Sound of Madness

A roleplay based off a book I'm writing (if that is ok).

You can't chose your destiny or your family. You can't choose who you are or what your parents try to make you. You don't kid to decide how your own father treats you or what secrets he holds. You can't stop death or people leaving. But what you can do is run. Run from your hell and never look back.

A group of teens form together with one common factor: they are all escaping something from their past. Just a group of run away teens living under one house. They get along, act like a family, and live each day as it comes. They have become each others new family. They have become stability for each other. And over all, this life style is now their life

They had a few simple rules to follow to keep harmony.
1) smoke outside.
2) pay your share of the rent
3) do not draw attention to yourself at work or school or other public places
4) don't get arrested for something stupid
5) no romance with other members of the group.

These five simple rules should be easy to follow, right? Well apparently not. There is hidden romance everywhere in the house.

Name: Delilah Cohen
Age 17, almost 18
Appearance
~hair: She has wavy, long strawberry blonde hair. Depending on the day or lighting, it will look either really light ginger colored or it's pinkish blonde color. It falls down to the small of her back with its wave. When straitened, it will fall clear past her butt. But most of them time, it is pulled into a messy bun out of force of habit to keep it out of her face. But in contrary to the bun, she has bangs that fall into her face and cover her eyes.
~eyes: sea green eyes that seem to hold secrets and regrets. Her hair usually covers them though. Blue specks are visible when you can see her eyes.
~frame: very tall and thin. Is a hard core dancer so is in almost perfect shape, if not a bit under weight due to over working her body as of recantly.
~skin: A very pale peach color with freckles along her arms and face.
~clothing: When she isn't dancing, she will be in baggy t-shirts that usually have quirky sayings with normal jeans that aren't skinny but aren't baggy. When she is dancing, she will be in whatever outfit is required for the dance, or if just practicing, she will be in leggings and a t-shirt with her hair down.
~other: is very self conscious about how she looks.
Personality: is somewhat shy and closed off, almost broken as of recently. She won't speak much and will try to be as alone as much as she can. When she feels she is completely alone, she will dance to express whatever is bottled up inside her.
History: Her mother had an affair and that was how she was conceived. Delilah was never informed, but her moms husband and her 'father' knew. He treated her like dirt because of it and she never knew why.
When she was six, her mother passed away from a drug overdose. Her father became more openly abusive to Delilah, and pushed her to go into dancing. He knew she had potential and figured he could get money by shoving her into competitions.
She would go with it, out of fear that he would lash out at her. Or just because she loved to dance. As she got older, she got much better. But so did the people she was competing against. She stopped getting first, and her father leaned on drinking more and more and would abuse her for the smallest things.
She got a job to support them after he lost his and she used her own stash of money to get the best dance instructor in NYC. He., like her father, would push her hard and would also abuse her if she screwed up. She would tell herself that she was doing this to be the best.
Her grades started falling, and she showed up at school less and less. Her only hope for college would be a dance scholar ship that her dance instructor had been pushing her to do. Her grades where borderline graduating, and she knew she could do it.
Well, she didn't.
Why they ran: because the scholarship was the only real way for her to get out of the abusive lifestyle she was in. She had one best friend, Kyle, who would take care of her. One day he picked up and left with no warning. This left her completely broken and unmotivated to do anything at him. One day her dad pushed her too far, so she packed her bag and left. She set out to find a place to live and recently stumbled across the group of runaways.

Name: Ben Stasi
Age: 19
Appearance
~hair: Curly brown hair that is long enough to reach over his ears and is almost an afro. If it is straitened it would reach halfway down his neck and give him a slight emo look, which he hates. He thinks it's stupid for guys to straighten there hair and will only do it if absolutely forced.
~eyes: stern brown and green eyes. The sternness hides his pain and tends to ward off outsiders.
~frame: on the shorter side of average. Lean and kinda scrawny. Was a runner at one point, but wasn't one to stand out. Is just a very average person.
~skin: Caucasian white skin with a peachy gold undertone.
~clothing: graphic t-shirts that aren't too baggy nor too tight. Slim jeans and converse. Has think framed hipster-like glasses, but actually needs them to see and they were the only style frames he could afford.
~other: doesn't care about his appearance.
Personality: although he looks cold and closed off, he is actually a very nice and a welcoming person. Gives everyone a chance to prove themselves.
History his mom and dad devorced when he was young and his mom got custody of him and got remarried to a man he hated. He went through two years of high school with a bad rep and with few friends. But he didn't care. He just wanted to get out of there.
Why they ran: His best friends parents kicked him out so Ben ran away with him. They started the group together.

Age 16
Appearance
~hair: Black hair that curls over his ears. Straitens it so it is pin straight. There is never a hair out of place. He keeps good care of it because he feels like it is his best feature.
~eyes: light grey eyes that flip between grey and blue and Silverish. Kind and gentle eyes.
~frame: tall and lanky and scrawny. Doesnt look like he would hold well in a fight.
~skin: pale tan skin that is a perfectly even tone.
~clothing: latest fashions usually with skinny jeans and a shark tooth necklace. will sometimes also look like a hipster without trying.
~other
Personality: is kinda shy and timid. Is openly gay, but still kinda shy about it. that 'oh girl' type of guy and tends to befriend girls an give them fashion advice.
History: grew up in a christian house hold where his parents were extrememly religious. Around his 8th grade year he started getting feelings for other guys. He kept it hidden and told himself it was just a phase. That he couldn't be gay because being gay was wrong.
But as years passed the feelings just got stronger. He realized that being gay wasn't wrong and it was who he was. He came out to his parents and they disowned him. They kicked him out and that is when he went to Ben, his best friend, and said he was leaving. Ben left with him.
Why they ran: his parents kicked him out for being gay. The rest of his family wouldn't take him in, so he just ran.

Seems really nice and interasting. One thing I recommend you do is put an age limit.

Age: 18
Apperance
~hair: Bedraggled brown hair. It looks like it was never combed ever. Giving the impression Zeke is unprofessional.
~eyes: Gentle and Friendly brown eyes that seem to welcome anyone and everyone.
~frame: A medium size body. With a four pack abs. He is fairly tough able to hold himself in a fight.
~skin: A slightly golden causcian color.
~clothing: On stage he wears a black and red tuxedo. In the house however he wears tees with things related to magic on them.
~other: His job that help pays for a rent is being a ameteur magician working in a dingy bar/resterant place. Also he is addicted to candy.
Personality: Open and friendly. He has made a few unintentional jealous boyfriend enemies. He could easily open up a conversation and end it at will.
History: He came from a fairly high class family where his family wanted him to be a doctor or somthing similiar. They had a family tradition of becoming some kind of medical specialist and wanted him to continue it. Zeke had always dreamed of being a magician and loved magic...tricks. Zeke hated the smell of hospitals and clinics.
Why he ran: When he graduated from high school, Zeke began his magician career. His parents told him he would either be a doctor and go to college or they'll disown them. He happily agreed to the second option and left with some money. He eventually found the group of runaways.

frame: Strong legs, upper build lacks toning though.
skin: Mildly pale from his mildy shut in status.
clothing: wears black hoodie to hide his heterochromia. seafoam or cyan shirt. Wears a sagittarius pendant from his brother. Shadow camouflage cargo pants. Black converse with symbols he draws on them when bored.
other:carries pencils and paper around when he feels like writing a storyboard. Has a lisp. Knows how to really and enhance fix electronics and software(techtastic, lols), sucks at cooking,short-term memory and common sense. Manages a anime fanfiction website. Loves lame love songs.

Personality: Socially awkward because of his lisp and heterochromia, He only speaks to his best friend(whoever you make this as) or to help others who really need it. Sometimes, if feeling shy, he will just text the person trying to talk to him right in front of him. His silence and stoicism make him an outcast. He tends to avoid contact with other people besides those his best friend trusts or those online(online he is more open, and sarcastic). Very protective of anyone he loves or befriends, kinda like the older borther he once was.

History: He was an orphan, product of his parents suiciding themselves because "they had it too hard in the world". The only family he had was his brother who was three at that time. He was five. He was quickly adopted because of his birth defect, but his new guardians adopted him only as a show piece, something to use and show off to company and then toss off into the dark again for about a year. After the mother witnessed the death of her real son, she became extremly depressed and lost her job at the pharmacy. She overdosed later that week from pills she stole from work. The father, grabbing at anything to yell at, berate or beat remembered his little show item. After two months of this, Connor's brother Clark made a surprise visit back from afghanistan(connor recieves his pendant before he was adopted) but was told that Connor did not live there. The father then went after Connor again. Connor escaped with what he had in his pockets at that time and what he could grab from his desk after locking the door to his room. He eventually was told by his best friend(insert name here) about the group. Clark was killed later by an IED back in afghanistan.

Why they ran:
To escape death and pain. To be part of a real family, even if it is makeshift.

Occupation: Works at an electronics store. Part time aspiring author.(His Goal: If his books sell well once he finishes them, he will buy the house for his new "family".)

Age: 17
Appearance
~hair: Darkish brown almost black, he keeps it always in a military style buzz cut.Having a line specially cut at the right side of his head, shaving off a line of hair to give a distinctive appearance to his cut.
~eyes: Dark brown.
~frame: 6'2 in hight and about 190lb. Basketball has made him rather built and tall
~skin: Mid tan color.darker then most due to puertorican heritage.
~clothing: At home he mostly wears long torn blue jeans and a open jacket over his frame, mostly barefoot even when outside. Going out to town or school he'll put on a pair of ragged sneakers, his normal torn jeans and either a tshirt or sweater depending the weather.
~other:Rather not be spoken to if can be helped
Personality: He's cold and wont look anyone in the eyes unless he feels the need to get some point across. He spends his days either outside or going to town and simply walking the streets. Although he's not prone to violence unless he feels himself pushed to far he does have a slight anger problem. He feels himself like an animal whose cage is open. Safe inside though left to his own freedom if needed.
History: John had a fairly nice life for the first 10 years of his life. A mother who was loving to him and a father who worked hard and was gone long but still found some time for him. A few weeks before it would have been his eleventh birthday, coming home after school he walked into his home and found that his mother and father were arguing. About what he could not understand, though John knew by the way his fathers face was red and the way his mothers tears were streaming from her eyes that it could not have been anything good. He stood in the hallway and simply watched, afraid and worried, his father after a few minutes picked up one of the bottles of wine from the table and through it at his mother, causing it to shatter right on her face and cut into her most sensative spots dropping her to the floor. John ran towards her and in that instant was picked up in a chokehold by his father and thrown halfway into the room before blacking out upon connecting with the ground. Waking a few hours later to the wailing of sirens he saw that he himself had scarrs on his legs and bruise marks from where his father had grabbed him. Not being told what had happened he spent the next 4 years of his life in between foster homes. Every foster family unable to calm down his anger at not knowing what happened or where his mother was. And some families even being more abusive then the last, making him have to learn to fight and fend for himself.. Right when he had turned 15 he decided to try his chance at running away from home. Living the next few months off the gutters and kindness of strangers. Then by luck he would go to find a job as a drug dealer, climbing the ranks rather quickly he owned a checkpoint by the time he was just over 16 years of age, having new documents made for him he tried his luck one last time. One last time of running away, stealing money to take a few buses a few states over from where he was. He would try to get into school and live as honest a life as he possibly could.
Why they ran: To simply forget what he's been through and try to make his way somehow in life.

You say you are writing a book? Will this be a rags-to-riches tale, or is it based on this specifically? If it is based on this specifically, wouldn't you need more than a few paragraphs of dialogue?( sorry but I know nothing on how this works, only actual novels, so.....)

This is based off the concept of my book. The book is pretty much planned out by now, and I have the cast of characters completed. The pitch of the book is different because it follows one character specifically, unlike this which is broader and follows multiple.

~hair: Black hair which is slightly shaven on the sides, shaped into a faux hawk, while it's a bit spiky, but not clumped up.

~eyes: Brown eyes.

~frame: 6'3", big build due to going to the gym, broad shoulders, small waist, six pack.

~skin: Slightly tanned skin.

~clothing: Usually wears jeans and a t-shirt, but sometimes wears shorts and a t-shirt. Rarely wears a jacket, and likes to wear long sleeves, collared or not.

~other: Once provoked, he won't back down.

Personality: Mysterious, intelligent, and quiet, though easily provoked, and aggressive, will fight for his friends and family if it comes to the point. Though usually will not join into the conversation if it is with people he doesn't know well, not that he's shy, it's just that he doesn't trust a lot anymore. Doesn't have much control over his anger because of what has happened to him.

History: Grew up in a simple neighborhood, had some good friends, his parents were very lenient with him, and they let him do a lot of things because he got good grades. Never got into fights, and was very shy around girls, most of the time he just played basketball with friends or played video games. Very respectful to people who mean something to him, who respect him, and who deserve his respect in his opinion.

Why he ran: His parents died in a car-crash, and his sister was left to take care of him, but she always locked him upstairs after he got home, he never got to go out as well, so sneaking out was his only way. One time she found out he was sneaking out and told her boyfriend and his gang to beat him up. It gave him the motivation to start going to the gym, take up boxing, and the courage to leave his good for nothing sister.

Sorry it took me a while to get this up, haven't really been well these past few days.

Name: Jamie Hopkins

Age 17

Appearance
~hair: Long brown/blonde streaks, always wears it in a ponytail.
~eyes: Her eyes change colour depending on her emotions. Her eyes are normally a honey brownish, but when she gets annoyed, angry, her eye colour changes to black.
~frame: Skinny, muscular, lean.
~skin: Tanned and has several scars on her upper left arm.
~clothing: She walks around in black jeans, coloured t-shirts, a hoodie, and a pair of converse. She also occasionally wears a navy blue baseball cap.

Personality: Before the events that happened, she used to be a courageous, outgoing type of person. She shows this side to her on the odd occasion but it’s rare. In the present, she’s the complete opposite. She is very shy and selective mute unless she feels that the person isn’t going to hurt her. She is on the odd occasion, kind and caring. She puts her friends before herself.

~other: When she feels as if she’s hurt someone, or something, her whole entire mental system just shuts down. It’s a defence mechanism that is hard to breakthrough.

History:
Jamie grew up in a small urban town, on the outskirts of the capital city. Her life was perfect, she had everything she wanted. A loving family, a circle of friends she could trust, a boyfriend who loved her. This was until she was attacked in an alleyway by a drunken man one night that she was walking back from her boyfriends. She was sexually abused and ended up with mental scars that would remain there until she would forget. She went depressive from there on, cutting contact with everybody. She left her boyfriend, her friends. Her family on the other hand, didn’t understand what had happened and decided to treat her differently than before. Her father became an alcoholic and started to take his anger out on her when she was 15. She ended up going to hospital that many times, she lost count. She never said anything about her father beating to a pulp. When people asked her what was the bruising from, her normal reply was “I hit it on the door”. After everything, she started to cut. Her main spot was on her upper left arm. She decided to run after everyone turned against her at the age of 16. Her mom disowned her, her father beat her, people at school started to talk. So one morning, she got up and walked out of the door, and kept running.

Why they ran: Because of everything that happened at home, school, and in life in general. She wanted also to get out of the environment she was in.

Name: Alyx Carter

Age: 17

Appearance:

~hair- Her hair is a shade of gray, very dark, but not gray of
age. It has grown to her waist, and, if curled or made wavy, would go past. She has bangs that fall on her brow. Maintenance on her hair is high, but at least she doesn't have to straighten it, as it is mostly straight already. Alyx always keeps it down, if she puts it up, it gets heavy.

~eyes- With very plain, vibrant hazelnut eyes, this is Alyx's least favorite feature of herself.

~frame- Because she doesn't workout, to say, but since she takes long walks in the wood often, Alyx's frame is quiet thin. But yet not skinny, and not chunky.

~skin- Her skin is a couple of shades lighter then her eyes, tan.

~clothing- Mostly Alyx wears a kinda baggy shirt with skinny jeans that fit her figure nicely. Sometimes she will wear an above-the-knee dress when she feels nice.

~other- She likes to keep herself clean and maintained so she will take showers every day. Also, her hobby is to make her own jewelry.

Personality: Alyx is not particularly out going, yet not shy. She likes to keep her friends close to her but it's not like she has many. Due to the amount of bullying and moving she had experienced in her years, it is hard to trust for her. In addition, Alyx has a semi-low self-steam.

History: Alyx was born in the middle of the divorce of her parents. She was left in the hands of her dad, who worked non-stop and low-wage. Until she was 12 years old, she had a nanny named Kathy. Kathy would take care of her, nursing her when she was first born. She was a mother to Alyx. That nanny knew everything about Alyx. Her troubles, her crushes, friends, and even helped her through puberty. But Kathy was getting older, and her body was not able coup when she got caught in the battle of cancer. She died when Alyx was 13, just entering the 8th grade. The young girl could not deal with that, and stopped talking to everyone but her father, whom she saw everyday before she went to sleep. Every night Alyx would cry herself to sleep, having nightmares that made her wake up screaming. This went on for 3 years, up until she was sexually abused by her 11th grade teacher. After that, she told no one and ran away.

Why they ran: Alyx was abused, inappropriately, by one of her teachers. On top of that, her life-time nanny died, breaking her into a million pieces.

Age: 16
Appearance: Average height of 5’8’’, but is very skinny. Has long black hair with shaggy bangs. She wears messy clothes, and rarely bothers to check whether they match. Although it’s hard not to when all her clothes are black or grey.
~hair: black with purple tints
~eyes: violet
~frame: small but on the tall side
~skin: very pale
~clothing: dark, belts that are too large, jeans that are too tight.
Personality: keeps to herself much of the time, if people took the chance to talk to her, they might realize that she won’t immediately lung for your throat.
History: abusive family. Her father an alcoholic, and her mother ran away. Never had friends because she was always moving, and never wanted to share the grim details of her life with others.
Why they ran: her mother was gone and she was ill taken care of, not to mention the many scars from the beatings that had been coming more frequently.

I don't really have a problem with a gay character. My sister brings her gay friend to our house every once in a while. So I' pretty fine with a gay character.

Good....I attempted this roleplay on another site and the admin who joined decided it wasnt ok for me to have a gay character in my own chat so she made me take him out.... *has a lot of problems with this admin...* so i just wanted to check with you guys.

I used to Roleplay in my WOW days, and quit since things got repetitive. The only thing I really did in WOW was RP, I mean like 4 hours straight on weekends. Since the RPs were on the spot we didn't really have a lot of time to give a lengthy description, plus we got our WOW chars to mvoe around.

When I Rped with my WOW buddies it was slightly like that with one liners, but the thing was that a single line of dialogue would take up like almost all of the chat box where you type things in. And when you complete yoru sentence and start to type another one, someone else posted something and your like LET ME FINISH MY SENTENCE JERK! D:<

Alright so that part makes sense right? Then it says Jason is to Delila's RIGHT. Which threw me off. And it says Connor is right next to her, meaning her left. So....

Age: Just turned 17
Appearance: Rex looks a lot older than he is, and gets away with doing stuff do to people thinking hes older.
Cloths:He wears a black suit like get-up,
Hair:with brown spiky hair and always a little 5 o'clock shadow.
Height and weight: He is average height, 5'8'', weighing in at about 180 pounds.
Eyes:He has dark green eyes, that look very kind.
Skin tone:Hes very pale from being a shut in from when he was younger, but hes grown out of that shell now.
Frame:Hes fairly muscular, but nothing noticable, but its is noticable is how skinny he is. Other:He also wheres a ring that looks very expensive and people have tried to steal it from him, to which he beats to a bloody pulp, showing it has a deep sentimental value.

Personality: Kind, but unforgiving when it comes to teasing and sarcasm, doesn't like to talk about his past or why he has the scars he has. To which he will change the subject as if it was never asked. Hes protective, but likes to let people to handle their own problems so they can grow from them.

History: Was a honor student, who got great grades throughout his whole school year and was very smart. But he was a shut in and never socialized. He would get picked on and beaten up, but he never backed down from anything, and always stood tall. No one was sure about what went on in his house that no one entered but him and his family, but they could tell it was far from good.

Why he ran: Most assumed it was because of went on in his home. The place he was supposed to be able to go to and feel safe and loved. It was also said that he was always dreaming of something better, and he finally decided to go out and find it himself. Another theory was that he was so smart that he got sick of all the idiots at his school and left. Another said that he had no family ever, and it was just him in the house and he decided he would find one.
No one knew exactly why he left, but what was important was he did, and was reported dead. He ran when he was 15 turning 16.

Personality- Avelyn is a very laid back, "whatever goes" kind of girl. She will never be the one to lead a situation, but will never follow someone else. She's quiet and doesn't speak out much, but has a fun, careless spirit if you get the chance to know her. She doesn't judge others often, but will be very straight forward if something someone does bothers her that much. She doesn't stick around for drama and is generally just I've if the guys.
History: Her mother had her after recently divorcing her father, without knowing she was even pregnant and did the classic drop off at the fire station. She was put into foster care until her identity was traced many years later and she contacted her father, who was granted full custody a few years later. Her father had already had a two year old baby when she was born named Justin and Avelyn became almost inseparable of him. They met when she was eight and hadn't spent more than a few days apart, nearly ten years later. He was the only person who stood up for her or cared about her and was the first to get her involved in drugs. After he over dosed and starting seizing in the same room as her, she panicked and called an ambulance. He died of heart failure on the way to the hospital and she stood by him.
Why they ran: months later, her father was diagnosed with dementia and put into a nursing home. Her mother signed the custody papers but told her that she simply, "didn't have enough room for her" in her home. So, assuring the woman that she had a place to stay, she moved in with her boyfriend, figuring that she would be able to live on her own in a year, anyways. Two days later she caught him cheating on her and was introduced into the story!
