(Fuck)THE STATE OF ELYSIUM(Fuck)
A game by yours truly~

Within the continental country of Denegrad lay the state of wonder, mystery, and treachery. A place of both beguilement and enlightenment. A place of light and darkness. The state is Elysium, where humans live in conjunction with their demonic counterparts and strangely transmogrified humans. This state is known throughout Denegrad as a trading outpost. The biggest one on the entire continent, and as such, the source of most mysteries solved and conundrums created. Culture is rich within this merchant state, and grows with every passing caravan. There is not a place within Elysium one could go without feeling as if you were just in the town not but an hour ago.

However, strange things have been happening.

Vendors suddenly disappear from the trade routes they've been going along for years. The animals are restless and attack without warning, the bears being the biggest problem, since dragons have all but migrated out of the state. And the biggest problem:

Each newborn human since the problems began, has had what is called a "Remnant" located within their body when they're born.

The "Remnants" grants these humans with strength and intelligence beyond their ancestors, and not only that, the ability to perform the arcane arts. The pieces are called "remnants" because the artifacts seem to be pieces, not an entire thing. For instance, one human was reported to have a pupil as a remnant, but not the whole eye.

However, within this medieval fantastical land, a few select humans have been born with an entire "Remnant" on their body. These humans are called the Forsaken. They are shunned away from society much more from their pieced counterparts because the remnant is completely visible instead of being somewhat unnoticeable. One child was born with an entire arm as a remnant, another was born with a remnant that was her entire left leg. Keep in mind, the limbs are still functional, just made of a very pearlescent colored metal-like substance.

Could the remnants be the cause of the unrest within Elysium? Or could the remnants simply be pieces to a whole grand spectrum of problems? The governor of Elysium has been absent from his office for months since the problems, where is he and why has he not shown himself?

And the big question:

Where did the "remnants" come from?

SETTING:

A pit fighting arena where enslaved remnant-adorned humans battle to the death for their masters' earnings. The arena is a bowl of red, dusty sand. Bones scatter the area, long dead fighters no longer under the service of their masters. A cage is over top the pit, closing off any type of escape by the Forsaken, since the cage is inlaid with shield runes. The stands are filled with notorious criminals and even aristocrats, betting on who will win.

THE RACES:

Humans: You know this. Only Humans are born with remnants and only humans have remnants.

Demonise: Demonic counterparts of the humans. Said to be half-demon, half-human. The Demonise are not born with remnants. Use your imagination on these characters, since they're half-demon. However, there will be no wings. The Demonise can also be said to be anthropomorphic, since a wolf demon may have raped a human woman to create a wolf-demon child. Like I said, use your imagination. The Demonise excel at the arcane arts and depending on their heritage, may have a heightened sense of comprehension or amazing vigor.

(Rough draft here. Feel free to join in, since I may change things before starting the IC. You should know how to make a character profile. =P)

Name: Myrrmidon

Age: 23

Gender: Male

Race: Human Forsaken

Appearance: http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g236/Darius234/Dark_knight_by_REAL_FIDUCIOSE.jpg (http://s57.photobucket.com/albums/g236/Darius234/?action=view&current=Dark_knight_by_REAL_FIDUCIOSE.jpg)

Personality:

Myrrmidon is indifferent. He knows not emotion and he knows not feelings. He has been this way since his birth, his father unknown to everyone. Even though his father sees him every day, Myrrmidon knows not even the face of his father. He is cold. He is heartless. He has no sense of right or wrong, nor morals. He was taught none. He may be past learning any at all.

Background:

His life is unexplained.

He was born one day, his mother dying as he was cradled from the womb. He can remember scraps. Screams. Gasps. Yells and shouts by the doctor holding him, then darkness. He awoke at some point. He didn’t know whether it was years or minutes. He felt himself, skin rough, metallic. He felt lower, squishy, spongy, fleshy. That’s all he remembered of himself. He has been like this forever. Tied up. Restrained.

In the dungeon.

He saw light sometimes. A circle. There were people. They shouted at him and threw coins at him. He could remember the soft clinks the coins made on his chest, and the small thud they made when they hit the ground. He remembered the warmth too. There were others there, they kept him warm. He would cut them in half like he would his carrots. They would fall, and warm liquid would drip all over his body.

He liked it.

He enjoyed feeling warm. He couldn’t quite explain. He didn’t want to explain. He was Myrrmidon. A man gave him that name. He didn’t know the man. He didn’t care. That man was the one who tied him up in the dungeon. What did the others call him?

Governor Belisun.

That’s the name. He was big, fat belly. Pig snout like a nose, small eyes. He would feel warmth from this man someday.

Myrrmidon carries two blades, making him an effective dual-wield arena fighter. One blade is sharp and ground to an edge sharp enough to cleave bone, his attacking blade. The other blade is a long, broad sword with the tip hewed off. During one particular battle, Myrrmidon swung down with this blade, and his opponent blocked with sword edge up. The momentum of Myrrmidon's swing caused the tip of his blade to be cleaved off, sending the shrapnel directly into his opponent's forehead.

Remnant Location:

Entire body from the waist up.

Remnant Effect:

Myrrmidon’s remnant acts as an impenetrable fortress of armor. No regular sword can mark it or even the sharpest sword can stab through it. His fighting technique was developed by going through the arena all his life, utilizing his remnant fully. He does not stop to defend himself when a sword comes for his heart. He knows it will never reach it. Since he has yet to face a fellow Forsaken opponent that negates his own remnant, he has had no need to change his battle style.

He cannot remove his remnant in any way, as such applies to all remnants. Some say he’s cursed to never have a normal face.

Name: Deveran
Age: 16-17
Gender: Male

Appearance:
Deveran has an unassuming face despite the hardship of living as a Forsaken, but his black eyes can change from curious and innocent to cold and calculating in an instant. He keeps his dark hair short and out of his eyes. There is a small brand on his chest, an ‘M’ with curved sides, at the top of the sternum [on the chest, the bone that is the middle of your ribs]. He has a slight, yet muscular build due to his struggle to survive. Dons whatever robes he can find (at a five finger discount, of course), typically choosing dark and faded colors so as not to attract attention, and often layering up in simple garb that won’t impair movement. Two constants in his attire, however, are a hooded cloak or covering and scraps of cloth bound around his entire left arm and hand, usually up to the first knuckles. This is to hide his remnant, which is his entire left arm from the arm socket to just a fingers-breadth over the wrist (but most of his palm). From these endpoints the pearlescent gift is no longer entire, but begins to branch out. Above the wrist Deveran’s remnant covers his left hand in a branching pattern mimicking the tendons and veins beneath the skin, reaching up to just above the base of each finger. The vein-like pattern is again visible where the arm meets the shoulder, but reaches out about six to six-and-a-half inches around his torso and up the side of his neck. ((I really hope this makes sense! Saying it any more detail was frustrating to even write, much less read.))

Personality:
Fairly quiet, and has learned to keep to himself. Growing up on the streets of Elysium as a Forsaken has taught him to be cold to the plights of others, but he stills views the world around him with interest—it’s the people he doesn’t care for. Deveran can still manage a smile every now again, most often seen behind a pint at a favorite local tavern. He does not feel sorry for himself.

Background:

He cannot recall ever having a family or parents, though there must have been someone to care for him until he was grown. His first memories are of wandering from grass and heat and brightness into a place with shade, many people, and very many new things. He must have been about four or five when he wandered into Elysium, small and naked, a little boy with the Forsaken’s curse consuming his left arm. He remembered that where ever he would go, the people would move away, run from him. Too thirsty to speak and too hungry to walk anymore, the boy crawled into an alleyway and curled up to try to sleep and maybe die.

He woke to the sound of murmuring voices, but could not or would not move to investigate, or even open his eyes. The refuse of Elysium had found him—a vulnerable Forsaken child. Like all ‘normal’ humans, they hated and feared those with remnants. They crept from the darkness and rags and garbage all around, eyes glaring and full of malice, whispering to one another or perhaps themselves. Kill it, kill it, kill… Their fear of this power kept them back, but only for a while. They approached with crude weapons, clubs, rusted broken daggers, the fear that held them back now channeled into hate that was stronger—but the gleam of silver in the alleyway caught someone else’s eye…

A shady merchant among the lowest ranks of society, this weasel-faced man saw a shimmer of what looked to be precious metal and could not stop himself from investigating. He slunk across the street to get a better look just as the wretched poor were daring to immerge from the shadows. They didn’t like him interfering and some turned their knives and anger toward him. But being a shady merchant often means you make many enemies, and this man had learned to carry at least one blade at all times. He cut down a few of the boldest among them with a neat hand-a-half sword and the rest scampered off at the sight. The weasel grin faded as the man looked down and saw only a child—but no, a Forsaken! Another smile, despite his instinctive apprehension. This would fetch more than any mere lump of silver. He sheathed his blade and wrapped the boy in the slightly bloody rags of the newly dead around him, not for warmth or protection for the child, but to hide his prize from other eyes. He could think of a buyer… yes, that would be perfect. Making the Forsaken more presentable and healthy would get a better price, but he didn’t have time to feed the thing. He needed the gold now, and besides it might be sick and die if he waited. The boy could barely breathe, but despite that and the stench, exhaustion overwhelmed him once again and he fell asleep.

The boy awoke to having his eyes pried open and stared at. The little one could hear voices but could not make the words make sense anymore. White spots danced before his eyes and everything was blurry shapes. The merchant was presenting him before a buyer and haggling a price, holding the Forsaken by the base of its head and letting the aristocrat inspect it for defects.

Darkness again…

A blur of memories—a searing pain as he was branded after sale, sour-tasting water forced down his throat, waking again in a dank darkness that was his new home, finding he was bound to the wall by chains from cold metal wrist cuffs and a heavy collar… But it was alright because there was food. Not enough to stay full, but there was food, and regularly. Once a man that smelled of spices came down and spoke with him, asked the boy questions: what was his name, where did he come from? The little one only stared with huge dark eyes, entranced by the colors and shimmery lining of the man’s rich attire. He understood the questions, but did not know the answers so the rich man left, shaking his head and fearing he’d been sold a useless idiot. It wasn’t until he’d pulled the chains out of the wall that anyone besides the occasional feeder thought of him again.

He learned to call the rich man master. He learned to do what master said or there would be pain.

When they found out that he could only push things with air, they debated on whether to keep him alive—it was a useless power for fighting. But Master refused to lose any more money on this deal. The Master had a three-quarter Demonise called Iurynopthis under his control and ordered it to make sure the boy Forsaken followed orders, before letting the boy run free on the streets as petty thief, with orders to bring the best back to Master and to stay in Elysium. For a long time it was merely the thought of the Demonise that kept him in line, for it had been demonstrated what would happen if he were to disobey. It only took one slipup to keep him in line for good.

He was still a child when he Master put him out on the streets to fend for himself. If he didn’t learn quickly he would die—that was his first lesson. So he learned to hide his arm and power, to keep to the shadows, and to not ever get caught. Over time he developed his power more and more, and learned to use it, discreetly, to help him steal.

As a child, he made friends with the human orphans on the streets. They would live together, sleep together, steal together, and play together. He learned what names were and chose one for himself: Deveran.

He learned that human children were weak… and that they died easily. Many of his friends died from sickness, cold, starvation, murder, or sometimes just disappear. He once found a friend in a fellow Forsaken, a young girl about his age who had a remnant right arm. She was tiny though. Too small. She wouldn’t ever talk, but Deveran felt close to her anyway, maybe for the smile he would be rewarded with when he brought her food, maybe for the companionship of another outcast like himself. He called her Sinth because she laughed once when he stole a flower and gave it to her. He looked after her as best he knew how, but she died anyway. He learned to not make friends because they would always die and it hurt too much to watch that anymore. He pulled back from the few friends he still had and has kept everyone at a distance no closer than the title of ‘contact’ ever since.

Soon after Sinth died, Deveran took to attending the Forsaken games where they would fight in a pit for the pleasure of humans. He went not so much to watch the fights as to watch the people. He found it curious how much the crowd could be swayed by the turn of the fight, and one day had an idea. With a flick of his wrist, a small localized puff of air diverted a surely-fatal punch just enough for the opponent to dodge and land his own crippling blow. The reaction of the crowd was fantastic and Deveran couldn’t help but laugh at their surprised faces, the ecstatic cheers of those previously booing, and the way the masters’ and aristocrats’ faces fell so far. He had found a new game for himself, but was always careful not to get caught, or be too obvious, always only changing the smallest things.

He only played with lower level fights just outside of the slums, but one day Master found out. Deveran hadn’t been bringing enough back for a long time and Master was calling the demon to punish him with magic. In a panic he told of new things he had seen and heard the might please Master, and blurted out that he had changed the entire outcome of a fight. There was no punishment, and since then Deveran hasn’t had to come back with petty thieving. Instead he receives a name or description of the fighter who should win and must make it so with the threat of pain being entirely dependent on the amount of Master loses if he fails.

Recently Deveran has been managing better with the intermediate games, but fears the day when Master will make him move up to the even stronger fighters.

Race: Forsaken Human
Remnant Location: Left arm
Remnant Effect: Control of air that, if focused acutely enough, can mimic effects of telekinesis.

So... Iurynopthis (the Demonise) wasn't really planned. He(?) just sort of wrote himself in there as a believable way to keep Deveran in the the town, but I think I like the idea. I suppose I'll write up sheet for him too, though hopefully it'll be a shorter one -thasmiley-

What do you think, Dirzrahel? Should I make a separate character sheet for Iurynopthis? I don't think I would have to RP much with the demon without Deveran right there. Do they count as package, maybe?

Dirzrahel

Hm, yep, that's fine. No need for a second profile, I like the character as is.

So yes, they would count as a 'package'.

Username: Atma-Noah

Name: Nali

Age: 25

Gender: Female

Appearance: A red head with olive complexion, she stands at an average height with a very slender, non-menacing build. She often fits her hair in a ponytail but still allows her bangs to fall un-parted over her green eyes. She often attires herself in a simply outfit of a tight yellow tunic with the mid drift cut off, and leggings of the same attribute making her movements unhindered. Around her left leg is fitted a strap that holds three throwing knives, the belt around her waist is the resting place for her main weapon of choice, a three sectional staff that is tipped on either end with a spear end and a small halberd, which settles on her lower back and tied with slip knots for easy access. However the most noticeable aspect of Nali’s appearance is the tribal tattoo that spans from the corner of her right eye all the way down the right side of her body. Some sections appear to be letters of a language while other pieces do not.

Race: Human Remnant/Forsaken (Depends if you count it a full part of the body or not)

Personality: Unlike many of her kind Nali finds herself quite content with her lot in life, even managing to make the most out of every situation. She is still human however and can sometimes come off as hot tempered or rude. She often lets her emotions get the best of her and lashes out in them towards the cause of many situations. She does her best to have fun with whatever task she is given.

Background: Nali’s family understood that her uniqueness could cause her to be out casted from the society so they stowed her away for much of her life. She spent much of her time stuck in a room of her parent’s estate being educated in the properness of a lady of her high class. However the dreariness of life caused her to want to venture out beyond her home. Her remnant made her dream come true, as she slowly mastered the ability bestowed to her, she found she could go anywhere and be back before her parents found out. As she came of age she would plead with her stern father and quiet mother for them to let her go out on her own. They however were unwilling, and so she stayed a prisoner of her own family.

It wasn’t until two years ago that she heard about others like herself. They being less fortunate and forced to fight caused a great unrest in her. Despite the concern of her parents she left her home to learn a way to defend herself and hold her own ground against the cruel world system against those like herself.

Now she finds herself two years later a different person, a strong willed woman bent on seeking her own justice against those that are afraid of those like her. She wanders the state trying to find others like herself who want to see a change.

Remnant: Nali’s remnant is her whole circulatory system, which is suspected to encompass the heart as it does all her veins. Even her blood is an unusual metallic liquid. This causes her veins to glow and unnatural metallic color through her skin. The remnant causes the heart to beat at an untold rate of speed causing an increase in blood flow consequently making every muscle stronger. This especially affects the agility of the individual to the point where she can move leaving a displaced image in the area she was last in, causing a mirage if you will. So simply but she can move really fast.

Race:
Human/Remnant
Personality:
Lilial is a very quiet person who doesn’t seem to be noticing anything at all. But yet she does notice everything around her yet she stays simply still and waits and listens. Her life has not been easy for all the things her parents have done to her.
Background:
When Lilial was born her eyes were closed and only after three weeks did she first open her eyes. Mother stood shocked with her child in her arms. She saw that her child’s left iris was a remnant and she was afraid of it. But instead of abandoning her baby she covered her baby’s left eye with a cloth and simply told everyone her baby had an injured eye from an accident. Yet one day when she was five years old her father was angry and ripped it off and saw the child’s remnant, but yet before the father could make a single move Lilial ran out of the house with only the clothes on her back. She had read his thoughts, or more importantly his intentions with her eye, which let her understand the mind when opened.

Lilial lived on the street for years before she was caught. She had been caught by her father when she was sleeping in an alley way and locked her up within the fighting ring, hoping that she would get killed right away, yet she survived by seeing the thoughts of the attacker and somehow killed her assailant. Now she lives chained up trying to fight for her life. Every time the battle is finished they knock her out before taking her back to her cell hold.
Remnant Location:
The iris of her left eye
Remnant Effect:
It allows her to read the thoughts of those who are around her, and she has been developing her power to see actions before they are made.

Look at the picture in his profile. I based it completely off that. Notice that his head isn't even human-shaped, but skewed. He literally looks like he's not human at all. As such, his mouth is not visible since it's covered, that goes with his eyes and the rest of your question.

Name: Ammon Hearth

Age: 28

Gender: Male

Appearance:

http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm213/Daemon_010/hazama.jpg

Race: Human Forsaken

Personality: Completely devoid of conscience or empathy. Ammon is exactly what one would expect a psychopath to be like. He is completely lacking in guilt or morals, allowing him to do whatever he wishes with, or to, the people around him.

Background: Ammon was born the bastard son of a criminal lord and never knew his mother’s name or face. Rather than being afraid of the Remnant the boy possessed that was his spine, Ammon’s father figured it may come in use when Ammon was older. Ammon was brought up around thieves and killers, learning from them all the while the tricks of their trades. Ammon grew up without knowing any moral code or what things like conscience, remorse, or guilt are. When he took up the knife to work for his father, Ammon’s remnant power became very, very useful.

This all lasted until his father’s operation was shut down. His father was killed and Ammon, after they discovered he had a remnant, was forcefully subdued after killing nearly all the lawmen who tried to take him.

He awoke in the dungeon below the fighting pit. His fate to battle others like him to the death did not bother Ammon much. He enjoyed killing and he had been handed an excuse to do so and not be punished for it. His skill with knives and his hands made Ammon a deadly fighter. He decided to wait it out in the pit until an “opportunity” arose for a better situation.

Remnant Location: Ammon’s remnant comprises his whole spine and much of his skull. It even reaches in to his brain at some points which has caused his eyes to be glowing yellow and have snake-like pupils

Remnant Effect: Ammon’s remnant allows him to affect time by either slowing it down or stopping it entirely. It is a temporary thing and tends to affect him adversely when he keeps one effect active for too long. He suffers from crippling migraines before passing out in such cases.

:D Hi everyone! I'm hoping you need another roleplayer? A lot of the roleplays I've been in have died so...I'm on the lookout.

Um...just to kind of situate myself, how many of each race do you have currently? Like...part-remnant, full remnant, demonise etc etc?

Things have gotten crazy near finals! I can't make any promises as to when, but I'll reply to Ludypoof if Dirzrahel doesn't have time to :)

And to toxias... I think atm we have four Forsaken who are active (Myr, Deveran, Ammon, Lillial though she may be a part-remnant? since it isn't her entire eye?) and one Demonise, but he isn't played as a separate character.

Yeah Lilial is only a part remnant.

Oops. Sorry for dissappearing momentarily. Anyways, so would you guys prefer a demonise or a part-remenent?

I don't think so. If you want to post that would be nice but I can wait on Dirz as well.

Hey, I'm really interested in your RP. I'm new to the site, and there was stuff saying I'm restricted from PM's till I do more posts. But I am interested, and want to know more about the Demonise, and how your Arcana works. Its limitations, like is it all stuffy old Wizard, wands and spell books, or is it more spontaneous like a Sorcerer from DnD. Cause I have some delicious ideas brewing in my head, and would like to have them unleashed :D.

*pokes* I'm still here, and interested too, but I've got AP crap coming up the next few weeks. I'm still deciding if I want a part-remenant or Demonise. Which one would you guys prefer to move the plot along?
