Hu'natu
Watcher of the Wood

Name: Hu'natu (Hu)
Age: 683
Race: Wo'dan
Build: A wild and large misshaped object, can reach full hight of 7+ feet but generally hunches which reduces a foot of hight.
Hair: Brown and dark green "twine-like" hair flow like frail strings from most people would assume is his head.
Eyes: Rotten knots of wood is all that is left of Hu'natu's eyes.

Distinctive features: As in the fabled stories, rare creatures known as "The Wo'dan" are a legendary race whom had once been a human druid. The transformation is almost always an accidental one, performed by a druid who has been critically wounded to quickly heal one's self. Such powerful magics performed in a weak state can transform the injured druid into a statue of twisted bark and wood. These statues are what most call "Humus", a human embodiment of nature itself. The druid, more often then not, is immediately destroyed by whichever foe they were combating.

In the rare case that the Humus survives, it takes life as any wild plant or tree would. It is only after many decades that the Humus gains consciousness, and even then it becomes a slow and dull process to gain simple skills such as movement. Once they break free from their deep rooted position, only then does the Humus become a Wo'dan.

Hu'natu's skin is covered with misshapen bark and twisted branches. Leaves and twigs appear commonly upon the Wo'dan's head, back and arms. His stump-like legs are covered with moss and young mushrooms, and one should not be surprised to spy a moth or two making nest between the struts of bark. His face still carries an identity of his former human form, but severely altered by nature's growth. His nose has grown to a comically sized object similar to a mountain troll. The cheeks appear swollen and rotten as his eyebrows overlap the remains of his eyes, making him blind. His jaw is covered with a thick moss which mimics a beard of a wise old man, muffling his mouth which moves very slowly.

Clothes: A large soiled dark-brown tent which has been altered into a makeshift cloak.

Weapon(s): The only thing Hu'natu carries that could be considered a weapon is his large walking stick. A piece of petrified oak strong enough to support the large creature.

Abilities:

-Physical Attacks-
A Wo'dan's physical attacks can pack plenty of power behind them. Powerful swings of their long arms can shatter rocks and easily break bones. They are, however, incredibly slow. A physical attack can easily be avoided by a quick and nimble opponent.

-Spores-
The body of a Wo'dan are filled with mixtures of different forms of life and magic, some of which can have interesting effects to more warm-blooded creatures. Most spores take a minute to brew (one post), but can be saved for whenever Hu'natu wishes to use them.

Grai'myst: An airborne fungi that Hu'natu can release throughout the pores in his body. This particular fungi can have a bitter taste in most mouths, and are generally harmless since they only serve to hinder one's vision by creating a dark mist-like cloud that lasts for two posts.
Da'nukk: This liquid like substance can spray from either Hu'natu's mouth or hands. The properties are primarily acidic and can do some serious damage to softer skin if left unattended. It can also damage metals and dull blades to a useless blunt if soaked directly.
Fleura: A luminescent cloud of spores that are designed to cover the Wo'dan's body. These spores contain a delicate magic which can heal and repair a Wo'dan's wounds. The spores that drift astray often creates colourful plant-life where ever it lands. These spores can also cure anyone who happens to be near Hu'natu.
Nikan's Tip: A flower bud that appears on a Wo'dan's palm. It takes five minutes to fully grow (four posts), and even then it only has one shot. Within the red flower bud a poisonous rose-like needle is produced, and when ready can be shot outwards to any opposing threat. The poison makes the user nauseous, dizzy, and acts as a hallucinogen which dulls all senses until the subject vomits after a few minutes (two posts).
Proliferate: A powerful spell used to shape the surrounding environment. The Wo'dan takes root in whichever ground it is standing on and accelerates nature's progress. Exotic plants and young trees emerge from the surrounding area, turning any barren wasteland into an oasis of life. The spell requires the Wo'dan's full attention which makes it an enormous target. And even if the spell is successful, the time it takes for completion can be lengthy (5 posts). The result can provide various herbs and plant-life that the Wo'dan can use to their desire.

Other abilities/attributes:

-Skin of Wo'dan-
The thick bark-like skin that covers Hu'natu's body is relatively resistant to physical attacks. Swords and other sharp objects are known to get stuck in a knot and rather difficult to free. The skin also acts as a sensitive receptor to the general environment, sense where things are in a ten yard radius. When damaged, a Wo'dan's body senses "pain" differently then most creatures, that being he does not feel pain but rather knows of the location and nature of the damage.

-Eye of Nature-
Being blind, a Wo'dan can eye by other means. It can peer into the sight of different creatures that surround the area. He can also commune and sense the presence of other plants and trees and slowly manipulate them within an approximately 20 yard radius.

-Photosynthesis-
Since Hu'natu is initially a tree, he gains nutriment and energy just like any tree would. The leaves on his body absorb any visible sunlight and transforms the energy into proteins that adds more life into the slow creature. Within soles of Hu'natu's feet, root-like vines can dig into the ground and absorb any moisture or water for nourishment.

-Resistances-
Hu'natu's body is naturally resistant to many elements such as; Water, Earth and Electricity. Poisons generally have negligible effects against any Wo'dan as their body is composed with their properties. A Wo'dan feels most at ease when in a natural environment and can use the wildlife to detect and deter danger.

-Weaknesses-
Being made predominately of wood, this makes every Wo'dan very susceptible to fire. Also, modern man-made areas like cities or anywhere else that lacks a healthy portion of wildlife can have a negative effect on a Wo'dan's senses. They tend to rely on their connection with nature, and when they are separated from their habitat they generally find themselves at a severe disadvantage.

Personality: Once one transforms into a Wo'dan, they lose all previous memories of their previous life. Whatever personality or mental quirks that governed them as a druid is more or less replaced with a new one. Hu'natu, like the majority of his Wo'dan populace, is fairly patient. Lives to preserve and protect areas of nature and takes pleasure in guiding new plant life to blossom into new and exotic plants.

Hu'natu, by his very nature is a fairly passive creature. They regard acts of aggression "foolish" and "destructive" as Wo'dans prefer to protect and create life rather then destroy it. This does not mean, however, that they will not protect themselves or other creatures who are otherwise helpless to defend themselves.

Background: The history of Hu'natu's drudaic past is both a mystery and irrelevant to his current history. All that can be known is that he was once a man; A druid who had become so weak and desperate as to cast a risky healing spell with dangerous consequences. In his weakened state, his mind was not fully able to comprehend the magics which he was dealing with, and thus it consumed him fully and transformed him into a twisted wooden statue.

Where ever this fateful event happened, it was appeared to be on a lush mountainside near a forest of pine and oak. The years turned into decades, the decades turned into centuries, and time progressed as nature intended it with the wooden humus growing with respect to its cousins, the trees. Everything that once constructed the Druid's body was now replaced with vines, bark, wood and fungi. His body was now completely in tune with nature, from the subtle changes in the weather to the coming and going of the seasons.

The Wo'dan's first thought was fairly incoherent for he had no knowledge or language to express himself. It took years for him to learn the subtle movements of his crooked fingers, to the discovery of his feet. His face was warped in such a way that his eyes were useless, but like always nature found a way. Using his connection with the surrounding trees, he was able to picture his environment with great accuracy. Because of this simple additional sense, Wo'dans naturally prefer to stay in forests. Their interactions with humans or other civilized races normally tend to be with lost travellers, and almost always does the Wo'dan avoid physical contact with any such creatures. Only if the Wo'dan sense danger in someone's well-being do they intervene, and even then they generally do a good job in remaining out of sight within their natural camouflage.

Hu'natu has had few interactions with humans, but has always been curious about their tenacious nature. From observation he has learned their many tongues and meticulously learned to shape his mouth to form the many sounds required for speech. The druids who came into contact with the Wo'dan gave him the name "Hu'natu" which in their tongue meant "Nature's Protector" and is widely respected amongst the few clans who dwelled in his forest. He continues to roam in the forests, preserving life and protecting the nature he loves so dearly.
