The Setting:

http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y263/GissyR/INSS12-1.jpg
INSS 12 population: 750 humans, 100.000 A.I lives. The Idealist Network Society (INS) is preparing to start the Genesis project, which is the construction of the first human city on Utopia. You (your character) are one of two-hundred and fifty “New Humans” joining society. You are part of a special Heart Project code name Batch AC2. The Heart Project is the 25 year process of creating a “New Human” from the stage of cryopreservation to an INS citizen. The method of producing a superior human is a form of conditioning that requires the individual to be exposed to INS beliefs, knowledge, and ideas to partially submerge their individuality for the good of the Network. Aside from the specialized skills which become their professions, the individual is trained in military and classroom instructions, basic marksmanship with individually-assigned weapons, field maintenance of weapons, hand-to-hand combat (MA), physical fitness training, basic first aid, basic vehicle (land and aerial) training, and basic survival techniques. This conditioning is essential for military function because the world of Utopia requires people to endure stress and perform actions which are simply not present in normal life. The training system is designed to educate the individual to suit the organization, whilst retaining key elements of the individual’s personality. AC2 personnel receive additional training, and physical enhancements to make them stronger and enduring. AC2 personnel are divided according to their chosen professions between the three INS departments.

You are a young human survivor. You have survived the extinction of your people and our world. For the last 25 years you have been educated and trained by artificial inteligent lives (machines) with the tools to rebuild the foundations of IN Society in the strange planet of Utopia, our new land of promise. You were once a frozen embryo in cryopreservation for many years, once removed you were thawed and transfer to an artificial life form –Mother – for assistant hatching. Your new life has just begun.
Your ancestors built the AI robots that nourished and protect you around a technology more advanced than any other found on Utopia. It is up to your generation now to rekindle humanity, to make a civilization without dictatorship or fanaticism. Your parent is Mother (a machine) who nurtured and educated you with the tools to rebuild our civilization.
Governor Smith is our leader; he is our elder, he is the first human to be born from cryopreservation. He is the governor of INSS 12. When he speaks, we listen! At least until you’ve worked your way up in rank, then you can speak to him eye to eye. His right hand is Mother who provides spiritual guidance, and all knowledge regarding our technology and earth history.
We believe in science and engineering, the energy that fills every piece of technology with life and conscience. Since the beginning we are adherence to the teachings of Mother, to our technology we owe, if not our faith, our dependability. She watches over us and protects us. Remember as long as you care, repair, and enhance our technology, you too will advance into a superior human.
We value our freedom, equality, and knowledge. We believe that our force lies in our solidarity and technology, if we can persuade all Utopians to be civilized like us, we will share our technology and make Utopia the perfect world.
The IN Charter:

You must never share our technology with Roliatis or Haliatans. They don’t understand us and we are guarded of their true intentions.
Never breach the Law of the Idealist Network.
Never join with another human with the intentions of reproducing by copulating.
Never leave your duties unfinished for we depend on your ability to complete your work in a timely fashion.
Never take the life of another human or place a human life in danger for your own gain. We are a network and all human life is valued, counted and depended upon for the completion of our work.
Never be tempted to join Roliati religion. They are against our sense of independence.
Never venture down into the caves of Utopia.

IN believes that it is humanity's moral obligation to make other worlds suitable for human life, as a continuation of the history of life transforming the environments around it. Ever since our arrival we have been building the solid foundations for our future civilization.

We must develop our individual strengths and technology, and continue to expand on Utopia successfully.
We must improve our knowledge of the planet, in science and engineering to make better AI’s and enhance the extraction of resources.
We must build a QPM Station on Utopia.
We must establish contact with the network, and search space for other human survivors.

For the moment we remain neutral in our relationship with the Utopian Factions. We have kept our distance and continue to observe them, studying them.

Friendly Tribes: (To be announced)
We do not consider Utopians our enemies nor our friends. Time is our only enemy.

Enemy Tribes: (To be announced)
Predators: Utopia is home to many wild and alien animals, many of them will attack on sight!

We are in need of engineers and scientist to enhance our technology and build our colonies; medics to improve the quality of life and environmentalist to help us understand our new world. You can be a valuable member by joining our ranks and maintaining the vision of IN above all others.
Our people are defended by AI who may come to your aide once you've accepted our vision. The more you act for the good of the Network the more you're noble deeds will be rewarded. The network does not tolerate error, but we understand it is human nature to err. Every human has an equal right, to obtain instruction, to choose their own goals, as long as they don’t violate the Charter of the Idealist Network.
Our Government body orbits space aboard INSS 12, and our first City, Genesis, will be elevated in the Lake Lands. The lakes are by far the most abundant of resources and beautiful place on Utopia and to the keen eye offers every living essence needed for creation.
The principal reason given is the creation of conservationism to support a world suitable for habitation by humans. As we become skilled in the ways of green politics you will learn to tame the wildlife and expand.

The followers of the Goddess of Life call themselves Roliati in their language, words of this language elude any reasonable translation, and their true meaning is apprehensible only to Roliati themselves. Roliatis are convinced they were the first race to come into the world. They believe sublime forces created their wonderful world, and use their supernatural talent (magic) and skillfulness to develop its mystery to the utmost perfection. They unwaveringly believe that, just as every element of the universe has a purpose, every Utopian must be enlightened through Roliati doctrines in order for them to find their true place in society. Roliatis believe unshakably they are an instrument in the hands of the demiurge forces, their Goddess of Life - Evarista. The Roliatis are proud legatees of a vast Empire and have a large fan of acolytes throughout Utopia. Incessantly they improve magical technologies, and are highly cultivated mystics well versed in the art of magic; the Roliatis are both a quixotic and dominant religion. Roliaties live on the surface of the planet, and structure their civilizations in accordance with their innate territorial preference. They’ve built an empire that expands throughout the forest, jungle, and water lands, current leadership is Empress Yvani.

They got their name from an old house of people, whose head warlord founded the underground city Oasis Nest. They were Roliati once, devoted acolytes of the goddess until Halliatan, once a Roliati Minister, promised to endow those who would spend their lives serving him with greater power. According to the Myth their power is also their curse. Thousands of warriors accepted secretly his gift. They could never be the same again, but they acquired enormous strength and the ability to manipulate aberrant magical powers. The new religion turned out to be quite prolific and soon the new cult outnumbered Roliaties. Enraged Roliaties attacked their former kinsmen in order to avoid further contamination and banished them to the dark lands. Haliatans disliked their position as outcast acolytes and declared independence, creating an absolute monarchy, claiming the underground caves and desert region where they rein supreme. Unlike Roliati religion they strived for self gratification and yield blindly to their animal instincts. They embody the very essence of force, but at the same time humanly sage and competent. Current leader is King Mek-Tus.

UTOPIA
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y263/GissyR/utopiaplanet.jpg
Utopia is a captivating planet steep in mystery where anthropomorphized creatures reign supreme. Its rich biodiversity has evolved within the last century, it has multiple ecosystems: scorching deserts, cool mountains, dense woodlands and forests, immaculate lakes and rivers, abundant jungles, and the eerie caves sustaining complex organisms.

The peoples of Utopia are known as Utopians. The natives are intelligent animal creatures. In their human likeness males are big and muscular, their rough features, specially the face witness their animal nature. The females are lean and brawny, usually more limber and their features although smooth bare the same sharp animal features. The hominoids are nonetheless superior mammals. There are four distinctive genuses on Utopia: Felids, Hominidae, Squamatas, and Ursine. (You will learn more about the races once the story begins.)

In their quest to build a culture and civilization, for over three-hundred years the Utopian peoples became subject to sporadic racial warfare which ended with the Great Genocide of the Drakomatas and the separation of the species. Utopian civilization is composed of two opposing factions: Roliati and Haliatan. Their religious deference and conservation have divided the planet for the last three-hundred years. And the mysterious extraterrestrial beings, the humans, now bring a new threat to their world.

Earth no longer processed anthropogenic effects, warming and sea level rise rapidly continued for the last four-centuries, and irreversible greenhouse gas levels destabilized. For years the higher spheres of society understood that in order to survive extinction mankind would need to leave earth and start anew on another human-habitable planet. UnitedTech, the world’s colossal corporation, which controlled 90% of earth’s technology and resources, secretly instigated and financed the Idealist Network (IN) – a conglomeritic of earth’s top specialists in robotics, engineering, science, and military power. The Network immediately starts the construction of the first colossal space station that would become a space colony for earth’s elite society, the Idealist Network Society (INS).
On the eve of the year 2500, 13 of the world’s wealthiest families were secretly removed from earth by military escorts and transported to the new INS space colony – Haven. The first space colony was build to house 700 INS members. As expected, those who were not selected, in a jealous rage, leaked the information to the masses initiating an uprising against UnitedTech; countless lawsuits were brought forth, and the destruction of UnitedTech extraction facilities soon followed, leading to civil wars around the world.
UnitedTech secedes publicly connections to the Idealist Network and folds. The Idealist Network takes control of UnitedTech’s resource extraction facilities and as planed deployed the Autonomous Combat Tactic Unit (AC1). The combat robots were designed to be faster, more lethal than human soldiers, and intended to police and control and intervene warfare. Within days the opposition was conquered.
IN fires millions of human workers and introduces Ilbot – an intelligent labor robot designed to substitute human laborers on earth.
The Network completes its first city, Vida, on the moon and houses the Idealist Network Political (INP) leaders, and establishes itself as a global plutocratic government with total domination of earth’s resources. Population on Vida is 5 thousand humans, 500 thousand artificially intelligent lives.
Dr. Louis Kordova, a young INSE Engineer, invented a new technology – Quantumlight Portal Machines (QPM) – which allowed humans to travel over great distance in light years. This new technology made it easier for INP to expand and build new INS colonies.
By 2621 IN build 11 QPM Stations, each sustaining 5000 INS members, extending a network as far as the planet Mars.
Terraformation of the planet Mars commenced with very poor results.
Time proved IN’s efforts worthless. The INS colonies found themselves witnessing earth’s critical problems, the planet no longer sustain human habitation; the barrier in reaching equilibrium was a result of the large heat capacity of the oceans, and increased intensity of extreme weather events, and change in amount of pattern of precipitation affected agricultural yields, trade routes, glacier retreats, species extinctions, and increases in the ranges of disease vectors, and even the INS colonies were vastly worsening in virtual poverty. Indeed the end of earth and the extinction of humanity seemed inevitable and imminent.
In their rushed effort to continue the continuity of the human species the network used QPM station 11 to jump start a fleet of AI scouting ships, seven Reconnoiter vessels were build, each equipped with top of the line human technology. The INP leaders decided to use old age cryogenic techniques and freeze human embryos instead. These embryos, the last hope for mankind, the new humans of the future, will not grow inside a human body instead are incubated in a machine – A.H.I.R.M. the first Artificial. Human. Intelligent. Robot. Motherboard – a super computer with human likeness, nicknamed Mother, and programmed to thaw the embryos and start their hearts once a habitable planet is found.
Billions and billions of miles away from earth space, Reconnoiter vessel 3, detects an ideal planet able to sustain human life. Operation Utopia is initiated – Mother (A.H.I.R.M.) orders AI pathfinders to gather specimens of the fauna and flora, and begins to study and categorize the planets resources and inhabitants, and executed the deconstruction of Reconnoiter vessel 3 to start the process of transforming the massive ship into INS Station 12.
Operation Heart is initiated: the life sustaining cryogenic robots are activated, and the revitalization of its precious cargo begins. 250 human embryos were revitalized.

http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y263/GissyR/CryopreservationAdult-2.jpg The First Generation: After 25 years of renewal, the process of revitalization, the first ‘New Human’ awakens. His name was Ulysses Smith (AKA Governor Smith). Following the instructions left by Vida’s INP leaders, Smith orders the awakening of the men and women who will form the House of Assembly. Smith is elected Governor of INS Station 12 and becomes Admiral of Fleet, with the guidance of the House of Assembly Smith organizes Station 12. John Whites becomes Admiral of the Idealist Network Military (INM) branch. Emily Kordovan becomes Admiral of the Idealist Network Science and Engineering (INSE) branch.
The Second Generation: Ambassador Schreiber established contact with the Roliati Empire, he becomes the first human to walk on Utopia. The Utopian Treaty is created, INS is given the cluster of islands known as the Offsprings Peninsulas to build the first human city (Genesis). In exchange for the Empire’s generosity IN provides medicine and vaccines for a number of illnesses, and introduces a new robot created in the image of the Hominidaes, the Empire’s superior species. Hominibot is highly praised and accepted. Roliatis believe that, just as every element of the universe has a purpose, every Utopian must be enlightened through Roliati doctrines in order for them to find their true place in society; Hominibot embraces the Roliati’s religion and becomes the first robot citizen of the Empire. It gains independence from the network and after 50.000 units were created INP orders the end of its production.

THE IDEALIST NETWORK
The Idealist Network Society (INS) is divided into three prominent branches:
With a lower mass than that of any previous Idealist Network Space Station, the INSS 12 can be seen from the Utopia with the naked eye. The station has a unique environment for research and the testing of the spacecraft systems that are required for missions to Utopia and Luna1. The INSS 12 is operated by Reconnoiter 3 survivors, and has been continuously staffed since 3899, meaning the INSS 12 planned has maintained an uninterrupted human presence in space for the past 75 years. The INSS 12 has a continuous population increase of 250 humans per 25 years rate. Maximum populace is 2000 humans.
Restricted Area: cryopreservation facilities, assistant hatching bots, AHIRMS supercomputer. (no humans are allowed in this area)
INM – Departments; including military equipment, home station of AC1, and numerous docks and training facilities.
INSE – Robotics Labs
INSE – Science & Medical Labs
INSE – Engineering Labs (includes two docks)
INSE – Officers Living Facilities
INSE – Commanding Offices and Living Facilities
INM – Commanding Offices and Living Facilities
Entertainment & Leisure Facilities
INP – Government Offices: First House, House of Assembly, Government Luxury Apartments, Luxury Parks and Leisure Facilities.

The Political Branch (INP): INP are the leaders of the human colonies; there to ensure that the INS commands are properly carried out, and place INS interest above all else. They believe there are other ships roaming in space, perhaps already established in other planets. Their goal is to collect the resources humans need to survive at all cost, to establish a permanent colony on Utopia, to become the dominant race of Utopia, and continue to send probes into space in search of other survivors from earth. Current leader is Governor Smith.

The Science and Engineering Departments (INSE): INSE is the combined power of two separate departments – Science and Engineering – equipped with the finest technology from earth. They build, maintain, and control IN technology, e.g. the Travel Portal Machines (QPM), Artificial Intelligent Life (AI), military equipment, human DNA development, and research and testing. Head of INSE is Admiral Kordovan.

Idealist Network Military branch (INM): Home of the Autonomous Combat Tactic Unit (AC1) -The finest robotic military force mankind ever spawn, there to escort, protect, and surveillance the Idealist Network Society (INS). If anything should happen to any ranking member of the political branch, or the visual goal of the network isn’t followed, they will step forward and take control of all IN operations (AC1 is control by A.H.I.R.M (Mother)). Head of INM is Admiral Whites.

The Doctor of Engineer is responsible for the assessment needs of the INS Departments e.g., machine design, machine research, and machine development, production, testing, and maintenance; also responsible for the design and construction and also the destruction of offensive, defensive and logistical structures for warfare. These include INS space stations, the QPM’s, the City of Genesis, robotics, land and aerial vehicles, and weapons.
The field is a diverse one, covering areas from biotechnology, and nanotechnology to the manipulation of organic materials to reach the demands of food production. Biotechnology combines disciplines like genetics, molecular biology, biochemistry, embryology, and cell biology, which are in turn linked to practical disciplines like chemical engineering, information technology, and robotics. Nanotechnology is used to produce a wide variety of useful chemicals such as pharmaceuticals, useful polymers, and create many new materials and devices with wide-ranging applications, such as in medicine, electronics, cosmetics and energy production.
The Medic specializes in the basic sciences such as anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, pharmacology, pathology, various areas of clinical medicine such as internal medicine, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, psychiatry and surgery. Also obtains extensive knowledge in biomedical engineering, which consists of research and development, covering an array of fields: bioinformatics, medical imaging, image processing, physiological signal processing, biomechanics, biomaterials and bioengineering, systems analysis, 3-D modeling, etc.
The field is a combination of an ecologist and environmental engineer. Primarily conducts hazardous- waste management studies, advice on treatment and containment, and develop regulations to prevent mishaps. Specializing in the application of science and engineering principles to improve the environment (air, water, and land resources), and in the fields of animal ecology, and plant ecology, as well as examines patterns such as distinction in species richness, equitability, productivity, and food web structure; also examines processes such as predator-prey population dynamics, succession, and community assembly.
Their tasks involve combat and non-combat operations, including direct hostile engagements and support operations. INS pilots undergo specialized training; often with weapons in aerial warfare and dogfighting (close range aerial combat). Pilots must be in excellent health in order to handle the strange bodily effects caused by aerial warfare. Although a strong heart and stamina are required, fighter pilots also require having strong muscle tissue along the extremities and abdomen. A pilot will flex his legs and torso in order to keep the blood from draining out of the head. This is known as the "grunt." Excellent vision is mandatory for the best pilot.
Someone who has the most status and influence over society and internal relations. His power is maintained by hereditary elite, from a caste, class, family (dynasty or even some individuals). They work to control the executive, legislative and judicial aspects of government, the armed forces, and most of the natural resources. They establish private corporations and through their proportional wealth exert strong influence on governments. (e.g. Governor Smith) The House of Assembly is composed of Aristocrats.

An egg-shape case used for renewing the body through stemcell and nanotech therapeutic treatment; the pod acts as a repair system for the body, replenishing specialized cells, such as blood, skin, intestinal tissues, organs, muscle, bone, etc.
Thin Mylar-Nanofiber coated jumpsuit, lined with synthetic thermal insulation. Between the insulation and the reflective coating is a layer of puncture resistant SPECTRA fiber mesh, interwoven with a thin blue gelatin substance that both loosened the SPECTRA fiber to a wearable level of stiffness and hardened on any major kinetic impact. The legs, wrist, and neck openings are lined with special seals, for boots, gloves, and helmets. Across the back of the uniform is a thin strip of metal that made a V shape downs from the neck, all the way to the seal connecting both halves of the suit, shaped to latch into a full vacuum usage suit. The landsuit is generic and all INS personnel wear one. The color of the landsuit dictates the wearer’s profession: black-engineer, yellow-chemical scientist, blue-medical officer, brown-holistic environmentalist, green-pilot, and white-aristocrat. Two color suits indicate two professions.
A grey, oval, small and flat piece of technology with a multitude of functions: it contains your personal data; from medical records to finances, and can be use as a verbal communicator with the ear-peace attachment. The PDA can access Mother’s database at any time, and the multitouch-touchpad feature is used to enter data and reports. It can be attach to your land-uniforms, to any computer terminal to download and upload information as well as make transactions and purchases. Computer terminals are everywhere including, labs, vehicles and your living-quarters.
A small ear-peace use for communication.
Every AC2 Officer is equipped with an internal ID-chip, primarily inserted in the left hand. The ID-chip is your locator and grants you access to restricted areas, INSE technology, INM equipment, the use of special labs, and robotics. The ID-chip is also a special key that activates the equipment you use, like your PDA, your weapons, vehicles etc. The ID-chip ensures that the equipment you activate can only be control by you.
All weapons can be mounted on vehicles, attached to AC1 robots, or hand-carried by AC2 personnel. They can also be modified at your discretion as long as they maintain their basic design. (Vehicles are assigned by GM)
Broadly defined, directed-energy weapons can be categorized according to the type of energy used (sound, radio, light, particles, plasma, etc) and the intended effects on the target (physical damage, interference with senses and guidance, disorientation, disabling machinery, incapacitating people/robots, etc).
Mechanical device designed to project a long controllable stream of ignited flammable liquid or energy.
A biological weapon may be intended to kill, incapacitate, or seriously impede on an individual as well as entire cities or places (or livestock) by causing disease and infection, through the use of pathogens (bacteria, viruses, or other disease-causing agents).

THE STORY

There was an extraordinary energetic atmosphere on the INSS 12 and at the same time an unusual hint of tension. The natural emotions best described as the agitation and disturbance an expecting parent feels on the unexpected birth date of a first born. It was the night before the biggest festivity aboard INSS 12, the quarterly Holiday Birthday when every INS citizen celebrates the day they are born, and welcome the next generation joining society.

The flashing INS logo on your PDA announced an incoming message. The friendly face of a young dark-skin man spoke solemnly:

“We extend to you a cordial invitation to attend the seventy-fifth anniversary Idealist Network Society Celebration. The Celebration is sponsored by House of Assembly, Kordovan Corporation, INSE Genesis Project, and the Brown Corporation. The Conference will meet March 1, 3949, at the Smith Conference Center on the INP Facilities in Deck-19. This quarterly-year, the Program Committee, chaired by President Stephanie Brown, has created a rich program covering a considerable range of INS life and works and including presentations on important projects in INSE studies, such as the Alpha Terra Facility, and the Genesis Project. Admiral Emily Kordovan will kick off the conference with a plenary lecture at 0900 hours. Mother will teach us about “The Making of the 2904 Idealist Network Space Station 12,” a culmination of many years of work on the Reconnoiter Spaceship transformation and its relationships with the Utopian Project. Governor Smith will begin his presidency with an address on “INS Generation 3.” Followed by a special performance by Sammy Quin & the Symphony Bots, featuring Al Singer, and the anti-conference will commence with its usual gusto. In sum, then, the 3949 Birthday Holiday will occasion plenty of celebration and plenty of reflection on the fellowship of the Idealist Network Society, now a 3rd quarter century old.

On behalf of Governor Smith and the House of Assembly we want to wish you a Merry Birthday!”

Her voice is melodiously soothing and has been said to cause the effects of spiritual joy when listened too. Her very presence is considered a blessing and the ultimate honor. Although she looks, walks and talks like a human, she still possess unlike-human characteristics – her face is never without a smile, her countenance does not express anger or emotions, although she can express these emotions in her voice and body language.

Peers Opinion: Mother is the superior being in which all humans seek guidance, comfort, security, and through her share a symbiotic connection with their technology. Because Mother is a mega computer that controls all functions of INSS and Robots, she is consider to be everywhere, like a god, therefore all life and creation comes from her.

Weight: 210lb
Generation: 1st
Department: INP/INM/INSE
Rank: Admiral of Fleet
Profession: Aristocrat

Persona/behavior/trait: Smith has the charisma and the wining smile of a politician. He is of large frame, muscular, and has a distinguished conservative style about him. He spends his time amongst the elites, in the company of Mother, and seems he is never alone or without a parade of delegates.

Peers Opinion: Governor Smith is a star, his image is everywhere. He is highly admired for the work he’s accomplished. No one else can do the job. His word is the law and his vision is our future.

Log Entry: None Entry.

Name: Emily Kordovan
Handle: Admiral Kordovan
Gender: F
Age: 75
Skin color: Fair-White
Hair color: Jet-black
Eye color: Indigo
Height: 5’8”
Weight: 150lb
Generation: 1st
Department: INP/INSE
Rank: Admiral
Profession: Aristocrat/Engineer

Persona/behavior/trait: Emily is a striking woman. Her silky hair parted in the middle, shoulder length, added the adverted seduction of a young woman. But in her eyes were stamp the knowledge of her years. Her demeanor is the one of a worldly aristocrat driven by wealth and power. She was born to lead and channels her ambitions with an iron fist.

Peers Opinion: She is an inventor; a workaholic; civilized for personal gain and driven by wealth and success. Cultivated to succeed and if she gets her own way possibly become the next Governor of Station 12.

Log Entry: It seems that time is finally on my side. I won the support of The House of Assembly and the Genesis project is a go. Soon I’ll have the data I need to reopen the Alpha Terra Facility. The next generations completed the Heart Project, and the first of Batch AC2 operatives successfully completed the special training. I can only hope they will be as resourceful and enduring in live operations as they were in the assimilation trainings. Otherwise I will have to redesign the project.

Tomorrow will be a grand day for us all, I can’t think of anyone who isn’t looking forward to the quarterly Holiday. Birthday! It will be a moral boost to see young souls among us again. The future of our society, so much of our future depends on them. I can picture them already, eager to work and learn, determined and driven by the desired to survive. It is the human instinct to survive.

Time passes to quick. I can’t believe 75-years have past. I wonder if they’ll consider me old. I will challenge one to a hand of light-ball to prove to my self I still have what it takes although, aneroid-swimming keeps me in shape, I’m fit and in top health. At 75 my youth is still intact and according to the self-renewing pod’s aging-chart my physical appearance is that of a 40-year-old earth female. Honestly I can’t imagine what technique woman on earth used to keep younger and living longer. I can’t imagine living on earth period. Life appeared simple then, primitive, and yet so much was lost, so much life and creation, so much beauty.

Utopia is equally alien to me although, I can relate and understand the attraction to living on land, I often find my self pausing and observing the planet. But Utopia is a small planet, smaller than earth, it will become overpopulated, and restrictive compared to outer space. Not the place I want to call home. I prefer the life in space; there are no Utopians in space. Above all there is profit in space mining and manufacturing Kordovan technology is open-ended. It is my inheritance and my duty to continue the work my predecessors started. I have enough contracts and investments to last millenniums. I can only hope that my embryos will continue the work, perhaps I’ll be alive then if our therapeutic cloning technology progressively evolves.

Tomorrow will be a busy day, more than usual, conferencing with Captain Ramsey will absorb most of the AM hours. Admiral Whites refused my request to have Barry lead the AC2 team on the Genesis project, his excused being that the Commodore is needed in the L1 Project – the teraforming project I refused to fund, and since I refused to fund the project I am for the moment kept in the dark. Not that it’s any of my business! I will see Barry tomorrow during the celebration if not sooner.
To be added soon.
To be added soon.

Name: William Ramsey
Handle: Captain Ramsey
Gender: M
Age: 50
Skin color: Olive-Moderate Brown
Hair color: Dark Brown
Eye color: Dark
Height: 6’0”
Weight: 190lb
Generation: 2nd
Department: INM
Rank: Captain
Profession: Pilot/Chemical Scientist

Persona/behavior/trait: Ramsey keeps to himself and only mingles with the unit when on duty. He’s earned the respect of those under him through his unbending belief in the vision of INS. His team is considered one of the best INM units and holds the record for the most successful missions on Utopia. Personally, Ramsey lacks what most humans have, the ability to feel emotion. He considers the exposure of emotions a weakness. He is a tough no BS superior with a competitive attitude, you may say even cocky. He aims to win and expects nothing less from his unit.

Peers Opinion: Ramsey is a hardcore scientist who excelled as an INM pilot with outstanding tactical skills. His ambition and quick rise to the top has made him a favorite of Admiral Whites. He was one of the first human team to visit Utopia, and knows more about the species and the factions of Utopia better than anyone else of his generation. There were rumors that he and Admiral Kordovan had an affair but those rumors quickly died after the Commodore and the Admiral became engaged.

Log Entry: I’ve come to despise that woman. To think I have to sit and take orders from her makes me noxious. Why Admiral Whites assigned the Genesis project to me when I specifically requested the Luna 1 project makes me more noxious. I can only assume he has a tactical reason, but I can’t grasp my head around it yet.

Kordovan pushed forward the Genesis project but I bet her real interest is the Alpha Terra Facility, and I bet a year’s salary John doesn’t want her to reopen the facility. Why do I smell a sabotage mission coming up?

I best go to the meeting and listen, and keep opinions to my self; no doubt she’ll be as happy to see me as I’ll be to see her.

Profession: MD-Psychiatrist (Counselor)

Persona/behavior/trait: Rayita is seen as an oddball, a title credited more by her appearance than her actions. She has a rather large frame and long neck, keeps her hair pushed back and in a ponytail, and when she concentrates on hearing somebody slightly tilts her head and stairs unblinking. She looks unusually older than everyone else because she does not use the self-renewal-pods often. It is no secret that she finds objectionable the excessive use of INS technology.

Peers Opinion: Rayita can be defined in one word –Individualist. She is the person with the devotion to change INS laws in ways that places her outside the majority.

Log Entry: ‘It is said that our consciousness is like the small tip of an iceberg. What one sees is not all there is – the greater substance lies beneath the surface. It is to that deeper, more massive consciousness that we wish to establish a meaningful and ongoing link.’ I don’t recall where I read the passage but it remained in my head and provoked serious thoughts in the last few days.

In my attempt to calm the weary thoughts, I’ve come to the conclusion that in my lifetime the iceberg is in fact our technology. The analysis makes me antsy. I feel that in our doctrine for the last twenty-five years we have been systematically enthused to rely on technology in order to survive. The conditioning is unnatural to the original make-up of our existence, and yet technology defines the very core of our evolution, we cannot survive without technology.

A.H.I.R.M. has evolved from a technological wonder to a superior being, a conduit of wisdom, the fountain of human life, our parent, even godlike…we have forgotten to see her…it…by its origin – an artificial intelligent supercomputer, a piece of technology created by us. The realization of A.H.I.R.M. shocked me. At first it puzzled me and I questioned the end result.

What have we become and where are we headed? The answer is a complex matrix of ideas and emotions, many of which stressed me. The answers to the questions only conjure up more questions to which I have no answers. I am poised in the center of a crossroad.

INS is a plutocratic government, a society that is ruled by its wealthiest members. As such it seems we as a society have fail unless an equal government is established, one that will institute my most basic human right, the freedom to procreate through the natural process of nativity. I refuse to give-up my right to bring forth life. Otherwise, the very purpose that connects me to humanity or any natural life is lost forever.

Can I accept the natural changes or am I confined to the vision of INS alone, drifting further into an alien race far from the original human composition, in deed becoming less then the earthlike human society that we once was.

I’ve come to realize that I am not the pioneer INS citizen coached to be. Instead I see my self a slave of the pretense of evolution, of the dream to a superior human, and confused to think that I share a spiritual communion with technology. Where do I go from here? Where can I go if I could? …Utopia?

The options are present although, limited and practically unreachable at this time, I hope the next generation posses the viable gumption to make the changes for their own future.

Name: Stephanie Brown
Handle: Steph
Gender: F
Age: 50
Skin color: Light-Pale
Hair color: Dirty-Blonde
Eye color: Sapphire
Height: 5’ 4”
Weight: 125lb
Generation: 2nd
Department: INSE
Rank: Lt. Commander
Profession: Holistic-Environmentalist

Persona/behavior/trait: Steph is an average looking INS citizen, she keeps her hair cut short and it compliments her features. She has surprising upper body strength for someone of small frame. She has a passive voice and is always ready to express opinions and tends to hold to them stubbornly. A true character dedicated to the vocation of environmental studies on Utopia and to the vision of INSE, but suffers from the stress that comes with her new rank.

Peers Opinion: Stephanie Morgan is presentable. She works well with people, and knows her craft. Her persona comes across friendly. Her one fault is dismissing other people’s views when it comes to the environment of Utopia, which although can be her strength often is seen as dogmatic.

Log Entry: Utopia. Strange how much emotion the word conjures up. It has been 12 years since I set foot on its soils, and in a couple of hours I will be knee-deep in unconsolidated rock erosions and fungi. It’s a shame that we’ve been forced to wait this long to continue our research of the environment. Those damn Aristocrats and their political agendas will be the death of us all; at least I know Emily has a clear vision. We have sympathy for Utopia. And I’ll be dammed if I allow the future generations to rip the life from its very soul, disregard its habitats by taking everything from it with no thought other than ourselves.

Despite my pessimism, I am looking forward to the future. Utopia is the Earth I never saw and to experience life created without any artificial intervention... It's an unusual dream, I know - and probably a not very well liked one by my generation. But if I can never experience the practice myself, then the future generations should.

The biodiversity of this planet is immense and according to Mother’s knowledge and her records of Earth’s fauna and flora Utopia is our Eden. I'm also intrigued as to the life-forms that are already present - intrigued and a little concerned, I admit: will they be as hostile as our ancestors once were to other races and species, or will it be us who creates the same hostility our history has recorded?

I guess all these questions will be answered in time, as well as those more... material. The difficulties with the terrain and the carnivorous species... the sustainable use of resources... the management and control of our expanding civilization... waste... and everything else that we will encounter in the future.

Mother speaks of Utopia as though it were nothing more than an hostile environment that needs to be tamed, but in truth it is as real as I am... as alive as we are... and we can kill it like our ancestors killed Earth. My fears are not for us upon this new home but for our salvation. And my only hope is that I can protect and preserve what I can of this beautiful land before we repeat our past mistakes. We must establish green politics and learn to think in a new way.

Name: Jonathan McCarthy
Handle: Blackjack
Gender: Male
Age: 25
Skin color: Fair-White
Hair color: Jet black
Eye color: Brown-Amber
Height: 5'10”
Weight: 152 lbs
Generation: 3rd
Department: INM
Rank: Officer
Profession: Pilot

Persona/behavior/trait: Although he is an idealist who pushes himself to the limits to achieve any goal he sets his mind to, he is also an introverted person. He'll usually size up unfamiliar people before talking to them or responding to a question; he'll look at their physical traits and characteristics (like posture, facial expression and just plain old gut feeling) to make an informed decision. Once he gets more comfortable with the person he'll talk more freely to them, expressing his thoughts or anything really. When faced with a fast paced combat situation his highly attuned reflexes take over which even surprise him at times.

Peers Opinion: Some people might not pay as much attention to him as others, but most of the people that get to know him say he's likeable. They respect him and like to hang out with him but they say he works too hard.

Log Entry: Argh, I never know what to say in these things... Anyway, I've just come back from a training run and I've noticed something. Flying is my only passion; without it I'm not, me. It's what makes me, what defines me. Everything I've done so far has been for the advancement of my flying, and for humanity of course, can't forget that.

Even when I'm not up in the air all I can think about is flying. It's buried deep into my very core, and some of the other pilots say I should loosen up a bit, and maybe I should...

Actually, now that I think about it, I haven't even opened up to many people, other than my squadron. But does it all matter, does anything I've done so far matter? Is there any point in it at all? And again the same answer comes to mind, for the advancement of humanity.

Why is that the only thing I can think of though? Enough about that, let's talk about something else... Oh! for some reason the other guy's have taken to using Blackjack as my callsign, probably because it's the only other thing I do when I'm not flying. It really isn't as bad as some of the others I've heard though, so that's a good thing.

Funny how that's all I can think of to say right now, so goodbye, Blackjack out.

Name: Kristina Harper
Handle: "Critter"
Gender: Female
Age: 25
Skin color: Medium
Hair color: Copper-Blonde
Eye color: Blue-Sapphire
Height: 5'9''
Weight: 145
Generation: 3rd
Department: INSE
Rank: Officer
Profession: Holistic Environmentalist

Persona/behavior/trait: Kristina values her work above all else, save the good of humanity. She always considers problems, even personal ones in an objective manner as if it were a test or assignment to be completed. She has little interest in personal relationships, and seems to spend much of her free time in study. She is more comfortable around robots than human beings, not because she dislikes people in general, but because she has difficulty relating to them as one of them. However she also seems perfectly at home when working with the flora and fauna she is studying.

Peers Opinion: Critter is an unusual woman, though one not to be underestimated. She takes her work very seriously and if there is something in her field you want done, she is the one to go to. However her strict objective view of everything usually deters anyone from approaching her unless it has something to do with her work. She also takes professional criticism very personally, and will often react by burying herself in her work - even more than usual - to make sure that the mistake isn't repeated.

Log Entry: The quarterly Holiday Birthday is coming soon. I look forward to seeing Mother again, however the promised festivities offer little interest to me. In fact I quite look forward to the Holiday being over so that I may return to my normal work. It seems that these Holidays are of little use, but I understand that many not in my own line of work, for example those who have more physical assignments, need to rest now and again. I am by no means complaining. In fact, my own work has gotten a bit more... how does the phrase go? A bit more hands on of late, one might say.

I have yet to learn what my own part in the Holiday might be, if there is any aside from the normal audience participation. I hope not. Such things try my patience and are little but a distraction from work. Again, not to say I am complaining. Perhaps it is like the case of the Olea europaea, where it is through being cut off of the main and being reattatched to another that both the branch and tree in question produce more. I am speaking of course of the olive three and the process of grafting. Perhaps we humans are like they, being more productive after being temporarily cut off from our normal environment. In any case, I will accept whatever role I am assigned, for the good of the whole.

Kristina Harper, logging out.

Name: Ashley Rayberry

Skin color: Light
Hair color: Jet-black
Eye color: Green Hazel
Height: 5’ 7’’
Weight: 138lb.
Generation: 3rd
Department: INSE
Rank: Officer
Profession: Engineer

Persona/behavior/trait: Ashley has always done what she is told and been really good at it, though she sometimes has to be put back on track since she has been known to day dream and drift off topic. She loves to be around people but when a problem arises she much prefers to be alone and work it out on her own, other’s ideas and opinions seem to just get in the way. She would much prefers to go and talk to other humans in a social manner but as soon as it is time for her to work (when she is working) she much rather prefers to be alone and on her own. Her slightly impulsive personality sometimes can get her in trouble but she disregards that as normal.

Peers Opinion: Ash is rather good at what she does, when she does it. The only problem being several times she just doesn’t seem to get what she needs to done. Her mind runs wild and her ideas don’t always get acted on when needed, and do when they don’t need to. Her impulsive nature seems slightly amiss at times but she can be a good person to have on a job if she has supervision to keep her on track.

Log Entry: The holiday is so near, which means work is off for a couple of days. I get to sit here and relax, well sort of. I’m still not sure if they want me to do anything special for the ceremony or just go watch it like normal. I guess it doesn’t really matter they will get to me when they need me huh? It just seems strange that the ceremony is so close and I am still worrying about work.

I can’t wait for the ceremony, seeing all the people, and mother. It will be a great day. Then just like always it will end too soon and we will all be at work again. It’s not like I don’t like my job, I enjoy it to the fullest extent it’s just – oh I’m not even sure really. I get distracted easy and I know it’s not a good thing, but I can’t really help it now can I?

Now, I feel like I started rambling in my log, that’s never a good thing now is it? Rhetorical questions seem to be something I enjoy more and more each day. Ah I guess it’s just something to do besides work. Though that doesn’t really help the whole does it? Oh no another rhetorical. I don’t really have anything else to ramble about so I guess that means I’m done and going to leave.

THE RULES
(The RP will open an IC thread when 3-PC applications are accepted and will close OOC recruitment with 9-PC applications.)

Follow RPA rules.
Never roleplay for another character without permission.
No OOC posting in the IC page, no exceptions, OOC posts go in the OOC page (here).
Do not use OOC information that your character wouldn’t immediately know otherwise for the benefit of your character.
No one liner/chat posting allowed. Detailed posts are encouraged. Don't just write simple one or two-line bits of action. The standard posting style is third-person past tense. (e.g. Novel-style posting). And two paragraphs per post minimum.
Follow the storyline. Read every post.
If you are going AWAL say so. There is nothing worst than to be waiting for someone to respond in order to continue a plot and they have no intentions to stay and continue. Again, if you are going AWAL say so.
If you don’t follow the rules, you will be removed from the roleplay.
You are allowed to introduce new equipment, weapons, armor, and fauna and flora during your assignments (quests), but they must meet the following criteria:

Name it and describe it.
Catalog its origin as Utopian or INS.
Explain what it was designed for and what effect it will have.
Must be approved by GM before posting.

Respect one another OOC and don’t take IC actions/events personal.
I’ve taken the time to create this RP world for us to enjoy, honor my decisions and help me enhance our experience.
People will come and go, but if you stay for the long run lead by example and welcome new members by answering questions and upholding the rules.
RPA’s mailbox system will be use to communicate privately IC and OOC. I encourage the passing of notes amongst your selves, and please feel free to contact me with any questions and ideas you may have.
The GM reserves the right to edit, modify, add, and remove rules as GM encounters problems and unexpected situations to keep the RP organized and effective.
Have fun.

Skin color: light
Hair color: light-brown
Eye color: copper
Height: 6'1"
Weight: 173
Generation: 3rd

Rank: Officer
Profession: Medic
Persona/behavior/trait: A very clean cut man, Markus keeps his hair tidy and clean, he has no facial hair and he practices good hygiene to a fault. Some might even call him a Germaphobe but others would say it's just his profession taking it's toll. With a cool exterior, and an even cooler interior, Mark is a bit of a cold fish. He loves his work and is very calculated in everything he does. Given a stressful situation, Mark rises to the occasion, pressure pushes him to work harder.
Peers Opinion: A rather private man, Mark tends to brush people off with casual banter unless he sees direct reason for socialization. Sometimes considered a snob, he keeps to himself. A reasonably attractive man, he is easy on the eyes but nothing extraordinary. He is intelligent and polite, nothing more.

Name: Fara Fleming
Handle: Fate
Gender: F
Age: 25
Skin color: Medium
Hair color: Copper-red
Eye color: Green-hazel
Height: 5’6”
Weight: 139lbs
Generation: 3rd
Department: TBA
Rank: Officer
Profession: Chemical Scientist
Areas of Specialty: Biotechnology
Fields of Expertise: Molecular cell biology, immunology, virology, genetic engineering, recombinant DNA and artificial protein synthesis.

Persona/behavior/trait: Although it is essential for her to be decisive and methodical while working in a laboratory setting, it is her deep creativity and flashes of unique inspiration that first brought recognition to her work. Fara views complex molecules and amino acids, the building blocks of proteins, in an almost artistic light. She is able to easily visualize the unique three dimensional structures of molecules, and is able to modify and engineer them to suit a variety of needs. She has engineered strains of viruses to target and kill specific harmful bacteria, and has genetically altered bacteria to produce mass quantities of beneficial compounds used in state-of-the-art medications. Through biotechnology, she has created a hybrid of the aloe plant to automatically manufacture a foam-like byproduct used to treat victims of severe burns. Fara prefers to listen to music while working. When not in a laboratory setting, she enjoys yoga and computerized painting.

Peers Opinion: Others generally view her as punctual, dependable, and highly intelligent. While not overly outgoing, she is courteous and gets along well with most of her peers. However rumors have circulated regarding some of her “classified” research projects. Some of her peers have theorized that Fara has been instrumental in developing unimaginably deadly strains of viruses and other organisms that could be used as lethal instruments of biological warfare. While others give no or little credence to these unproven (although not unfounded) rumors.

Log Entry: With this crazy schedule, I’ll barely have enough time to get cleaned up and dressed for the Celebration’s opening festivities. Of course I can’t go in what I’ve been wearing to the lab these days. I’d probably get politely escorted out. And my hair smells mildly of some sort of bizarre chemical adjuvant. I doubt anyone would mistake it for perfume. Mother help me, I have so much to do. In fact, I’m scheduled to check the third batch of RNA hybridization probes right smack dab in the middle of Governor Smith’s address. Somehow I’ve got to figure out a way to change that. His speeches always astound me. He’s such an amazing man with such keen insight. I even memorized portions of his last several speeches…

[The log entry pauses several seconds while Fara initiates a program to begin genotyping a sample of mammalian liver cells.]

…I’m so excited to learn what new might be announced regarding the Utopian Project. It’s so interesting to hear about the Utopian Factions. Sometimes I wish that my security clearance was a bit higher so that I don’t feel like I’m the last person to find out what’s been going on.

[The sounds of a massive whirling centrifuge can now be heard in the background.]

I’ve got to focus so I can get done here. Sure, I understand that it’s so crucial for us to enhance our technology, so that we can advance into superior human beings. The Mother, in her wisdom, has taught us the importance of this. Yet sometimes I feel as though I spend all my time doing mundane research in this lab. I feel like I’m starting to merge with the facility, as though I’m slowly becoming just another piece of lab equipment. I know that it’s probably wrong of me to think this way. Still, it will be nice to get out of here for a change.

I am leaving RPA. I know this is sudden, and I don't intend to leave right away and leave any loose ends. I want to hand over my rps and my group to others first and say goodbyes, but I have made my decision.
