Introduction:

After traversing the cold Ilean Mountains, Zasareyt now found herself in a small chamber, which had followed a crumbling stairwell. She now stood in the cold darkness of the ruins, alone. Her survival and succes were now solely dependant on her. Who knew what lived within the ruins after so many centuries.
Before her was a long hallway, leading to a heavy wooden door, which was heavily fortified. This would have to lead her to the next part of this dungeon.

Zasareyt walks down the hallway and examines the door.

The heavily fortified door seemed worn by the tooth of time, and the freezing cold. The metal studding the old wood was rusted, and the wood itself was cracked. Although the door was locked, the lock was visible and vulnerable, and in such a condition that it could easily be broken.

Taking out her sword, Zasa takes careful aim, and bashes the lock with the butt of the handle.

The impact of the hit with the hilt of her sword caused the doorway to slide open with a loud creaking sound, the lock easily broken.
Behind the door laid a large empty room, nearly pitchblack, were it not for the torches along the way that illuminated the chamber. On either side of the chamber, was a passage, the right of which was made up out of heavy steel bars; a portcullis, while the left had a simple wooden door, that was even open on a crevice.
For the rest, the room was seemingly empty.

She first examines the steel portcullis, and peers into its hallway, then creeps over to the wooden door, and, while not opening it, tries to peer through the crack, and listen for any movement.

The steel portcullis seems to be held in place by an old, mechanism up in the ceiling. Through the portcullis, Zasareyt would be able to peer into the first bit of a hallway, but further, she was met with only darkness.
Peering through the door, Zasareyt would also be able to see a hallway, with a single dim torch hanging on the side, just barely illuminating the hallway.
The hallways were completely quiet otherwise, safe for the dripping of water that seeped inside and the crackling of the burning torches.

"Well, let's try the easy way first." She whispers. Taking out her needle gun, she cocks it. She slowly pushes open the door, keeping her needle gun pointed forward. When the door opens, she scans the hallway, following her gaze with her gun.

As Zasareyt proceded down into the hallway, she would find herself standing on the edge of a small room, which had another doorway on the side.
The room itself was empty, safe for two long gone corpses, both skeletons now, dressed in armor.
Their armor and bones however could reveal upon close inspection that there were a large number of puncture holes.

"Heh, it seems that others came along before me. They were weak." She whispers. She then quietly walks to the door on the other side of the room, and searches it for traps. If it looks safe, she will then put her ear to the door to listen, If she hears nothing, she will push the door open, while aiming into the next room with her gun.

Once again, the room beyond was completely empty and quiet, the only thing seeming off was the fact that stones of the floor seemed to be a slightly different tint than the others, but further, the room seemed completely calm and empty, as another passageway, unclosed by a door was right ahead.

Cfavano
04-15-2013, 07:32 PM
"Huh, odd. No sentries or traps. Either there's nothing here, or they're trying to trick me into a false sense of security." Noticing the changed tint, she scratches her head and shrugs her shoulders. Shen then gontinues, keeping an eye out for ambushes as she slowly enters the next room.

The next room was larger than the previous two, stretching out to the right as Zasareyt entered. Once more, the room was empty, safe for a series of cleancut grooves made in the ceiling and floor, aswell as crevices spreading along the height of the walls. Among those grooves were the remains of a skeleton, though it seemed to have been severed in seperate parts.

On the far end of the hallway, a large mechanical contraption could be seen. Gears hooked into eachother, cobwebs coated them, signaling they had not moved for a long time. Next to these gears, there was also a large lever, coated in the dust of ages.

"Finally, a room with something in it." She looks at the gears and grooves. "Hmm, probably a classic pendulum blade trap." She begins advancing clowly, testing all the ground she steps on for pressure plates. If she finds it save, he quickly passes the gaps. If she does trigger the trap, she would watch it work, and then move when the blades swing away.

The room seemed to not respond to anything that Zasareyt did. The floor did not reveal any pressure plates of any kind, and no trap was activated.

Cfavano

"Odd...nothing." She calmly began to examine the mechanical device, and searched it for any clues of what it does.

E1Alpha
04-22-2013, 03:31 PM
The device itself seemed to be nothing more than cogs, wheels and chains, worked into the wall, with the single lever to trigger them. It could be noticed, however, that the contraption seemed to be connected to something to the east. Perhaps to another room.

Seeing no reason not to, Zasareyt pulls the lever, but keeps her guard up.

E1Alpha

As the lever is pulled down, the cogwheels and chains stir, before they begin to move, one by one, an entire mechanism slowly stirring to life. The walls hid the sound of old, mechanisms grinding the dust that had gathered to the side, and the chains clattering against stone and metal as they dragged along.
In the distance, a heavy metal object could be heard slowly grinding along stone. Occasionally, steam erupted from a crack in the wall, but after a short while, the machinery seemed to be working as if he had never stopped.

Hearing the sound of moving machinery, Zasa remembers the portcullis. Keeping her guard up, she begins returning back to the original hallway where the portcullis was.

As soon as the Disgeran woman was about to cross the grooves cut into the hallway that she was currently in, large, sharp blades came rushing out out. The blades stretched from floor to ceiling and rushed by back and forth rapidly, three rows of blades following eachother up like this. They weren't pendulum blades, but more like sharp, metal sawblades that rushed by.

Cfavano

Zasa rolls her eyes. "Finally, something happens." She says. Since she feels that it must be mechanical, she believes that the blades move in a pattern. Keeping that in mind, she will watch the blades as they move, and when she discovers the pattern, she will quickly and carefully pass by the blades during the gap. If she is successful in avoiding the blades, she will continue back, her guard still up.

Though nearly losing a foot to the blade, the last blade scathed along Zasa's heel, but nothing more.
Were she to continue on, she'd find herself once more in the room with the different colored floor. Nothing seemed out of the odd here. Everything was still as it was before the lever was pulled.

"Oh, sodding heretics!" Zasa turns to look at her boot, the heel of which had been ruined. "And these were made of pure child leather. They were expensive!" Shaking her head, she continues to the next room. Unsure of what this trap could be, the takes a handful of dried peas out of her knapsack, and scatters them around the room, to see if anything happens.

E1Alpha
05-03-2013, 05:39 PM
The peas tapped onto the floor, bouncing around, but the small objects triggered no reaction, the echo of their bouncing subdued by the sound of whirring wheels and chains. The peas continued on until they got stuck in the deep crevices in between the stones.

Cfavano
05-03-2013, 08:21 PM
"Hmm, no reaction." Zasa then gets down on her hands and feet, slowly feeling her way across the floor, crawling, making sure to test the floor before she put her wright on it for pressure plates. If any danger arose, she would spring out of the way and into safety.

E1Alpha
05-03-2013, 08:41 PM
The stones would feel a lot looser than before, moving about a bit as Zasa moved along them, however, there didn't seem to be any kind of pressure plate peasant.
However, as Zasa had moved about a quarter into the room, the next stone Zasa put her hand on gave away, imemdiatly dropping out of the floor and down into a seemingly endless abyss. This was just the starting signal, as the stones next to it one by one began to give away, the entire floor rapidly collapsing into the unknown abyss beneath the ruins. You couldn't even hear the stones land at all, just hearing the crumbling of the cobblestone floor, as slowly, the entire room's bottom side vanished into the blackness beneath.

Cfavano
05-03-2013, 11:56 PM
This was Zasa's cue. Springing to the side, she began rushing for the end of the room she was going for, Keeping to the wall where she believes the stones would be the sturdiest. She runs her fastest and lightest, leaping out of the room when she gets close enough.

E1Alpha
05-05-2013, 01:52 PM
With the floor crumbling beneath Zasa's feet, she'd be able to just barely make it, thanks to being so smart as to stick to the wall, where the stones were less quick to collapse. By the time she reached the door, the entire floor had vanished, now having led her to the room with the punctured corpse in it.

Cfavano

Before advancing, Zasa will inspect the walls, ceiling, and floors to any holes that would denote dart launchers or spike traps. If she found any, while advancing, she would contort her body to not line up with said holes, while also keeping an eye out for pressure plates.

E1Alpha
05-06-2013, 11:35 AM
It would be noticable that the ceiling and floor both indeed sported holes, from which one could expect spikes to erupt. However, upon closer inspection, it was noticable that the gaps in between the floor spikes, would be filled by the ceiling spikes.

Cfavano
05-06-2013, 12:41 PM
"Well, let's hope providence shines on me." She begins sprinting for the other door, avoiding the floor spikes, and keeping her body low to try and avoid the ceiling ones.

E1Alpha
05-06-2013, 03:23 PM
Zasareyt would be out of luck now, as her mistake was about to pay dearly. As soon as she was close to halfway through the room, all the floorspikes came up rapidly, but they continued right up until they just barely hit the ceiling, their presence now causing many obstacles that would only slow Zasa down. Within the next second, the spikes from the ceiling also revealed themselves where the gaps in between the ground spikes were, digging all the way down to the floor, thus creating an inescapable death trap for the Disgeran woman.

Using one of her poison vials, she summons a venomuculai. This she-demon responds to Zasareyt's telepathic command and begins bending the spikes out of the ways with her massive strength, creating a path for Zasareyt to make her way through. Zasareyt does this quickly.
