Introductions:

I will regain my honor… I will take Talos this day! No one will stand in my way… Not even those damned sandy bastards! Ra’Shor thought darkly as he led his army into Talos for the second time; third, if you counted his previous attempt at defense. This time, however, he led them in from Firanos, not the Fieran Lowlands. No, for those lands had been lost to the Ekro under the watch of Seron. Pitiful… Ra’Shor thought. However, no more of these mental distractions! After peering out over the tropical plains of Talos, Ra’Shor turned and inspected his army, which ahd just exited a large cliff-valley in order to enter this way. It was one of the few ways to get by foot into Talos from Firanos, but Ra’Shor was confident that Scaravus was unaware they had taken it. Smirking to himself, the Essence of the Inferno returned to his march forward, ready to send the entirety of this land to oblivion courtesy of his own inferno.

Just a little more… A few more seconds and they’ll be all out in the open… Then… then we can take them… this and many more similar thoughts ran through Seraimoiron’s head as he pondered the Fieran army from the darkness of a camouflaged cave that gave any inhabitants a perfect view of the valley below without being seen themselves. It was a simple way of covering the cave mouth that kept it free from prying eyes, and yet the Sting of the Scorpion was still amazed by its usefulness. Like him, hundreds of his men were hidden amongst the rocks, in caves and other crevices that might hide a full-grown human. They one and all were waiting on his signal, a single sign for them to charge the unprotected flank of the Fieran army. And when they saw it, only a few leaps down the cliff-side would stand between them and the invaders’ flesh.

Battle Start

The battlefield was to be the area where the plains met the valley mouth. Firanos would be just enough into the open fields before Scaravus struck, ensuring their flank was as open as possible and that the Scaravians had something to help keep them within a choke, preventing the Fierans from effectively counter-attacking or flanking them back. Where Seraimoiron planned to meet the Fierans was a stretch of about 100 to 120 yards from cliff wall to cliff wall. After that, the cliff began to recede rapidly into the foothills and then even more rapidly into flat, rolling plains.

“Alright, let’s send these bastards back again…” Seraimoiron murmured, standing up and moving out to stand on the cliff edge. He held his staff straight up over his head and suddenly there was a short burst of light from its end. It was not dissimilar in intensity to holding up a large mirror and catching the sun light with it. In such case, it was unlikely to be seen by the Fierans unless someone was looking behind them and vaguely upwards.

The Scaravians, however, saw it. One by one, the brown-and-grey-clad men and women of the easternmost faction began to hop down from the rocks, moving lightly and quietly. Archers stayed in the rocks, ready to loose arrows at the second signal. Seraimoiron watched his troops carefully, waiting for either a Fieran to sound the alarm or them to get into a close enough position.

For now, however, there was no alarm. Why watch their backs? Talos was before them; the Scaravians would never set up an ambush this close to Firanos’s borders. With Ra’Shor at their head as well, nothing could stand before them. The Ekro were no longer a threat, and thus Scaravus would fall just like it had before. Little did they know that Seraimoiron had flashed his signal for the second time.

“CHAAAAARGE!!!” Seraimoiron and a few hundred Scaravian voices roared as one as they ran forward towards the Fieran flank. The rear-most of the red clad army turned in surprise before registering that they were once again succumbing to a Scaravian ambush. Arrows flew from the cliff-side, falling into the Fieran masses and felling quite a few. And so did the battle for Talos begin once again.

Brevsin, with little time to react to the quickness and harshness of the Scaravian battle-charge, could not make it back to his fellow soldiers in time to ensure that less of them were caught unprepared. He did not, however, allow this setback to last. Pushing past soldiers, he rushed for the front line, ready to hold it with his fellows. "The damned sand engulfs our flanks! Quickly, men! Form up and prepare for a counterattack!"

With the Fieran rear flank suddenly turned into the front lines, Firanos was scrambling to get back into positions, to be able to retaliate efficiently. The Corporal's words were nearly lost in the confused scramble, though a few men did heed the man's call and followed him to the front lines.

Scaravus's surprise attack was well planned; only a few swordsman and elementals had been at the rear to act as a buffer against any attack. The rest were the magi and archers, who were milling about in panic trying to put distance between themselves and the Scaravian offensive. This was coupled with the elementals, swordsmen, and spearmen trying to get themselves back to the front lines. The mess was complete. However...

"Get your heads together, idiots!" Ra'Shor roared at his men, a literal fireball rushing over the Fierans' heads. He landed near the Scaravus-Firanos line and began to roast many of the attackers alive in moments. "Cycle out, don't just run around trying to get into position!!" Consuming a Fire Elemental whole, the demigod began to blanket the ground in front of him with living fire, slowly cutting off the Scaravus offensive.

Where the Demigod's fire didn't get the job done, the Corporal intended to finish it up, bringing with him the few men who had been there to follow him. Raising his new broadsword, he battered back Scaravian swordsmen, pushing forward with his men as he went. Stepping back, he avoided a surprise blow from a Scaravus swordsman to the right, only to have him cut down by one of his fellows. Similarly, he blocked a Scaravus soldier from hitting one of his allies to the left, giving the man an opportunity to skewer him. "We will find the man responsible for this trickery and show him what happens when filth enters the fire!"

The chaos still spread amongst the Fierans, though Ra'Shor's presence eased the process of settling down a little bit. As Brevsin and the rest of the frontline attempted to push the Scaravians back, things seemed to be looking up momentarily.

However, off in the distance, Seraimoiron was slowly making his way down the cliff-side, beckoning to his units to follow his lead.

Meanwhile, assassins had begun to infiltrate Fieran lines, targeting anyone who seemed to be competent at leading others. A sole shadow locked his eyes on Brevsin, noticing the man had a rather impressive group under his 'command'. Smirking, the assassin slipped through the throngs of confused men unopposed.

Noticing a change in the flow of the units, Brevsin decided to take advantage of that fact. "Come! Like the Flames we embody, I plan on devouring the outer layer, before finally crushing the inner core!" With that, he adjusted, no longer simply defending his comrades but also pushing the Scaravus line, heading toward its' right flank. As focused as he was on the battle before him, he noticed no Assassin, no danger to him save for the steel and wood before him...A spear shot for his chest, though the man twisted and deflected it with the guard, twisting the blade around so that the mans' spear was pointed toward the ground before running up and severing his arm.

As Brevsin began to push the Scaravus line, rather successfully considering, he could start to notice how the Scaravians were set up: Their forces were pouring out of cliff-cover, the edges of it completely guarded by the cliff-side. They were in the superior position; Seraimoiron had planned out the attack with near perfection.

Even though the Corporal was charging the Scaravians and taking quite a few lives, the assassin was creeping up faster now, eyes locked on Brevsin's back, judging the best way to end this man's life with a single stroke. A Fieran spearmen ran up behind Brevsin, however, interrupting the man's gaze. In anger, the assassin swooped in and felled the man, plunging his dagger into the soldier's unprotected neck.

Meanwhile, Seraimoiron and a group of his Stormwarriors had begun to make a beeline towards Ra'Shor, who was still occupying the frontlines of Firanos, slowly gaining control over the inferno that began to blaze with a fiery roar.

A body hit him from behind, causing him to stumble. That body then saved him from an overexcited sword-slash, as the swordsman before him saw an opportunity. The blade clanging off of the dead mans' helmet, Brevsin ripped the broadsword up from the mans' groin through his stomach, using the movement to pivot and see just what, exactly, had slain a man from behind him. The warrior knew himself to be a master at being a living Aegis, and the idea that a man could die behind him with no constant stream of arrows meant only that their lines had been separated...
...Except that they weren't. Quite simply, there was an assassin there, instead. Raising his eyebrows for a moment, Brevsin thrust his broadsword forward, aiming to impale the man...Or so it seemed. However, predicting the man would dodge, he put one foot forward on the carcass, ready to allow it to slide to either side and swing it in any way the man dodged...Or downward, depending on his preference, and called out "Close the lines for me. I'll be there to head the charge once more, but first I must take care of a stray bit of sand!"

Swearing, the Scaravian assassin attempted to sidestep the Corporal's lunging stab. However, he did not plan on being tripped up by the body of the man he had just felled. Managing a none-too-graceful collapse, the assassin was easy pickings for Brevsin to slay.

Things had begun to settle down in the Fieran army now, archers and magi beginning to unleash their payload on the Scaravians. However, in the cliff-sides the Scaravian archers were also retaliating, picking their shots carefully instead of blind firing into the throngs of Fierans. The full battle had begun, with neither side ready to retreat or give way.

Now things were about to get interesting. In the center of the warring armies, Seraimoiron and his Stormwarriors, all seething with electrical energy, unleashed a blast at Ra'Shor and his living flames, combating the fire with their own.

"So... Seraimoiron. We meet again," Ra'Shor said, brushing dirt from his face. "I have to applaud you and your men for driving off the Ekro for me. Now, if you'll kindly leave, Talos belongs to Firanos."

"Cocky as ever," Seraimoiron scoffed. "Talos is our land, Son of Far'Khira. Begone and your men will live another day."

"Not a chance, mortal. Burn forever!!" Ra'Shor roared, engulfing himself in fire and charging at Seraimoiron. The Sting of the Scorpion and his warriors stood their ground as the elemental being charged them, readying themselves for a battle they wouldn't soon forget.

Noticing not only the large battle going on between the two generals, but that their own was facing off against not only a General, but an elite core of soldiers was backing up the enemy. Pointing to them with his sword, he called out "The heads of two great beasts collide! Let us sever the Scorpions' pincers, before they can do likewise to our Demigod!" With that, he leapt back into the fray, once again slicing his foes and deflecting their blades, once again guiding the men before him toward the enemy. Now, however, the target was the heart of the battle...And the stormwarriors' crackling lightning, with it.

As Brevsin charged for Ra'Shor and Seraimoiron, a group of Scaravian spearmen intervened, brandishing their long spears at the man and gorging an unwary Fieran swordsman that had been charging ahead of the Corporal. The group was four strong. Behind Brevsin were a swordsman and two Spearmen, making the battling group equal as far as manpower went.

More and more Scaravians were beginning to surround the Generals' battle, which made Seraimoiron grin to himself. All part of the plan. Get Ra'Shor's attention and draw him into their army. Surround him, finish him, and then the Fierans will crumble. To kill a demigod... You had to think.

"With me, Scaravus!" the Sting roared, launching a ball of lightning at the Essence of the Inferno. Ra'Shor engulfed the ball with fire, the two magics fighting for a moment before cancelling each other out. It was a testament to Ra'Shor's power that the lightning did not win.

"Come closer, bug, so that I may squash you..." the demigod rumbled, fire blazing about him. He held his hands out and began pelting the area in front of him with fireballs, which Seraimoiron had to counter with his lightning strikes.

Brevsin knew time was running short. He was willing to limit himself, but he didn't have time right now to deal with these spearmen. For a moment, he stood still, eyes closed. It seemed like the perfect time to attack.

Except that he was in his most dangerous state. With his Fires groping for the keyhole, they finally found their mark. Click. Click. The Bracers fell to the ground. The fire did not simply whoosh out of him, it almost screamed its release, exploding out of him with unnatural violence. Taking advantage of this temporary blue inferno, he swung his broadsword in an arc, allowing the flames to lick up the spears of his foes. Before it could disappear, he lunged forward, ready to batter any thrust made at him away with the pommel of his blade before bringing it crashing down on the Spearman and continuing toward the General.

As fire leapt out of Brevsin's body, his allies similarly fell back in astoundment, used to fire but unused to it appearing so suddenly in their midst. The Corporal charged the spearmen then, leaving them behind as they struggled to recover. As a blazing inferno, Brevsin effectively intimidated the Scaravians and his fires crackled along their weapons.

The men moved back quickly before Brevsin charged, two of them dropping their weapons while the others managed to distance themselves enough to keep the fire at bay. Their weapons were thick and well made, simply charring a bit from the flames; Scaravus's warriors had prepared for fighting Firanos.

As he began to charge forward, the still-armed spearmen thrusted their weapons at him simultaneously. The man on his right aimed at his leg while the left man aimed at his abdomen. Brevsin would have to make a choice or else alter his proceeding action in order to avoid being gored on the weapons.

Sweeping his sword from right to left, he knocked one of the spears off-course before moving his own body in that same direction. Gripping the broadsword tightly, he focused his fire through his arms before giving the sword a mighty swing for the mans' chest, giving it a bit of a running start and attempting to, once more, clear the line and continue for his General.

The spearman cried out as he was nearly split asunder, and his companion roared in anger at his ally's death. Before Brevsin could get too far, the man attempted another jab at his back. The other two spearmen, though finally retrieving their weapons, were now occupied with the other Scaravian warriors.

The fight between Ra'Shor and the Scaravian General now lay before him, despite the outcome of the spearman's attack. Ra'Shor was still managing to defend against Seraimoiron's attacks, but the demigod was now getting surrounded by the Stormwarriors, the electricity-wielding swordsmen swooping in for surprise hits when Ra'Shor was distracted by other attacks.

"Get off of me, you blasted gnats!" Ra'Shor roared, pushing back the Scaravians with a burst of searing flame. While the fire was coming, one of the Stormwarriors used the moment to slip behind Ra'Shor. Electricity sparked along his blade as he waited for his moment to strike.

Brevsin gasped, sucking in air as a spear dug in between his shoulder-blades. He was, after all, completely unprepared. However, he simply swooped around, bringing his broadsword up with fire licking up from his hands toward the blade in a full circle before charging once again into the fray. With his off-hand, he removed the spear from his back, still running as he stopped, lifting the large weapon and throwing it at a Stormwarrior like an oversized throwing knife. Knowing that metal would do him very little good here, he continued the fight with his bare hands, running toward another Stormwarrior to give him a bear-hug before allowing his blue tail to wrap around the mans' stomach, and consuming his hand in flame.

The first Stormwarrior barely saw it coming, his left arm getting impaled by the spearhead. Roaring in pain, the man dropped to a knee before ripping the weapon out. Crackling with electricity produced in anger, the warrior bullrushed Brevsin and attempted to skewer him with a lightning-infused blade, left arm hanging uselessly.

This was all while Brevsin was occupied by the other warrior, who had been sparkling with lightning already. Though Brevsin's fire still consumed him in a screaming death, the electricity still jolted into Brevsin body, enough to cause his body to go numb for a moment. The charred Stormwarrior collapsed, with or without Brevsin.

Seraimoiron had vaguely noticed this new intruder on his battle, but figured his warriors would be able to dispatch him easily enough. Ra'Shor was weakening, and the Scaravian General was ready to deliver a decisive blow.

"I'll... not surrender so easily!" Ra'Shor snarled after a breath, grabbing a Stormwarrior by the neck and frying him alive in one smooth motion. The man's electricity still affected the Demigod, but Ra'Shor was beginning to grow numb to the pain. Or perhaps he was just growing numb. Driving himself forward, Ra'Shor became an inferno, seeking to engulf Seraimoiron in a lethal storm of fire.

Dropping his arms, Brevsin allowed himself to stand numbly for a moment, reactions slowed by the energy. For this reason, his reactions were off when he heard the crackling, and only his reflexes saved him from a gaping wound in his torso. As it was, he was still shocked by the sword which passed mere inches from his arm as he tumbled to the left, spinning with his flame-tail lashing for the mans' own Torso. Jumping upward, he grabbed the man by the hair, igniting his hand before tossing the Stormwarrior at Seraimoiron and charging at the General himself, ready to back Ra'Shor up should the Demigod be weakened sufficiently to fail in his attack.

The Stormwarrior recoiled from the first attack and had no defense against Brevsin's next move. Unable to combat it, the warrior was tossed at Seraimoiron, who nimbly moved out of the way of the tumbling man and his burning hair.

Noticing this new threat, Seraimoiron unleashed a strike of lightning at Brevsin, attempting to end him in one strike. However, fire exploded into the bolt's path, Ra'Shor interrupting the attack with his own.

"Take him down!!" Ra'Shor roared at Brevsin, shooting a torrent of fire at the Scaravian. Seraimoiron realized his position and now prepared himself for a final attack, electricity running all along his body. Two Storm warriors remained from the original team, on behind Seraimoiron and another on the other side of Ra'Shor from Brevsin, both also charging their electricity.

Outside the battle in the center, Scaravus and Firanos had fought to a near stalemate. Most of the Fire Mages had been picked off by assassins or archers, leaving just the foot-soldiers alive in the Fieran army. But they were more than enough to combat Scaravus's men, who were slowly being pushed further into the valley. Of course, both armies still had their archers, and it was beginning to dwindle into the lower 300s of men left alive.

Brevsin leapt to do as his General commanded, pulling out twin longswords as he charged the opposing two. He put every ounce of his being into producing the hottest flames he could, blue fire gushing out of him like an enormous burner. With his tail and ears lengthened by the flames, it almost gave him the look of a blazing werewolf with blades at the end of it's arms. Drawing back both weapons, he threw one at Seraimoiron while lunging with the other, ducking at the last moment to deliver a flaming punch into where he assumed a fist or some other attack would be aimed for his body. With his other arm, he whipped the sword to the side, preparing to swipe the blade into the mans' side.

Brevsin's gambit seemed to have paid off.

Seraimoiron, distracted by Ra'Shor's onslaught, would not be able to dodge effectively. Brevsin's blade dug into Seraimoiron's upper-right chest, close to his shoulder but not quite that high. Recoiling with a gasp of pain, the Sting of the Scorpion discharged a large amount of electricity in front of him, catching Brevsin and Ra'Shor in the blast after Brevsin had dealt with the other Stormwarrior. Falling to a knee and dropping his weapon, Seraimoiron tried to remove the sword as quick as he could.

During this, the last Stormwarrior struck Ra'Shor from behind with a charged blade, hitting just as the Scaravian Generals attack would. The combined attack harmed the elemental greatly, but Ra'Shor hung on just barely. An arrow from behind struck the unlucky Stormwarrior and felled him, leaving him unable to finish the job.

Pulling the blade free, Seraimoiron could feel nothing in his right arm, his left flinging the weapon aside and grabbing his own. He could not continue the fight like this. Not only that, but Firanos was finally pushing back and his warriors could not handle much more, particularly if Ra'Shor joined them. There was no other alternative.

"Fall back, Scaravus! Back to the Mountains!" Seraimoiron roared, pain lacing his voice. As quick as he could, he turned tail and fled. The more he moved, the more he realized that he would no longer be able to use his arm. Perfect... how will this affect me in the dark days to come...?

Ra'Shor, recovering slowly from the attack, now looked on the fleeing army with a growing sense of satisfaction. "Cut them down, make sure as few escape as possible!" he commanded, tossing a fireball into Scaravus's midst and slaying a few extra men. He had to make sure his men didn't see him as weak, even though that was probably his last attack for a few hours.

Turning his gaze to the Corporal, Ra'Shor's look now took on a one of slight concern. The man was laying still on the ground where the electrical attack had thrown him, mouth gaping and eyes wide open. It only took a moment before the elemental was there, a hand on the man's chest.

There was a moment's hesitation. Then, Brevsin regained consciousness, gasping.

"Your heart had almost stopped," Ra'Shor said. "You are lucky you are so one with your inner fire, or else I could not have saved you,' he rumbled, a strange look in his blazing eyes. "Consider our life debts paid to each other. You have served Far'Khira well." Standing tall again, the demigod moved to watch his army chase the Scaravians. A lot would get away, including Seraimoiron, but this day was Firanos's once again.

Brevsin could see it. Far'Khira. The Pheonix hovered before his vision, the sunset behind it with darkness encroaching. He knelt there, and intrusive lightning occasionally flowed through his system. A reminder of how he came to be here. He stared for a few moments, simply taking in the glory of his patron Meragia. He could see why the Pheonix King followed this one so. "What will happen to me?" The words seemed to echo out, blanketing the world before returning from every direction. Far'Khira simply stared. And then fire enveloped the world.

"Your heart had almost stopped," Ra'Shor said. "You are lucky you are so one with your inner fire, or else I could not have saved you,' he rumbled, a strange look in his blazing eyes. "Consider our life debts paid to each other. You have served Far'Khira well."

With the remaining longsword, he stabbed it into the ground, pulling his now-weak body up. He was fortunate; his body was absorbing Ra'Shor's flames well. He looked over at the Inferno, grateful, and nodded his thanks before turning to watch the fleeing Scaravians. "Let Far'Khira's flames burn their deserts to glass and crumbling stone." He managed wearily, "But let that wait for another day."

Moving back to the battlefield, he'd scour the place until he could locate his bracers, which he would pick up, clicking onto his wrists as his flames returned to his body, nurturing his wounds as best they could. His flame, for now, would remain hidden within his body, ready to be unleashed as an inferno come their next battle. He chuckled. "Seron, I am finding the challenge of not using my flames to be too difficult to follow by."
