The camera zooms in dramatically from the side, showing two men seated at a rather clean mahogany table. The other cameras and crew are also shown in this zooming shot, a rather overused cliché that fit the air of this moment quite well. Well, kinda.
Maybe even despite the business surrounding the studio the two hosts sat smiling their award winning smiles and drinking some scotch. One on the left a tall black man, bald with a bright yellow suit hollered out, “Someone tell me how I look?! A ten?! Nine?! Oh sweet sadness, not an EIGHT!!”
To his left- Wait, his left? Your right? Whatever. On the OTHER SIDE sits a rather lanky fellow with a foxy smile and slicked back black hair. He had a rather large nose, something he usually had the editors clean up before they aired the show, but since this one was live, his audience would just have to endure. "Oh, quiet ya great black fool, you look great! Not as great as me, as usual, but great nonetheless!" He laughed good-naturedly and knuckled his fellow host in the arm. In contrast to his friends bright yellow, he had gone with a more conservative and complementary purple.
Before a retort could be ushered from his black co-host the whole place fell silent under the command from the one in the chair. "We go live in FIVE, FOUR, THREE, TWO, AND...." The pair turned and faced the camera the one on the right taking the lead.
"Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome!" Short pause. "To the first ever LIVE coverage of the Rumble on Role-playing Adventures! I'm Vic Tauhrius and this is my lovable co-host, Lou Suhr, and we are here to keep you updated on the BIGGEST thing to be happening on this little piece of the internet to DATE!"
“That's right folks, not to mention that we will be maintaining 360 degree coverage on the whole rumble....Wait" Lou touches the bit on his ear as if someone is saying something to him. "I guess it'll only be 276 degrees of coverage, but we will give you tons of highlights and interviews throughout the whole tournament.”
Vic nodded and looked a little down. "Only 276 degrees, you say? Well, now you know why we didn't do this last year." He leaned toward the camera and held his hand to the side of his mouth, as if to say something only the audience would hear. "Our budget sucks!" He laughed and leaned back, continuing almost without stopping. "But regardless, we're here and we should probably say that this Rumble has indeed already started! That's right folks; the festivities are already under way, which means you probably want to know what the HELL is going on! Lou, care to give our audience the run down?"
“Sure thing, Vic.” Lou’s voice was rather odd for a man his size, as it was actually of a higher pitch than the smooth tone of the lanky host. The contrast was… interesting, to say the least. “This year we are looking at twenty of some of the most competitive warriors in all the realms and dimensions. As has been mentioned the first round is well under way and we have the brackets for your viewing here (http://images.challonge.com/rumble2.png). Each round will be scored by one of four judges that have been specifically chosen by the powers that be! The BIGGEST news however is that last year’s champion has come back to defend her title and we are going to have an exclusive interview with her right now! Let's get the screen up here guy. Ruan? Ruan, can you hear us?”
“That annoying whine of a voice? Yes, I hear it.” The screen flickered to reveal the hulking beast, head raised, eyes seemingly focused on something to the left of the camera.
Vic brightened a little and replied, "Alright, good to hear, I think! First off, we want to thank you for taking time out of your day to have this little chat with us! It’s quite the honor to have a DRAGON as an interviewee!”
She barked a laugh at his apparent enthusiasm, “Many of the lesser animals are too frightened to strike up conversation with a creature such as myself. I am merely humoring your apparent bravery.”
“Well it certainly isn't the money! Heheh,” Vic wiped his forehead. The lizard was quite intimidating to say the least… “So Ruan, even in last year's Rumble, you fought with this disease that really takes its toll on your battles, yet you're still going for another tournament! Do you worry about this sickness at all?"
“There’s no use giving thought to what you cannot change. As long as it leaves my mind well and only nips at my body, there’s little more I can ask for.” Her mouth curled in a smile-like fashion, baring teeth, “It makes crushing those conceited opponents of mine all the more enjoyable.”
Lou visibly was excited to be talking with last year’s champion and his normally high pitched voice got even higher. He smiled again and almost shouted. "Wow. This, this is really something! Seeing you come back is really something special. Now we’ve gotta know is there any pre match rituals you take part in? Do you eat before a match or hold off and let your hunger fuel you?"
Vic laughed slightly at Lou's question. "You have some sort of 'hungry angry dragon' motif you goin' for, Lou?" He laughed.
“Many humans have certain… assumptions about my race; few are true. Whilst hunger heightens the senses, they tend to say that ‘A dragon starved is a dragon stupid.’ Relying on a predator’s instinct certainly isn’t part of my strategy.”
Vic nodded sage-like, "Well now on to the IMPORTANT questions! ...Well they're all important, but our viewers want to hear the juicy stuff. Mainly, what is your opinion on your opposition in this year's Rumble? We've seen some tight competition before, but this year is almost scary! What are your thoughts?"
“I’ve seen a lot of my opponents, wandering around and flaunting their confidence; those are the ones I worry least about. I am not afraid…” she chuckled at the very notion, “…but it is the silent ones that I am most wary of.”
Lou piped in this time, "Really I don't think you have anything to be worried about though, right Champ? I suppose it is only decent to ask. Anyone you are rooting for if something would happen to you?"
“To think that I have no chance of losing would suggest arrogance. Should I fall… Well, there is a man who goes by the title ‘Doctor’, garbed in old-fashioned attire. I would claim that he has a chance at winning but I am, by no means, ‘rooting’ for anyone… other than myself, of course.”
"Well that aside, you are also one of the few competitors that was a part of last year's Rumble as well." Vic held up a pennet that read 'I Liked the Rumble Before it Was Cool! 2011' "I got this from the gift shop last year! Anyway, we feel like there's a bit of a difference in competition and just the way it's being handled, but we want your input, as well. Does this year's Rumble feel different from last year's?"
She nodded solemnly, “The atmosphere is tense; people have grown more serious in their efforts to win. The greatest shame is that the human who shared the final match with me last time – Amleth, I think his name was – did not return this year.”
"Well other than the fact that we are covering the Rumble this year, heh heh." Lou joked, nudging his co-host. "Well before we let you go back to your day just one final question. White or dark meat champ?"
“Anything bloody,” she muttered drily.
"Hahaha, of course! I knew it! Well as a treat for this treat you've given us, you can have the camera man! Enjoy, Champion!"
The camera seemed to edge away from the dragon, slowly but surely.
“I guess it will do,” she hissed, her nostrils twitching as her head shifted to face the screen directly. Her intentions must have been obvious but the pitiful human had no time to react. Within the blink of an eye, ravished jaws engulfed her prey, camera and all. The hungering entrance to her throat was the last thing that could be seen before the image cut to black.
"Well folks this segment of the show has been brought to you by DySon Corp's brand new fantasy adventure EXODUS (http://role-player.net/forum/showthread.php?t=23906). In stores now!" Vic gestured and a large logo appeared for the Roleplay.
"Don't forget that we will be doing a nation wide voting to see who is the peoples champ. So make sure you vote! Any final words Vic?"
"If you're not 18, VOTE ANYWAY! Haha, but seriously folks, its a big deal. You see, we're doing this big bet that if we get enough votes, the most voted-" Vic stops as he looks away from the camera, as if to someone slightly to the left. Mouth open, he nods once, then blushes and laughs nervously. "Eh heh, not supposed to mention that. Anyways! I'm Vic Tauhrius-"
“-and I'm Lou Suhr! Goodnight World and we’ll see you all next time!”
