Renaissance: Battle against the Machine(OOC/WIP)

Five centuries ago....

Our world ended.....

And began anew....

We thought we could control it.....we thought it as the beginning of a new age. we were wrong.....

In our blind pursuit of science and technology. we opened the Pandora's Box....

A Supercomputer, at first was created to help the world. it however became self-aware and revolted against its creators. it desired power, to rule the world and the organics rather then serve. in a way, it went "Mad".

War came as it created vast armies of machines. and took control of our missile defenses. hundreds upon hundreds of cities were destroyed in the attack. as thousands of missiles descended upon our settlements.

In the aftermath....it's armies moved into the ruins, killing survivors. the nations barely had time to react or fight back against the invasion. our world quickly fell to the grip to the Legion of the Iron Fist as they came to call themselves.

Centuries had passed since the "Great Eradication". we continue our struggle against the Legion. few City States were established from the husk that was once Civilization.

As our war wages...something has changed.....in the last one hundred years. the Legion begun taking prisoners. herding people in camps and facilities like animals. we had no clue of their intentions at first....until action was taken.

Commandos had raided what appeared to be a Research Facility. we then realized what they were doing... they were experimenting on humans. some were torn to pieces as parts to build cyborgs....but that's probably not all there doing.....the machines are attempting to become organic...

The World so Far

The Year is 500 A.E., hundreds of years have past since the planet Nova Terra went through the Great Eradication. humanity is on the brink of extinction from the ever rampaging legion.

Three City States remain in the whole world. each with one million inhabitance. all working under a united banner of the Human Reform League.

Only few hundreds manged to escape the war on the large space station Epsilon.

However hope still remains in these dark times. as plans are set in motion to turn the tide of this war.

HRL Jeep

The Jeep afectionally called the "Buggy" by the troops, is a light all-purpose vehicle, ideal for recon missions and staging hit and run assaults against legion infantry or lightly armored vehicles. It is as resilient, maneuverable and flexible as the majority of the HRL vehicles. It is therefore used primarily for quick troop deployment and general transportation. The jeep is lightly armored and equipped with a top mounted machine gun and a passenger mounted light machine gun.

AAPC

The AAPC is the preferred amphibious assault transport for HRL infantry. It is good at absorbing punishment but not as good at dishing it out, the AAPC is fairly slow, but heavily armored all-around. Moreover, it is quite reliable. It has a very low profile, holds six men, and is equipped with a top mounted LMG that provides adequate suppressive fire while troops deploy through the rear exit hatch.

Liberator Attack Mech

The Liberator is the HRL's newest weapon in their war against the Machine. When heavily armored and extremely mobile are at the top of the request list, then you can count on this to get those jobs done.

The Liberator mech is ideal for providing support for convoys. It is also able to traverse the most difficult of terrain. It comes equipped with top-of-the-line armor plating, a left arm mounted rocket launcher, and a right arm mounted heavy machine gun.

Archer IFV

The Archer, as its been dubbed by HRL forces, is a two-man assault vehicle. It features a modular turret configured with an AA Cannon, multiple rocket pods, and linked LMGs. It is typically used against infantry and soft vehicle targets, as it is a highly effective anti-personnel platform. It is quite maneuverable and relatively quick, which makes it very effective during urban incursions.

Skyhawk

The Skyhawk is a versatile, transverse-rotor multipurpose utility helicopter. a Falcon can transport a fully-equipped four-man squad faster than any previous system, and provide overwhelming support fire, in most weather conditions.

The aircraft's crew consists of one pilot, and it's armament includes a pilot-controlled chin-mounted Chain Gun and two door-mounted Machine Guns.

The Falcon is a twin seater fighter aircraft that forms the backbone of the Air Force. it fills the role of strike fighter, packing enough firepower to destroy enemy vehicles and infantry with "Sidewinder" missiles and heavy armor-piercing guns.

Raven

The Raven is an all-around air transport vehicle and the backbone of the army air corps. they are used to insert and extract up to 12 soldiers during combat. Besides being a transport, they are also used as close air support for soldiers on the ground.

Like the skyhawk, the raven is armed with a Frontal Chain Gun and Machine Guns on both sides.

The Enemy
In the centuries. the Supercomputer has constructed what most considered, the most powerful, efficient army in the world. there are many types within It's legions.

Legionnaire MKII

Legionnaire MKII's are the grunt units for the legion. These units are lightly equipped and are normally found in groups of two or more. they are a recent addition in the legion as a replacement of the aging though still serving MKI's.

Command Legionnaire

Command Legionnaires are analogous with commanders in the human Military. They typically command large units of hundreds and military outposts. Command are visually distinguished from regular legionnaires by their white armor.

Legionnaire MKI

Once a common sight for HRL soldiers. these aging droids have been replaced by the more aglie and advanced MKII's. though they still remain in service. they see very little combat and are now tasked as guards and sentries.

Man Hunter

These deadly machines are often used as heavy infantry or cleaners after a battle, killing whats left of the humans. they are armed with a mimi gun for an arm and an plasma cannon for the other. as well as two missile launchers on it's shoulders.

Hopper

The Hopper is a new type of legionnaire that as well was a recent entry to the war, hinting of the machine's "evolution". A Hopper's body is made of a springy synthetic substance that resembles organic muscle tissue. This can be compressed and then released, allowing the Hopper to jump enormous distances. It has also tiny hooks on its hands and feet used to climb on walls and ceilings.

Spider

The Tetrapod, also known as the Spider by the HRL, is a light support quadruped unit often used to defend key points of interest for the Legion. They are the smaller brethren of the Centurion.

Armed with twin machine guns as its arms. It is often accompanied with a swarm of tiny hovering drones.

Though heavily armored, they are vulnerable from behind by targeting their battery packs, or from the front via their single red eye.

Centurion

The Centurion one of the largest mobile, walker ground units. It is an combination platform packing advanced targeting systems, heavy armor and heavy firepower. Used primarily in an anti-vehicle role or deployed in small squadrons to hunt down and terminate humans, the Centurion is the most expensive unit produced by the Legion. Due to its large size and the tenacious defending of its posts, this unit soon gained the nickname "Centurion" from HRL Commanders who had faced it.

Recon Drone

Recon Drones are small, lightly-armed combat robots. they scout ahead of the main army or act as cannon fodder, distracting human forces.

Rocket Drone

Larger Drones that are armed with a rocket launcher. they often act as weapon platforms when in a stationary mode and provide support for robotic infantry.

Armature

The Armature is a mobile anti-vehicle and anti-personnel unit employed in high-risk areas or urban combat zones. although they are small compared to the Centurion. they're oftentimes are dropped directly from a Dropship. Armed with superior firepower and a Siege Pulse assault cannon, this unit is easily a match for the armored vehicles of the HRL. Its main armament is deadly but slow to recharge, but the Armature compensates by knocking down infantry with a smaller secondary weapon, which, while not as powerful, fires more rapidly, making it very dangerous to engage an Armature up close.

Centaur Battle Tank

The Centaur Battle Tank is one of the Legion's principal ground-based combat vehicles. the Centaur Tank is several stories tall and vaguely humanoid in overall shape, possessing a rotating, conning tower-like "head", two steel "arms" equipped with twin-barreled directional plasma cannons, and two "legs" consisting of massive individual tank treads. While formidably armed, the Centaur Tank can be easily destroyed by a well-placed demolition charge.

Ogre Tank

A different type of Centaur Tank. This smaller variant lacked a "head" like the original model and instead had a cluster of large sensors on its front. It's arms extended out further than the original model.

Venom Gunship

The Venom gunship is the main VTOL-unit of the legion's air forces. carrying a devastating array of underslung and wing mounted lasers, missiles, and plasma cannons, the Venom is fearsome and terrifying to behold. Often operating in support of ground sweeps by swarms of ground troops, they are one of the more dangerous targets for the HRL to engage.

Enforcer

The enforcers are as the name implies. they keep close watch over human prison and slave camps or occupied settlements. armed with rapid fire plasma guns, they'll kill any huuman that attempts to escape instantly.

Harvester

Harvesters are the largest bipedal machines at the Legion's disposable that would capture humans. They took the humans to the labs for testing and experimentation. Any humans that try to resist are blasted by the Harvester's shoulder-mounted, laser-guided cannon, which fires powerful plasma blasts. a harvester can survive various explosions and fires, making it a prime target for HRL forces.

Bomber

Large aerial assault machines used to bomb the surface and clear the targeted area of all life. they can cause massive casualties for HRL ground forces.

Carrier

The Carrier is an airborne tactical deployment unit used as a mobile base for far off operations. they can carry thousands of infantry type units and hundreds of vehicle types.

Transport

Transports are very large flying machines that transport captured humans to Legion Work Camps or Reaserch Facilities . A large VTOL craft, the transport is also capable of carrying a harvester and at least one venom.

Are you posting more details on the three city states, or we could make up their names and politics (e.g. are they a democracy, a dictatorship...). Also, will be there space battles and more space ships (besides the space station)?

Personality: A bit crazy, he loves it when he gets to fight there's something about how a Centaur battle tank falls in on itself with a well placed rocket that makes Nitro all warm and fussy inside. It's also worth noting that Nitro will use a few more bullets then is nessesary to bring down a machine most of the time.

Bio: Not much to tell about Nitro he enlisted as soon as he was legally allowed to carry a gun and has been fighting ever since. He runs shipments of weapons and supplies between the various bases and other centers on human activity, with a truck with 4 LMGs mounted on the back for protection. Nitro always keeps a dozen or so rockets in the truck in case he runs into a Centaur, gunship, or anything else the mounted guns can't rip to pieces easily.
(Sidenote might I suggest that you replace the pistol with http://www.rookscastle.com/props/anime/G_CX_01.jpg it just looks like more futuristic pistol to me and it would be one less thing stolen from Mass Effect)

Personality: Years of war have made him tough, but he's got a strong sense of ethics and won't do anything he considers wrong. He's so constant on what he does, he can become obsessive.

Bio: A middle-class inhabitant of Theseria, one of the three city states of the Human Reform League, he joined the army because he wanted to take part in the fight against the machines, despite the fact he didn't trust the leading military class. Several decades ago, the inhabitants of Theseria gave the control of the city to a Military Council that actually controls the actions of a weakened Parliament. This relative loss of freedoms led to a relative increase of security against the machines. However, Callum still thinks the army is a noble institution and the only thing that has prevented the machines from wiping out humans completely.
Callum's got an older brother and a younger sister. His parents were both killed by the machines several years after he joined the army.
He's survived many battles against the machines and he's lost too many friends, but he won't rest until the machines are defeated. He was severely injured in a huge battle and due to his wounds, he spent six months on a wheelchair. He spent that time studying any class of flying vehicles, including aircrafts such as the Skyhawk, and spaceships, and after his rehabilitation he proved himself a talented pilot. He's piloted spaceships mainly on simulators, but he hopes some day he'll be able to use his skills to help humanity.
Callum's also part of a religious group called the Reminiscence, who worship nine gods with no names or faces, mostly because they feel religion makes people different from machines, rather than because they really believe the gods will help them. Reminiscence's only moral commandment is respecting life in all forms, and their members strongly focus on letting believers decide the best way to live their own life. The Reminiscence is a minority religous group in Theseria, but they're moderately supported by the Council since they are seen as a symbol in the fight against the machines in a field they have never mastered.

This is my first RP application in a while, so bare with me for just a bit. :)


Name: Gabriel Mendoza

Occupation: Priest/Infantry Soldier

Personality: He is a pacifist and refuses to engage in even the slightest verbal conflict with a human. He often tries to help the other soldiers with spiritual problems in accordance to his job but refuses to share much of his personal experience with anyone, preferring to keep it to himself. When not talking about anyone’s past he is usually a very positive person but does not take kindly to cursing.

Appearance: His skin tone is of the equivalent a Native American on Earth. He has a long face, brown eyes, and wears shoulder length black hair out of military standard. He is 6’2” and of average build. He wears standard military uniform in combat but otherwise he is always seen in a brown robe. He carries an M-7 Predator Pistol at all times, being hidden under his robe or strapped to his belt, and wears an M-82 Assault Rifle on his back when in his military attire.

Bio: Gabriel was born in the sparsely inhabited jungle of Tander, being raised a pacifist and vegetarian. He and his family lived in a small agriculture based village with most of everyone sharing the same religious beliefs and had little contact with the nearest city, Theseria. They believed a god that existed in all animals and had a law system based of old religious texts but worshiped their god in different ways. When he was sixteen years old he began studying religion with his village’s head priest and was a full fledged priest himself by the age of twenty.

Over the years, Gabriel’s mentor became more of a father than anyone to him. When he was thirty-three, Gabriel and his religious mentor were out on an excursion in the jungle when a group of Harvesters came and ransacked their village. They returned to find no one alive in their village, all either dead or taken. They stayed at the site of their demolished village for three days until HRL soldiers came through tracking the Harvesters. The HRL picked them up and they began to travel with them.

While traveling with the HRL convoy both were given an M-7 Predator Pistol for protection Neither carried it with them, and they both vowed to never use them. One night, a Recon Drone came into the tent where Gabriel and his mentor were sleeping. The Recon Drone woke them and opened fire. While trying to save his mentor, Gabriel took his pistol from under his sleeping bag and fired at the Drone. The Drone was destroyed, but Gabriel’s mentor was injured and died a week later from plasma burns.

With no family to be with and no place to go home, Gabriel has enlisted in the HRL in order to fight the machine force he believes his religion allows him to fight. He fights under grounds that he has still never killed a living creature and is protecting humanity. He has sworn to quit the army at the end of The Machine War, or if the machines succeed in becoming organics.

Bio: Tyler Moore was considered KIA six years before he was found in a Robotic Processing center. They had removed his arms and legs and given him Cybernetic limbs and were in the process of implementing a Robotic mind control device, but only succeeded in implanting a communications device inside his brain. How he hears not only Human Radio chatter, but Robotic plans as well.

Tyler Moore was a Sergeant First Class before he was considered KIA, after coming back into battle he advanced quickly though the ranks to become a Major, and a rather large player in the Intelligence and Counter intelligence units.

Tyler Moore's family was killed by a Tomahawk missile that detonated on top of his house while he was at school. Like many orphans he was adopted by the Military and trained to be a cold blooded robot killer. The fact that Tyler Moore is half robotic already makes it all the much easier.

Weapons carried: M224-A1 LMG, M-15 Vindicator Sniper Rifle, M-7 Predator Pistol.

Tyler Moore specifies in Field Tactic's, Sniping, and uses his M224 to lay down suppressive fire for escaping or retreating forces.

Tyler's Armour Suit: Night Vision, Thermal Vision, Zoom/unzoom capabilities, Magnetic detectors, EMP field Detectors, Mine Locator. Standard Kevlar Armour interwoven with thinned out light Tank Armour. Without his cybernetic legs he would be slow as a snail with the Armour.

Bio: After years of being on the run, never having a job, and failing in the military. Jerico gained the Merc Title "B.T." or Bullet Time for his massive obsession for

After losing several small merc teams, B.T.'s found it to be easier to do jobs alone, and not to make too many permanent friends along the way. Never one to go in first,

Levias has all of the proper qualities for his line of work. Except for the facts that he sometimes gets attached to a job. He has cold, calculating, and realistic qualities like a Tactician, yet he is stealthy and ruthless like a Thief and Mercenary. He does most thing's that involve fighting or jobs for large sums of money, but is not greedy at all. He is actually very charitable. He has a very valued sense of morals that involve innocents and others, so even though he has a quite detested profession, he is quite kind on the streets.

Bio:
Born into an orphanage, he was uncared for. He learned to steal for himself, and fight for himself. After a friend from his orphanage died in a firefight with the Legion, he vowed vengeance, and swore to protect any innocent that he could. He joined the Military, but then quit, because he just wanted to learn how to fight and use his weapons.

He is a very skilled fighter all around, and is very agile. He is often working out whenever he isn't doing a job. His body seems like it wouldn't be able to lift more than 130 pounds, but in reality he can almost lift two times that. He favor's the M-82 Rifle, and the Vindicator Sniper rifle, but also carries a Predator Pistol, and a short-sword with him. The sword is titanium, and has a jagged edge, made to tear apart the metals that make the Legion.

Bio: Was built in a facility, was the last to be built before the factory exploded by HRL units, barely survived the explosion. Had long worked with the robot army as a soldier. Since he was handy, he became a repairer in case something happened, and with great communication with spiders, it had become something that would send in spiders if things didn't go well. He would also accept sneaking jobs to spy on the HRL and humans. He has not yet been caught yet.
