This is an RP based on the world, races, story, and lore of Dragon Age: Origins.
This RP is also rater R for nudity, fetishistic amounts of blood and gore, alcohol, sexual themes, coarse language, and mature situations
There is a popular saying among the people of the world that always seems to ring true at the best of times in the worst of ways.
Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it.
Little over a century ago, the last surviving Grey Wardens of Ferelden united the peoples of their land against the Darkspawn Blight that was quickly descending upon them. The last of the Wardens stood vigilant and and unwavering in the face of danger, spitting death in the eye, even when facing the archdemon itself.
In Ferelden's darkest hour, the people united under the last of the Wardens for the sake of their own survival. The end of all things that lived and breathed without the taint of the Darkspawn was upon Ferelden, but the united army of all of Ferelden's races drove the Blight back, ending it with the slaying of the archdemon.
It has been a barely over a hundred years since that day, and the races and nations of Ferelden resumed to their plotting and their bickering, refusing to learn their lesson, refusing to heed to words of the Wardens, even though it was the Wardens that saved the world from being consumed by the Blight for the fifth time in known history.
Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it.... if only it was that simple.
The Grey Wardens slowly began to rebuild their numbers, recruiting only the best from all lands, bringing the recruits back to Weisshaupt fortress in Anderfels' Darkspawn littered Hunterhorn Mountains to train them properly. There is no reservation for recruitment according to race or social status; if one impresses a Grey Warden with ones skill, that individual will be offered recruitment, and on occasion, the Rite of Conscription will be used.
Now, the Wardens have all felt the sickly sweetness of the massing darkness to the far south, one that has even caused many to vomit due to the strength of the taint. Some of the fresher and weaker recruits even died from the shock. The Wardens know that the treaties with the people of Ferelden will not be enough, even if they all united and fought as they did a century ago, they would only be consumed by the sheer size of the Blight. This means that the Wardens will have to make history, yet again, and unite all of the known world together against this rising Blight.
In war, victory.
In peace, vigilance.
In death, sacrifice.
Maker protect us all.
Humans: The most common people on the face of the world, and the most dominant.
City Elves: also quite common in any large human city. City elves are second class citizens, having been freed from slavery by Andraste, but they are kept down in the slums, called Alienages, for the most part.
Dalish Elves: Proud nomads that wander the forests of the world looking for their lost history.
Dwarves: The caste-strict people that live within and beneath the mountains. Known for being some of the finest weapons enchanters and smithies in the world. Whether noble or commoner, life is not easy. Commoners are subject to abuse and extortion wile Nobles are constantly combating for the Throne of Orzimmar.
Qunari: a large humanoid race with dark skin, light hair, and vivid eyes. Hailing from the far-away island nation of Par Vollen, they are a powerful warrior race of people with a strong sense of honor.
Mages: any race can be a Mage. Most mages are aligned with the Tower and the Circle of Magi, there are always the Apostates, those who hide from the Tower and the Templars, but they rarely survive. Those that do are very dangerous.
Warrior:
Berserker: Those who would sacrifice finesse for a dark rage that increased their strength and resilience.
Champion: The champion is a veteran warrior and a confident leader in battle. Possessing skill at arms impressive enough to inspire allies, the champion can also intimidate and demoralize foes. These are the heroes you find commanding an army, or plunging headlong into danger, somehow making it look easy.
Reaver: Demonic spirits teach more than blood magic. Reavers terrorize their enemies, feast upon the souls of their slain opponents to heal their own flesh, and can unleash a blood frenzy that makes them more powerful as they come nearer to their own deaths.
Templar: As servants of the Chantry, the templars have been the most effective means of controlling the spread and use of arcane power for centuries.
Rogues:
Assassin: The assassin finds any notion of fairness a quaint ideal that has no place in combat. Poisons are their weapon of choice, as are crippling strikes that inflict persistent wounds on their foes. As killers, assassins are a marvel of stealth and efficiency.
Bard: Bards follow an Orlesian tradition, acting as assassins, spies, saboteurs and following other secretive pursuits in the constant, and sometimes petty, struggles between nobles. Having taken the minstrel's art to new levels, bards are skilled performers and master manipulators; bards can inspire their allies or dishearten their foes through song and tale.
Duelist: Duelists are deadly combatants who prefer to fight in light armour and strike with light, but precise attacks. Experienced duelists have preternatural reflexes that allow them to evade their opponents' clumsy blows, as well as strike with remarkable precision.
Ranger: Rangers have an affinity for open country and wilderness, but as independent scouts and militia, they are opportunists, not stewards of nature. They exploit every advantage of their environment, and can lure wild beasts to attack their foes.
Mages:
Arcane Warrior: Among the ancient elves, there were mages who trained their magical arts to augment their martial prowess. They channeled magical power through their weapons and bodies, becoming terrors on the battlefield. Most consider these skills lost forever, but they may still linger in forgotten corners of the world. Arcane warriors may learn to use their magic score to satisfy the strength requirement to equip higher-level weapons and armor.
Blood Mage: Every mage can feel the dark lure of blood magic. Originally learned from demons, these dark rites tap into the power of blood, converting life into mana and giving the mage command over the minds of others. Such power comes with a price, though; a blood mage must sacrifice his own health, or the health of allies, to fuel these abilities
Shapeshifter: Rumors speak of barbarians that hold secrets of transforming the body into the form of animals. The Circle of Magi denies such rumors, but this rare art survives in the forgotten corners of Thedas. Mastery of their bodies allows shapeshifters some protection, even in human form, making them durable opponents and staunch allies.
Spirit Healer: Not all entities of the Fade are demonic. Many are benevolent entities consisting of life energy, which can be called upon to mend flesh and heal disease. Spirit healers focus on channeling the energies granted by these spirits, making them indispensable members of a party of adventurers.

Personality: a driven and relentless individual both in life and in combat. He will go out of his way to help those in need, but only if it serves the greater good in the long run. He will not waste time to pull a kitten out of a tree unless doing so will convince a Teyrn or Arl to fight for him. Has a great disdain for politics and has no patience for them or people involved in them. Completely devoted to his order and to those within the order. Never makes empty promises, and has the mule-ish stubbornness to drive himself to fulfill any promise he has made and refuse to admit defeat, even when it is clear and present that the odds are stacked against him. He could face the Blight alone and he would still initiate the charge.
Origin Story: The son of an Arl in a walled city on the slope of the great Dragon's Peak, Valerius grew up with modest comfort. In the current civil unrest of the time, skirmishes and small battles were common and the smell of rotting flesh was a scent that all became accustomed to. At a young age, Valerius was taught to defend himself by his father and elder brother. The young Valerius showed an affinity for the synchronous harmony between sword and shield.
Valerius' father had been keeping the city safe through a series of alliances with other neighboring Banns. Little did Arl Alaric know that his allies were scheming behind his back. One day, when Valerius was around eighteen years old, a Grey Warden by the name of Titus visited their city in hopes of finding promising recruits among the Knights. Arl Alaric took this as a chance to showboat to the Grey Warden, leading a march through the dense forest that tangles the slopes of Dragon's Peak with his sons and finest soldiers in tow.
The Arl's allies had planted spies among the serfs in the castle, and planted an ambush accordingly. In their vanity, the Banns and Arls that had once been allied to Arl Alaric lead their own troops as well, hoping to personally gain the renown for slaying one of the most powerful Arls in the region. The comabt that ensued was far from clean. Titus, the Grey Warden, took up arms with Arl Alaric's men, happening to be shoulder-to-shoulder with the Arl's second-eldest son Valerius. Titus was not an easy Warden to impress, but he was very impressed with the young man's combat prowess and steady coldness under pressure. Even as they young man watched his closest friends, even his own brother and father die at the hands of those once thought allies and friends - men who had brought Valerius gifts at his birthdays - Valerius remained outwardly emotional as a boulder. Inside, he was a burning hearth of sorrow and hate. The death around him fed his strength, every drop of blood that he lost fueled the fire in his belly. Still, even with this hatred and desire for blood and lust for vengeance, Valerius committed himself to his duty first. He forced himself to return to his father's city instead of chasing after the killers.
Valerius arrived to see his beloved home aflame. Titus, who had been fighting with the boy the entire time, watched in silence, seeing the dark energy seep from the boy's very soul in to his muscle. The boy was a Reaver. Valerius charged through the fire, flames and smoke that suffocated his beloved home, killing all those who drew steel against him. The young man's pristine clothes of white silk were now stained red and completely sodden with blood. Valerius hacked and slashed his way in to his families castle to see his father's closest ally and dearest friend pull a dagger from the ribs of his violated younger sister, dropping her limp body next to the similarly violated body of his mother and the gutted corpse of his younger brother. Even his sister-in-law and his nephew and niece lay on the floor, their blood seeping into the wooden floorboard.
The last of the Alaric family charged at the man that had succeeded in killing Valerius' entire family. Blades clashed again and again, they seemed to be equally matched, but Titus and Valerius could tell that the traitorous scum, Arl Rahl, was slowly losing. The Arl recieved a timely rescue from his soldiers; a crossbow bolt finding its way in to Valerius' ribs, giving Arl Rahl a large enough opening to strike. Valerius was able to evade the blow, mostly. The sword cut deep in to Valerius's face, leaving a pale scar over his nose and face.
Once Rahl retreated, leaving the wounded Valerius to die, Titus slung the young man over his shoulder and spirited Valerius away to safety. When Valerius came to, the bolt was removed from his side and the wound on his face was already a scar. Titus made the offer to be a Grey Warden to Valerius, saying that the boy far exceeded the expectations that Titus had for anyone in this region of Ferelden. Valerius accepted and joined the ranks of the Grey Wardens. When he entered the Wardens, however, Valerius recieved a runic tattoo on the right side of his face that is meant to suppress his powers as a Reaver.
When Titus officially took Valerius as his apprentice, the Senior Commander would take Valerius with him on excursions to fight random Darkspawn raids or to recruit members for the ranks of the Wardens. One such excursion took Titus and Valerius through the Kochari Wilds, where they stumbled upon a small village of Apostates. Out of all of the powerful witches there, one in particular caught the eyes of the Grey Wardens, though on some varying reasons. A girl with raven black locks of hair and icy blue eyes stood out amongst the rest. Being a Templar once, Titus could sense powerful magic, and this girl, Aelia, was throbbing with it.
Taking the girl from her tribe, with her consent, of course, Titus gave Valerius the responsibility to teach the girl of the Wardens' history and to teach her proper sword forms. They became close friends through the years. When it came time for Aelia to do to Joining, Valerius was the Warden that entered the mountains with her and the other recruits of her class. Overseeing them as they Collected the vails of Darkspawn blood and retrieved a golden tile from the abandoned temple at the summit of the tallest mountain.
When Aerila decided to leave and travel the world, Valerius voiced his disapproval and displeasure, but that would not stop her. He chided himself for being foolish and entertaining such fancies and hardened himself even further. The glibness and joy a young stallion such as Valerius should have was absent, replaced with the cold and hard vigil of a soldier who knew only soldiering.

Personality: Calm, kind, and understanding. Having spent so much of his life in the Wardens, Titus knows how to remain calm at all times, no matter how horrific the visage before him may be. He has a calculating eye and a mathematical mind, making him a great tactician and one of the finest and most critical recruiters
Origin Story: Titus was a commoner in the seaside city of Rialto. Not having any noble blood in him and growing up on the crime-filled streets, Titus quickly learned how to avoid conflict and confrontation with common sense. Still, Titus was trying to be a decent person in an indecent city and and indecent time. Due to the high tariff on all goods coming in to the city at that time, tensions were high, and riots were not anything unusual. One night, a riot was worse than most, resulting in many docks and markets being burned; Titus' family perished in the flames.
In the aftermath of riots and civil unrest, the Chantry walks the bloodied streets to take in orphans. Titus was one of these orphans. He grew up in the Chantry, being a ward of the Revered Mother. When he was twelve, Titus became a squire to the order of Templars.
Titus served at the Mages Tower in Antiva, earning the notice of the Grey Wardens when he was able to resist the siren songs of both a Sloth and Lust demon, proceeding to Smite the unholy things and banish them back to the Fade.
When Titus became a Warden, he was a natural leader, his charisma unmatched. Joining the Wardens at the ripe age of twenty, Titus has spent the past forty years in service to the people all over the world, leading small Warden parties in to Darkspawn infested territory, coming out with minimal losses.
