Something sinister awaits far beneath the ocean floor.



Introduction:

There are too many of us. Some saw it coming but few imagined the extremity it might reach.

The skyscrapers climbed upwards, new levels being added as fast as the labourers could work – Prices rising with them. The rich continued their lives contentedly, barely noticing the changes around them, whilst those without money suffered.

The governments of the world had long been preparing for this crisis however. They had been reviewing the population density annually for decades, watching the numbers swell far past each town’s capacity. Pleas from the public were met with as many temporary solutions as could be afforded and a promise that the problem would be resolved soon.

Construction of Benthic One was already underway.

Now complete, its purpose is as a habitation for the dozens of professionals assigned to the mission, collecting data and performing experiments all in hope of finding a way to elevate the ocean floor above sea level, providing more land for the human race. The underwater station is built with the best technology currently in existence and houses some of the most renowned scientists of the century. Progress is swift, hopes are high and many believe without doubt that humanity’s future will soon be saved.

They are unaware of what they will soon awaken.
