gift, and now is hiding out in her great-grandfather's cabin.

However, we could say that Melody also witnessed the kidnapping and fled with Timothy from the North Pole, in which case they could act as partners. How does that sound?

Okay. I just found out that my cousin and his family will be coming over tomorrow morning, so I may be slow in getting the IC up, but if we could get a temporary volunteer then I'll definitely be happy to start the IC from there.
