Introduction:

They had been walking for two days now, but finally, they arrived at the edge of the glade, where the chalice providing Orion with his strength once rested, a familiar area for Lieutenant Kurotsubasa. Everything was quiet, almost too quiet.
General Narezayn was walking at the front of the group, with Prince Zun'Yun behind him, surrounded by Stormwarriors. "My prince, I would like to ask that you do not take more time than is needed." Zun'Yun, his wings folded against his back. "I won't. But these secrets of this chalice are too important to let slip."
With a simple nod, the party walked onwards, slowly approaching the shrine, was seems have been rid of the corpses left by the previous battle here.

Though trees and leaves were rustling in the distance, not a soul was in sight anywhere, but Narezayn seemed to be on edge anyhow.

Verin Ai'tasah (Duelist)
A follower of Kaizan since his first mission into Paladin Grove, Verin is an adept swordsman, fearsome in solo combat. Though he has been practicing with fighting in unfavorable conditions, he still prefers the intimacy of a one-on-one fight.

Samara Tirno (Rogue)
A woman who has also been through it all with the Lieutenant, Samara is a quick-footed and silent attacker, well trained with her two small knives. She's grown more than a little attached to Kaizan in the short while they've known each other.

Yeron (Swordsman)
A new recruit into Kaizan's troop, Yeron is a dual-wielder of short swords, adept at keeping enemies under pressure while others back him up. Alone, he has to act rather rashly to down an enemy, tactics that might cost him more than he gained.

Riak (Archer)
A longbowman recruit. With focus, he can hit a bullseye from 200 yards every time. Under pressure, he's an average shot. Wields a knife at close range, if he must.

Peria (Wind Caller)
The best Wind Caller in Kaizan's troop, Peria was a magical prodigy when she was being trained. She even taught Kaizan a few tricks he could do with the wind, and the two have studied a few night together to achieve better synchronization when working magic together.

**Units will receive surnames and further characterization as they survive/participate in missions.

As the group moved into the area, Lieutenant Kaizan listened to the two Generals talk without input, watching the Prince with a curious expression. He had specifically asked to join the Prince on this mission, slightly paranoid about the possibility of a Archeon ambush in their sacred woods. Though he knew the Prince could handle himself in a fight and Narezayn was an accomplished warrior, the Lieutenant believed that his presence would help keep things under control. At least by a little bit.

Turning his head slightly, the winged man looked back at his five companions, hand-picked from his troop to aid him today. Verin and Samara were givens; he knew them, trusted them, and was familiar with their skills. Yeron, Riak and Peria... less so. He had seen all of his troop members in action, true, but a single duel or practice session was hardly enough for full confirmation of skill. Allowing a small smile of reassurance for Samara, Kaizan returned his gaze to the front.

They were coming up on the tomb, a scene of death last time Kaizan had been here. He had lost two good men here. He would not lose what they had given their lives for. Praying that his paranoia was ill-founded, Kaizan moved up to Narezayn's side.

"General. Have we had patrols in this area since we took the territory?" he asked, a simple question that he had yet to ask on their way in.

Narezayn nodded once at Kaizan's question, glancing around. "Multiple patrols of both ground and air forces have passed by the tomb, and nothing out of the ordinary was ever reported... And that's exactly why I'm worried. It's not those zealots to just abandon one of their shrine. Keep your guard up."
With that, the gathering reached the tomb, with Narezayn turning to the prince. "Your majesty. I will send four of my men with you inside the tomb. The rest of us will guard the outside to make sure none get inside. Please hurry with your business here." Zun'yun nodded promptly, before heading inside, carrying a rather large bag inside aswell, four of the storm warriors following him. Narezayn then proceded to place himself square in front of the doorway. "All of you, patrol the area. See any kind of movement, no matter how small, you check it." The stormwarriors nodded, before spreading out as they began patrolling the region.

Occasionally, the leaves of the trees would be ristling, aswell as birds were whistling.

"Aye, my thoughts as well..." Kaizan echoed, peering about uneasily. As they approached Orion's Tomb, Kaizan caught Verin's eye and nodded to the man. Verin mirrored his movement and, without a word, followed Zun'Yun into the tomb. As much as Kaizan trusted Narezayn's choice of men, he wasn't about to play with fate just yet.

Sticking Riak by the Tomb's entrance and Yeron set to patrol with the stormwarriors, Kaizan took Peria's hand and the two wind-conjurers ascended to the top of the tomb. Peria began walking along the top of the stone monument at the edge, moving towards the center, while Kaizan simply began to float about on his wings, watchful on the areas he vaguely remembered were the most concealing.

Paranoia at its finest, bud... Kaizan thought to himself.

The area remained quiet for most part, as Zun'Yun began inspecting the various runes and inscriptions inside the tomb. The stormwarriors continued their patrol outside, keeping an eye on everything. Every scuttle of leaves and branches would draw their attention.

It was until a suspiciously loud owl called out that the guards all turned their attention to the west. "What the hell was that? Aren't owls supposed to be nocturnal?" One of the guards made his way over to the shrubbery along the side, peering through the leaves.

"Target marked... Let fly..."

Out of nowhere, the man was struck in his neck from behind by a straight arrow, causing him to fall forward into the shrubbery. "What the?!" The other guards turned their attention towards the man, aswell as Narezayn did, narrowing his eyes. "We got archers! Shield yourselves!"
As if on cue, more arrows flew out of the shrubbery, managing to strike another stormwarrior in the shoulder, who snarled as he dropped to his knees, holding the shoulder. Another arrow went flying straight for Riak, seeking to dig into his throat for an immediate kill.

The other stormwarriors began to shield themselves with an electrical barrier, which helped in deflecting the metal tipped arrows. "Find them!"

Kaizan was nearly as surprised as the others when archers began firing at them, swearing to himself mentally. Wonderful, an enemy that can pick me off at a distance... Settling onto the roof of the tomb, Kaizan made his way to Peria.

"Ready?" he asked, already beginning to whip up a small current of wind.

"Absolutely," she replied, settling herself on the ground with her eyes closed. Immediately the two began to coordinate their wind-channeling. She had thought up a way to find enemies in cover, though it was rather inefficient with only one wind channeler. Paired up, they should be able to get everyone on their enemies.

The wind they conjured was in small streams, slowly spreading out from the roof and entering the woods. The duo had specially conjured the wind to be closer to their conscience; if something living passed through the stream, they would feel it. Like a huge spider web, the streams of air began to comb the immediate area of cover.

While this was going on, Yeron held up his swords in a defensive fashion, eyes everywhere. He wasn't meant to engage stealthy enemies, much less ones with ranged power. At the very least he could act as a moving target.

Riak, meanwhile, was unlucky. The arrow found its mark and downed the archer, blood spurting from his puncture wound. He wasn't likely to make it. Inside the tomb, Verin saw his ally die and spoke to the other warriors.

"We have enemies outside. One man just went down to an arrow, so they have archers," he informed them, not about to offer them any orders or suggestions. He was hardly of a rank to do such a thing.

As soon as the arrows started flying, Samara dashed for the trees, noting where one of the arrows had gone. She had been watching like a hawk since Kaizan went up to the roof. Hopefully she was moving fast enough to avoid arrows.

(Poor bastard. I couldn't decide Riak's fate, so I rolled a d10. Unlucky was a ironic word choice in this instance xD)

"Kill the channelers..."

Not even a split second after that was whispered among the woods, a faint glimmer of light came from one of the trees, before straight enchanted arrow, empowered with light, shooting out like a powerful beam as it burst through the wind currents channeled up by the two, seeking to strike Kaizan in his upper body, hoping to disrupt the storm before they could uncover their positions.

Narezayn snarled, not knowing where to go or where to strike first, he channeled up some electrical bolts, before blinking as he realized that he couldn't risk shooting any bolts without lighting the entire forest on fire. "Be careful with lightning! If this forest goes ablaze, we might have bigger problems!" His words weren't even cold as an arrow raced past his head, hitting the back wall inside the tomb, actually just barely passing over Zun'yun's head, who glancing behind him.
Snarling, Narezayn continued to channel up a electrical field to try and deflect any arrows.

The other stormwarriors snarled, trying to pinpoint any of the archers, but unable to act fast enough without lighting the forest on fire, they didn't know what to do.

The archers just continued their relentless assault, firing arrows from everywhere, seeming to be constantly on the move.

Unlike Peria, Kaizan had his eyes open and was prepared for an attack. When he saw the flash of light, he knew what was coming and quickly moved out of the way. Though the distraction caused a few of their tendrils to falter, Kaizan quickly picked up the slack again, focusing on where that arrow had come from.

It was then that he noticed the confusion that was taking place on the ground. Grimacing, he tried to think up of something to do, leaving most of the channeling to Peria, now. She could still find the attackers, it was just a matter of communicating the finds to Kaizan.

If we retreat into the tomb, we would either draw them out or start a waiting game... That they would surely win, he thought, glancing about as Peria continued to work. Bullrushing them isn't going to work, either. There has to be something we can do... He almost suggested overriding Narezayn's orders and setting the woods ablaze. With Peria's help, he could snuff out the fire if needed, but that would require far too much energy.

"Peria, is it possible for you to conjure an illusion of wind around me***?" Kaizan asked, thinking up a plan. If she couldn't, then he'd be taking a huge risk.

On the ground, Samara reached the trees, quickly gaining a perch within a leafy tree and peering into the woods carefully. If she caught sight of an enemy, she could direct someone towards them. Hot on her tail was Yeron, who had seen the rogue dash off into the woods. Now heading that way himself, he hoped he could help her in some instead of being dead weight out here in the open.

Inside the tomb, Verin quickly moved to the Prince's side after that arrow flew by. "My Lord, I'm going to have to ask that you step aside, away from the opening. Even a stray shot like that has killing power."

(*** actually asking YOU this. Unsure if Wind Callers have this ability)

Prince Zun'Yun was quick to respond to Verin, nodding as he moved aside, though he still sought to get up close to some of the inscriptions on the walls. "I have to keep on looking, though. The faster I find the solution to this, the faster we can get out of here!" He turned towards the man who had now erected an electric barrier in the doorway leading outside. "General!" Narezayn glanced over, before nodding, gesturing to two soldiers. "Maintain this barrier!" He then rushed over to the Prince's side, reaching for the bag that he had hidden beneath his cloak, pulling the infamous chalice out that was the reason for this all. The Prince nodded, before looking at the chalice as he gazed over the wall.

Outside, Peria's channeling would be able to pinpoint the location of two archers, one on either side of the tomb, hidden within the tombs. She would however be unable to fulfill Kaizan's request.
One of the archers she has spotted though, lined up his shot, his arrow fueling with light once more as it shot forward, aimed to strike Peria in the side of her head now.

Samara's daring approach turned out different than she most likely hoped, for as she peered around the tree to pinpoint the enemy, a hand came out to grasp the girl's throat, squeezing down on it in such a way that it would strike the correct pressure point in her neck to have her lose consciousness, seeking to drag the girl into the shrubbery. As this happened, from the other side of a tree, an arrow flew out, seeking to strike down Yeron before he could close the distance.

As this all happened, multiple arrows sought to claim another head, but the Stormwarriors, shielding themselves with their electrical barriers, managed to survive for now.

"Farewell... Lieutenant..."

From the trees, another shimmer of light appeared as not one, but three light infused arrows came soaring out, curving in the air, as they seemed to try and strike Kaizan down, an arrow coming from each side, the arrows cutting through wind currents with surprising ease.

Sighing, Kaizan thought vigorously, eyes still glancing about as he attempted to settle a worthwhile plan. Without an illusion of some sort, this would get very risky... There had to be a better or safer way.

As he glanced about, Kaizan again noticed the glimmer of light, eyes widening as the new attack came. Thinking quickly, the Lieutenant grabbed Peria about the waist in a tackle (which caused the one aimed at her to miss) and launched himself skyward, one of the Light-infused arrows cutting along his shin painfully. Shit! Letting Peria drop, Kaizan focused and launched a condensed ball of wind towards where he had seen the glimmer come from. It should have enough force, even at that range, to hit lack a sack of bricks and disperse in a small gust of wind on contact.

Meanwhile, Peria used wind to safely float down, making her way towards the edge of the tomb to hop down and again use wind to soften her landing. After his attack, Kaizan began to make his way that way, too.

With Samara out of commission, Yeron was unknowingly alone, charging for the brush. The watchful swordsman saw the arrow coming, though, and maneuvered out of the way, now going into a full on sprint towards his attacker. Dammit, Samara better not be in trouble!

Snarling to himself, Narezayn turned to Verin. "The prince's safety is in your hands, warrior. My men will try to keep the entrance blocked. Guard him with your life." He didn't even wait for an answer, as Narezayn rushed to the center of the shrine, below the hole in the ceiling that allowed light to pierce through, thunder gathering around the man, before he launched himself upwards, landing onto the roof of the shrine, before rushing forward to jump down and land next to Kaizan. "Lieutenant Kaizan!" He called out as he began conjuring up a thunder barrier. "I need you to blow the leaves of those trees. Uncover our enemies. I will shield you!" With that, the Paladin Stormer moved in front of Kaizan and Peria, as an electrical barrier, powerful enough to block light-infused arrows formed around the three, crackling as metal-tipped arrows were swiftly averted by it, digging into earth and stone.

Samara was nowhere in sight, nor was her assailant.

Yeron's reckless charge was met with a lethal counter-attack however, as one of the sacred archers rose up from the bushes, five arrows resting on his bow. "May Alu'Terasa have mercy on your misguided actions..." With that, he released the bowstring, sending the five arrows soaring straight for the charging Aeregosian.

Verin nodded, acknowledging the General as he turned to the Prince. "Your Majesty, I will not fail you," he assured the man, bowing slightly. Formalities aside, Verin turned and moved slightly towards the rear end of the tomb. The General had just reminded him of a second way into the shrine that needed to be covered, and thus he had his eyes on the normal entrance AND the ceiling, favoring the former over the latter.

Outside, Kaizan was surprised to be greeted by Narezayn, the man apparently having a plan of his own. "Alright... Peria, with me," the Lieutenant ordered, synchronizing himself with the Wind Caller again. As one, they conjured a mighty stream of wind, pushing it out like a giant wave of wind up and over the trees. At first, it didn't even disturb the leaves of the foliage whatsoever. It was only when the stream had traveled about 100 yards into the treeline that Peria and Kaizan pulled back suddenly, the gust of wind coming not FROM the tomb but TOWARDS the tomb. It was only after a few seconds passed that they changed direction and pushed from their side, spreading the leaves wide and hopefully exposing their assailants.

The bowman's words and appearance gave Yeron just enough time to be able to react to the oncoming attack. It was going to be tricky, though... The Aeregosian swordsman, a unit already known for their grace and style, attempted to position himself just right to get through the peppering of arrows. It almost worked when he used his blade to block an arrow he couldn't avoid; however, he misjudged one's trajectory and ended up with a shaft through his upper left breast, nearly into his shoulder. Fighting through the pain, Yeron attempted to leap at the bowman, seeking to bring his blades down on the Archeon assassin.

The bowman that nearly took Yeron down was struck by amazement. How could he have survived this? He tried to load up another arrow to finish the job, but Yeron was too close as the man had his swift end brought about.

It was then that the ferocious winds began taking their effect, not only sending arrows off-course, but also revealing a large number of the archers in the trees and shrubbery.
Narezayn saw this and snarling. "Brothers! They are no longer hidden! Strike with great vengeance!" The stormwarriors snarled, redirecting their stormshields into powerful electric current. "For the Empress!" They called out, as powerful bolts of pure energy shot forward, striking multiple of the archers down, though they weren't beaten by far, the archers continued their assault, launching arrow after arrow to fell their foes. This time, however, the stormwarriors had the upper hand, as their electrical powers sent the arrows flying off course, while striking back at their unrevealed foes.
"Keep it up, Kaizan! I will show these fools what true power is..." The two stormwarriors inside stopped maintaining their lightning shield, coming outside to join Narezayn, taking over his job, as the general himself stepped through the thunder, which crackled around his skin, seeming to reform around his hands, as he began powering up himself. "Cover me, brothers!"

Samara was however still nowhere to be seen.

Kaizan did indeed keep it up, the duo able to maintain the current far beyond either's normal stamina. They made sure to cover the perimeter of Orion's tomb, leaving no cover undisturbed. However, what Kaizan was worried about was the lack of an discernable leader. They had yet to see an authority figure amongst the archers. They wouldn't be here in such force without one...

Where are you, zealot? Kaizan wondered, continuing his channeling with Peria.

Meanwhile, Yeron pulled his blades out of the archer and, after a moment's thought, pulled the arrow slowly out, working the shaft to make sure the arrowhead came with it. The pain was outrageous, but he managed to get it all, tossing the bloody weapon aside. Kaizan and Peria's winds were distracting, but Yeron managed to keep looking for Samara, knowing she wouldn't go TOO far into the brush.

And there was something there. Samara's daggers, dropped from her hands when her body went limp. Yeron snatched the shivs up and slipped them into a pouch at his side, knowing Samara had to be somewhere close. His eyes cast about, expecting a trap.

E1Alpha

Yeron found nothing in the vicinity however. Samara was nowhere in sight.

Narezayn kept on focusing power around him, the man thundering with lightning as his eyes glowed even brighter. "Shen'Giyuh... Heed my call... Answer my desperate prayer... And grant me the power... to flay these zealots... who would seek to undo your legacy..."
As if by divine intervention, the skies twisted and turned with thunder gods, both stormwarrior and archer almost freezing in awe, as within the clouds, a draconic roar could be heard, before a bolt of thunder came down upon Narezayn, who called out in what sounded like cries of agony.
"This battle... is over!" He called out, as he let the power within him erupt outwards, thunder striking out around him, taking out nearly all visible archers with one single strike, frying them alive.

When it was over, Narezayn collapsed to his knee, grunting as he gazed about. Everything was quiet. No arrows were flying anymore.

Still Yeron cast about, hoping to find some trace of where the rogue had gone. After a few moments of nothing, though, he gave up, turning his attention to the spectacle that was in the sky.

Kaizan was awestruck at the power that Narezayn had conjured, dropping the wind current as the General fell to a knee. Still wary of further attack, Kaizan moved to the General's side, offering a hand to help the man up. Peria was behind him, a faint trickle of wind surrounding her. She, too, was on edge.

"General, your efforts were astounding," Kaizan intoned, peering about. "However, I am not sure the battle is over... We have yet to see anyone who might be their leader. We can only hope that your attack took him or her out as well." As he spoke, Yeron exited the trees, one sword sheathed to hold his hand to his wound.

"Lieutenant, Samara is gone..." he hissed in pain, trying to hold back the failure in his voice.

Inside the tomb, Verin had seen little of the attack other than the storm above and the flash of lightning that was shadowed by roaring thunder. Narezayn or Kaizan had done something amazing, he assumed, and hopefully that meant the end of this. "Prince Zun'Yun, how comes your study?" the swordsman asked.

E1Alpha
04-15-2013, 05:14 PM
Zun'Yun blinked as he was spoken to, turning his attention to Verin. "I'm working as fast as I can... But I think I'm getting close... You see... The inscriptions tell that-..."

"A magnificent lightshow, Aeregosian." A voice rose up from the roof of the shrine, as now an individual in white armor stood there.
Immediatly, stormwarriors turned to him, charging up lightning attacks, before the man raised his hand. "I would not do that... Lest you wish to risk striking one of your own..." At that, another archer came up from behind him, holding Samara, with a blade pressed near her throat.

The stormwarriors snarled, disrupting their attack as their attention turned to Narezayn and Kaizan.

The armored man smirked, snapping his fingers as more archers revealed themselves, coming prowling out of the shrubbery, each with an arrow laid upon their bow.
"Glad we understand eachother..."

Narezayn snarled, trying to push himself up, but immediatly stumbling onto his knee again. His stamina was drained.
Zun'Yun gazed up at the scene, before quickly returning his attention to the chalice, hoping he could find a solution to stopping this tragedy.

The armored archer narrowed his eyes as his eyes set upon the two commanders. "Well... I hope you're wise enough to give your soldiers the right command..."
Narezayn seemed to actually wait for Kaizan. Samara was part of his forces, thus he left the choice up to him.

Verin scowled and moved closer to the Prince, hand tight on his sword. He trusted Kaizan would do what was right; the Prince was more important here. Eyes everywhere, the duelist waited for an enemy to kill.

Lieutenant Kaizan has his gaze fixed on Samara. Again...? Always you are being used against me Samara... he thought hopelessly, one hand going to Purifier's handle. He looked to Narezayn for a moment, knowing the man was spent. Hanging his head for a moment, Kaizan whispered to Peria.

"Do it... and protect Narezayn," he said, a small trickle of wind keeping the words only for Peria. She breathed in once, then acted. The wind channeling around her erupted forward into a narrow channel of wind, aimed not at the leader, but at Samara and her captor. All it was meant to do was knock them down, hopefully dislodging the knife from the archer's hand in the process. Either way, it gave Kaizan enough time to react.

Wings flaring, the Lieutenant roared his fury as lightning and wind surged around him, drawing forth Purifier and launching himself skyward, straight up. "Stormwarriors! Strike down these misguided zealots in Shen'Giyuh's name!" he commanded, now a few feet above the Archeon leader. Electricity now flowing through him, Kaizan launched a single bolt at him as the winged man dove towards the roof.

With the Stormwarriors, Yeron followed Kaizan's orders and rushed the closest archer, ready for a counterattack before he managed to get into melee range.

The man, along with Samara would be blasted backwards, falling down in the water inside the tomb, the archer being knocked out cold, as the Stormwarriors turned to strike the archers. While another of the stormwarriors was shot down, the other closed the gaps as they sought to engage the archers in melee combat, who were swift to duck and dodge most of the attacks, though two were soon to be taken down.

The general merely gazed at Kaizan as the man came charging as him, a bow appearing in his hand, as time slowed for the archer himself. "Like a fly..." He vanished from Kaizan's sight, reappearing in the air, right behind Kaizan, who moved in slow motion for him. "... into the spider's web." By the time he had reappeared behind Kaizan, an light enchanted arrow was already notched in place, as he let loose, seeking to let the arrow pierce right through Kaizan's spine as time continued on again, the archer having gained wings of pure light.

Kaizan expected the man to be tough, but the speed at which he was moving was terrifying. However, Kaizan had also expected trickery and managed to slip to the side quickly, earning a cut through his side for his efforts. Pain shocking his system, the Lieutenant turned and faced the General with Purifier held tightly in one hand, ignoring the pain that continued to throb in his side.

"I apologize, I don't believe we've met, zealot," Kaizan said with a small smirk. "Apparently you know enough that you seek to try the same tactics your underhanded Queen did," he continued with a chiding tone, as if speaking to a child.

On the ground, Yeron was preparing to swing his blades at a Archeon, one from one direction, the other from another in quick succession. Peria was standing over Narezayn, eyes on the archers in case one tried to attack the General.

"How soon can you stand?" she asked in a worried tone, hoping the man could at least get into the tomb soon.

Speaking of the tomb, inside Verin was making his way towards the fallen Archeon, surprised to see Samara landed on top of the man. Drawing his sword, Verin thrust the weapon into the man's throat, then proceeded to pick Samara up and lay her down out of the pool. He checked for a pulse.

The man simply hovered in place, his wings not even beating as he gazed at Kaizan. "The murderess of the great queen... That I would be so lucky as to find you here aswell... I am Lerothil Dawnhand... And I shall be the one to put you down..." In an instant, he vanished again, before reappearing before Yeron and simply backhanding the warrior to the ground, before reappearing in the sky, higher this time, looking down upon Kaizan.

"My warriors know these woods like the backs of their hands... There is no way they will survive... And neither will you..." Slowly, the man rose up towards the clouds. "Come now, lieutenant... Let us fight in the terrace of those we serve... We shall see which one truly reigns supreme..." With that, the man vanished into the clouds, before he'd hover above them, looking out across a pure white field, illuminated by the radiant sun above them.

Narezayn snarled, forcing himself up onto his feet. "I'll be fine, girl... Aid my warriors... These zealots need to be put down..."

Samara would still be alive, but unconscious.

Verin sighed in relief and left Samara there for now, moving back to the Prince's side. Though he did not think any would get closer, he would not leave the man undefended for now.

Yeron slowly picked himself back up, his head ringing from the unexpected blow. Peria, meanwhile, nodded at Narezayn and, lacking any other idea to deal with the archers, closed her eyes in preparation. Slowly, she brought all her remaining energies to bear and began to attempt to conjure a lightning storm. With luck and enough magic, she could provide the warriors with energy to cut down the remaining Archeons.

Kaizan sighed and watched the General named Dawnhand ascend into the clouds, the radiance of his wings and the sun making him squint. "Always with the duels... My my, but these Archeons are a prideful lot..." As he began to fly up as well, Kaizan felt a disturbance in the winds. Casting about his gaze, Kaizan noticed someone trying to summon up a storm. Peria... Hmmm... he thought to himself. As he rose, Kaizan again turned his face skyward.

Great Serpent... You have blessed us once today already with your lightning... Might you still have some energy left over to aid me in this last fight? To protect the Prince... Kaizan slowly rose up above the clouds, eyeing Dawnhand with a curious eye. Even as he did, he tried his best to aid Peria with her storm, channeling a bit of his magic into the cloud she tried to produce.

"... I will not falter," Kaizan murmured, holding his blade at the ready.

With the aid of Peria's storm, the battle on the ground was soon turning in Aeregos' favor, with many of the archers retreating into the woods, vanishing from sight, but stopping their assaults. The stormwarriors were however exhausted, taking their time to regain their breath, just like Narezayn. The battle on the ground was over, but in the skies, it was just about to begin.

Dawnhand gazed at Kaizan, his golden bow glistening in the bright light of the sun. "Kaizan Korutsobatsu... Your name is spreading like wildfire... You are an astonishing warrior... Why you let yourself be guided by delusional images." Raising his bow, arrows of pure light formed into the bowstring, though he did not pull it yet. "For someone as misguided as you... Only one fate awaits..." He then looked Kaizan straight in the eye, pulling his bow up and aiming it towards Kaizan.

"May Alu'Terasa enlighten your soul in the hereafter..." (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xo_vW_6srO8)

With that, he let the arrow fly, which split mid flight into three seperate missiles, which seemed to home in on Kaizan, aiming for different parts of his body.

"Delusional, eh?" Kaizan scoffed, watching the clouds below him darken. "You Archeons believe your Meragaia so superior... And perhaps you're right. Perhaps Alu'terasa IS a more powerful being than Shen'Giyuh..." As he said this, Kaizan slowly floated back, letting the arrows tighten in closer to each other. As he did he watched where the arrows were homing towards, lining up a strike and, when they got close, slicing the Light arrows in twine with a deft slash from Purifier.

"However..." he continued, a lightning bolt from the cloud below him striking him and infusing him with electricity. "It is not the Meragaia who fight these battles, is it? Nay, it is the men and women who take up arms in their name that fight the battles. We are their champions, and we decide who is weak and who is strong!" Kaizan held Purifier out before him.

"And I say that Archeos is weak! Your armies are weak, your generals are weak! Alu'terasa has chosen the wrong man to bring forth his Light this day, and for that mistake you shall suffer defeat by the hand of Shen'Giyuh's chosen!!" he roared, launching the entire lightning bolt at Dawnhand in the form of five separate arcing bolts.

Dawnhand scoffed as his shots missed, a new arrow already forming on his bow as he gazed at Kaizan, before the man seemed to split into four identical images of himself, the bolts all striking one, which dispersed into a fountain of light, as the three remaining images lined up their bows again, aiming at Kaizan.
"Blind fool..." He ushered out calmly, before each image let fly of their arrows, each one looking identical to another, as the light infused projectiles homed in towards Kaizan.

After the arrows would have struck their target, the two other images dispersed, as Dawnhand simply hovered in place now, already reloading his bow.

"Why do you resist? Why do you cling to false hope, when such misguided actions will only lead to further despair?" Lining up his bow once more, the man locked onto Kaizan. "So you claim to be the chosen of Shen'Giyuh? You claim to be the greatest warrior Aeregos has to offer... Then I need to worry not... For with your downfall, Aeregos will be doomed... By Alu'Terasa's will... The world shall be basked in light, and those misguided shall be removed from it..." With that, he let the next arrow fly off towards Kaizan, this one splitting up in two seperate arrows, each one soaring to the side, before homing in to try and hit Kaizan from either side.

The first volley made Kaizan tsk, eyes going from one Dawnhand to the next whilst concern flickered across his mind. Well that's hardly fair... Charging up electricity again, Kaizan unleashed three bolts this time, striking at the Light arrows in hopes that the two energies cancelled each other out. If not, he would just retreat a few more yards and repeat his last maneuver.

"I could ask you the same question, zealot," Kaizan retorted, beating his wings once or twice before rushing forward with enhanced speed. "I do not claim to be the greatest..." The two arrows were launched. They curved outward... If he kept up this speed, they would have to zoom around behind him in order to catch up. He continued his rush straight for Dawnhand.

"But that doesn't mean you aren't beneath me, knave," the Lieutenant said with a smirk, coming within feet of the General before deftly attempting to circle around behind him. This was an effort to put the General between him and the arrows. Unless the General's control and foresight were good enough, he might have a problem on his hands.

Dawnhand glared at Kaizan as he came charging at him, spinning his bow around in his hand as it formed a dual-sided blade, gripping it firmly, as he sought to bring it down onto Kaizan who came speeding to him.
To his surprise however, Kaizan ducked to the side before he was even in range, causing Dawnhand to gaze into the arrows rushing for him, his eyes widened, before each of the arrows dug into his light formed wings, shattering them like glass, the fragments turning into dispering light. "You heretical dog!" The man called out as he fall down to the earth once more, snarling as he tried to focus his power enough, knowing he had spent a bit too much already, he focused his last power, to vanish into a blur of light. Just as he pierced through the clouds. "This isn't over, queen-slayer!" With that, the battle seemed to be over.

Zun'Yun smiled contently as he had scribbling down notes on a piece of parchment, before packing up. "I got everything! Once we get back home, the secrets of this chalice are ours!"

Kaizan stared down at the clouds where Dawnhand had disappeared, wary of trickery. Those words echoed in his head as far too familiar to the ones that the dread Prophet Heirophind had said, though obviously without the Queen part. Still on edge, Kaizan slowly descended through the clouds, carrying a bit of electrical charge on him as he slowly floated back to the ground.

Inside, Verin nodded at the Prince, still ready for anything to appear from the roof or entrance. Peria had come inside as well, as she looked over Samara to make sure the woman was alright. Yeron sat at the entrance, a bit of clothing acting as a bandage for his puncture wound.

Narezayn had in the meantime managed to regain his strength, heading over to Prince Zun'yun, before taking the Chalice and putting it away. "Alright then, your majesty. We shouldn't stay here any longer, unless we want the Archeons to launch a counter attack.
Prince Zun'yun nodded promptly as the remaining soldiers prepared themselves to leave. Narezayn gestured to two of them. "You two. Take care of our fallen. Give them proper rites to ascend to Shen'Giyuh." The stormwarriors nodded, before they prepared the pyres for their fallen soldiers, including Kaizan's killed archer.

Narezayn in the mean time walked out and looked up at Kaizan. "You've done well, Lieutenant. The Empress will be proud."

Kaizan landed lightly in front of Narezayn, wincing slightly upon touching down. His body ached and he was glad it was all over. Turning his head for a moment, the Lieutenant watched as Riak's body was taken away by the Stormwarriors. I seem to have a problem with archers in my troops... he thought grimly.

"I've done no more than was expected of me," the Lieutenant said, sheathing Purifier slowly. "In fact, I was much happier that you were here, considering everything." Kaizan smiled painfully and looked towards the Prince and his remaining men. "Do we have the information?"

The Prince nodded, gesturing to a scroll of parchment in his hand. "All we need is right here. With this, we have all the tools we need to strike down Archeos, and rid the world of their zealotry." He then turned to Narezayn, who nodded to the Prince. "Alright, men! Round up everything and let's move out! We've spent enough time here!"

In passing by Kaizan, Narezayn leaned in towards him. "I'd have a good talk with that girl of yours... This is the second time she has become something to be used against you..." With that, the general walked off, the remaining stormwarriors, safe for the two in charge of the cremating the dead, following, surrounding Prince Zun'yun once more.
The Prince himself turned to the pyres as they were lit, bowing his head in honor. "Your sacrifice will not be forgotten." He then moved along aswell.

<Victory to Aeregos. Final posts can now be made.>

((It's like you read my mind, E1 xD))

Kaizan nodded vacantly, looking towards the tomb where Samara and Peria were exiting, followed by Verin and Yeron, the former man the essence of calm. Kaizan locked eyes with Samara for a moment. After a tense second, the woman looked down, breaking the eye contact. Sighing to himself, the Lieutenant turned towards the pyre that had been set up for the warriors.

Moving over to its side, Kaizan closed his eyes and offered a prayer for Riak, yet another man fallen under his watch. Verin came up behind him after a moment, a hand on the winged man's shoulder that told him it was time to leave. Opening his eyes, he looked to the duelist and nodded.

"Let's go home..." he murmured, following after the General and Prince's entourage.
