So I think there may be a chance you are familiar with one of my roleplays, Cat and Mouse and if not that's perfectly okay. This is the story I based the roleplay off of and have recently had the urge to begin writing it again so please do read it and let me know what you think!

One

The rumors of the newcomer had flown quickly in the small town of Leeks, Tennessee. The bartender had already grown tired of hearing about the "mystery man," from his many female customers. Perhaps worse than these patrons were his "more flamboyant male customers," as he and his wife would call the sect of homosexual men in town. Even his wife couldn't keep away from the gossip and had spent hours gushing over this newcomer the previous night.

Most were well aware of the fact that the fuss over the man would have been seen as ridiculous anywhere else, however Leeks consisted of no more than two hundred fifty six people and located in one of the most remote regions of the state. The town was located approximately fifty miles to the west of Nashville, surrounded by forest to the west as well as the southern edge of town. Various plantations could be found to the east and a single two-lane road led to the interstate in the north. The town was commonly referred to as a dead end by the inhabitants of Leeks. It was common knowledge that most who grew up in the town never left.

The clock on the wall chimed as the clock struck midnight and he frowned as surveyed the room before him. The Inn - he never had been creative with names - was exactly what it sounded like. The downstairs bar was the local eatery for families and the second floor contained several rooms for which had periodically housed tourists. A rare occasion. He and his wife gad taken up residence in the only suite that possessed a kitchen - the rest consisting of only a bedroom and bathroom.

His eyes narrowed as the door opened to reveal a man entering the bar. He was ready to clear the place out and head to bed yet here was a potential customer. The man took a seat at the bar - he had never seen him and didn't doubt this was the mysterious newcomer he had heard so much about - he was completely silent as the bartender approached him. The man was attractive in the pretty boy sense - or so that was the bartender's opinion at any rate. White-blond hair that fell into his face, cerulean blue eyes and a lean yet muscular body, A scar ran underneath his right eye and he swept his hair over it with one pale hand. The bartender had seen this before - the silent, attractive male - and he has never liked the type.

"What will it be?" The bartender had finally set the glass that he had been washing down and leaned forward onto the counter. The man across from him shrugged and reached into his pocket, withdrawing a cell phone to glance at the time.

"Water will be fine?" He stated quietly a small smirk appearing on his face seeing the look of shock on the bartender's face. Though the year was 2075, many went without the use of electronics such as cell phones and computers. After the depression that had begun in the year 2010 a new government had stepped up. The democracy that America had known for so long had vanished and a monarchy had been established. By the year 2020, the new queen had brought the depression to it's end and offered money to all who turned in their electronics to the government, before making it law. It had been a lifestyle that may had a hard time adapting to but many had given it up.

He never had been good with small talk so he thanked the bartender as a glass was pushed toward his him and he turned his attention to the rest of the bar. He was amazed that so many people were still awake at this hour - on a Sunday no less. Mothers chastising small children could be seen in a group near the door as well as a few women cradling babies or other small children. A group of men were not far off and while there were many others in the room, these two groups held his attention. The individuals of both groups seemed to be in serious debate though the women were often interrupted by their children.

"So what brings you here?" He turned hearing the bartender speak to him once more. "It isn't often we have visitors. Especially those who order water, A failed attempt at a joke he had guessed but nonetheless he chuckled lightly as he responded.

"Business."

"Come out, come out wherever you are."
Green eyes surveyed the room intently for a moment before a pale had opened the cabinet and turned a teacup over. Beneath it lay a small mouse cowering. As the hand reached for it, the creature's ears perked up and before it could scamper away the hand had closed upon it's tail, pulling it up into the air.

The captor revealed herself to be a woman as she brought the creature up to eye level. "Hush now." She demanded as the animal began to frantically emit squeaks of terror. "I thought I could smell a rat and it looks like I was right!" She placed the animal into the palm of her hand and began to stroke it's fut. "There, there," she cooed, "Aren't you simply the cutest little thing?"

She strode out of the kitchen with an almost gleeful expression on her face and s as she reached the door in the living room she glanced down at the creature she held in her hand. It had calmed down quite a bit though it was still trembling and she continued to stroke it's fur until it had completely calmed itself.

"Now we'd better let you go before that mean ol' cat finds his way back inside," She giggled as she tossed the mouse and watched as it passed over her porch, landing in the grass two hundred feet away. She watched carefully for a moment but did not detect any movement in within the grass and allowed a small sigh to escape her lips.
She stepped back and shut the door, but not before a large black and white cat slipped into the house. Clucking her tongue she shook her head as she watched the cat run into the kitchen - presumably for more food. The clock told her that it was well after midnight now and the house was still empty aside from herself and the cat.

From the outside her home appeared to be relatively small built in the style of a cottage complete with balcony and porch. The living room she stood in was expansive with pale blue walls (with the exception of the southern wall which a mirror covered,) and a white carpet. Her mother had always seemed to adore white furniture and as such the sofa and overstuffed armchairs spaced out around the room were white. A single large bay window was located a few feet from the front door though at this moment white drapes covered it. A glass coffee table sat in the middle of the room in front of the sofa and a large television set could be seen in from of a portion of the mirror that stretched across the wall. She took a seat in one of the armchairs next to the mirror and frowned as she brushed a strand of hair out of her face.

She hated sitting all alone in this house - it made her claustrophobic and she was bored - and she debated leaving even though it had been forbidden. She stared at the mirror before her and her frown deepened as she looked at the reflection of the room around her. She had learned long ago that she did not have a reflection and normally this face didn't bother her. After all, she had seen plenty of photos of her face and it wasn't as though she was unattractive. She stood approximately five foot six inches with curly black hair that fell to her waist and dark green eyes. Her skin was a flawless white though a small mole was visible on the bottom of her wrist. Her figure was curvy though she did wish that she was a tad bit taller at times.
