Ann slammed her stuff in the back of the car. Grumbling angrily. She reached up to touch her hair, then remembered she was wearing a scarf, oh yeah, because she couldn't been seen in public like that. Whatever. She climbed into the car, refusing to talk to her dad. She couldn't believe he was doing this to her, a boarding school?!? On the west coast?! What had she done to deserve this? she always had good grades, and was to goody-goody little girl her dad wanted her to be. Dyed her hair once..and she was shipped off like a ups package. She glared out the window and watched the world go by as they drove to the airport.

~~~~~~
As the plane landed Annalise was still feeling mad, she had seen the brochure for this place, it was all plaid skirts and blonde hair, and people smiling fakely. She grimaced at the thought. She smoothed the navy blue skirt that her father made her wear, and longed for her comfortable jeans that were sitting in her suitcase, barely smuggled out, as most of her clothes were. She got off the plane and looked around, she noticed a guy in a chauffer hat holding a sign that said Nightingale&Kaze. Nightingale was her last name...but she didn't know anyone named Kaze... she shrugged and approached the man "I'm Annalise Nightingale" she said pleasantly enough, her father gave her strict orders to make a good first impression.
"Hello" the man replied in a thick accent "We wait for one more, then we leave" and he directed his attention elsewhere.
Annalise sighed and stood by the driver, waiting for whoever else they were going to pick up. She realized with dismay that she was still wearing the scarf..no matter, she would take it off in the car.
"Wake up you scumbag!" An escort yelled. Levias' eyes opened. "I am not asleep..." He said in a voice that gave many around him the chills. He stood, and grabbed his suitcases, all two of them, before walking towards the plane. He sat at the farthest from the cockpit anyone could be, and a light was broken, flickering on and off the entire ride.
He had never actually been on an airplane before, and the strange ear-popping sensation made him curious. He closed his eyes, again appearing to be asleep. Then, the pilot came on saying that they were landing. Levias shook his head.
I must have actually fallen asleep... He thought as he exited the plane, carrying a slightly heavy suitcase, and a near empty one. The near empty one seemed to move a little bit in the air every few seconds.
He noticed a large sign being held up by a stiff looking man, and a girl who seemed to be as miserable as he. He nodded towards the man, and walked up to him. His own scarf covered his mouth loosely, and his eyes were coverred by his hair. "Mr. Kazé?" The driver asked.
Levias nodded again, not responding with his voice on purpose. THe driver opened the door, and let the girl in first. Levias followed in, and kept quiet as the driver took his cases. He sat in the farthest corner from wither of the other two people in the car, and looked out the window as the people passed by.
Ann looked at the guy approaching and gave an involuntary step back, her father told her to be wary of people like that. She eyed him and climbed in the car, sitting by the other window. After a few moments she adjusted her skirt and pulled off her scarf, sighing with relief, she hated wearing that stuffy thing. She fluffed her bright pink hair and went back to gazing out the window.
When they got there it was just as she thought it would be. 3 huge brick buildings with lots of sports fields in between. As far as she knew, 1 building was for the the girls dorms, 1 for the boys and the middle for the classes. She watched all the girls walking by, clutching their books and tossing their hair like cheerleaders. All wearing polo's and expensive jeans. She glanced down at her "I'm selling bibles" outfit and was glad she at least took off her scarf. She couldn't wait to change into something she liked.
She scrambled out of the car and nearly tripped on the hated skirt. She regained herself and headed to the back of the trunk to get her things. Paying no attention to the rough looking guy she spent the past hour with. He looked like bad news and Annalise was trained to stay away from people like that.
Levias stood out of the car, carrying the two suitcases. He watched in a non-interested look as the car went away. Sighing agitatedly, he began to walk towards a building that was larger than the other two.
Walking in teh door, he got many stares. Most shocked and disgusted, others curious and well-intentioned. He walked up to the desk, and asked for his dorm number and schedule with the voice that made everyone nearby want to evacuate immediately.
The now-scared receptionist handed it to him, smiling so fakely that it would make a celebrity's smile look real. Levias nodded, and left, feeling eyes on him from all around. While the environment around him was warm, he emanated an empty chill that washed through many around him.
Finding his dorm, he found it was in the farthest corner of the Boys dorm, and upon inspection, it was the smallest. It was still pretty big to Levias. Actually bigger than his old apartment. He set his bags down, and almost instantly, a small, dog-like creature jumped out of the lighter one. It scampered around the new room, sniffing around.
After he finished putting his stuff away, he laid down on the twin-sized bed, looking up to his ceiling. "I hope no one fucking bothers me...I will hate it here if people keep talking to me..." He said, still watching the ceiling
Ann saw the boy walk to the boys dorm, so she assumed she was supposed to go to the girls dorm. She headed over there and collected her dorm room and schedule information. As she turned around she was greeted by a smiling brunette, wearing the same clothes as everyone else here.
"Hi!" she said over-excitedly "I'm Jessica, and I'm your new roommate and will be helping you around campus!"
Annalise blinked for a moment before saying dumbly "Is there a dress code here? Cause my dad didn't tell me anything about that"
Jessica looked at her quizzically "No, everyone's wearing different clothes, why would you think that?"
Ann gazed around, the only different she could see was that some of them had different colored polo's on. "Oh okay" she said lamely and followed the girl to her new room.
When she got there she immediately changed into a light pink tank top, dark blue jeans and black boots. Then she proceeded to unpack.
After his exhilerating ceiling watching, Levias decided to listen to music. It was better than doing nothing all day. So, he popped the Radio (Which was beside his bed) CD player open, and put in a yellow CD, labeled 'MUSIC 1 - Angry'
As the first guitar riff began, Levias began bobbing his head rhythmically. He loved rock, and pretty much hated everything else in the mmusic area. A knocking sound was heard, and Levias turned the volume down, walking over to the door, and looking through the peep-hole. A guy dressed similarly to him was standing there, looking bored. The guys hair was spiked up, and it had red highlights in it.
Levias opened the door, and leaned against the frame. "Yea?" He asked. The other guy smirked. "It's about time another goth came to the school. I'm Steele." He said, extending his hand slightly. Levias looked at it, then back up to him.
The guy nodded, still smirking. "Ah, the silent type of goth, nice. Mind If I come listen? At least before those god damned preps come in and moan and bitch about the music." He said. Levias comtemplated, analyzing Steele.
"Sure..." He said, moving out of the way. The other goth walked in, looking around before laying eyes on the small wolf running around the room. "Nice man, That's the first wolf I've seen that is domesticated." He said, watching with interest.
"That's because it's illegal..." Levias said, stretching slightly. Then, he turned the song 'Bad Religion' Up in volume as it got into the first verse. "So, What about these preps?" Levias asked.
Steele sighed. "I don't know where to begin...They pretty much own the school, considerring how rich they all are. I'm only here 'cause my parents sent me here to make me leave. The government paid for it. I guess the same happened to you?" He asked, raising a brow.
Levias closed his eyes. "You could say that..." He said, before another knock came. Steele grimaced, and Levias was prepared for anything, even preparing his shiv (sort of a small knife) in his left hand. He looked through the peephole, and saw two guys with sweaters across their shoulders, holding tennis rackets.
He opened teh door, staring at them emotionlessly. "What?" He asked. One of them blanked out with fear, while the other stood snobbish. "What teh hell are you listening to you fag?" He asked. "It's better than the horse shit that you listen to..." Levias said, closing the door. Steele was smirking. "I'm guessing you're not the ordinary goth...I gotta go anyways, promised my girl I would hang out with her..." He said, leaving with a wave.
Levias scratched his head idly, thinking about why the guy had come to him, but soon just stopped thinking, adn turned his music off. He pulled his hood up, and opened the door, closing it after he left, and locking it. There was a small scampering sound on the door, probably Shadow (THe wolf).
Levias walked around campus, watching many people pass by him, glaring or staring at him. He kept his shoulders hunched over, and lowered his head, in a look of depression.
As Ann was unpacking, Jessica was talking her ear off.
"..And so I said to him, 'you can't treat me like that, I'm more important than that and I don't this!' and then I got up and left"
"good for you" Ann replied boredly, this was the 3rd time she's told her a story like this. It seems that the guys here weren't just preps, they also liked to take advantage of girls.
When Ann finally finished unpacking. She brushed her hair until it shone pink and tucked her jeans into her boots. Jessica came up behind her "You look nice. But I could never pull something like that off" she said smiling
"Thanks" Annalise said happily, it was good one person at least thought so and didn't expect her to be a polo clone. She smiled and Jessica suggested they explore the campus. Ann agreed, there was nothing better to do and followed Jessica to the courts outside. The sun was just barely starting to set and the sky was tinged a bright pink, like her hair, Ann noticed with dismay.
Levias found a good spot to relax. Up about a story into a tree that stood in the middle of the courtyard. He could hear everyone's conversation's around him, some disgusted him.
Let's go back to my room again tonight babe...
Levias shook his head, trying to kick the sounds away (not literally). A fleeting thought came to him as he thought about his new life here.
I might finally find a way to him...
(Eh, writers block)
Ann and Jessica walked around the grassy courtyard. Ever so often Jessica would point out a random boy that was apparently popular and everyone knew. They all looked the same to Annalise though. She looked at all the boys doubtfully but didn't voice her opinions.
After the 3rd time they passed a big oak Ann decided it was time for bed and requested they go inside. Jessica agreed and they headed up to their dorm room. As Ann climbed into bed, she imagined how her first day of classes would go...
Levias
03-03-2010, 01:44 AM
Levias had long since left the tree, instead sleeping in the confines of his warm bed. He had the fan on all the way high, a silent Whooping noise made its way around. His hair moved around slightly as he watched the ceiling. His music was now playing softly.
A new beginning...A new life...Will it be the same?
Levias awoke slowly, drowsily getting out of bed and grabbing a towel. He walked down the hall to the Men's Shower Room. Taking a quick, warm shower, he rushed out in his towel as others began to pack in
He was already ready by the time most got out of their showers. He walked past many guys talking about their latest 'conquest'. He scowled. He hated the guys who treated Women like property.
I'm not all bad...
He thought this, proving that the gangster does in fact have mroal codes hidden inside of him.
Sorry, I have no inspiration for anything at the moment
((It's all good, there's not much you can say yet lol))
Ann popped out of bed with a start, she saw Jessica's sleeping figure and remembered where she was. She groaned and fell back into bed rubbing her eyes pitifully.
Finally she got up and stumbled to the shared bathrooms wear a few other early risers were getting ready, most of them smiled politely but after they saw her pink hair, quickly averted their gaze. She looked down sheepishly and got in the shower, and dried her hair, and did her make-up in record time.
She ran back to her room and got dressed in a sunset orange tank top, jeans and the same boots she wore the day before. She pulled her pink hair back in a bun and smiled at her reflection..here we go she thought and headed for her first class.
The walk through the early morning campus relaxed Levias. His large headset was plugged into an iPod Nano that was a couple years old. He had stolen it from some unlucky passerby in the urban area of where he lived.
He looked at his schedule again. And up to the main building. He walked up the outside staircase that led up to the second and third stories. Once at the second floor landing, he turned to the doors and pushed them open, walking in. Two teachers were sipping coffee, both looking like they had woken up on the bad side of the bed.
He followed the hallways littered with trophies and awards, to a room that read "Ms. Ren". Levias entered, looking at the woman at the desk. She turned to him and smiled. "Ah, You must be Levias, it's a pleasure to meet you. I'm always glad to have new students." She said, before waving her hand towards the back. "There is only one row left, so just pick a chair back there."
Great, a happy-go-lucky AP Statistics teacher...
Annalise played with her pink hair nervously as she walked through the doors, she was in all AP classes obviously, her dad wouldn't settle for anything less. The teacher pointed her to a empty seat, next to where that punk kid from the car was sitting. Ann sighed and plopped down in the seat next to him. She pulled out a couple of notebooks and a pencil and waited for the class to start.
They were one of the first one's here since neither of them got hung up talking to friends, so it was pretty quiet...
Levias
03-21-2010, 06:13 PM
Levias heard another person enter the room. The teacher directed her to the seat next to him, much to his disappointment. Piece of shit school... He grumbled mentally. Another student entered, her clothes discheveled slightly, and she seemed to be panting and sweaty.
Even the simplest of minds could have put that one together. She wasn't running, because it was still early for class. Levias shook his head, removing the thoughts completely.
As more and more students walked in, he saw Steele come in. As soon as Steele saw him, He smirked, and walked to the seat in front of Levias. "What's up?" Asked the smirking goth. Levias grunted, before saying "Nothing..."
Steele smirked yet again, before he turned to the girl in front of him. Levias assumed it was his girlfriend or something, considerring he talked about 'his girl' the day before.
The teacher started talking, and soon they were all in the Hell that is Statistics
Ann sat and stared blankly off most of the class, ignoring others looking and snickering at her pink hair. When class was finally over she collected her things and headed out, trying not to make eye contact with anyone. Why did her dad have to send her to this heck hole? It was horrible, she only had one friend so far, and she was hanging out with friends of her own. Annalise felt very alone and vulnerable
((Sorry, writers block )).
Levias
03-23-2010, 02:48 AM
As class went by, Levias noticed two things. One; Statistics was relatively easy for him (Just like most math courses), And two; People here were such stereotypes of the typical prep, that he almost choked on the air of Pop and Hip-hop music.
Another thing, they seemed very prejudice of anything that is different (Also confirming the stereotype). They stared at the girl who had rode up with him to the school throughout the entire time like she had just stripped naked. Some snickered. Other's bashed.
Levias growled. He has a high respect value for all women, No matter who or what they are. He has never so much as uttered anything about a woman unless he thought she crossed the line completely.
These people had no shame in treating another human being as an animal. He wanted to talk to her. He wanted to help her. But he didn't. He sighed in exasperation as the bell went off. Watching the girl for a moment, Levias weighed his decisions.
Decision 1: Be an ass like you always are, just ignore all the stuff that happens to people around you.
Decision 2: This is the chance for a new beginning. You could make some friends. It's not like your going anywhere for a while.
He sighed again, And began to walk up to her. "Hey..." He mumbled, looking down to his feet. He much resembled a small boy in a new town
Bia
03-23-2010, 09:27 PM
It took Annalise to realize he was talking to her. When she did, she immediately took a involuntary step back, her dad as always told her to stay away from people like this, that they were bad little criminals with not self-respect...or something like that. But on the other hand, he's the only one who had been nice to her (besides Jessica) since she got here.
"Um Hi" she said, feeling bad for stepping back before, maybe her dad wasn't right.
Levias
03-24-2010, 12:22 AM
Levias' lips twitched into a frown. People already were this disgusted of him? Sometimes I don't have to even do or say anything. They just hate the way I look... His thoughts were based on his previous experiences. When she spoke instead of walking away, he looked up at her, his frown twitching back up into a flat line.
"I swear I'm not gonna bite, if that's what you're worried about." He said in an attempt at humor. "Um, I sort of got forced here, and wanted to try to at least make a few friends. Though I already know I won't make many with all the stereotypes around here. I figured you were different than the rest..." He stopped himself, cursing mentally.
I never babble. That was weird... He looked down at her instead of up into space as he thought.
Bia
03-24-2010, 08:43 PM
Ann brightened up a little bit, he seemed nice enough, maybe her dad really was just a paranoid old croon as she always thought he was. She smiled and said "No it's okay, it's my fault, I sorta got forced here too...I'm Annalise" she stuck out her hand, as her dad had always taught her to when meeting new people. I guess old habits die hard cause she couldn't help noticing his punk nature and pierced face.
Levias
03-25-2010, 12:45 AM
He noticed her face lighten up slightly, which made him feel slightly better about deciding to actually initiate a conversation with somebody. "Levias..." He said, extending his hand.
Curiousity killed the cat, but the cat has nine lives. "Why'd you dye your hair? Just wondering..." He said, smirking slightly.
Bia
03-30-2010, 11:20 PM
Ann looked down, self-concious, "Oh, it was just a dumb prank, when I was mad at my dad...he can be pretty controlling. But it kind of backfired...and I was sent here" The warning bell rang and Ann started walking "Umm, I guess I should get to class...I'll see you around?" she smiled hopefully and waved before heading off to her class.
Levias
03-31-2010, 07:15 PM
Levias shook his head, chuckling lightly. "Wow, that sucks..." He commented on her story of the hair.
He nodded towrads her. "I guess so..." He said, watching her go off a couple steps before turning around and pulling his schedule out of his baggy pants.
He glared at the next class. AP Human Geography He thought with a mental groan, and began to walk towards his class
Bia
03-31-2010, 08:58 PM
Ann pulled out her schedule and glanced down AP civics oh that's nice. She found the classroom, and was glad to see that she had this class with Jessica too, she smiled and sat down next to her. A few of Jessica's friends gave her dirty looks but a look from Jessica quickly silenced them and she was tolerated by them for the remainder of the class.
After that class, it was 1st lunch period, she had 2nd lunch period she she headed off to her other class, AP Human Geography which sounded just like a fancy word for Sex ed. but Ann hoped it wasn't...
Levias
04-01-2010, 02:10 AM
Levias sighed as he learned about the 'Fertile Crescent' and when Man first began to farm and stop having to gather/hunt. He groaned to himself when the teacher announced homework. The male teacher, known as Mr. Burt, seemed like one of those old guys that would offer 'extra credit' to his female students.
Levias smirked as he mentally bashed the man who passed Levias the worksheet. Levias nodded, before getting up and leaving.
AP Computer Science...
Levias smirked. He knew everything about computers. He could hack into any mainframe that wasn't the Pentagon itself. He noticed a ponytail of pink coming towards his previous class. "Careful, he might try to look down your shirt..." He said, smirking as he passed her. He didn't have to see her reaction, he already figured it was either complete shock or something along those lines.
He entered his Computer class, and instantly walked up to the teacher. "What are you going to be coverring over the next full semester or so?" He asked bluntly. The teacher lost his composure for a minute. "And who might you be?" He asked.
Levias sighed, and said "I'm the new student. Levias. Now, tell me." He ordered, causing the teacher to raise an eyebrow at his assertiveness. Well we will be learning how to create AntiVirus Software, Simple Programs, and Some Complex Programs." He said.
Levias growled for a moment, scaring anyone in the vicinity. "I want to know what you are teaching specifically..." He said in a low voice. The teacher gulped, asked for a moment, and went to his computer, printing up the file that he had on his desktop.
"Here you go..." He said nervously, handing Levias the paper. Levias glared at him, before reading through the list. He scowled, and handed it back. "I'll be done in a month..." He said, walking over to one of the PC's against the wall, and signing in using his 'last name' and his birthday.
-
Levias glared at the teacher who he had just corrected twice, emberassing him in front of the other students. The teacher glared back. Levias shook his head as he left, before heading for the courtyard for the 45-minute lunch period.
As Annalise headed to AP Human Geography she was surprised when Levias seemed to appear out of nowhere and whisper "Careful, he might try to look down your shirt..." Ann gave a confused and shocked look over her shoulder, but he disappeared just as fast as he had appeared and Ann didn't get a chance to say anything.
She walked to her class in confusion, but immediatly got what he was saying when she saw the teacher watching some girls butt as she walked past. Ann nervously tugged on her orange tank top and sat near the back, being careful not to lean over. She used her pink hair to cover most of her shoulders and made a mental note to start bringing a jacket to this class. A couple other girls looked like they had the same idea, but even more disturbing, other girls looked like they liked the attention and were leading the teacher on. Ann grimaced in disgust and sat umcomfortably for the rest of the class.
After that was over, it was her lunch hour, she headed over to the cafeteria, bought herself a fruit salad, a vitimin water, and a bag of chips. She looked at the cafe, watching all the cliches claim their tables and was unsure of where to sit. She could always sit with Jessica, but Jessica was one of the popular cliche and Ann couldn't help remembering the hostile way they treated her in civics. She was just about to say "screw it" and sit with Jessica but she happened to get a glance out the window on her way over.
The campus's courtyard (http://franklin.thefuntimesguide.com/images/blogs/brownstone-courtyard-water-fountain-and-benches.jpg) was really beautiful and Ann just couldn't resist it. She gave a fleeting glance to Jessica, who seemed happy with her friends, she headed outside, a few other people were sitting there, among them some punk kid who reminded Ann of Levias.
She sat on one of the benches and ate her salad, happy to be outside and in the nice sunshine, away from the uncomfortablness of a new school. She tossed her pink hair over her shoulder and the punk kid Ann had noticed before sidled up to her.
"Hey, nice hair. I'm Steele. What are you doing in a school like this?"
Ann glanced over at him surprised, "Oh, thanks. I'm Annalise, but most people just call me Ann...I got sent here because of the hair, my dad is kind of uptight" understatement of the year.. Ann couldn't help thinking. While also wondering how she kept attracting these punk nere-do-well's who her father always warned her to keep away from...was it the hair?
((Yay, my writer's block is gone! Also, hope you don't mind me using your character...))
Levias
04-19-2010, 02:18 AM
((Sorry about the long wait, I've had a lot of writer's block until recently, and I still have some leftover, so please bear with me))
As Levias finished his way into the courtyard, he noticed Steele and his friends. Deciding against going over willingly, he quickly found a tree, and began to scale up the branches. From his position he could hear all of the different conversations going on around him. This included Steele talking to Ann.
Levias blinked as he pulled his earphones out of his pocket, and began to listen to the song 'Home' by Three Days Grace. Fortune was not kind to him though, as soon an earphone was (forcefully) tugged out of his ear, and he was pulled on by the arm, causing him to fall and land on his but on the ground. He looked up to see Steele, who offered him an arm to help him up. Levias took it, and stood up, noticing Ann sitting with the rest of his group.
Sighing as Steel began to talk animatedly to him about meeting his girlfriend and Ann, Levias realized he could'nt snake out of this situation. He sat across from Ann, nodding at her, before Steel began introducing him to all of them.
Bia
Annalise sat there fingering the wrapper on her bottle nervously, she had never sat with people like this before, in fact she wasn't even planning on sitting with them. It just kind of happened. Here she was, sitting and trying to enjoy a nice lunch in the courtyard, and suddenly she's surrounded by these kids in bandanna's and spike bracelets.
Steel left for a moment, and pulled some guy out of a tree, Ann noticed with surprise that it was Levias. He came down and sat with them, and Ann smiled politely at him when he nodded. She was grateful though that sitting with these people didn't require her to talk, Steel definitely talked enough for the lot of them. Like Jessica did. Ann couldn't help giggling to herself as she found this similarity between the 2. They were so different.
"Hey whatcha laughing at?" Steel interrupted his own story to ask her this.
Ann blushed, caught off guard, "Oh nothing" she cleared her throat, "Just a memory..." she looked around sheepishly and after a moment Steel shrugged and continued on with his story.
Levias
'Damn him for noticing me...' He thought, looking over to the talkative goth. He nodded at Ann, and sat down, exhaling slightly as he did so. His nap had been interrupted and he probably was going to be a bit cranky because of it.
"So, how did ou get dragged here? Was it the hair?" He asked with a smirk, looking up at Ann once more. He chuckled and shook his head. Isn't it funny how the smallest decisions make big changes?" He asked once more.
(I feel horrible right now. I forgot about this after I got over my writer's block, because I'm writing my novel-in-progress again. Please forgive me D: )
((it's cool, honestly I kind of forgot about it too XD))
Annalise removed her gaze from the water bottle, "Umm, yeah, my dad got really mad cause I dyed it, told me I couldn't come back until it grew out. So I'm stuck here for at least a year..." she fingered her pink hair nervously, waiting to see their reactions. "My dad's a cop...so he's kind of uptight."
Levias
05-09-2010, 01:56 AM
Levias frowned slightly. "Isn't your hair color supposed to be your choice? He fits my stereo type of cops already." He said, looking angrily down at the table. "Controlling, uptight...Thats two off the list. Any other remarkable...Sorry, cops are one of my peeves..." He explained himself, feeling ashamed. He hid his eyes with his hair, before looking back up.
His eyes set straight into a glare as some pompous-jock poured milk into his hood, spilling it into his back and down to his pants.
The next second could be considerred a blur to many people as he literally side-flipped off of the ground, kicking the guy in the face while doing so, and landed in a crouched position next to the sophomore.
"You might want to learn how to actually defend yourself before picking a fight with me..." He whispered, before the jock was lifted up by his shirt. "Now, I want every single one of you morons to leave me alone. Do I make my point clear with this kid right here?" He asked, throwing him down in fornt of his friends, who then scrambled off to the nurse to fix his bleeding mouth.
Levias sighed, finishing a snack that he stole from a passerby, and began walking away, peeling his hoodie off. He carried his backpack in one hand, and his milk-soaked clothing in the other. Just before he got inside the building, purposefully ignoring Steele calling out to him, the PA speaker's came on.
"Mr. Levias, please report to the principle's office..."
Sighing and slightly shaking his head, he did so in a hurry to get rid of Steele and whoever else decided to try to talk to him after that.
Bia
Ann sat in shock while this all happened. It all went very quickly and by the time Levias was summoned to the office, Annalise was still confused as to exactly what happened.
She stood up, tossing her half-eaten salad and chips into a nearby trash can, she made to ask Levias what happened, but judging from the way he brushed Steele off, Ann figured she better lay off.
She headed off to her next class in confused silence. Part of her thought Levias over-reacted, the other part was mad at the jocks who did it to him in the first place. Either way, someone was out of line. She sat through Advanced English not really paying attention, brushing her fingers through her bright pink hair and staring out the window.
Levias wandered over to the principle's office, which was in the Attendance building. He sighed for the umpteenth time that day, and entered the crisp, contemporary building. The inside was like a hospital. White everywhere. Levias knew that from many times in the dreaded places.
"Mister Levias, Principle Morgans would like to talk to you." The woman said, looking up at him sternly. Levias only nodded, heading to the office labeled 'Principal'.
The man inside reminded Levias of someone. He was lanky, middle-aged, a straight face, and ice blue eyes. "Have a seat young man. You may as well be comfortable." He said, standing behind his desk, looking straight into Levias' dead eyes.
Levias did as he was told, still trying to think of who the man reminded him of. "I take it you know why you are here?" The man asked, sitting down. His eyes set on Levias, as if he expected something.
"Yea, I think. Does it have to do with what just happened in the courtyard?" Levias asked in a monotone voice that made him sound completely dead to the world. The principle nodded, before leaning towards Levias.
"I can't put a face on you. Your background shows why you would act the way you do, but many teens in this kind of situation don't exceed academically. Why do you?" He asked, his blue eyes shifting to display a curious shade.
"I strive to exceed in anything that people expect me to fail in. This includes academics." Levias explained, leaning back, relaxing in his chair.
"Fair enough. Now, onto the matter of that sophomore boy. Care to explain?" Mr. Morgans asked, raising a brow. Levias shrugged. "He poored milk down my hoodie. I put fear into his heart and his friends." He explained, standing and turning around, reveling white stains all the way down his back in a straight line.
The principle sighed, shaking his head. "I can only let you off with a warning since this is your first day Mr. Levias. Please try to behave." And With that, the bell rang, and Levias left the building.
After English Ann walked down the halls. People gave her weird glances but Ann had grown used to them and didn't even acknowledge them anymore. She was still twirling that same piece of pink hair around her finger as she entered her next class. World Cultures. She chose a desk in the back row, already bored on her first day of school.
Levias walked towards his next class. World Cultures. He scowled. He had already taken this course, so it would be an easy A.
Then he saw her. He noticed her pink hair standing out among the crowd. It was, he decided, always easy to spot her.
He smirked, but then frowned. What did she think of how he acted? He had just made a friend, or acquaintance, and he might have ruined that already. He sighed as he entered the class, moving up to the teacher, who told him to sit in the back row.
Annalise started when she saw Levias, she didn't think he'd be back so soon. He sat down not far from her and Ann gave him a slight smile, she still wasn't sure how she felt about him, but she knew for sure she didn't want to get on his bad side.
The teacher called attention and she turned back, trying to look like she was paying attention, she wasn't really in the mood to start a conversation with Levias just yet, he seemed a little dangerous...she thought back to what her dad had told her a few years back, as they were driving down the street in his police cruiser, back when she had normal brown hair. Her dad had pointed out some punk kids on the side of the road and said "See them? Those kind of people are filth and always will be, its a darn shame to see them throw their lives away, don't ever socialize with them" Ann had just nodded mutely, she'd heard this speech before, and she had accepted it at the time. Besides, she was never even going to go near them in her life right? They were on totally different sides of the economy.
Ann sighed, it was all so simple then. Now here she was, at a boarding school in California, with pink hair and no friends. Well besides Jessica...and maybe Levias. She looked over at him, with his many piercings and punk clothes, when did it all become so complicated?
Levias noticed her small smile. He nodded at her, hoping to at least redeem himself soon. He didn't need to be alone because of his tendencies.
Levias just could not focus. Too many things were running around his head. He noticed many people giving him fearful glances. He lowered his head onto the desk and into his arms, hiding from the world. He just wanted to go away from here and be alone.
'Fucking preps...' He thought, scowling into his own arms. He brought his eyes up slightly, and no one was looking at him. He snuck a glance at Ann, and noticed she was - at least pretending - paying attention. Then she sighed, and Levias looked away, towards the window. He gave out a quiet sigh, before burying his face back into his own arms.
After that class, they had their last class of the day. Physical Education Ugh. She shuffled to the gym lazily. The coach was evil duh and the girls were all perfect looking in their gym outfits double duh.
After class she headed back to her dorm, lugging her homework and books, collapsing on her bed. Jessica went out to the nearby town to go shopping with her friends, so Annalise was here alone.
After failed attempts at homework and general feeling sorry for herself, she grabbed her jacket, and headed outside, walking through the courtyard, kicking up rocks and grass.
Levias grumbled his way through his last period. It was AP Physics. Not terribly difficult for him, but the homework was a pain. "Good thing I can BS things with amazing skill..." He said to himself as he exited the big building, and began to head over to his dorm room.
Once there, he looked through his homework, finishing anything that would take little or no effort at all. Like Math. He shook his head, and cocked his head up as he heard a shuffling sound. A yipping noise met Levias' ears as Shadow jumped up on top of his bed. He smiled softly at it, and pet it quietly. Shadow looked at the door, and whimpered, going up to it and pawing it.
Levias chuckled. "Alright buddy, I'll let you out. Come on." He said, offering his hand. The fox climbed up and into his baggy pants' deep pockets. It hung out like a normal dog would from a car window. Levias chuckled, before walking out, and into the courtyard. He looked up at a flash of pink, raising a brow. 'What's she doing here alone?' He thought, looking on after her, not able to decide whether to go talk to her or leave her be.
Ann ran a hand through her pink hair before sticking it quickly back in her jacket, it was chilly tonight. She headed to the old oak that she had seen Levias climb out of before, and looked up it confused...how'd he do that? Ann for one had no climbing skills and she couldn't see how he had gotten up there...there weren't any footholds or anything...
She walked around it a couple times, as if there were some secret entrance thing or whatever. After that she sighed and sat down beside it, contemplating her being here. It was only the first day and she was already being treated like a freak. She only had 2 friends and one of them her dad would have a heart attack if he ever knew.
Levias watched her as she stopped at the tree he had claimed as his own. She seemed to be examining it. She walked around it, looking up and down for something. Then she stopped and sat down, looking like she was in thought. Levias looked down to Shadow, who was looking at Ann with a cocked head.
"Go say hi." Levias said, letting the fox go. It ran through the grass and went in front of Ann, happily yipping and waving its tail. It then proceeded to nuzzle on her leg. Levias walked foward, sitting next to her. "What are you doing by your lonesome self out here?"
Ann was just about to say "screw it" and call her dad to beg for forgiveness when a small dog came running up to her. She jumped about 2 feet before she realized it wasn't going to attack her. And reached a tentative hand out to pet it. It was small enough to be a chihuahua but it was way to fluffy and cute to be one...
She was just about to check it's gender when Levias came up, sitting next to her. speak of the devil. Annalise couldn't help thinking, it was only natural he show up just when she'd been thinking about him. She decided to ignore his question and instead asked "Is this your dog?"
Levias chuckled after she asked the question. "Yes. You shouldn't be that scared of him, I know he looks vicious though." Levias said with complete sarcasm, before chuckling at the recent memory of her jumping into the air. "He's a fox though, and he doesn't like being called a dog." Levias warned, nodding at it. It was looking away, almost murmuring in growls, before turning and yipping, once more looking at her. "He approves of you though. Look out, he might jump into your pocket at some point, as long as he can fit in." Levias said, before chuckling and laying back.
"So why were you staring at this tree anyways? I saw you circle it at least twice. Are you wondering how I can climb these?" Levias asked in genuine curiosity. He looked to Shadow, who had discreetly curled into a ball in her lap. He snickered softly, and shook his head. Shadow, you sly fox...
