She had been on her way to work when she saw the havoc in New York City, zombies eating people. She turned immediately and fled, heading upstate for shelter, vowing to go back for her friend as soon as she could.

Brief History: Joel was a car mechanic in Brooklyn, the town in which he was born and raised. He was on his way to Times Square to meet his brother and some friends for drinks at a new bar that was opening. On the cab ride over, the gates of Hell themselves seemed to open - people mauling each other... eating one another. With the streets consumed with chaos, the cab crashed. He immediately started to head upstate, thinking it best to get out of the densely populated areas as soon as possible.
