With no time to spare Ezio bounded down the tower with Superhuman Precision until reaching the floating platform on which he had arrived on not 30 minutes earlier.

Iorek watched Sam close the portal, and turned to examine his surroundings.
Of all the worlds he had visited, this one was among the most alien.
He stood on a courtyard outside a large, ornate tower, from his position, he examined a cloaked human figure descending the tower opposite with a sort of feline grace and composure. This man, no doubt an agent of the Magisterium, posed a potential threat.

Ezio stood up, regained his composure and surveyed his surroundings... what he saw was two towers separated by a Thick Stone Causeway and on the other side what seemed to be a large, almost human-like, bear gazing towards him with Fiery Intent.
Was this... "Bear" a Templar agent? Ezio could never be sure. He took one last glance and fled behind the tower contemplating his next move...

Iorek observed speculatively as the shrouded figure reached the base of the tower, a deep frown carved its way onto his face as he saw the Agent recede behind the masonry of the opposite tower. He huffed petulantly.
He reached out a paw and started scratching at a piece of fallen stone, sparks danced around his paw as he worked up a rhythm, leaving deep gouges inches deep in the mossy receptacle of his frustration.

Ezio stood, resting his arm on the large imposing tower next to him and sighed, he knew the inevitable was upon him and he would be drawn to fight the monster that apposed him.
With this Ezio climbed the tower once again before leaping from the very peak of the stone beast and throwing his arms apart revealing a intricately folded parachute, Ezio cared not for where he landed, only to be closer to his enemy, and the end...

He deduced that the device being used to traverse the distance between them was a machination similar to Lee Scoresby's balloon.

Ezio gracefully let go of the parachute landing on the floor safe and sound approximately 100 meters from the towering beast. "For it is not I that must go back... "Bear" for you shall find out why not to mess with a master assassin..." Ezio flicked out his Hidden Wrist Blade poised to strike at the sudden glimpse of movement...

Iorek watched the man ready himself, picking up on a deft flick of the wrist, he focused his attention, his eyes widening as realisation dawned.
A sound emanated from the bear's throat, just identifiable as a deep laugh
"You possess the audacity to challenge me with a child's dagger, Agent? You shall be even easier to best than foolish old Iofur!"
His moment of mirth passed, the bear lowered his head, curling his lips back into a feral snarl
"Your blood shall paint these towers"

Ezio realizing the bear was right stood upright and sheathed the Blade, but before the bear had time to react he threw his hand down to his belt in one fell swoop and tossed 3 razor sharp throwing knifes with deadly precision at the Bear.

Iorek saw the sudden flash of movement, but his body reacted a pace behind his brain, and he could not move out of the way in time.
Only one of the blades was deflected by his thick armor, another grazed his left foreleg and flew off into the distance, and the wound trailed blood, the third and last knife buried itself up to the hilt in the same leg.

Ezio was amazed at the Resilience of the Bear... the Charging Bear!
"Oh Merda!" Ezio cried.
Ezio reacted without thought and tossed himself to the side but not quite fast enough to avoid the charge of a 1 tonne bear. The Humongous Bear crashed into Ezio with the force of a thousand Venetian Brawlers sending him sprawling in the mud a few feet away.

During the harsh winters back on Svalbard, hungry Panserbjørn would raise up on their hind legs and force their front paws down onto ice as thick as themselves with roughly 3500 pounds of force, shattering the ice and allowing the bear to ambush the seal swimming below.
Now, on the strange world he found himself on, Iorek Byrnisonm King of the Panserbjørn, was about to test this method on the man lying prone at his feet.
He felt in need of an audience.

The regal beast had never been attacked like that before, his previous opponents, other Panserbjørn, were far to honourable. The sensation was new to him.

It was quite the educational experience.

The bear slumped and fell down with a deep, guttural groan. And heard a sharp cry of pain.

Ezio felt the bear crush his legs before he had even realized what he had done, the pain was excruciating but not crippling enough that he could not hold a sword. He struggled with his sword until he unsheathed it and had a quick glance at the gleaming metal before bringing it down through the Giants Chest.

The combined agony of his amateur castration and the sword buried 12 inches into his chest drive Iorek into a frenzy.
Pain clouded his normally rational thought processes, and instead of ending the fight quickly, as would be best, he clamped the mans shoulder in his jaws and rose up, taking the screaming man with him,
The great bear snapped out his powerful neck and sent the man flying toward the wall of the tower, wanting nothing more than to see his limp body dashed against the rocks.

The bear calmed down as he saw the peaceful and very comforting sight of the limp figure flying through the air.
He was surprised when the man stood back up.
He was even more surprised when the broken and bloody mess of a man still managed to land a dagger in his chest. It entered vertically, and scraped against and between two ribs, it did not penetrate deeply. But the bear hissed in pain

Ezio eyed the bear with a lacy grin, he wasn't finished with him yet. Ezio limped his injured arm into his pouch and grabbed a smoke bomb out and with his free arm his crossbow, made from the finest oak in all of Italy and fine tuned by his old friend Leanardo Da Vinci, the smoke bomb he threw on the floor and the crossbow bolt fired directly for the injured beasts neck twirled through the smoke catching the beast off guard.

Iorek's vision was obscured by a thick wall of synthetic smoke, it clouded his sight, as well as his most attuned scent, his sense of smell. Without its nose a Panserbjørn is a naught but a furtive beast unable to detect its surroundings.
Out of instinct, the bear ducked low and tucked in his chin, drawing his legs close to his body, and managed a slow forward advance, something invisible to him clattered off his neck plates. He payed it no mind, instead advancing until he broke through the wall of smoke

Ezio gifted with the ability of Eagle Vision focused through the smoke and saw that his attack and pattered of the thick neck plate of the bear. He saw it rise and start its charge towards him, but Ezio was ready, Eagle vision showing the bears every step, every breath a faint grey mass of colour.

Ezio readied his hidden blade to the beasts neck...

Iorek quickly decided that the charge was a bad idea, it forced him to pant heavily, drawing more smoke into his lungs. To counteract this, he held his breath, and stopped charging. The smoke lifted slightly, and he was able to make out the silhouette of the man, his eyes were still more accurate than a those of a human, and it would be a while before the man could see through the smoke, he moved into position

A wall of smoke behind the man exploded as three tons of solid bear charged through, aiming for his back.

Iorek stopped suddenly. The smoke cleared completely, showing the two of them frozen in a macabre dance of death.
The man had his sword pressed to his neck, and Iorek's jaws were poised around the mans neck.
He sighed inwardly.
"A stalemate, human", his voice slightly slurred on account of his mouth being unable to close
They regarded each other for a long while.
"Lets end this with honour"
He withdrew his great jaws, the man regarding him warily. The bear lumbered off to a distance of twenty yards.
"One final charge, to decide the victor"

Templar or not" Ezio arose clasping the gash on his neck, he knew these were his final moments, he drew his hand away and with both arms flicked open the blades on each wrist. Poised to strike, he focused his eyes one last time on his enemy, his potential doom.

The man frowned and returned his blades to their sockets
"I myself assumed you were of the Magisterium, sent here by the church to stop me from reaching the treacherous Coulter"
It would appear that they were pawns in a much bigger game

Ezio sat down, the wounds finally catching up with him.

The bear, despite the realisation that they were not enemies after all, nodded sagely.
Under Panserbjørn tradition, a battle must end with death, if the man decided that he would give his life, then Iorek would abide, and honour the man's memory and prowess in the years to come.
Iorek lifted a heavy paw and swiped for the kneeling mans neck.

At the same moment, the master assassin revealed his bluff, leaping up and bringing his blade forward towards the bear's eye. He knew this was it, his final moments...

The bluff was not a lie though, the man respected the bear and knew his place, he was just amazed at how a bear could talk let alone be honorable.

Sam sat waiting for his enemy to appear, he gauged the time it would take for a cyborg to reach him and it came up to be 4 Minutes 35 Seconds, He peered over the rock and the dot was now clear as day, a cyborg with gleaming white hair was powering towards him with immeasurable speed. Sam vaulted the rock and fired his BLADE System assault rifle at the Cyborg.

Raiden saw as the Cyborg vaulted the rock carrying a strange weapon, before he knew it the Cyborg had started shooting at him. That is when it became apparent that this was not a Desperado Cyborg, but someone different. He attempted to dodge the bullets and parry any that came near. But these bullets were different, unlike anything he had seen before, Raiden felt a shock of pain as a few hit him, synthetic blood spilled onto the sand. Instead of stopping to examine his injuries he poured more effort into his Ninja Run attempting to reach his opponent faster.

Sam decided it was best to keep shooting and see if he could damage the monster enough that it would retreat to a safe distance, he had analysed the enemy in the quick 10 Milliseconds he had staring into the face of the demon and seen it had only one weapon, a Shining Blade Buzzing with Electricty...

Raiden noticed that this Cyborg had no intention of ceasing fire, Raiden took a couple more hits but this was minor compared to his wounds during his time as a child soldier. He had now reached this Cyborg and could see it was shining white and had a visor. He gripped his HF Blade tightly and slashed in a upward motion. "Looks like its time for Jack... To let 'er rip!"

Sam saw the blade buzzing with power just in time to activate his ARS suit, the suit slowed the Blade seemingly to a halt and Sam dodged with ease, he landed on the ground and before the Cyborg had time to turn in his direction he had powered his right hand with the remaining power left in the suit and thrusted his arm at the monster with intent to kill.

Sam hadn't anticipated the speed of the Cyborg correctly and his ARS suit charged only a few milliseconds too late as he watched as the Blade made mincemeat of his assault rifle, before the blade could connect with his body Sam dropped to his knees and retreated on his Knee bound thrusters to a distance he thought safe from his enemy

Raiden saw the weapon fall to the ground in pieces and noticed the Man had retreated using what appeared to be 'knee rockets.' "Nice toy" Raiden taunted, "now it is your turn to DIE!" Raiden sped towards the Man at an incredible speed. He deduced that this Man's ability to be so quick had an affect on his suit and he theorised that it took time to charge. With this in mind Raiden wanted to reach his enemy before he was able to dodge his Blade.

Sam knew the Cyborg would try and exploit the delay in his suits recharge but what the Cyborg didn't know was that dodging the blade was child's-play and the suit felt no strain but too speed his reactions to immeasurable heights and to use his thruster packs degenerated his suits power. Before the suit was useless he disengaged the boosters and fled behind another rock.

Sam sprung up from behind the rock and used his thrusters to propel himself even higher into the air.

"Sam Gideon! Pleasure to meet you!" Sam grabbed two EMP grenades from his suits belt and tossed them at the Cyborg, Anything that is part machine is sure to be affected, the suit he wore was resilient to EMP blasts but Sam noticed it was now running out of energy, as he chucked the grenades he disengaged the boosters and braced himself to land.

Sam... That name would always know Raiden's hatred and anger, this is because a cyborg named Sam Rodriguez had brutally injured Raiden and killed the African Prime Minister. Anger swelled inside Raiden's head and he lost control. "SAM I WILL DESTROY YOU!!" Raiden lashed out, slicing the two EMP grenades in half and then began speeding towards Sam at an even faster speed then before. Raiden gripped his Blade tightly and was ready to slice Sam into tiny pieces.

Sam saw the Cyborg swell with anger, this thing had feelings? what? How can a machine have feelings? these were all questions he would need to get answers for later as the cyborg had hastened its assault on Sam, Sam chose the Plasma Ball launcher from his BLADE System and Fired at the Cyborg, this was for two reasons, one being it gave his suit time to fully charge and two... how was he supposed to slice through that!

Raiden once again flew into the air, this time crashing into a rock. More synthetic blood spluttered from his mouth, "Damn, that was a hard hit." Raiden got to his feet and wobbled a bit, that was it he was going to finish this. He thought that Sam had used a lot of his suit's energy to land such a hard blow, Raiden prepared himself and once again charged at his enemy. When Raiden was in striking distance he was going to end this.

Sam saw the cyborg hit the rock with the force to shatter bones, it came at a price though, Sam had miscalculated the energy needed to dish out a punch like that and his suit had overheated, this was bad, without the suit Sam still had immense reactions and strength but compared to the suits power he was crippled. Sam equipped his Heavy Machine Gun and fired at the enemy hoping to keep him at bay long enough for his suit to recharge and long enough to deal the final blow.

As he got close he began slashing at Sam attempting to cut off his arms.

Sam cursed as the bullets flew past the cyborg without doing any serious damage but he knew he had to concentrate, this was one opponent he didn't want to put down his guard on. Sam dodged the slashes and jumped into the air but not before one of the slashes came into contact with his left arm, leaving a deep cut immobilizing it. Raiden was injured and he had barley even harmed Sam, he felt that this was it but he refused to go without a fight. He mustered up all his strength and would non-stop charge Sam slashing and cutting as he went, at least hoping to deal some damage.

The cyborg wasn't slowing his attack, Sams suit was on the verge of imploding in on itself he had used it too much and the strain was becoming unbearable, Sam had one last trick up his sleeve, he quickly jumped away from the fray and disabled his Safety Limiters, increasing the duration he can hold the suits power at maximum. He knew he had to finish this quickly so this time he charged up his leg with the force to destroy entire buildings and swung his leg at the cyborg connecting with the Blade in his enemy's hand.

The leg came towards Raiden's Blade, as it struck he resonated the blade to it's highest frequency hoping to cut through the leg. The leg however had other plans, it gave tremendous resistance to his Blade and eventually Raiden was only able to cut it slightly before his Blade flew out of his hands. He knew this was it and prepared himself for the inevitable.

Sam flinched at the pain the Blade had caused but was determined to finish his enemy off, the suit was putting him in excruciating pain and the power behind the leg faltered, Sam connected with his enemy and the blow sent him tumbling into the sands of the Desert, his enemy... a large dent in his skin like Armour lay unconcious on the sands but the glow of his life force was still active...

It hadn't been enough...

Iorek’s swipe was one of honourable ending, not a viscious attack. As such he was unprepared for the assassin’s final gambit and unable to redirect the blow. As Ezio’s blade pierced his eye and cut straight through into the muscle of his brain Iorek’s paw slammed into the assassin’s body, claws tearing great wounds into the already damaged body. Iorek toppled over, dead, a look of surprise on his face and landed with a mighty thud. Ezio was tossed along the ground by the final blow, the last of his life leaking out and staining the ground around him red. A death similar to what he had given many others.

Welcome to S.M.U.T., both of you, and congratulations on the completion of your fist battle. Doughguy and I will be your judges today. If you have any questions or concerns about our judgement, please let us both know through PM. Thank you.

To start things off, I need to make something very clear. You'll both have to go back and reread the rules. Although this is a game and meant to be fun, not serious, there are always rules that need to be followed. Especially in a game such as this which has a few but extremely important guidelines. I understand that you're new and you're bound to stumble a little. That's just fine – we were all there once and we understand.

Let me highlight and explain some of your mistakes so you can work on them.

CrumpetCannon, throughout this battle you often did what we call "godmodding". This is where you force a hit or dictate what your opponent feels/does/experiences. This was especially apparent in the following post.

“Pain clouded his normally rational thought processes, and instead of ending the fight quickly, as would be best, he clamped the mans shoulder in his jaws and rose up, taking the screaming man with him,
The great bear snapped out his powerful neck and sent the man flying toward the wall of the tower, wanting nothing more than to see his limp body dashed against the rocks"

Here there were many problems. First up the attack. While throws are legal, your throw consisted of a bite which “clamped” onto your foe's shoulder. The wording there quite clearly indicates a level of damage as you cannot clamp something lightly. The attack is thus godmodding. Second, you said your opponent was “screaming”. That is not up to you to decide. It is your opponent’s choice whether their character screams or stays stoically silent through the attack. You have dictated what your opponent is doing and thus that is godmodding. Finally on a similar note the “limp body” is also gomodding. You are implying your foe makes no move during the throw and that they cannot react which is again, godmodding.

Lucasade, you were also guilty of this. Such as in post #17:

"He struggled with his sword until he unsheathed it and had a quick glance at the gleaming metal before bringing it down through the Giants Chest."

Here, the word "through" was the problem. You dictated what kind of damage Iorek took, which, once again, is against the rules. If you had substituted it with "towards", there wouldn't have been a problem as you would have given your opponent the chance to either block, dodge or take the hit.

Something else you lost Power points on, Lucasade, was the use of items not listed in your character sheet. For example, in post #7 and #11 respectively you used a parachute and many throwing daggers. You need to either refrain from using them in the future or simply add them to the character sheet so the judges know that you're not just making things up mid-battle.

Now, another big problem you both had and the reason your Flow points were so low is your disregard for the 75 word count limit. You need to understand that being just one word over the limit will cost you Flow. However, being 20 words over more than once forced us to subtract all the Flow points in those particular posts. Crumpet this was a problem for you in particular, you had multiple posts above 80 words and even 3 above 90, which is not only against the rules but very unfair to your opponent.

Another thing with Flow – it also has to do with the quality of your writing. It's clear that you both have great potential so I'm confident that you'll be able to improve the minor problems you had with punctuation and such. CrumpetCannon, you have a habit of leaving out period points and having a few unnecessary commas. Lucasade, the way you capitalized certain words and phrases was odd and made your posts seem a little awkward. Like I said, minor problems that can easily be fixed with a little practice. A big part was how long your sentences often were. Both of you had sentences that were up to 3-4 lines in length that were extremely difficult to read. They often required us to reread the sentences to make sense of them which really broke the flow of the battle.

Now on to Susan. While you both had moments of brilliant characterization, the majority of your posts contained very little. Some even contained what I call anti-Susan, wherin your character seemed to do something completely unlike them. A few examples of this:

In post #6 CrumptetCannon's character Iorek, a fearless, rather agressive Panserbjørn of noble origins spotted what he saw as an enemy and not only failed to call out to him, but ignored his presence completely. In many posts you also went over the top with the savagery of Iorek’s words. While he is a bear he is meant to be a king and the talk of “shredded limbs and ruptured chest cavities” and the like in post #9 went too far. There was also the case of post #30 where you spoke of Panserbjørn tradition requiring fights to end in death. This was a particularly bad point as Iorek was in fact exiled for killing a fellow bear in a battle.

In post #13 Lucasade's character was charged by Iorek from a distance of 100 meters. The master assassin failed to move out of the way in time and was hit. Frankly, that seems ridiculous.

In conclusion, you'll both need to practice and make sure you're familiar with the rules in preparation for your next battles.

Okay I'm just gonna skip to the nub and crux of it all.


This was a tricky one to work out but I wont like the many breakings of the rules made judging this a lot easier.

First thing is first. Lets do god modding since it is one of the most important rules of the game.
There is a rule within the game that allows touching. This is a rule set up to allow the creation of unavoidable moves. But at no point is one allowed to dictate damage, you're not even allowed to break skin. I think this misunderstanding here has settled the issue of touching since it appears to be difficult for people to understand So from today onwards, No more touching. But you guys were actually really well behaved until the last few posts then you lost it.

The second major issue that made judging easier was going over the required post limit of seventy five words. This very happened. At first I thought Luka was going to win the entire event because Fergy kept going over the word count but then Luka dude you turned that around quickly when you started going over the limit over and over again. Once the word limit is beat, a rigorous judging process just becomes light and casual reading because each post is judged individually and posts that go over the limit get big fat zeros and that shit accumulated for both of you guys.

Another thing I noticed, though it was pretty much only at the beginning, was how unnatural the talking felt to me. The first few dragged me out of the flow of the game and at the end I was grateful for the silent battling. i'm not saying stop talking but rather consider how you pick your opportunities to use dialogue.

What did I Enjoy?

The overall performance and that is exactly what it felt like. It felt as though I were part of a show with a beginning middle and end and I was happy to be a part of all of it. It was good stuff.

Fergy's character taking damage often and putting us into his mind frame as it happened opened up a means for us to connect with him more. The parts drawing back to the past was nice too. I definitely enjoyed that. I think if it wasn't for the rule issues Fergy's character would have been a dominant figure when it came to the flow stat. Which if I'm honest as a just is where a lot of Shazzam is handed out.

Luka's character was in susan heaven though, with good use of weapons and battle strategies what was the most interesting was the very idea that I felt Sam was the more three dimensional between the few characters.
