Sometimes, things get lost.

Big things.

Sometimes those things are ships, and they have people in them.

In the closing years of the Scorrat-UCC war, the colony ship Argo made its final jump. Blind, damaged and pursued, she arrived in an uncharted system, in an uninhabited sector of the galaxy, bearing a cargo of 15 million cryogenically frozen colonists, 1.5 megatons of colonial equipment, and a small contingent of navy officers, Colonial Marines, 6 fighter craft, and several items vital to humanities war effort.

With their jump drive destroyed and their location, and time they had arrived, unsure, the colonists settled in for the long haul. They built new towns and cities. They constructed new ships, settled this rich Sanatana system, and mined its resources as best they could. But they hadn't escaped the war, it followed them like a hound on the chase. A small scorrat force settled into the outer reaches, and made woe and pain for the struggling colonists.

Two hundred and fifty years later the system faces a new phase of war and bloodshed. Alien horrors and human reavers prowl the inky black, as the Colonial Authority and the Independent Alliance square off for control of the system. In the middle of it all mercenaries, guns for hire, make their way as best they can, some holding the balance of power over life and death in their hands, some just tryin' to get by.

This is their story.

This looks like a great game. Why not submit it for Roleplay of the Week (http://www.role-player.net/forum/showthread.php?t=905) or put it in the Roleplaying Games Directory (http://www.role-player.net/forum/showthread.php?t=2304) or click here (http://www.role-player.net/forum/showthread.php?t=3975) to help attract players?

This looks like a fun game. I'll submit a character later after I've read through all the supporting background material.

EDIT: Does Medifoam count against gear limits? The forum doesn't say what equipment gets what kind of chip except very basically.

History: Born in a hospital on Lakshmi , mother died in childbirth. Anna's two older sisters and herself wound up in Momma Maxwell's Creche. Momma Maxwell was a notorious glutton with a scarred face - and necrophobia after being trapped in a collapsed building with several dead bodies for days after a Scorrat raid.

When Anna was 11, she became fast friends with a very wealthy boy her own age - Jeremy. He fixed it with his parents to bring her back to Saraswati as a playmate. However, the doctor doing her exit medical examination had a glitch in his system, the child got mistake for a test subject and received some strange injection. To this day, she has no idea what she was given or what it may do to her.

When Anna was 16, she learned how to pick locks and pockets from an elderly neighbor. At 18, she got caught in a gun battle between local police and criminals. A bullet hit her right arm, which EMTs later patched with medifoam.

Anna joined the Navy at 19, where she scored high on her tests and qualified for Field Technician Training. But despite being assigned to a support unit, they frequently found themselves in the middle of a pitched battle. They managed to survived skirmishes with only minor casualties - and then one day during her second tour the unit's luck ran out. She was the only survivor.

Anna was in recovery for months. To keep herself occupied, she took up gourmet cooking where she learned a few tricks that would even jazz up combat ration packs.

When she got separated from the service, she found herself a tidy technician's job, but ran into some financial hardships following a raid so decided to take up mercenary work to help meet the bills.

Awesome. I love the character. Have a digital hug: :killhug:

I'll need a few more players before I feel like running this, however, so if you know anyone up for it give them a poke.

I'm glad you like her! ^ _ ^

Does medifoam count against the equipment limit of five that you can carry with your backpack? The site you're linking to doesn't do registrations at the moment and I'm not sure which poker chip gets applied to it.

medifoam, ammunition and other sundries doesn't count against carry limits, which is really a mechanic to stop people wandering of with the monster crews guns and selling them, leaving the monster crews disarmed. I wouldn't worry about those particular mechanics for a play by post forum game, however.

Sounds pretty interesting, i've always had a thing for sci-fi (being the geeky cousin of fantasy ^_^) sounds like it has some roots in one of my favourite sci-fi books too (Don't know if you read The Forever War) so i can grasp the scene quite well too. I'll come back with a character build if you're interested in having a newbie on the team.

Character Name: Ryan Huntington
Player Username: BAWADABOO
Age: 31
Affiliation: AFU Merc
Designated role: Special Operations
Weapons: 1S-RSA/02 'Element' Pistol, CC-FLR/66 'Longshot' Rifle, Combat Knife
Gear: Concussion Grenades (3), EOD Kit, Mesh Armor, Medipacks (2)
Skills: Ryan Is very skilled at inflitration. He usually takes jobs where he must break into high security facilities. He is good at being unnocticeable, and likes to think of himself as a current day ninja.
History: Ryan Was born in constitution city.He was always quick and quiet. As a child he was that kid that sat in the corner and didn't talk to people. He liked to hide from people, and developed an odd excitement for spying. He didn't spy in any creepy way, no peeping tom situations or anything, he just liked to find out secrets.

When he was around sixteen he began getting more and more into this hobby. He ended up breaking into a semi-important government officials office. He was caught by a guard and was almost immediately sent to a juvenile detention center. While there, he realized that he would need to toughen up or he would be as good as dead. Evidently he learned to defend himself, after getting pounded into dust by nearly every criminal there.

He was released when he was around 20. He created a secretive P.I agency out of his basement, mostly catering to people who thought their significant other was unfaithful, but it was good money.

Eventually he was contacted by a more powerful agency after they heard of his stealth prowess. He was hired to track down a government leader and steal some documents from a safe in his office. The plan went off without a hitch and from that moment on, a good number of Ryans jobs come from government agencies and high profile clients.

its good to see there is still some interest for this, even if its on a bit of a slow burn. If we can get 2-3 more players we'd be good to start.
